Muslim man received a harsh prison sentenced after he burned the Bible, according to court proceedings in Egypt.
The Islamic preacher, who is known in Egypt for his hate speeches against Coptic Christians, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for burning a Bible in front of the U.S. embassy during a protest against an anti-Islam movie, last year.

An Egyptian court in Cairo sentenced Ahmed Abdullah on Sunday for insulting religion and for burning of a Bible. He was also fined 3,000 Egyptian pounds, or about $430.


Abdullah's son was sentenced to eight years in prison and a fine of 2,000 Egyptian pounds, or $286 for his role in the Bible burning.

Abdullah publicly burned the copy of the Bible as part of a protest against the anti-Islam movie "Innocence of Muslims". The movie was produced in the United States by a Coptic Christian of Egyptian origin, and raised anti-American protests in the Muslim world. Abdullah also announced that he planned to send his grandson to urinate on the Bible.

The decision was a surprise to many, since the Egyptian courts are heavily biased towards Islamists.

A woman, Mrs. Nike Adekunle, who bit her neighbour in the eye during fighting at their Idi-Araba, Mushin residence, has been arraigned before the Ijeshatedo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos southwest Nigeria, for assault.

The incident happened at 5, Shittu Street, NEPA Bus Stop, Idi-Araba, Mushin where they reside as tenants.
The accused was alleged to have engaged her co-tenant, Mrs. Fatimo Oladimeji in a fight over disagreement on the use of the cloth hanger in their compound.

The accused, a mother of two, allegedly grabbed Fatimo’s head and bit her left eye.

The victim was rushed to the Mushin General Hospital.

.com gathered that the two women were friends before their relationship turned sour over petty jealousy.

The victim who spoke with us on her hospital bed, said doctors had yet to determine the extent of damage to her eye.

Narrating what happened, Fatimo said she was sitting in front of their house when Nike who had finished washing her clothes went to the hanger to spread them.
“I asked her to shift the clothes so that the water from the wet clothes will not spread to where I was sitting.

“She refused and we exchanged words before we started fighting.
While fighting, she bit me in the eye and I was rushed to the hospital,” she narrated.

The accused, however, blamed the victim for the fight. She explained that Fatimo went into her room and brought out a knife which she used in cutting the rope and threw her clothes in the gutter.

She admitted biting her in the eye during fighting.

She disclosed that she was arrested and charged to court by the police when the matter was reported at the Area ‘D’ Command, Mushin.

When the charge was read to her, she pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Gbajumo granted her bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned for further hearing.

Mrs Jimoh Mulikat Adebukola and her six-year-old twins were caught at Lagos Airport carrying 4.050 kg of substance confirmed as cocaine. She concealed 3.350kg in almost every part of her body, including on her Bosom  and underwear.

She also used her innocent six years old twins to carry about 700 grammes of the illicit drugs. Spokesman of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, quoted Mrs Jimoh as saying:
“I have problem of my children’s school fees. I have six children and I intend to give them good education. I also have younger ones and aged parents to take care of. They asked me to swallow the drugs, but I was afraid, that is why I packed them in my body.”

Former deputy governor of Lagos State, Mrs Sinatu Ojikutu and her son, Samson, who are both involved in a N130m land scam in Lekki, have been declared wanted by the Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU).

The police said that after admitting to the crime and refunding part of the money, the former deputy governor jumped bail and is now at large.

Below are details of how she perfected the N130million fraud:
According to a petition sent to the DIG ‘D’ Department to the Commissioner of Police, SFU; Mrs. Ojikutu and her son conspired and sold a parcel of land at Plot 24 Block 4 at Admiralty Way, Lekki, Lagos.

The buyer, whom the police did not name, said that he deposited the N130 million into Mrs. Ojikutu’s Union Bank account in tranches.

After payment, According to Premium Times report, the buyer said that he requested for the title document of land but was told that the original documents had been lost.

To back up her claim, the former deputy governor procured an affidavit, a police crime extract, and a publication in the Vanguard Newspaper of 18th October 2011, all purported evidence to the loss of the original documents.

“The petitioner believed her because of her personality as the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State,” the police said in the statement signed by Ngozi Isintume-Agu, the Police Public Relations Officer, SFU.

After the petitioner commenced development on the land and was on the verge of completion, the original owner of the land turned up and it was discovered that the land did not belong to the ex-deputy governor, the police said.

“She actually sold Plot 23 Block 4 while Plot 24 Block 4 already has a property on it,” the statement added.

Police said that investigations revealed that the land sold by Mrs. Ojikutu actually belonged to one Mr. Afolabi.

“It was also discovered that the Plot 24 Block 4, which actually belonged to late Samson Adebisi Ojikutu (Snr), the suspect’s husband who died in 2008 was sold by him in 1995 and the suspect was a life witness and appended her signature to the sale of the land,” the police said.

“The suspect further perpetrated the crime by alleging that the original C of O to the property was missing and swore and affidavit which enabled her obtain a Police Report and Memorandum of Loss.

“She also put up an advert in newspapers that the original C of O is lost whereas the original C of O is with Hallmark Homes, the buyer of the property,” the police added in their statement.

Jumped police bail
Mrs. Ojikutu, 67, served as deputy governor of Lagos State between 1992 and 1993 before the Sani Abacha led military coup truncated the democratic governance.

The police said that she connived with her son, Samson Adebisi Ojikutu, who is currently in the USA, to commit the fraud.

“She (Mrs. Ojikutu) admitted the crime but confessed that it was a genuine mistake of plot identification,” said the police.

“She refunded the sum of N50 million to the complainant and promised to refund the balance as soon as she disposed her two properties she put up for sale.

“She also confessed that she had injected the complainant’s money in her business.”

The police further stated that Mrs. Ojikutu also made an undertaking and a payment plan was drawn up from September 2012 to November 2012.

The former deputy governor defaulted to the plan due to lack of fund, according to the police.

“Police further discovered that the suspect is not willing to abide by the terms of repayment. She jumped police bail and has been elusive. Frantic efforts have been made to re-arrest her which proved abortive,” said the statement.

“The Nigeria Police, Special Fraud Unit hereby declares Alhaja Sinatu Aderoju Ojikutu wanted. Anybody with useful information regarding her where about should report to the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit, 13 Milverton Road, Ikoyi.”

A retiree from Lagos Island, Mrs. Ojikutu hugged media headlines last April after a Lagos High Court ordered the state government to pay her all her retirement benefits and pension.

The Lagos State Government had stopped her entitlements after the House of Assembly enacted a law that stated that “a public office holder shall not be entitled to a grant of pension under this law if he was removed from office by the process of impeachment or for breach of any provision of the constitution.”

A source said on being questioned, Pastor Ngulube opened up and said he was indeed the one fingered in the prophecy. "He tried to deny the allegation but later came back to his senses and said he was the one in the prophecy," said the source.

It is reported that Pastor Ngulube also revealed that all the women he had bedded fell pregnant. On hearing the news, the church's elders were left with no choice but to expel him.


The source said that the husbands of the women that Ngulube claimed to have impregnated were summoned by the church's elders and had the shameful news broken to them.

Contacted for comment, Pastor Ngulube said he was sorry. "I feel bad and I want to say I am very sorry for what I did. If I could be given another chance I wouldn't repeat the mistake. I also welcome the punishment that the church leaders gave me."

A lawyer who abandoned his practice to lead a deadly armed robbery gang met his doom recently when his gang was busted by men of the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State command.

The lawyer, Babatunde Oretuyi was paraded with 11 other dare-devil armed robbers, who specialises in robbing their victims of exotic cars and other valuables like expensive phones, laptops.

The State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Indabawa, while parading the suspects, said the arrest of Babatunde and his gang followed their incrimination in the latest car snatching operation in Ogbomoso and other towns in some neighbouring states .com learnt.


CP Indabawa said thorough investigation by men of the State Anti Robbery Squad specifically incriminated the lawyer as the main conduit for the disposal of the vehicles snatched by the deadly gang.

According to him, as at the last count, 11 of the recovered stolen cars were traced to Babatunde, who sold them to others who claimed to be car dealers.

Paraded alongside Babatunde are; Olabode Seun, 27; Oyeyipo Ayomide, 26; Olanrewaju Ayomide, 23; Olatide Oladapo, 37; Abiodun Abdul- Malik Ojulari, 32 and Afolabi Akeem, 30. The others are; Isaac Nwose, 42; Segun Adeyale, 39; William Asu Atta, 47; Patrick Ogah, 35 and David Umar, 39.

The police boss said on investigation, members of the syndicate who often killed anyone who resists them, said their confessions led to the arrest of the entire syndicate members.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old man, Daniel Kanjo, for allegedly killing his 24-year-old wife, Meno Kanjo, in Elemoro, Ajah area of the state.
According to police investigations, Daniel stabbed his wife to death after catching her making love to another man in a bush near their home.
According to a police source at Elemoro Divison, after stabbing his wife many times, the suspect also stabbed himself in the stomach and in the neck.

The suspect and the wife were thought to be dead, forcing the residents to call the police to evacuate the corpses

As policemen were packing the corpses to the mortuary, Daniel was, however, discovered to be breathing and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
The suspect, who had been discharged, told PUNCH Metro that the incident was the work of the devil.
He said he loved his wife dearly and never hit her prior to the incident, adding that when he caught her red-handed committing adultery, he lost control.
He said, “I am from Benin Republic but I have been living in Nigeria since 2001. I have two wives. My first wife has six children for me. However in 2010, I got married to Meno (the deceased) and we have a one-year-old child together.
“I am a bricklayer by vocation and I have never denied Meno of anything, even though she was a hairdresser and was making money. I was also faithful to her and showed her love.”
Narrating what transpired on the fateful day, the suspect said he came back from work in the afternoon and needed to collect something from the deceased.
He said as he was looking for her in the house, he was drawn by sounds emanating from a nearby bush.

He said, “When I heard the sound coming from the bush, I moved near and saw my wife having sex with a strange man. As I moved closer, the man saw me and ran away. But I was able to grab my wife and I gave her the beating of her life.
“I did not know what came over me, but I took a knife and stabbed her all over her body. Before I realised what happened, the devil also pushed me to stab myself. I stabbed myself in the stomach and also slit my throat.”
Daniel said some of his neighbours, who were drawn by the noise, started beating him up when they saw his wife on the ground.
He said, “After stabbing myself, I was still moving on the floor although I was weak. Some people came around and started beating me, saying that I must die too since I had killed my wife. They beat me up and took photographs. When I woke up, I found myself in the hospital.”
The suspect urged the police to release him as he was not himself when he was committing the crime. He said if he was sent to prison, his children would suffer.
He said, “My first born is 13 years old while my youngest child is a year old. I pay their school fees and I am responsible for their upkeep. If I am sent to prison, they will all suffer.”
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Damasus Ozoani, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”
