Quote from: Dan_Fulani on 21-12-2011 07:02 PM

Loss of accreditation for our medical schools should be a very serious matter.
It means that the quality of medical education in those universities are below
standard. It means that the training that local doctor got is inferior. It is not
the fault of the students or the professors or even the University. It is the
refusal of the governments to fully fund the universities.

This should be a wake up call to our leaders to stop the corruption, money grab,
and support our higher education.
Nigeria spend the lowest percentage of GNP on education of any major country
in Africa. Ghana and South  Africa spend more money on education than Nigeria.
As long as Nigerian leaders refused to provide adequate funding for higher
education, the medical education will continue to suffer. Soon other nations will
follow UK's lead and reject our doctors. South Africa may do so soon.

This is one reason why Nigerian leaders go overseas for medical service. They
know what they created at home. Our current leaders are just determined to
ruin our country for personal gains. A senator's annual compensation (salary
plus benefits) is enough to fund a medical school in Nigeria. Add the stolen
money to that, you can build and equip two specialist hospitals.

Dan, it is NOT only the fault of the government but a chain reaction: The Government, the Students and the Lecturers. Some of these students are not really intelligent to study medicines but their rich parents bought the admission of poor brilliant kids at the expense of the nation. Most lecturers sold copy and paste handouts instead of up-to-dated research materials, Cultisms, lack of seriousness on the part of some students, etc. etc.

IT IS A CORRUPT SYSTEM AT-ALL-LEVELS

84  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / IGBOS AND THEIR LOVE: America with love for Anambra community on: 26-07-2012 11:11 PM
Umuoji, a quiet, sub-urban community with a difficult terrain and a near-impassable road network in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State had a cause to rejoice recently.

As early as 8am, women in the community in their thousands from different villages and clans within the community had converged at the Abor Health Centre, venue of the free medical treatment organized by the Anambra State Association in the United States of America, popularly known as ASA Women, USA. The event, which doubled as a free medical treatment to the local aged women and an awareness campaign against cancer, witnessed a tremendous turnout.

Speaking at the Abor Health Centre/Clinic, Umuoji, Secretary General of the group, Mrs. Josephine Onor said the free medical treatment was part of ASA Women, USA's efforts to get medical care to the grassroots in different parts of the country and Anambra State in particular. She said the essence was to provide medical assistance to the women of Umuoji, adding that the exercise was also to give free maternal care as well as Bosom  and cervical cancer checks on the women which she said had posed great danger to many women.

She said the programme was being done in collaboration with the Anambra State government and other international and individual donor agencies, stressing that the exercise would afford the women the opportunity to benefit from the free awareness campaign on the best way to handle medical problems.

"We also provide free educational services. That is preventive health, because prevention they say is better than cure. Once people have information on how to care for their bodies from hair to toe, the problem of health will be minimized," she said.

On the prevention of the dreaded Bosom  and cervical cancer, Mrs. Onor said when the women, especially the rural women, are educated on the dangers associated with the prevalence of cancer, they would on their own try to prevent the scourge.

The traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Cyril Enweze while addressing the women at the health centre urged them to maximize the free exercise by subjecting themselves to medical checks. Igwe Enweze also maintained that the free medical health was very paramount in the rural areas where rural dwellers do not have access to medical care, adding that the visit by the ASA women was very important now that the people needed it most.

He also attributed the large turnout of the women of the community to what he called proper and aggressive awareness campaign carried out in the community which he said was anchored on the need for the women to participate fully in the exercise. He urged the women to maintain discipline during and after the free medical exercise even as he thanked the organisers for the free medical care.

A women leader, Mr. Mary Ojukwu also described the free medical exercise as very critical to the need of the women of the community, adding that it has further afforded them the opportunity to get more information about the health challenges staring the women in the face. Mrs. Ojukwu further challenged the women to put the lessons learnt from the exercise to use and avoid possible causes of sicknesses around their homes.

Said she: "The exercise will give us the opportunity to access immediate care for our health problems as well as equip us more on the preventive health care so that the avoidable deaths being recorded in the rural communities would be reduced to its barest minimum."

Also speaking, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Nkolika Ilodinuno said the message came to the community as a thunderbolt, disclosing that she had to come out to access the drugs because it was free.

"Many of us cannot afford to buy the drugs which they gave us here today, and that was why we saw it as a lifetime opportunity to benefit from this exercise since it is not done every time. So we are happy. And as you can see, it is free for everyone," she said.

The 78 year old widow prayed for the success of the facilitators of the programme, even as she urged other wealthy individuals within and outside the country to put more attention to the medical care of their people.  The exercise also included free medical checks on the women, among which was free high blood pressure check and a number of other checks on the women.

In Imo State, Governor Rochas Okorocha gave not only Free Education to the pupils, they also receive school allowance as obtainable in the civilized societies, while the Northern Leaders carry the Oil money and put in their pockets and allow Mallams and their citizens to come to them (Alhajis) homes for their breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of showing them how to fend for themselves through education.

NORTHERNERS ARE PAIN IN THE ASS.

NEVER VOTE A NORTHERNER IN POWER. South have those who had dedicated their lives and services to Nigeria. Shop candidates in Yoruba lands and Eastern Nigeria in general, or we stay with GEJ, whether Northerners likes it or not. They have destroyed Nigeria enough from 1960. All they could achieve is to CRUMBLE all the countries establishments from Price Control Board to cancellation of the best ever held election in Nigeria.

91  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Yes, Nigerian women are unfaithful - Poll on: 26-07-2012 08:59 AM
After the publication of the report of the survey conducted by international condom manufacturer, Durex, revealing that Nigerian women are the most unfaithful in the world, as 62 per cent of participants in the survey admitted cheating on their spouses, the Nigerian Tribune conducted an opinion poll on our website; www.tribune.com.ng, to gauge Nigerians' reactions to the report. However, the poll conducted by the newspaper confirmed the result of the survey as out of the 1,377 people who participated in the exercise 704 (51.1 per cent) voted 'yes', 618 (44.9 per cent) voted 'no', while 55 (4 per cent) voted 'indifferent'.

Again, the question was posted on our Facebook page where respondents were able to express their opinions on the issue. Excerpts.

Winjobi Samuel Oluwafunmibi: O gush...this is a shame to Nigerian women.

Alademehin Felix Oluwaseun: It depends on individuals, my wife is faithful to me.

Chucks Nwanneka: Don't think is true unless some of the unfaithful ones that I know. For some reasons all are not the same irrespective of their financial predicament most of them are still on their feet as married women.

Kristoffa Emmanuel Emmanex: Yeah, I agree with dat (that) simply bcos (because) our nowadays girls or women betray their lovers if they c (see) anoda (another) comfortable man 4 d (for the) love of money.

David B Peter: Strongly disagree...d (the) so called "white" are d most unfaithful bcos (because) d (the) rate of divorce over there is much higher dan (than) ours.

Shodipo Oluwatoyin: Yes becos (because) all they know and want is money.

Olukemi Mary: I disagree, becos (because) it's not all d (the) married women that are not faithful to their husbands.

Ademola Segun Adesoji: I believe it is true bcos (because) some tym (time) ago an incident occurred in my town a married woman told her husband when they were fighting that he was not the biological fada (father) of deir (their) children. Imagine!

Olanrewaju Ayejuyo: Women desire for sex and Money is too high in Nigeria.

Tijani Hammed Olalekan: I do not agree. Despite the fact that it is common among most of Nigerian married women that shud (should) not make them the first in the whole world!

Agona Obembe: It takes two to tango. The men these women are unfaithful with are themselves unfaithful. So mathematically the ratio is 1:1. So, Nigerian men are (also) rated as world's most unfaithful men period.

Sanjo Adesegun: I agree with dis (this) fact bcos (because) d (the) rate at which Nigerian women engage in extra marital affairs outside their wedlock is increasing.

Steve Aderemi: I totally disagree. Who did the rating anyway? I recommend anybody desiring a good wife to marry a Nigerian. I'm proud of Nigerian women!

Obajimi Olamilekan Ibrahim: Women where are you? Defend yourselves. For some segxwal immorality is dia (their) problem.

Ogedengbe Muhammed Sikiru: It's a lie.

Obajimi Olamilekan Ibrahim: Condition of 9ja (Nigeria) has let our woman lose dia (their) dignity. From school experience, high school fees turn girls to prostitutes and guys to cultists and armed robbers. Now how do you want ds (this) ppl (people) to be faithful?

Adegbayemu Babalola: What criteria did they use?

Oluwakemi Aluko Ayinde: Who is faithful now in the whole world? Anyway maybe they think so bcos (because) Nigeria had been rated as the most corrupt country. But believe it or not we still have many faithful women in this country.

Hakeem Oyetunji: Some stupid men caused it, they can't help a young girl for free

Ibitomi Opeyemi Elias: Where did they get this finding from?

Olawuyi Funmi: Judge no one" says the Lord.

Okerinde Peter: Which city did they pick as sample? Their conclusion is faulty!

Bankole Stephen: Oluyemi Its d (the) condition of d (the) country dat (that) caused it...but my wife is faithful to me ooo.

Ruth Chollom: Who said so and where did they get this information from please be sure of what you are saying before you tell the whole world.

Kehinde Valentine Afolabi: Agreed. If you woo 50 women in a day at least 40 will consider you Five of those that refused may be afraid that you may know their husbands.

Wale Oduniyi Ariya: They might think so but it might not be so but I am very sure that it is not every woman that is unfaithful and all this is being said against us in Nigeria all because of the present situation we are in.

Adisa Moshood Olaitan: I av (have) a faithful mum and a faithful wife. That's to tell u dat (that) most Nigerian women are faithful.

Aderibigbe Taoheed: My fiancée is faithful to me and my mother is faithful to my father.

Agona Obembe: Whoever reported this statistics has scored F9. Nigerian women are extremely faithful to their spouses even in the face of infidelity on their part. Come to think of it, have you considered the case of a man who has just lost his wife, he cries if at all with one eye open and the other eye sampling from among the mourners who to pick next. It is not so with women. They may never marry again after their spouses are gone.

Suleiman Abdulhakeem: That statement is not true at all, because most of Nigerian women are faithful. Don't look at the bad ones among them to judge.

Olisedeme Chinedu: But I have a faithful girl friend.

Ese Cecillia Otolorin Oresegun: Lie, we are the most decent though there might be a few who are unfaithful. I rate Nigerian married women 99 per cent faithful to their marital vows.

94  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / BOY SPENDS £60,000 ON SURGERY TO LOOK LIKE BRITNEY SPEARS on: 26-07-2012 07:41 AM

If this isn’t the definition of a devoted fan then we really don’t know what is. A Britney Spears fan has spent over £60,000 in a bid to look like the star. But the curious part is, this fan is a boy; or rather, was a boy.
Kara Hays, is a transsegxwal who used to be known as Kody Hays and underwent gender realignment surgery in 2002. Speaking on the sex change, she said “When you feel like you’re a girl living in a boy’s body and you try to change you want that validation that you look like a girl.”

Kara, (then Kody) had always felt like a girl, even showing up to a school party at the age of 12 dressed in a Britney Spears outfit. It wasn’t until he was 15, however, that his parents paid serious attention and took him to a doctor. He was diagnosed with gender dysphoria in 1999 and began taking female hormones which caused him to grow Bosom s after a couple of years after which he began to dress like a woman.

The real change, however, came in 2002 when Kara underwent a 14-hour gender alignment surgery, after which she has also undergone other procedures with the aim of looking more and more like Britney Spears.
“I viewed her as a very strong woman, everybody wanted to date her,” she said of her choice to model her looks after the star’s. “I focused on Britney and Christina Aguilera for my inspiration: they were the stars that were around when I was younger, they are who you looked up to.  Nowadays people have Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.”

“I was just thinking, I want to be a girl now, who do I emulate?” she said.
“I felt like I was put under a microscope though. I felt like I couldn’t have any form of scandalous situation because I was already a scandal in itself. It was almost like I went through puberty twice.”
