there is trouble in nigeria with this new anti-gay law..A lot of nigerians are too blinded by their prejudices to see it and its only going to get worst..The unfortunate thing is that the people that will bear the brunt of this barbaric law is the average man on the streets of lagos or abuja..The rich or politically connected will not be touched.Do you think any nigerian senator will dragged from their home to the streets and accused of being gay?..nigerians who were busy celebrating this law have no idea the problems that awaits them in the future because of this law...it is simple if you don't like somebody in nigeria or somebody offends you  accuse them of being gay and let  them be publicly harassed,,,

its shocking to see that there are so called intelligent people here who supports this barbaric action..the civil rights of women in the african continent is being violated and its celebrated by its citizens..........its shocking and appalling to me..people should be able to wear what they like and walk on the streets of their country without being harrassed..In a multicultural society like nigeria with different ethnic group and religious beliefs, there are going to be different dressing style that are unacceptable to some people. The mentality should be that we have to accept people for who they are ,eventhough we dont feel its right. The unforseen consequence of this attitudes is that anybody can wake tommorrow and appoach any lady regardless of what she is wearing and claim that its offensive...........SHAME ON AFRICANS AND ANYBODY WHO THINKS THIS IS O.K

really...there is no other side of the story..no real man treats women like this..imagine if this was your sister, mother or aunty, will you be looking for the other side of the story..men are physically stronger than women so its not even an even fight.I would like to think that in 2014,We can argue, agree or disagree without laying hands on anybody. That is the way it should be in a civilised society..

It is shocking the levels of ignorance among nigerians especially those in this forum..Why is it that every aspect of our life has to have a religious corrolation to it.Can't nigerians render an opinnion without referring to an out of dated book written thousands of years ago by who know who..Everything does not have to be about the bible or  the koran..Dress codes are promoted everywhere in the world by different employers. There  are employers who have a casual dress code approach and its works for them.I live in the united states  and where i work require a professional dress code and everybody kind of understand what that means.I think fashola went too far by explicitly describling some type of clothing worn by women and giving the impression that it was like an attack on women..he should have kept it simple..(dress professionally to work)

its time we stand up and save this country of ours from these old generation of so called leaders who have raped this country of its natural resources. For those of us who profess to love this country ,the time is now.In less enlightened countries around the world, the mere thought of a missing $20 billion dollars will have shut down that country and put people on the streets. Not in nigeria, because we are all cowards and are easily induced by financial means to compromise our principles..To the young people of nigeria(under 36 years of age)where do you see this country twenty years from now?. you are not going to have anything to pass on to your children and grand children yet unborn..Its no secret that our oil reserve will not last forever as population growth go unchecked. So this country of ours  is going to be unsubstainable with the leaders that we have who are hell bent on completely fleecing this country of all its natural resource. There was a time that politicians stole a little bit of money while in power, but today so called leaders are big time. The amount of money stolen by them is shocken..Nigerians  especially the younger generation needs to stand up even if it results in the loss of life..THIS IS OUR COUNTRY ...LETS SAVE IT..

until there a law in Nigeria that mandates that the children of governors, ministers ,senators and top government official  attend universities in Nigeria, all Nigerian universities will continue to look like this. This is not peculiar to any university in Nigeria.(they all look like this)..The leaders of our country don't care  because their children are not learning in this horrible environment. The minister for education should explain to Nigerians what happens to the billions budgeted by the government for the  education ministry every year. This extends also to the medical field...visit any university teaching hospital or state run hospital...Until government officials are mandated by law to use the hospitals in Nigeria and not run abroad every time a little thing happen to them and a ban is placed on their children schooling abroad, this is going to be the state of our universities...They just don't care....this is despite the fact that Nigeria is an oil producing country and there are billions budgeted every year for education

I live in the states and no nigerian man goes to nigeria and bring women into this country anymore because nigerian women are crazy..The moment they come in here and achieve a little finacial security they go crazy..The situation here is worst than has been reported...The reported ones are those that ends in deaths..The divorce rate among nigerian couple here is extremely high...you need to go to nigerian parties here and see the way nigerian women talk down to naija men ..its appalling..A lot of these women were a few years ago living in poverty in nigeria...These men spend their money to bring them in here and educate them. After they get a good job ,this men are now rubbish...The system favors them ,so they take advanage of it..To be fair ,not all nigerian women are like this, but most are...The nigerian women that are born here or came here as kids are surprisingly  more behaved..In america right now if you tell somebody that you are going to find a wife in nigeria, people will laugh at you....

I am completely disappointment at the lack of extreme outrage for issues like this in nigeria..There should be some punitive consequences against anybody who marries underage girls. This should also apply to the parents who willingly give their daughters to these old men for marriage. These arrangements are usually financially induced..its modern day prostitution.......Its a shame that its only gay marriage that gets nigerians excited when  a lot of children are molested every day...please get vocal and excited about stopping this nonsense and leave non-issues like two consenting adults violating themselves in the privacy of their home alone

Another opportunity for the nigerian police to oppress, molest  and extract  money from nigerians...You see nigerians are not that smart..The consequences of jumping up and supporting this gay law is that innocent non-gay nigerians are going to be subjected to harrassment...The people who will bear the brunt of this will be the ordinary law abiding nigerians walking on the streets of lagos....Like every behavioral control law enacted in most backward countries like nigeria, the rich and politically connected will not be affected......In  the not too distant future,we are going to be reading in this forum of how  some innocent persons were beaten or killed because somebody accused them of being gay..people will start accusing each other of been gay just to settle personl squabbles..Knowing nigeria ,once such accusations are made, the person is usually attacked before inquiries are even made to determine if its true or not............watch and see

Thank you for being concerned about the people of Nigeria but let me ask you  a question gentle man. It is true that Nigeria has numerous problem but are you implying that these problems will be solved if we support gay right? As a Nigerian, let me inform you that the majority of us prefer  eating  human feces  to being gay. Permit us to see differently. To us it is disgusting. This is why we are happy with our leaders for coming out boldly to let the world know our position on this matter.
am a nigeria too.firstly, nobody wants you to be gay and do not  eat human feces..whatever your stand on the whole gay issues is..you have to realised that it is a non-issue compared to the  overwhelming problem that has engulfed nigeria...That country is one big mess..lets get exited when there no more curruption ,no more asuu strike ,no more power failure, good road ,quality education and complete reduction in crime...These things and others are what we expect as achievements  from the president of an oil producing country....Until theses and others are fixed, lets not celebrate because banning gay marriage by GEJ is not an achievent. To majority of nigerians, you are still going to be faced with the same problems when you wake up in the morning tommorow whether gays can marry or not.....open your eyes

LMAOOOO I feel bad for each and every one of the daft idiots that support this mess. SERIOUSLY?? You guys are so concerned with what something that goes on in the privacy of someone's home? A country with loads of crude oil but not everyone has consistent light. A country where people are supposed to be bright but..the roads look the way that they do, adequate healthcare is not a thing of popularity. But people are jumping up and down over gay marriage? The basic needs of the majority are not met and you fools are dancing over gay marriage? LMAO!! People must really be dumb puppets. What the heck??? Nigeria will continue to be the laughing stock until people begin to use the brains that they have been given. What an embarrassment. There aren't enough people with access to clean water..and people are dancing and praising over gay marriage. The same government that you are praising treats you like second, third, fourth class citizens on your own land..and you are praising them. Ignorance is indeed bliss. Good for you guys..keep praising it..and literally sit in the dark and get sick from the symptoms of the common cold..while they fly themselves out of the country for good healthcare and send their children to schools that do not fall subject to strikes. Nonsense! Like...how slow can people be!?!?!?!Please...stop blaming the government for your misfortunes. You are the ones that are continuously taking the bait. If you really fall for this stuff...you deserve every dumb thing that happens to you. LOL..this is the laugh that I have needed all day! A country with crude oil and no light has no basis to stand on...and that is why people will continue to laugh at Nigeria.
..
RIGHT ON POINT......... ..I AM SHOCKED AT AT THE LEVEL OF IGNORANCE OF NIGERIANS AND PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM..SERIOUSLY IS THIS  WHAT YOU GUYS ARE EXITED ABOUT?...SO NOW  THAT THE LAW IS SIGNED ALL THE PROBLEMS IN NIGERIA HAS DISAPPEARED ...RIGHT?..WHEN THERE ARE SERIOUS PROBLEMS AFFECTING YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE YOU ARE WASTING YOUR ENERGY ON THIS

in the name of religion people will do whatever they are instructed to do...this applies to anybody who have decided to beleive in any form  of organised religion.this includes a lot of the people posting their opposition here to this barbaric act..You see religion is a cult and people do whatever they are told to do when in a cult..In nigeria a few years ago ,a bunch of northerners rose up and attack their neighbors because of religion..These were neighbors that they had lived side by side and peacefully together for years and their children grew up together. In  a minute religious difference changed  all of the peaceful coexistence  between them ..I have a solution...A  WORLD WITHOUT RELIGION..look around the world in the last 10 to 20 years, every single conflict has  a religious connection  to  it..,sudan,rwanda,bosnia,nigeria,palestinian and israelis,afghanistan..the list goes on..
