61  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / We want only justice –Family of killed boy on: 18-06-2013 06:11AM

Emotions ran high at number 9, Oyebola Close, Ikorodu, Lagos on Monday after a delegation of senior police officers visited the family home of Timilehin Ebun, a nine-year-old boy who was killed by a police stray bullet at the Mile 12 end of Ikorodu Road last Thursday.

The policemen, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Damilola Adegbuyi, condoled with the family over the incident.

However, the family demanded only one thing; justice.

A relative, Mr. Adebanjo Adebunmi, who spoke amid tears, said although Timilehin could not be brought back to life, the family was determined to pursue the case to a logical conclusion.

He said, “We are all parents and we know how we would feel if this happened to us. I want to assume that the gunshot was not deliberate but the fact remains that he was shot. If he (Timilehin) was sick and died, we would not mourn this much.

“However, he was playing game in his father’s car and was in a happy mood when all of a sudden he was shot dead in the presence of his parents. I believe in this country, including the police. I know the police have problems but I still believe justice can be done.

“However, if at the end, we do not get justice, we shall leave it to God who is the ultimate giver of justice. All we want for our son is justice.”

Our correspondent, observed Timilehin’s parents, Olusegun and Funke, crying intermittently.

Funke kept muttering, “Timilehin, Timilehin, oh my God!”

Olusegun told the police that he wanted his son’s corpse released to him as soon as possible so that it could be buried immediately.

He said the longer the corpse remained in the mortuary, the more difficult it was to get over Timilehin’s death.

Olusegun said his other son, Jide, who was inside the vehicle when Timilehin was killed, was traumatised by the incident.

He said, “I want my son’s corpse released to me as soon as possible so that we can go on with the burial. We had gone to pick up my son, Jide from the airport when Timilehin was killed inside the car on our way back.

“Jide, who schools in Canada, has been traumatised since the incident because he had always been scared of coming to Nigeria because of security challenges. As if to prove him right, the night he returned to the country, his younger brother was killed by policemen in his presence.”

Olusegun said there was the need to for them have a change of orientation.

He said whenever people were killed by policemen; there was always the tendency to cover up the crime.

“I have lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, Norway and even Canada. The way policemen behave in those countries is nothing compared to Nigeria. Here, a policeman cocks his gun and is ready to fire even before listening to you,” he said.

Adegbuyi, who was accompanied by the Area H commander, Kehinde Longe; Divisional Police Officer, Ketu, Umar Justin; Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide; and the police chaplain, Paul Omotosho, said they were sent by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, and the Commissioner of Police for the state command, Umar Manko.

He said there would be no cover-up, adding that the police team accused of killing Timilehin had been transferred to the SCID.

He said, “I am sorry for what has happened and we are also sorry for not coming here before now. The policemen are in my custody as we speak and I promise you that no sinner will go unpunished. We are all parents and I say that anyone who attempts to cover this crime will also lose his or her own children.

“The DPO, Pen Cinema, who was accused of killing a protester has been charged to court and is facing the music. No one is above the law. On behalf of the IG, I promise you that justice will be done.”

62  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Teen BEHEADS Father After He Repeatedly Raped Her on: 18-06-2013 06:09AM

Community leaders are protecting a teenager accused of beheading her father after he repeatedly raped her in their Papua New Guinea village from the police, according to reports.

The Post-Courier reported that an 18-year-old woman allegedly cut off her father's head in their Western Highlands home on the night of June 11 while the girl's mother and his three other children were away visiting relatives, the Agence France-Presse (AFP) notes. The man had allegedly raped the young girl repeatedly. The girl reported the incident to community leaders, who believe she was justified in the killing, the report states.

“The father wanted to rape his daughter again in the morning inside the house and that was when the young girl picked up the bush knife and chopped her father's head off,” Pastor Lucas Kumi said. Later adding, “The daughter did what she did because of the trauma and the evil actions of her father so that is why we have all agreed that she remains in the community."

The police, however, want to question the teen.

"A crime has allegedly been committed," police spokesman Dominic Kakas told the Australian Associated Press (AAP) Monday. "But a murder is a murder, it is a matter that will be investigated."

Violence against women is high in Papua New Guinea. The U.S. Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) cites a 2008 report from The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) that states the country as a whole has one of the world’s highest rates of sexual violence. Eight percent of the women in the country have been raped, "but this number is likely low due to underreporting," the report notes

66  Forum / The Buzz Central / Details Of Why Tade Ogidan Beat His Wife on: 17-06-2013 08:34PM
So what really happened? Here is what Mr Tade Ogidan told .Com source:

"Thanks for your concern. I just got back to Lagos from a trip abroad. It was Friday night in London that my phone started to ring off the hook with the news of this publication.

Anyone who knows me near well enough or even well enough will know that I CAN NEVER HIT A WOMAN. It just cant happen! If anyone ever upset me, i simply walk away or take a drive.

A friend of my woman whom they've been in rivalry from school days did that to mess her up. I only arrived to start to get a fairly clear gist of how this came to be. Yewande didn't post the document. In fact, she's been inconsolable since this publication. She is been crying endlessly. She is lost for what to do.

This is what happened:
Yewande is like a tomboy. She can play rough. We were all in my office, the day after Children's day. I have been quite busy at work because of the reality show we are working on. That means I am not home everyday. Our major location is far along the Ajah axis; far from my home.

Yewande and the kids came to spend time with me in the office. When it was late, no NEPA, and there attempts to get the gen working [failed], she was ready to go home with the kids.

My little 5 year old girl was screaming that she didnt want to leave yet. Her mother insisted. The little girl ran into my office and shut the door to prevent her mom from taking her. I told Yewande to give her time. You know how mothers can be with their kids.

She insisted that they should leave as she didnt want to drive late. I blocked the door so she can give the girl a reprieve. She was playfully pulling me off the door. She does things like that all the time. She lost her grip and staggered into that three seater wrought iron chair in the open office. She obviously hit the ridge of her nose on the steel arm of that chair. The cut was managed.

She models and had obviously taken a photo of her face, for posterity (something to laugh at another time). One of her old school friends, with whom she's had rivalry from school days, stole the photo from another friend of hers and went viral with that damaging story. The obvious intention is to mess her up.

Sadly, one is caught in the firing line. This has created such a stress for her, our family, my workers, my friends, and most especially me.  You can imagine me having to spend time to explain this to everyone who knows me and finds this strange! Painfully for me, there are just so many people that I can attempt to explain this to.

She was quite worried that she's been running all over to ask how to manage this. Before I got back from the trip, she gave an explanation to another friend of hers to publish on the site that first sent out the false story.

Everybody is trying to manage her, so she wont affect her health from the outcome of this. That is what happened. I HAVE NEVER HIT A WOMAN, AND I JUST CANT. I counsel people who have issues and they respect me greatly for the wisdom I bring to the table. People in and outside this society hold me in high regard. I am ALWAYS mindful of anything I do anywhere.

This is a major distraction for me as I spend quality time to explain the situation to all who reach out to me (from all over the world).

Thanks for reaching out."

Hope you guys now know that the man is not a monster and didn't beat his wife as had been alleged?

67  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SEE The Taxi driver That Found about 35 Million naira in his car on: 17-06-2013 03:59PM

A taxi driver hit the jackpot when he realized that about $220,000 was left in his car, but he returned it all.

The taxi driver’s honesty shone as bright as the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. Adam Woldemarim found nearly a quarter million dollars when cleaning his car and returned it.

A passenger who allegedly forgot his black laptop case filled with $221,510 in winnings from Wynn in Las Vegas. Woldemarim, 42, of Ethiopia, brought the money to the security office of the taxi company.

"That's not my money," he told the news media, explaining why he would not have felt justified keeping the money for himself. He continued to work for about an hour, when he was called back to the office.

A young man contacted the taxi company claiming the money. The man gave Woldemarim a $2,000 reward, reported the local newspaper. Although Woldemarim was happy he did not expect any bonus that night. His friends are not that impressed with what they see as a miserable reward.

"That's all?" asked a fellow driver. "How about 10 percent, at least? That's $20,000!" But another of Woldemarim’s friends, Alex Alebachew believes the decency of Woldemarim alone can help to challenge stereotypes about immigrants.

"A lot of people think foreign taxi drivers abuse tourists or are only here to cause problems and do not belong here," lamented Alebachew. "You never see the good side of us, the honest side."

69  Forum / The Buzz Central / SCANDAL! Nollywood Actress Gives Birth To Baby, No Father on: 17-06-2013 03:39PM

Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Liz Da Silva has just delivered a baby boy at a Lagos hospital, located in the Surulere area of the state. The actress and her baby are doing fine!

However, a source on ground told .Com that no man has agreed to come to her at the hospital to claim paternity for the child, leaving the hospital staff, particular some of the older nurses to wonder if the baby's father had traveled, but the actress could not answer their questions...

The source say Liz simply asked the doctor when she would be discharged from the hospital, saying "I think am strong enough, when will I go?"

Months back, she had tried to give the pregnancy to three different men that she had slept with on different occasions but her tricks failed as each of the men said they are not responsible for her pregnancy and it seems the guys were somehow aware that they are not the only ones taking her to bed.

Liz was said to have told a those close to her that she will return home and keep silent about the father of her baby, saying she hold no one any apology.

One of the men who she earlier tried to give the pregnancy to, a Lagos big boy, was said to have told her point blank that he used condoms with her and as such could not be the father of her child.
70  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Man Catches Wife On Their Matrimonial Bed With Another Man In Jos on: 17-06-2013 03:18PM

A middle aged housewife in Jos, the Plateau State capital is in trouble after she was caught in her matrimonial bed with another man by her husband.

The woman simply identified as Gloria was caught with a neighbour, a father of three who lives some houses away from the couple when the husband returned unexpectedly at their Rukuba Road residence.

The husband (names withheld) who sells clothes at the Old Bukuru Park was said to have barely left home for his business when his wife invited her man-friend, identified simply as George to come around as she was sick.

According to a neighbour who was with her when she made the call and begged to be anonymous, Gloria told the man friend to buy a pack of Don-Simon and a plate of pepper soup when coming.

The neighbour said: “She earlier complained of being ill. I heard her when we were sitting in front of the house telling the person on phone to bring a plate of pepper soup and a drink for her, although I never knew it was her man-friend.

“When he came they went out to the woman who sells pepper soup and bought the whole pot. She told me to help her take care of the kids because she had a visitor.”

Probably acting on a tip off, the husband returned home earlier than expected and caught her and her lover red handed.

According to the husband, “I built a shop for her to sell provisions, so I went to the market to buy protectors to be fixed in the shop. I just came back to realise that the kids were outside and the door locked.

“When I knocked she refused to open the door. Some neighbours who saw her and the man told me she was in with somebody, so I raised alarm.

“Instead of her to open the door, she opened the ceiling for him to enter and hide. Fortunately, with time a lot of people gathered and an elderly man from my village, who saw what the incident would have resulted to called the police. She opened the door when the police came to the house, and the man friend came down from the ceiling wearing boxers. This marriage has come to an end.”

The man and the woman were taken away by the police for ‘safe custody’ and were later released on bail.

Also speaking with Vanguard the wife of the culprit said the rumour of her husband’s illicit affair with their neighbour had been on for some time.

“I have heard severally that my husband has been engaging in extra-marital affairs with this woman; I went to her house and told her to leave my husband alone, but she refused. God has finally disgraced her”, she said.

She added that she had asked her husband for money earlier that day but he claimed not to have money.

“I asked him for money because I felt sick, but he refused to give me saying he was broke”

A Maiduguri based businessman (name is not disclosed for security reasons) on Thursday turned in his biological son, a member of Boko Haram, to the Joint Task Force, JTF, with an order that he should be shot dead, witnesses said.

The son, according to close family sources, had once threatened to kill his father before he fled home and returned only recently; as security operatives continue to clamp down on the sect me. He was said to have returned as a prodigal son, seeking asylum in his father’s compound.
“After confessing all his crimes including how he participated in the killing of people and looting of banks to his father, the old man said he has no such conscience to keep a killer son in his home,” said the family member under anonymity.
The 60-year old Kanuri man who lives in Babban-Line Commercial Area, Maiduguri, simply approached the Sector Office of the JTF and told them about his son.

Witnesses quoted him as saying, “This boy is my son; he is a confirmed member of Boko Haram and has killed many people, he too should be killed too.”
In a dramatic twist, as the young man attempted to flee from the soldiers to whom his father handed him over, he was shot at and struck down by a bullet. He later died. His father, who was yet to completely leave the scene simply turned around, looked at the writhing body of his son on the ground and said, “Masha Allah” meaning, “To God be the glory.”
Before he was handed over to the soldiers, the young man was said to have revealed to his father and family members that he possessed two cars and had millions of naira buried somewhere near his family home. But thefather said he had no interest in the ill-gotten assets and has no intentions of inheriting them according to Islamic laws as they are ‘haram’.

73  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SEE How These Filling Station Armed Robbers Were Nabbed on: 17-06-2013 02:50PM

If Sunday Ayogu and Kenneth Kingsley had known that their robbery operation could be botched, perhaps they would have experienced a rethink. Nevertheless they didn't and now they're cooling their heels in police custody. How made it happen happen?

Residents of Igboeze in Igbo Eze North Local Government Section of Enugu State were recently raised from their deep sleep by shouts of ‘Nyere m aka, Oye oshi'(Help! thief) from one of its residents.

The voice later turned out to be that of a filling station manager. On that fateful Wednesday, June 5, 2013, two suspected robbers stormed his residence and demanded for several he had. The suspects had scaled the fence of the home and forcefully gained entry into the main sitting room downstairs before they made their method to his bedroom where he was reportedly sleeping along with his wife and children.

Upon locating their prime target, the 2 suspected robbers, identified as Sunday Ayogu and Kenneth Kingsley, didn't waste time: they reportedly demanded for all the money in the whole building at gun point.

Not wanting to tempt the robbers, the man reportedly went to his wardrobe and handed over N250, 000 to them. The robbers were not through with their mission, though. After the man had reportedly handed over the total amount for them, the 2 robbers stilled demanded for some personal aftereffects of the man and his wife, that they got. Once they certainly were satisfied with their loot, the robbers headed for the rooms downstairs and this gave the victim chance to improve the alarm and cry for help.

As fate might have it, a vigilance group was some metres far from the house. The vigilance group then reportedly communicated to their colleagues in other places for reinforcement.

While the robbers rushed back upstairs apparently in a reaction to the alarm raised by the house owner, the vigilance team outside already surrounded the whole building.

They thus started initially to communicate for them to surrender themselves as they'd nowhere to go again. Ultimately, the vigilance group, with about 24 members, successfully talked the robbers into giving themselves up. Recovered from the suspects were five suspected stolen telephone handsets, one long machete, a long cut to size locally made gun and the amount of N197, 000.

During interrogation by the vigilance group, Ayogu claimed that their mission wasn't to harm the victims but to look for what they would eat. “We felt when we stumbled on the house, we'd manage to see what will sustain us for some time.

But we never knew it'd turn out this way,” Ayogu was quoted as saying. Kingsley on his part claimed Ayogu dragged him into robbery and that he never told him where they certainly were going that night.

Kingsley, who claimed he was students of a tertiary institution in the state, later confessed that he was driven into robbery by his resolve to boost money for his education. Person in the vigilance group, Mazi Eze, said that town had been thrown into confusion within the last two months by nefarious activities of robbers.

“We adult members of the community had to take our personal and families'destinies into our hands when men of the underworld suddenly turned their attention to the area. Had we not have been some alertness on our part these two young boys might have carried out the crime and vanished into thin air,” he said. Ebere Amaraizu, Enugu State Police Command spokesman, in a chat, said that investigation to the crimes is going on but added that the 2 suspects could be made to manage the total wrath of what the law states at the conclusion of it.

78  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Robbery Is More Honourable Than Prostitution - Female Suspect on: 17-06-2013 07:01AM
Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old woman, Anita Ekechukwu, her brother, Sunday Ekechukwu; and three others -, Benedict Nwadike, Emmanuel Ochi, also known as General and George Emmanuel, aka Force Man - for armed robbery.

The suspects were arrested while robbing bureau de change operators of millions of naira. Narrating how the suspects operated, a source at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad said:

Anita Ekechukwu would pose as a customer and convince the bureau de change operator to enter a vehicle with her only to rob him.

“Anita would go to a bank and say she wanted to buy foreign currency knowing well that banks do not sell foreign currency to just anyone. The bankers would introduce her to a bureau de change operator and they would establish contact. Later, she will call them for a huge transaction in a vehicle.

“When the victim enters the vehicle, her colleagues would come in another vehicle, abduct the victim, rob him of his money at gunpoint and then throw him out of the vehicle.”

Anita, her brother and others were arrested while trying to rob one Sanusi of $80,000 (N12.8m).

The police source said the robbers operated around a bank in Lekki and had boarded their vehicle when policemen intercepted them.

He said, “They organised another operation. Already police were aware that the gang was about to operate around the area. The robbers had abducted their victim, when the police swooped on them and arrested them. The robbers then revealed the location of the others. The police recovered the money collected from the victim.”

While answering questions, Anita Ekechukwu said she took to robbery because of unemployment, adding that it was more honourable than prostitution. “I am a member of the gang but we do not operate with gun. I am from Owerri, in Imo State. I am unemployed but I live at Lekki with my elder brother, Sunday, who is a building contractor.

“I joined the gang because I could not secure any reasonable employment. I joined the gang this year and I was given the telephone number of a bureau de change operator. I told him I wanted to buy $30,000. The next day, he sent his brothers who brought the dollars. I then told the man that we were going to a bank where I would pay him the naira equivalent. On the way to the bank, we collected the money from the man and pushed him out of the vehicle.”

Another suspect, Ochi, who is about 24 years old, claimed he was a student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State. He said his dream was to join the Nigeria Police but it was unclear if he would still be enlisted following his arrest.

He said, “My role in the gang is to push the victim out of our vehicle but I am always careful so that he will not fall and hit his head against a stone or hard object.

“I am a student of Olabisi Olabanjo University, Ogun State and I am in 300 level studying Crime Investigation. I intended to enlist in Nigeria Police Force when I graduate. I want to become a police detective.

On his hope of realising his life ambition to become police detective after graduation, now that he had been arrested he said, “It is God that will decide. If I regain my freedom I will stand a chance. Even if I am jailed, I may get state pardon. Everything depends on God.”

You read some stories and all you can do is shake your head. According to this story from Nigerian Tribune, a Kaduna based successful business man named Alhaji Habu (pictured right in hospital after being stabbed) invited Kabiru (pictured left) to his home, where he proceeded to drug his tea and have sex with him. Kabiru claimed he was initially too weak to fight him off when Alhaji Habu penetrated him but eventually managed to gain enough strength to get the man he called 'uncle' off him, using a knife.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Habu is telling a different story. He claimed Kabiru came to his house and asked to spend the night, and in the middle of the night Kabiru tried to rob him and attacked with him a knife. The first explanation sounds more plausible. Read the full story after the break.
From Nigerian Tribune

It is a sad story, a frightening betrayal of family trust. To many, it’s something that defies logic, because no one has ever seen a male dog, despite its high libido, doing such a thing with another male dog. For the fact a man was involved in it, and in a highly cosmopolitan city like Kaduna where all kinds of women abound who could have served that purpose for a fee, or even for free depending on how persuasive one could be, many are now disturbed. The thinking in many quarters is that, perhaps, the people of the biblical Sodom and Gomorrah are gradually reincarnating in the crocodile city.
For Hajiya Fati, it’s a sad tale to tell, but considering the degree of betrayal, she was prepared to go to any length to seek justice for her son who was allegedly sedated, sodomised and blackmailed by a businessman who hitherto was highly respected and revered by neighbours in the elitist Malali area of Kaduna metropolis.
Amid sobs, she prayed that such a thing would never happen again to any family, and hoped against hope that the dirty act would not be revealed to her ailing husband, the father of her son, Kabiru, who is now coping with the sad and painful experience he suffered in the hands of a close and trusted family friend – a man who had once played with him on his laps as a baby, but who would one day turn into a sex predator, forcefully gaining entry into his anal region after drugging him with a hot tea.
Narrating his ordeal, Kabiru, who appears to be in his early 30s, said he was invited by Alhaji Habu to his Malali house and was offered food to eat. After the meal, he vomited because he was not feeling well. According to him, his host offered him tea, which he drank and immediately, he fell asleep in the house, with no one around.
According to him, the tea, which he suspected was drugged, threw him into a state of illusion, but he felt it when Alhaji Habu allegedly penetrated him.
“He was already inside me and I tried to free myself, but my body was weak because of the tea. I gained a little strength and tried to push him aside, but he said he would give me whatever I wanted if I could cooperate. I saw a knife and rushed for it but he held my hand and slapped me, forcing me down. When I was able to grab the knife again, he held my hand, and in the struggle, I was wounded. I fought with the knife to free myself, screaming for help. It was late at night and when I was able to push the door and escaped, I screamed and some people came to help me. The police came from Malali Police Station and took us to the Garkuwa Hospital,” he recounted.
Kabiru said he had never involved in such abnormal sexual act, and expressed sadness that a person he called ‘uncle’ could do such a thing to him.
Hajiya Fati insisted there was no homosexual relationship between her son and one Alhaji Habu; but she maintained the suspect had been well known to the family since when Kabiru was a baby, and even married the sister of a close friend of hers.
“I was home sleeping, and around 2:00 a.m., the police came knocking. They said my son, Kabiru, had a fight with someone and that they were both in a hospital badly wounded. We rushed to the Garkuwa Hospital, and on sighting me, Kabiru said ‘Mama, look at what Alhaji Habu did to me’. I was terrified and dumbfounded because my son was in bad state, and something like water was dripping from his backside.
“Immediately, Alhaji Habu, who was bandaged due to knife cuts on his body, also said ‘Hajiya, look at what Kabiru did to me.’ He said my son came to his house to use his guinea brocade (kaftan) for a wedding ceremony and decided to pass the night. He said that in the night, he felt somebody stabbing him with a knife, and was even calling Kabiru to come to his aid, not knowing that it was Kabiru that was stabbing him.
“I asked him why he didn’t call me to inform me that Kabiru would be passing the night in his house. I said that even if Kabiru stayed late in his house, he should have asked him to leave, since in such (an elitist) area, one could not get a taxi or commercial motorcyclists at late hours. But he said it was my son who came to his house, ate the food he had cooked and vomited, drank tea afterward and decided to sleep in the house, not knowing that he came to rob him.”
She said she could not tell Kabiru’s father the sad story because he is old and very ill; expressing the fear that such a story might worsen his already bad situation.
“All I want is justice to take its course. My son cannot be blackmailed. He (Alhaji Habu) has betrayed trust and I can never forget this sad incident. The religion of Islam is against this kind of thing; the heaven and the earth shake anytime this sin is committed. It is a very bad thing. I must fight for my fundamental human rights,” she said.
It was gathered that Habu’s wife has since deserted the family home, having suspected that her husband was involved in an inappropriate relationship.
At the hospital where Alhaji Habu was receiving treatment, he told reporters that Kabiru was in his house to rob him and succeeded in wounding him with a knife. The reporters were, however, prevented from having a detailed interview with the suspect, based on ‘orders from above’.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state police command, DSP Aminu Lawan, said he was aware of the incident but that investigations were still going on to unravel what actually took place during the encounter.
