[my friend i have read ur previous post and now this one. Please if u can't get ur facts right, u should not confuse people with ur incoherent utterances. U said (The BBC baby-reporter forgot to add the history of the state and the nation at large and compare to the present situation of Lagos State.) Maybe u dont watch the BBC frequently, this year alone they have shown 5 different documentries of the good works of Gov. Fashola. So u want them to help hide the bad side of Nigeria. U said Britain records the highest number of car snatching, drug trafficking, prostitution etc. I wonder where u got ur ridiculous statistics. Infact I am appalled by ur comments.

I do not know where you watched the documentaries showing the good works of Fasola. The fact is that they do not broadcast good news as well as bad news and this is due to the fact that GOOD NEWS DOES NOT SELL IN JOURNALISM!! so they secetly say to themselves "let us go and bash those Nigerians again"and they come up with some crazy idea for a documentary.

The Lagos state and Nigerian Government are fools I am sorry to say. This is not the first time the BBC is showing Lagos and Nigeria in a bad light.
First a few years ago, it was LAGOS AIRPORT, then they showed the guys making a living from the DUMP and now this.
If you ask me I think they have run out of ideas on what to show from abroad and as such they go for the soft touch which is Lagos Nigeria.
There should be a way of regulating these foreign broadcasters. It is becoming boring and i'm getting fed up with these programmes!
They will not show the run down areas in their own communities.
Has any bothered to ask what the purpose of these programmes about Nigeria is - There may be a hidden agenda here!
Is Lagos the only city in world?. Is it worse than the the SLUMS in India and others in south Asia?
Yes we have problems in Nigeria but this is just disproportornate negative journalism trying to score a cheap point.
If Loius Theroux really wants to show how people live he should go and film in NORTH KOREA and see what will happen to him!
Yeye people BBC.

I am fed up with people blaming others for their problems. You cannot blame white people for problems you created for yourself. Corrupt Nigerian leaders are to blame for our woes. If the resources were equitably distributed the people will be better off and there will be NO NEED to want leave the country. Incredibly Nigerians used to travel abroad for holidays. Nobody wanted to stay there because conditions were better at home.

When you look at Nigeria, we have more resourses than many countries in Europe but they have a better standard of living because of greedy Nigerian leaders.
What the people need are just simple basic needs- water, light, good roads, petrol which we produce, education and security. Are these too much to ask for? and we have the resources to provide them. Also these needs are linked to sustainable investments which is essential for economic growth. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to realise this.
So lets not fool ourselves and blame anybody else for our problems.
Nigerian problems can only be solved by Nigerians. Nobody else will do it for you!!

DOLPHINKATE is spot on in her analysis of the plight of a lot of Nigerians in the diaspora. People want to get out at all cost. When you advise them that streets abroad are not paved with gold or that life is not a bed of roses they think "oh he's there and he doesn't want us to come over too" until they realise it is too late and they are stuck in dead end jobs and they cannot return home for fear of being labelled a failure. From then on it is downward spiral of crime, drugs, shady deals, prostitution in short they become rolling stones which gathers no moss. Even the ones   get married for papers put their lives at risk when they divorce because their disgruntled partner may end up exposing them or even kill them.
My advice  in support of DOLPHINKATE'S post is that if you have a reasonably good job in Nigeria think twice before you embark on what might turn out to be a wild goose chase and always set a target for yourself and have a plan B because when you are overseas its every man for himself. You will be surprised that even your relative will be giving excuses on why they cannot accommodate you.
A word is enough for the wise!!
