Alhaja, a widow and resident of Balogun Street received some pounds from her UK-based daughter.
A few days later, Alhaja headed for Airport Hotel to convert her foreign currency to naira. At the gates of the hotel, she was intercepted by some currency hawkers who assured her that she would get a fair deal.
They collected the money from her while she waited patiently for them to return from a building they entered. But she got the shock of her life when the boys returned a few minutes later and told her that her hard currency was fake.
Dejected and embarrassed, Alhaja headed to the house of one of her intimate friends in the area and narrated her experience. Having been a victim of their dubious practice before, her friend led Alhaja back to the place, and to her chagrin, both the currency dealers and those who posed as customers had vanished into thin air. from www.naijakidu.com
