I could also say what has happened here is a normal occurence in Nigeria - and that is relations within a family taking on the "training" and "upbringing" of a less priviledged member of the same family. However if one looks deeper into the household one will see that the child that was promised a "sound education"  is nothing more than a "servant!"

The servants time is spent doing menial jobs around the house that "madam" and "sir" are too "big" (or their children) o do - like keeping the house clean, cooking, washing clothes, taking the children to school etc!

However I do NOT AGREE with the term SLAVERY!

The word SLAVERY is being over used nowadays. European girls being trafficked for sex into other countries are also being referred to as SLAVES.

I think some parts of the workd are trying to DOWNPLAY the word SLAVE so as to turn our minds away from the devastation caused to AFRICA during the REAL SLAVE TRADE.

The FILM - 12 Years A Slave depicts what real slaves went through. And so lets us not ALLOW our former colinial masters try to pinppoint every other person as a SLAVE MASTER!
