Even though Mr. Jeffery Udende already admit that he’s not the one who wrote this topic but it’s really capture my attention. Before I comment further in this let me tell you guys that I am MALAYSIAN and I am a MALAY girl. I am not racist and I don’t believe in color. I treat people equally as I believe in every part of the world there will be a GOOD PEOPLE and a BAD PEOPLE and even GOOD PEOPLE GONE BAD wink…wink…
And as a Malay girl who friends with foreigner including Nigerian let me comment this issue on case by case basis and just for everyone info who wish to travel abroad. And this is base from my owned experienced friends with Nigerian.
“I am final semester software engineering with multimedia at Limkokwing University of creative Technology Cyberjaya Malaysia”…” I paid the agent $15,000 dollars to come here and be maltreated like a slave”Lim Kok Wing is one of the most prestige’s PRIVATE university (“Uni”) in Malaysia. Mostly the students are from RICH @ FAMOUS Malaysian family. And not just Lim Kok Wing, any of private Uni in Malaysia will cost you like a bomb. That’s the price you have to pay if you go to private Uni. Not just here in Malaysia but also in other country I believe. When you said you paid your agent $15,000 dollars you must understand that agent are doing business and ofcoz they want to make money. One of my Nigerian friend paid almost RM25,000 per sem (more or less 1.2m Naira) for stupid college and you don’t even know if the certificates are recognized by worldwide. When I ask him why don’t you go to proper Uni or local Uni. He replied “This is what the agent propose to me”.
Nowdays our local Uni has this MOU with a few US Uni. The cert is recognized by worldwide and you paid like RM3,700 per sem (more or less 190,400 Naira). I also heard that you need to pay like $2000 dollars (more or less 320,000 Naira) for processing bla…bla…bla and so on. The actual cost you need to pay if you registered directly from the Uni website is around RM1000 (more or less 52,000). Local Uni did not appoint any agent and you have to register online. He stop from the college and start with local Uni. And he admit since the study in local Uni people treat him differently. Even the police treat him differently.
“a agent in Nigeria deceived us about Malaysia, how the country is good for students and is a low budget place where you can survive a month with just $400 dollars”Agents are doing their business honey so they will tell lies. But anyway Malaysia is one of the fast growing economy countries in Asia. The cost of hire living in Malaysia is getting higher and higher each day especially if you stay in capital city like Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor and Penang. Lim Kok Wing university was located in Kuala Lumpur and I believe people who live in Kuala Lumpur will face this problem. Not just you but even me as a local. $400 dollars (more or less RM1300 and 67,000 Naira). You think me myself as Malaysian or other Nigerians (I am referring to my Nigerian friends) can live with that amount of money?. Most will say NO but some will say YES. Why YES? Because the one who say yes is the one who know the purpose they come to Malaysia. They come here to study. And those who say NO..this is why:
1) Most private Uni or local Uni will provide accommodation for student but most of them choose to stay outside where the rental can touch up to RM700 – RM1700 a month (more or less 36,000 naira – 87,500 naira) base on the location.
2) People who say YES will spend like once or twice a month in the club. People who say NO will spend like 7 days a week in the club. And 1 night they can spend like RM800 – RM1500 (more or less 41,000 naira – 77,000 naira) just for drinks. One can of Carlsberg is RM9 (more or less 400 naira)
3) People who say YES will take a general transportation to school which more or less will cost you like RM20 a day (more or less 1050 naira) or RM120 a month (more or less 6100 naira) if you buy monthly ticket. People who say NO will rent a car. The cheapest car rental is like RM1200 (more or less 61,600 naira) a month even though if they stay in the hostel which will take them 10 – 15 min walk to school. And this is a best thing happen to me. One of my friend rent a MERC for RM4000 a month (more or less 205,000). When I ask him why?. “I am BIG BOY you know”. A big boy who begged me for food. That is so so cool.
4) People who say YES will spend time at wet market and buy things for cooking while people who say NO will spend like RM30 (is equal more or less 2050 naira) for a bowl of cowleg pepper soup.
“ After discuss with the agent, told my dad about my plan to leave American University of Nigeria(AUN) popularly known as Abti. He tried his best to discourage me, but I insisted which he allowed me have my way. Arrived KLIA January 15, 2009. since then, we started face real challenges…”When he mentioned that when he arrived KLIA and since then he started face a real challenges. This happen everywhere not just in Malaysia. The moment you step out from your country the real challenge about the real life are just started. You are new at other country. What you should do is give time to yourself to learn about the culture. You can’t bring who you are in Nigeria or any part of African country to Malaysia. We don’t care who you are in Nigeria. Same goes to me if I go to Nigeria. I can’t tell people that “Oh, Am bla…bla…bla..Am the owner of bla…bla…bla company”. Who cares? No one know me in Nigeria. So try to give time to yourself to adept other country culture.
“where sometime you find yourself been maltreated by the local called Malay the dominant population in Malaysia for no reason. A Malay person will see you and close his/her noise that black is smelling or insult you calling name like fcuk NIGGLERS. Even gate-men in this country see us as nothing.”This all depend where you stay, who you met and with who you friend with. In every country there will be an open minded person and not so open minded person. It happens everywhere too. I took my Nigerian friend to private function, to Malays wedding ceremony and they even come to my father funeral. Yeah I have to admit there’s some of local (even my relative) give them one kind of look. But they don’t chase him out. We still treat him/them like a guest. Even some of my ex-bosses will ask about him.
Don’t mind the gate-man. Most of the gate-man are not local. Most of them are from Bangladesh, Nepal and Myanmar.
Smelling nigglers? I can see there’s a lot of comment about this. Malays are stinks. African are smelly. You know what? I think you have admit that some people have this strong body odor so leave this issue.
Malays call you phyuk nigglers? What about some of you call us stupid Malays? Malays are idiot? Malays are this and that? Do you think we happy about this?. This one incident really happens to me long time ago. I was at the shopping centre waiting for a lift. I entered and I can’t press the close button. There 5 blacks in that lift (3 guys and 2 girls). One of the girl said “Fools, can’t even press the button”. And where did I do wrong again? I smile when I entered and I even greet when I entered. Well to bad coz am such a loud person if people treat me bad, I said “If am fools then you must be stupid, can’t you see am holding lots of things” so it’s equal. What you give you get back.
“I heard and saw stories where blacks has been abused by Malaysians in one way of the other, i never knew one day it will be my own turn. Thank you Jesus for saving my life. I can't wait to go home, because i am very tired of this country and their Racism.”You keep saying that blacks was abuse or maltreated by Malaysian?. What kind of abuse are you talking about? Do we make you naked in public just because you steal someone blackberry? Do we kill your people just because you’re a Christian and we Muslims?. What? Make it clear so that everybody in your country will know how bad Malaysian especially Malay people is.
“How can someone hit the back of my car”1st of all, with that kind of damages what kind of car that hit you? Google and make a comparison about that picture.
“and i will be the one to pay for his car, because i am not from their country.”Well someone hit my car and I have to pay. Am LOCAL and am MALAY. Normally what we local do if we hit someone or someone hit you. We don’t make police report because this is the penalty you have to pay. Both party. People only make a police report if they want to make an insurance claim. You can’t claim insurance if there’s no police report. That is if you hit cars. If you hit public property that will be worst. You got to pay penalty for drive recklessly plus the damage of the thing that you hit.
@ the police station while i was making police report for the accident my Gucci eyeglasses was stolen by the police officers that came to take the pictures of my car.Sorry about your GUCCI honey. But if you know your right you can ask from the police.
Just yesterday in my Condo, Nigerian guys were maltreated just like that is the name that is not our country. God help me for this remaining days i have in this country of Racism.Racism is everywhere in the world. If you can see the 2 or 3 video about racism earlier. Well I can say that we are not to that stage yet (soon or later I don’t know). We still have some respect if you show us the same. What make I want to comment in this issue is because I am Malay who has lots of African friends and from other country too. Most of my local friends ask me why I choose to be with African? They are bad people. My policy is very simple there will be bad Africans and there’s a good African, there’s a good Malay and there’s a bad Malays and so on. After years be friend with them now I choose to be with the good group. And I can see that local treat them like a same. So don’t simply judge people base on how this 100 local treat you because there another more than 2millions local will treat you nicely if you do the same.
If Malays are bad. Last year 1 of my Nigerian friend get caught for a small mistake which was accidently happen. I was shaking when he call me that police caught him. You can’t think and don’t know what to do when this happen. I called his cousin try to get some info and to my surprise he was like DON’T CARE. And all of his African friends are nowhere to be seen (accept his housemate). I was running here and there try to raise money to bail him out. And thank GOD I manage to do it ALL ALONE. After a few court hearing he was release because he’s not guilty. He thanks to Jesus for safe him. But that is because you do nothing wrong. If what you do is not right how Jesus want to help you. In every country there a rules you have to follow. But most of us (even me sometimes) try to take a shortcut way. If you want to take this shortcut ofcoz there a price you have to pay.
And if Malays are bad. Years back I sold my car to Nigerian. It’s on continue to pay back to the bank basis. Last 2 3 months the car met with an accident and it was a completely lost. I have to make claim to insurance but this will take like months for investigation. And he stop pay to the back and my name has been black listed by all banks in Malaysia. Where did I go wrong again? Friends ask me to make a police report against him. Create some story but for me…shits happen all the time so let it be. I will do my best to settle everything on my own. Because I know if I do that it will lead to another problem for him and for me which I don’t have time for that.
My advice before those choose to go abroad make sure you spend time on internet to google about the country and culture. Don’t listen to all this agents. They are selling dear. And don't simply listen to friends abroad cause they lie too. They will tell you all this sweet thing just to make you impress them but the thru...only they knw
.
And other start change the way you talk. I talk with my African friend. They just right in front of me but the way they talk is like am 100 meters away. Don’t shout laaaa…
So…cheers.
