CAIRO - A large red granite false door from the tomb of an ancient queen's powerful vizier has been discovered in Luxor, Egypt's culture minister said on Monday.

The carved stone door -- which ancient Egyptians believed was the threshold to the afterlife -- was unearthed near the Karnak Temple in Luxor and belongs to the tomb of User, a powerful advisor to the 18th dynasty Queen Hatshepsut, Faruk Hosni said in a statement.

The door, 1.75 metres (5.7 feet) high and 50 cm (19 inches) thick, is engraved with religious texts and various titles used by User, including mayor of the city, vizier and prince, antiquities chief Zahi Hawass was quoted as saying.

"The newly discovered door was reused during the Roman period. It was removed from the tomb of User and used in the wall of a Roman structure," said Mansur Boraik, who headed the excavation mission.

Hatshepsut, who ruled Egypt between 1479 BC and 1458 BC, was the longest reigning female pharaoh.

HAIR, they say is the beauty of a woman;  and any woman who is blessed with rich hair texture is not only a pride to herself,  but flaunts it jealously anywhere.  However, some like Ms Vivian Chioma Metu, a 39-year-old self -acclaimed economics graduate of Lagos State University and single mother, do not necessarily see anything spectacular about this work of nature and so, threw decency to the dogs and went ahead to criminalize it.
Recently, a bewildered female operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos discovered a large chunk of powdery substances which tested for heroine tucked in -between her hair.  The hard stuff which weighed 1.500kg was masterly concealed on the scalp of her head!
Ms. Vivian who was on her way to Guangzhou, China has successfully beaten all the security apparatus at the airport but luck ran against her after a female narcotic operative who admired her richly fixed hair approached her to know where she made it only to discover the strange substance.
On that fateful day, she had arrived the airport full of life;  having checked in her luggages earlier.  At the departure lounge and on an Ethiopian airline queue, Vivian radiated an uncommon glee and confidence, occasionally flogging around her neck and pampering her richly made hair with her long manicured nail.
What preoccupied her mind at the time was the $5,000.00 US that would grease her palm at the successful delivery of the substance unmindful of the fact that the worst moment of life was soon to take place.  At the end of the rigorous search of her luggage, she was given the green light to proceed for boarding and happily she cart-walked, passed some fierce- looking security operatives, smiled lustfully at them, waved bye to her friends who saw her to the airport and moved on.

Pope Benedict XVI was drawn deeper yesterday into the clerical sex abuse scandal that has begun to overwhelm the Roman Catholic Church, when he was accused of personally failing to take action against a serial paedophile.

The Pope was blamed directly for ignoring repeated pleas by senior American churchmen to take action against a priest who had molested up to 200 deaf boys.

Father Lawrence C. Murphy, who worked at the St John’s School for the Deaf in St Francis, Wisconsin, from 1950 to 1974, starting as a teacher and rising to director, allegedly molested scores of pupils, preying on his victims in their dormitories and on class trips.

But instead of being defrocked and the police called in, it is alleged that Father Murphy avoided justice and remained a member of the Church after a key intervention by the Pope — then known as Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. Murphy was quietly moved to the Diocese of Superior in northern Wisconsin in 1974 and spent his last 24 years working freely with children in parishes and schools. He died in 1998 at the age of 72, still a priest.
In 1996 Monsignor Rembert Weakland, then the Archbishop of Milwaukee, twice wrote about Father Murphy to the current Pope — who was head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at that time, a position he held between 1982 and 2005 — requesting that Father Murphy be defrocked after admitting to the abuse. Documents obtained by The New York Times show that Archbishop Weakland told Cardinal Ratzinger that he was referring the case to him as head of doctrine, not least because the priest was alleged to have used his role during confession to solicit victims.

Yesterday victims of molestation by Priest staged a SIT IN at the Saint Peters Basilica in Rome, as a sign of protest toward the reaction of the Catholic Church especially referring to the current Pontiff Pope Benedict XVI, who was aware of these happenings. The protest was disrupted after the Vatican called in the Italian Police, who arrested the Protesters(Which i witnessed). giving excuses that yesterday being Youths Day, the Vatican(The Pope) had an "Evangelic Encounter" with youths.

The police yesterday intercepted a truckload of ammunition carefully concealed in bags of charcoal.
The suspected owners of the ammunition were paraded yesterday by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, “D” Department (Investigations), Mr. Israel Ajao, at the headquarters of the Federal Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), Adeniji Adele, Lagos.
One of the suspects, a 53-year-old man, who allegedly travelled to Ghana for the transaction told reporters during the parade that the ammunition was purchased in Ghana for N6 million. When police further searched the charcoal bags loaded in the truck, an English Berretta pistol was also found.
He said it was his second trip to Ghana for the same transaction and that he had made N6 million profit after he had sold the ammunition to his ready buyers whom he claimed were vigilante groups and private security outfits.
He claimed that he concealed the weapons inside charcoal bags in order to beat the customs checkpoints.

I really support that guy. I mean for the first time in his whole life this is the best thing he has ever said. Take a look at what happened today again and tell me if this killings will end.

Nigeria should be divided into two nations to avoid further bloodshed between Muslims and Christians, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has said.
In a speech to students, he praised the example of India and Pakistan, where he said partition saved many lives.
Splitting Nigeria "would stop the bloodshed and burning of places of worship," state news agency Jana quoted him as saying.
A senior Nigerian diplomat said he did not take the suggestion seriously.
Hundreds of people have died in communal violence in villages around the central Nigerian city of Jos this year.
'Historic, radical solution'
Although the violence generally takes place between Muslim and Christian communities, the underlying causes are a complex mix of political, social and economic grievances.
Nigeria is roughly split between its largely Muslim north, and a Christian-dominated south.
Mr Gaddafi, until recently head of the African Union, characterised the Jos violence as a "deep conflict of religious nature" caused by the federal state, "which was made and imposed by the British in spite of the people's resistance to it".
He described the partition of India as a "historic, radical solution" which saved the lives of "millions of Hindus and Muslims".
Splitting India in 1947 caused a breakdown of law and order in which at least 200,000 people died. Some estimates say one million people were killed.
About 12 million people were left homeless and thousands were raped.
An attempt by the Igbo people of south-eastern Nigeria to secede in 1967 sparked a war which left more than one million people dead.

Germany's justice minister says a Vatican secrecy rule is complicating prosecutors' probes of segxwal abuse of children by Catholic clergy in the pope's homeland.

The Vatican says it won't comment on Minister Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger's criticizing what she called a "wall of silence."

The minister in a German radio interview Monday cited a 2001 Vatican directive requiring even the most serious abuse cases to be first investigated internally.

Scandals over segxwal abuse by Catholic clergy of minors and cover-ups by church hierarchy have exploded worldwide in the last two decades, most recently in Germany and the Netherlands.

The scandal in Germany broke in January when an elite Jesuit school in Berlin admitted the systematic segxwal abuse of its pupils by two Roman Catholic priests in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Jesuit order has said that so far around 120 people have come forward alleging abuse.
News reports said the abuse may have occurred while Msgr. Georg Ratzinger, brother of Pope Benedict XVI, was serving as choirmaster at the school. But the Regensburg Diocese said the cases occurred in the late 1950s, while Msgr. Ratzinger held the post from 1964 to 1994.

Meanwhile, a report into alleged past abuse at a monastic school in Ettal, near the Swiss border, said that minors "were massively abused over decades, segxwally, physically and psychologically" by several monks. And on Sunday new accusations came to light against a nun at an orphanage in Berlin who allegedly molested children throughout the 1950s and 1960s. The nun withdrew from the order in 1986 .

Why is it a suprise to you? You guys have been calling for Amodu to be sacked and foreign Coach to be Hired, now he has been hired and you are all complaining bout his high salary. If Amodu and Co earned half of what he's been paid, they would achieve better results to compliment the little he did achieve. Berti Vogt was Paid more than 1million dollars, yet he was the only coach(but foreign n Local) that never got to the Semi finals of the AFN since 1988...
