A few days later, Alhaja headed for Airport Hotel to convert her foreign currency to naira. At the gates of the hotel, she was intercepted by some currency hawkers who assured her that she would get a fair deal.
They collected the money from her while she waited patiently for them to return from a building they entered. But she got the shock of her life when the boys returned a few minutes later and told her that her hard currency was fake.
Dejected and embarrassed, Alhaja headed to the house of one of her intimate friends in the area and narrated her experience.
