ZIMBABWE--A MARRIAGE of five years came to an end after a woman refused to have anal sex with her husband.
The marriage between William Phiri and Siphelumusa Sibanda is reported to have fallen apart two months ago.

This is after Phiri had demanded from his wife that they indulge in anal sex which was inspired by a pornographic video that the two were watching.

Sibanda would have none of it and said she was not going to be involved in "filthy" things and instead opted for the orthodox means of having sex.

Phiri was angered by this and started accusing the wife of not being adventurous. He went on to say that he was going to look for another woman who would satisfy his desires.

This was not taken kindly by Sibanda who went on an offensive and made counter allegations to the effect that Phiri was seeing other women.

After the incident, Sibanda vacated the couple's matrimonial house and went to stay with her parents. Since the day efforts have been made to salvage the situation with a number of meetings between the two's families breaking down.

At one stage a fight broke out between the two camps following an exchange of bitter words and members of the neighbourhood watch committee were called in to quell the tensions. Phiri is said to have since the beginning of the month made frantic efforts to get his wife back.He has gone to the extent of trying to beg his wife into having sex as a means of "finding" each other again. He succeeded in doing so two weeks ago after Sibanda fell for his cunning tongue and had sex with him.

She however, woke up the following day full of regret and as such she has enlisted the services of the court of law to come to her rescue. She has since approached the Western Commonage courts seeking a protection order against Phiri.

In her application the woman said she would not be reduced into a sex tool. "I refused his demands and I do not want him anymore. I will not allow myself to be turned into a sex slave. He comes to my home and says we should have sex which would help get us back together," she said."May the court stop him from coming anywhere near me."

63  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Hospital 'disposed of live baby'. on: 4-11-2011 07:09 PM

Photo illustration. A hospital in south China has suspended four medical workers for mistakenly diagnosing a stillbirth and disposing of a baby that was alive, state press said Friday.

BEIJING (AFP) - Health authorities in south China said Friday they were investigating a hospital medical team for mistakenly diagnosing a stillbirth and disposing of a baby that was alive.

The probe is taking place at the Nanhai Red Cross Hospital in the Guangdong provincial city of Foshan where the incident occurred on October 26, the Nanhai district health bureau said in a statement faxed to AFP.

According to the statement, Liu Dongmei -- eight months pregnant -- had been rushed to the hospital with internal bleeding and stomach cramps.

She later had an emergency birth, but the baby was neither breathing nor crying after leaving the womb and its skin had turned purple, it said.

Believing it was dead, the medical team disposed of the child but did not follow proper hospital procedures, the statement added.

The Foshan News, a local website, reported that when Liu's sister-in-law asked to see the body around 30 minutes after birth, she was handed a yellow plastic bag containing the infant and found it was still alive.

"I opened the plastic bag and saw the baby's hands and feet moving, the stomach was going up and down and air bubbles were coming out of his mouth," the paper quoted her as saying.

She was further shocked when she saw the baby was a boy -- not a girl as the family had been told, it said.

According to the Foshan News, nurses had told the family the child was a girl in an effort to blunt the blow of its death.

In China, baby boys are often viewed as more precious than girls, as many families can have only one child as part of the nation's population policy and desire a male heir.

Following the discovery, the newborn was rushed to intensive care where he remains in a stable condition.

Officials at the hospital refused to comment on the incident when contacted by AFP.

China's healthcare system -- once widely praised for improving the health of millions -- is now panned as costly, underfunded and providing shoddy treatment, especially in poorer regions.

Liu and her husband are seeking to sue the hospital for 300,000 yuan ($45,000), the Beijing News said.

The head of the maternity ward, a doctor and two nurses have been suspended pending the results of the investigation, it added.

ZIMBABWE--THE parents of a four-year-old boy thought dead and buried in 2009 have been told he is alive in an apparent witchcraft intrigue, a newspaper reported.

Marlon Dongo, of Nyamadzawo Village in Seke, 30km south of Harare, was pronounced dead and his grieving parents attended his burial, although they say some village elders had forbidden body viewing.

Now two years later, the boy’s father, William Chikoroondo, and mother, Maslyne Dongo, say they have been approached by their local headman, Ernest Nyamadzawo, with a shocking confession: he has their son, and he is ALIVE.

“The first time he came, he asked me if I was strong enough to bear tragic news. Although I said 'yes', he was reluctant to continue and went away,” the boy’s mother told the NewsDay newspaper.

“The next time he came, he asked if my husband was aggressive, because he feared what he wanted to say would make my husband kill him. But I assured him that he was not temperamental.

“He finally told me that my child was not dead and had become too hot for him to handle.”
The newspaper says Nyamadzawo is believed to be a member of a local “committee of witches” suspected of causing the “deaths” of 21 other children, who are probably alive and being used in witchcraft practices.

On a day last week when the headman had promised to hand over the child, with the help of a local herbalist, 800 people from the village and neighbouring communities are said to have gathered – demanding the return of all the children believed to be in captivity.

Nyamadzawo, who turned up without the child, was beaten up and received hospital treatment, said one of his relatives Maxwell Nemhara.

The headman’s brother, 72-year-old Joseph Muranganwa Nyamadzawo, told NewsDay: “I am hearing this kind of thing for the first time in my life. My brother said he did not see the matter being resolved within the family, but we also need to involve some elders who are familiar with these kinds of things and know how they may be resolved.”

The boy’s mother is holding to the hope that her child is alive, she said, and her family is engaging local traditional leaders to secure his release.

Meanwhile, the boy's grave remains undisturbed, according to his parents, and they now wonder what they buried there. They are not ruling out an exhumation.

Pregnant couple in incestuous relationship

What should be one of the happiest times of their lives has turned into a nightmare for an engaged couple awaiting the birth of their child next month.

They have discovered they are brother and sister.

The couple had dated for five years after meeting at university and wanted their parents to meet before getting married.

"But at the meeting it emerged they were brother and sister who had been separated as small children," Britain's Daily Mail has reported.

"The unnamed South African couple are still in shock after making the discovery last Saturday.

"The country's Sowetan newspaper reported that the siblings had been raised separately after their mother and father went through an acrimonious divorce."

The woman was eight months old and her fiance was two years old when their parents separated.

"The man's father said he dumped his wife in 1983 because she was cheating on him," the Sowetan newspaper reported.

"The girl was raised by her mother, while her brother was raised by his father.

"Neither of them knew they had a sibling."

The Sowetan newspaper reported that the two families did not meet throughout the five-year relationship, until it was time to discuss wedding arrangements.

The woman said it was love at first sight when she met her partner, but their parents' shock announcement had left them devastated and they had decided to separate.

"When I first saw him, we connected. We fell in love and since that day, we never looked back," she told Sowetan.

"All we wanted to do was just to have a family and many kids.

"So you can imagine how shocked we were when they broke the news. We are going to have a child together. We do not know what we will tell him when he grows up."

The Mail reported that research by the British Medical Journal showed that half of those people separated from relatives at a young age experienced strong segxwal feelings when they reunited.

"Psychiatrists believe the natural repulsion brothers and sisters feel growing up together as children acts as an inhibitor to incest," The Mail said.

"But those who miss out on this time can develop powerful, obsessive feelings for their sibling in adulthood."

The girl's uncle, Pete Silbery, told The Associated Press on Friday that Shylah Silbery managed to open the fridge and comfort herself with a teddy bear named "Possum" after Lauren Silbery, 28, died.

The family last spoke to Lauren Silbery on Oct. 19, he said. Two days later, they were worried enough to call a friend who lived near her Wellington home. The friend could see the girl inside the home, but not the mother, prompting the family to call police, Pete Silbery said.

Police coaxed Shylah to drag a coffee table to the door so she could reach the lock and unlock the door, before she told them, "Mummy won't wake up," Silbery said.

"I can only imagine her in there for that long, trying to wake Mum up as well," he said.

Shylah spent several days in a hospital recovering from dehydration and diaper rash.

"She's doing OK now. She's still bubbly," he said. "When we lowered the coffin into the grave at the cemetery, though, she pointed at it and said 'Mummy's in there.' It was pretty heartbreaking."

Authorities are awaiting the results of an autopsy but don't believe Lauren Silbery's death was suspicious, Wellington police spokesman Victoria Davis said.
74  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 75-year-old woman disappears from verification centre on: 3-11-2011 05:57 PM

By EVELYN USMAN
Where could mama be? Who could have done this to a helpless old woman? These are questions currently begging for an urgent reply, following the sudden disappearance of a 75-year-old woman, Mrs Juliana Oyewande Oyeyinka at the Federal Secretariat, Ikoloba, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The septuagenarian, a retired headmistress, left her home at Balogun Amosu off Alakia Isebgbon road in Ibadan, on October 9, 2011, for pensioners verification exercise, without the slightest inkling of the danger ahead. She was escorted to the secretariat by one of her daughters, Mrs Oyewo, owing to her inability to walk properly as she reportedly suffers from arthritis.

Arriving the secretariat at 11am and waiting for her turn, as there were other pensioners on the queue, mama, as she is fondly called, reportedly waited for four hours before she was asked to fill a form, which, unfortunately, was not within her reach.

Her daughter, as gathered, opted to go get the form. But on her arrival, she discovered with dismay that her mother’s sitting position was empty, without any sight of her around. Out of curiosity, she asked those around if they knew where she was but everyone shuddered with indifference.

Just then, it occurred to Mrs Oyewo that an unknown woman had volunteered to look after mama as she was about going to get the requested document.

The distraught daughter of the septuagenarian told Crime Alert that, “ the lady in question assured me she was going to look after my mother when I was leaving” Perhaps, mama had premonition of what was to happen as she had intended following her daughter but the strange woman reportedly assuaged her fears by opting to look after her in her daughter’s absence.

Continuing, Mrs Oyewo said, “I was reluctant to leave my mother in her care but she offered to look after her. I never knew her from anywhere. But I noticed she was somehow close to my mother all through. Honestly, I wanted to go with my mother to get the form. If only I knew the woman was into something sinister.

When I came back and did not see my mother, I looked round for the strange woman but did not see her either. I thought probably my mum went to ease herself and could have taken her. I went round the premises in search of my mother and the strange woman but did not see either of them.

I also went to the gate- man to ask if he saw my mother leaving and he said no “I immediately went to the police to report. Consequently, some policemen came with me and together we searched round for my mum but yet did not see her.

I was then asked to go home and wait for twenty-four hours before making an official complain. That I did, hoping my mum would come home but have not seen her since then.”

It has been twenty-five days since the dark completioned septuagenarian who retired from active service in 1991disappeared with the mystery woman without any trace.

On whether the septuagenarian was kidnapped still remains a puzzle to be unraveled. Crime Alert gathered that the slim and average in height aged woman who was visiting the secretariat for the third time since retirement, was not with her phone, as this might have perhaps helped her purported abductors to reach her devastated children.

The family has therefore urged the Oyo state government in particular and Nigerians in general to help them with possible information that could lead to the discovery of their mother. The family who expressed concern over Mrs Juliana’s health passionately begged anyone that has information about their mother’s whereabouts to reach them or contact the nearest police station.

76  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Ekiti to shut down brothel near school on: 3-11-2011 05:52 PM

Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board has begun moves to shut a brothel beside the Ansar Ud Deen Primary School at Irona area in Ado-Ekiti.

The SUBEB Chairman, Prof. Modupe Adelabu, said at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, that the board was worried that the proximity of the brothel would have a negative effect on the upbringing of the pupils.

Adelabu said the brothel would be closed because the school was already in existence before its owner brought his business there.

Adelabu explained that the board had met with the commissioner of police in the state on the matter and was seeking legal advice to know the right way to ensure the closure of the brothel.

She said, "Schools should be far away from markets, brothels and other dangers. We are worried about the proximity of a brothel to our school. We met with the commissioner of police on this matter. We don’t want to go against the law but the brothel must go.

"These prostitutes go about the premises naked and this is not good for our children. It is unhealthy for pupils who come to school to see used condoms all around the premises."

Adelabu said SUBEB had embarked on sensitisation programmes to increase the number of pupils enrolled in schools.

She emphasised that the state government was doing everything to increase the school population from 155,296 pupils’ enrolment in 796 primary schools in the state to over 200,000.

According to her, the SUBEB is intensifying efforts to attract more pupils to the school by building more classrooms, building toilets facilities and painting structures already in existence.

She added that the board had also introduced the use of academic gowns for the graduation ceremony of primary school pupils, saying that was one of the attractions to private schools.

77  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Bayelsa Guber: Sylva bounces back for PDP Ticket. on: 3-11-2011 05:44 PM

•Primary to hold Nov. 17

By CHIDI OBINECHE Thursday, November 03, 2011

The ‘ping-pong’ game in the clearance of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants in Bayelsa State continued yesterday with hints of an imminent all clear for the embattled Governor Timipre Sylva.
The Appeals Committee had on Monday withheld his clearance, citing inadequate powers, information and technical know-how to do so, based on allegations of security breaches.

The National Working Committee (NWC) followed suit by endorsing the decision on Tuesday.
However, following increased anxiety and lobbying, there were indications yesterday that a second list of cleared candidates, which would include Sylva, was in the works and may be released today.
The governor’s aides insisted last night that Chief Sylva had never been shut out, situating the melodrama that attended his clearance as “normal politics, which has in a way helped in the governors campaign to clinch the ticket of the party on November 17.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dofie Ola, placed the onus of proof on the claims against the governor on those who alleged, adding that the plot was a mere sinister move by his opponents to get him out of the way, because of his popularity and the edge he has over them.
As part of the grand plan to rail-road him back on track, party leaders swiftly moved their meeting from the Wadata Plaza Secretariat, Abuja to the Legacy House to ward off the prying eyes of members of the public.
Daily Sun further learnt that the party, short of succumbing to pressure, merely dressed up the meeting to clear him to stem the tide of allegations of “injustice, hatred and doing the bidding of the governor’s detractors.

The governor, according to sources, will still meet a roadblock at the primary proper. A member of the 13-man Appeals Committee that halted the governor’s aspiration, Hon. Moshood Salvador, when contacted on telephone, feigned ignorance of the new developments.
He said: “I have not heard anything concerning that. But this is politics. You can’t rule it out. Anything can happen. We have concluded our own and passed it over to the NWC. It is their duty to decide; whether there’ll be a second list or not.”

Only four of the aspirants were initially cleared for the party’s primary, according to a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Prof Rufai Ahmed Alkali, in what the party called first batch of aspirants cleared. The names of those cleared were Oruta Justine Boloubo, Henry Seriake Dickson, Enai Christopher Fullpower and Kalango Michael Youppele.
The NWC, according to a source, succumbed to include Sylva, mindful of the implication of edging him out from the race at this stage.

Daily Sun gathered that although the embattled governor’s fate had been sealed at the level of the NWC, other party elders, including some believed to have Presidency’s ears, insisted it would be too untidy to stop Sylva at that level. They, therefore, suggested that the governor be cleared, while those opposed to his candidacy could go and confront him at the the primary proper.
However, there is also the fear among the ranks of his opponents that it might be difficult to stop the incumbent governor from wresting the party ticket once he scales through this stage.

79  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Court remands suspected wife killer in prison on: 3-11-2011 05:31 PM

By Jide Orintunsin

A Minna Chief Magistrate Mohammed Gimba Gabi yesterday ordered the detention of Mohammed Jameel Musa, who is standing trial for allegedly killing his wife, Tawakaltu, in a hotel room in New Wuse, Niger State, till December 1.
Musa is facing a count charge of culpable homicide, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law, for allegedly strangling Tawakaltu on May 18, where he had lodged under a false name of Ademola Adeniyi with the deceased.
Adjourning the matter till December 1, Gimba noted that if Musa is found guilty, the case would be taken to the High Court as his court lacks the jurisdiction to try a murder case.
In company of his late wife, Musa had reportedly lodged at the hotel and fled after allegedly strangling the woman.
The prosecution alleged that the accused was on the run for five months after strangling the woman and was arrested at a commercial bank in Abuja.
Though no plea was taken in court yesterday, it was gathered that the accused had confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Police prosecutor Bartholomew Ameh urged the court to adjourn the matter to enable the police conclude their investigation.
He said the accused was charged with a capital offence, which is not bailable.
Ameh added that it took the police about six months to arrest Musa, arguing that if the accused is allowed bail, he might jump it.
He said: “My Lord, the accused person will run away just as he did the first time because of the gravity of the crime he committed. He is aware of the punishment of the case he is facing. He knows that he may face death sentence if he is found guilty.”
But counsel to the accused, Kehinde Olaitan said he would prefer to apply formally for bail.
Ordering Musa to be remanded in prison custody, Chief Magistrate Gabi also adjourned hearing in the matter till December 1 for further hearing.
