| Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has apologised to Nigerians for the Super Eagles inability to secure a ticket to the finals Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup coming up later in November, Sports247 Nigeria can report.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the biggest football competition in the world after losing to West African arch rival, the Black Stars of Ghana in a two-legged match dubbed the ‘Jollof Derby’ on away goal rule in the final qualification playoff for the World Cup.
Super Eagles played a goalless draw against the Black Stars in the first leg of the encounter in Kumasi before being forced to a 1-1 in the return leg at the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja. The outcome that cost Nigeria a spot at the world football biggest stage and many football lovers across the nation were not pleased with the result.
As quoted by Goal.com, Victor Osimhen disclosed that it is sad for him and his other teammates that Nigeria wouldn’t be in Qatar for the World Cup and went ahead to apologize to Nigerians for the shortcomings.
"Sometimes in football, it's like this. First, as the Ghanaians had the ambition to go to the World Cup, we wanted to go there, too.
"But not qualifying has happened. We need to first say sorry to Nigerians. A lot of people still support us but what we need to do is to try to get all our supporters back 100%. We are on the right path, doing things well with the new coach Peseiro and technical staff,” he said. | | |

| Nigerian goal poacher Edema Peter who spent the just concluded season at Benin Republic outfit, ASVO F.C on loan from Nationwide League One outfit, Gbagada FC have disclosed that the details about his future is yet to be decided.
The former Ekiti United man made history when he joined ASVO last transfer window, becoming the first player of the Gbagada F.C to ever to play outside the shores of Nigeria.
He told Sports247 in an interview that no conclusion has been made on his future, assuring that it will be made known to the public when a decision is made.
“For this, I can’t say, for now, there are a lot of things going on but we’ll let the public know but no decision has been made yet,” he said.
Edema Peter had an impressive campaign in the West African country, netting 14 times and assisting twice in 24 appearances for ASVO and helping them finish 5th in the just concluded 2021/2022 season of the Benin Republic Pro League.
He was Highest Goal Scorer for ASVO F.C in the just concluded 2022 season and second Highest Goal Scorer in the Benin Republic Pro League. | | |

| As Nigeria’s Super Falcons begin to wrap up preparation ahead of the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup Of Nations(WAFCON) championship scheduled for 2nd to 23rd of July, 2022 in Morocco, the team’s media department have released the Official Team Photo for the tournament.
The two official photos of the squad with one consisting only the final 25-women players selected by Coach, Randy Waldrum for the biennial tournament while the other photo consist the players, the coaching staff and other crew members of the Nigeria delegation for the competition, were published on Super Falcons’ twitter account on Sunday afternoon.
Super Falcons who are the most successful team in the tournament and have won the last three editions will begin their title defense campaign against continental arch rival, the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in the opening match of the Group C on Monday, July 4th, 2022 at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat.
The tournament will also produce Africa representatives for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup as the top four teams will qualify for the competition billed for Australia and New Zealand. | | | |
