1  Forum / Politics / Re: IS YAR'ADUA SINCERELY COMMITTED 2 SOLVING THE NIGER DELTA CRISIS? on: 31-08-2008 07:04 PM
I agree that the President has only been there for a short period of time as some people will argue, so he is not expected to perform magic. But the first step to making people believe in your attempt to right a wrong is not by appointing someone that is known and rejected by the people because of his discredited history of standing when it comes to the niger-delta, what happens to a commission that comprises mostly of the niger-deltan leaders with someone from the West appointed as chairman instead? Gambari is the wrong person to chair that commission. And I don't think this president will even go half way to solving the niger-delta problem. the first step to solving niger-delta problem is for the government to start a massive scale project of building roads, schools, and hospitals in those regions, that way the people will be appeased and come to the negotiating table, we don't need no commission, we need money to be wholesomely spent on that region, the cow that produce the milk deserves a fair treatment.
2  Forum / Politics / Re: Best President Nigeria ever had on: 31-08-2008 06:49 PM
Nigeria has had some leaders who had the interest of the country at heart,, the problem has been the lack of trust that exist along tribal divide. For example Nnamdi Azikiwe and Tafawa Balewa both demonstrated that they had goodwill for the country, but the fear of domination by one tribe has been the bane of politics in Nigeria. For now I will say we have not had what can be described as best President, maybe by the time Nigeria outgrow the economics that revolve around government corridors, meaning the only quick way of getting rich is to be at the helms of government, and people start getting interested in politics and government knowing that it is not a way of getting rich, then we can start having men and women who want to serve for the love of the country and not their pocket
3  Forum / Politics / Re: Should Nigeria hand over Bakassi? on: 31-08-2008 06:41 PM
Honestly in my opinion, handling over Bakassi to Cameroon because of the ICJ decision is like going back 200 hundred years in history. These same white people came and divided Africa among themselves, use us and abuse our resources, and when they were done they gave us "independence". Now they are coming back to decide which land belong to whom. Cant Africans settle land dispute among themselves as they did long before the coming of the pale skin white man?, is there nothing like e referendum, where you let the people who actually reside on that portion of land decide by themselves which country they will belong to?
I don't get it, should Africa always be the only place that the ICJ decisions will be enforced. Russia has just decided that a part of Georgia should become their territory and one reason they gave is because the people occupying there want to Russians, where is the ICJ? they are on vacation.
Whatever the President decide to do with Bakassi and whatever past Presidents have done, they should remember that generations to come will look back and say of a truth these presidents were not great
4  Forum / Politics / Re: why Obama Cannot be the President on: 31-08-2008 05:53 PM
First of all, I don't understand what this moderator means by referring to Obama as a black man with questionable character. I think Barack can be president, and if he ends up not being president it will not be because some powerful white men refused him, it will because McCain's campaign tactics was very effective. If you monitored the 2004 presidentail election of Bush against Kerry, and you can still remember what happened, the same thing that happened to John Kerry is happening to Barack Obama right now. The Republicans have a way of dissecting the personality of their rival and using smear and fear tactics, which has been very effective for them, it is left for the Obama's campaign to figure out a way to fight back and they should do this not only by defending Obama, but also using any legal means to tear into McCain's personality just as the Republicans are doing. They should be able to convince the America people that Republicans are not the only party that can defend America, JFK was a great defender of America, likewise Roosevelt and all Presidents that have been, and the first duty of any President is too defend America.
Obama can be President and McCain know it, that is why he and his campaign are doing everything they can do to fight for this election.

I don't wanna comment on this because this guy did not take his time to write his topic properly. that's the same reason Nigerians like having kids, because after having one that is as stupid as you are, one would like to try again to have another one that's maybe not going to be stupid

I am  not thinking Nigeria will win, I know Nigeria will win not just out of patriotism, but by good football analysis. This team has demonstrated consistency from the first game, and they are very focus on the game, the Argentines are a very good side too, but we did it before in Atlanta 96, and history is about to be repeated.
