81  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Man with giant head on: 31-05-2012 10:00 PM

Sain Mumtaz, 22, has been seriously disfigured by Proteus syndrome which has caused certain parts of his body to continue growing.
Brave: Sain Mumtaz from Lahore has battled with his disfigurement since he was child
He has been accepted by locals in his neighborhood on the outskirts of Lahore, in Pakistan, but the disease has left him with ongoing medical problems and he finds it difficult to get around   Kiss

Love for life: Despite his appearance and related medical problems Sain is embracing life
Kind: Locals have accepted Sain and call him their 'giant friend'

Love for life: Despite his appearance and related medical problems Sain is embracing life

It is thought that Sain suffered from a unique variation of Proteus syndrome - which also affected 'Elephant Man' Joseph Merrick - because of the symmetrical deformity on his face and skull.

Heartbreakingly Sian once believed his terrible affliction was a curse bestowed on him by a vengeful God, leaving him listless and depressed.

But supportive friends and family have kept his spirits high and he is now determined to embrace life.

Kindly locals refer to him as their 'giant friend' and are determined to discover a cure for Sian who in turn hopes he will meet the woman of his dreams.
Family: Sain is pictured at his Lahore home in Pakistan with his family who have been very supportive throughout

Sain and his family hope for a cure so he can find love. He told how people were once afraid of his appearance bu that he has grown to be accepted

He said: 'I've been this way since I was born. My face, arms and legs all differ in size and people assume I'm not like other normal human beings.

But I'm mentally fit and understand everything, I live like my life like everyone else despite all my family including my mother, father, brothers and sisters all being born without the condition.

People used to run away from me. But now they treat me normally and sit and talk to me when I am out.

They call me their friend. One day I hope to be cured and meet a woman who will love me.'
If Sain is suffering from Proteus syndrome there will be nothing doctors can do for him. But his family cling on to the hope that he is suffering from an undiagnosed and treatable disease

Sain Mumtaz (right) pictured with his father Wazir Ali (left) who is desperate to find a cure for his son

Sain hasn't seen a doctor since he was a boy when he was told it was Proteus Syndrome and nothing could be done to help him.

If Proteus is the correct diagnosis for his condition there may be nothing that can reduce the weight of his massive limbs.

But his family cling on to the hope that Sain is suffering from some other overgrowth disorder and if this is true then there may well be treatments that can help him.

His father, Wazir Ali, said: 'We want to discover what is wrong with him, and whether anything might be done to improve his day-to-day life.

'He has hopes for his future, one day he would like to run a rickshaw business and find a wife.'

Abiola was part of d problem of Nigeria. He stole so much and supported d military in their greed. Other elder statesmen who contributed in building Nigeria have rested in peace. Abiola is still creating problems. I wonder the kind of man he was.

Dear President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, “We are lawyers representing Transparency International, a global civil society group leading the fight against corruption. Your Excellency, if you look at the website of our client, she defines herself extensively as:

“Transparency International, the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption, brings people together in a powerful worldwide coalition to end the devastating impact of corruption on men, women and children around the world. TI’s mission is to create change towards a world free of corruption.

Goodluck Jonathan

Transparency International challenges the inevitability of corruption, and offers hope to its victims. Since its founding in 1993, TI has played a lead role in improving the lives of millions around the world by building momentum for the anti corruption movement.”

Your Excellency, perhaps, you already know that our client is famous in your part of the world for her annual Corruption Perception Index (CPI). It has become the world’s most famous corruption ranking fiesta. People and governments all over the world expect the annual CPI the way they expect the announcement of the Nobel Prizes. We are sure you know how it works Your Excellency: some 200 countries are ranked from the least corrupt to the most corrupt.

To gather corruption data every year on two hundred countries is arduous work. Our client’s thorough methodology is constantly reviewed and updated by the best experts in the world. This methodology revolves around a national integrity system assessment that is applied by a team of country specialists. Transparency International allots three specialists to each of the 200 countries under assessment. Six hundred specialists work round the clock to help our client draw up the CPI which is released on the last month of every year.

Transparency International has retained the services of our firm because they believe that Nigeria is about to jeopardise their work for the year 2012. Our client suspects sabotage, plotted and orchestrated by Nigeria’s political elite, in order to make it impossible for Transparency International to work effectively on the 2012 Corruption Perception Index. Our client would rather have a peaceful resolution of this matter as international litigation is always sensational, time wasting, and expensive.

The problem, Your Excellency, has to do with the rate and scale of scams and corruption probes coming out of Nigeria in 2012. The scope and speed of corruption in your country this year is beyond anything our client has ever dealt with. When the pension fund scam broke out, the three specialists working on Nigeria complained about overwork and threatened a lawsuit against Transparency International because they had to work 23 hours a day from Monday to Sunday just to cope with the figures coming out of that scam. Our client had to pull country specialists away from zero or low corruption countries such as New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Singapore, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Switzerland, and Canada. The specialists working on all these countries were transferred to the Nigeria desk.

While the reinforced Nigeria desk was coping with the pension fund scam, the fuel subsidy scam and the SEC scam also broke out in your country and the figures involved have been so vertiginous that Transparency International has had no choice but to transfer all six hundred country specialists working on two hundred countries to the Nigeria desk. With our client’s six hundred experts now struggling to cope with corruption data emanating from just one country, the integrity of the CPI process for 2012 has been compromised. TI has no staff to work on the remaining one hundred and ninety-nine countries.

An emergency board meeting was convened to review the situation and board members suggested that given the scale of these corruption scandals emanating from your country in just the first four months of 2012, there appears to be a conspiracy on the part of your country’s political class to overwhelm Transparency International and thereby make it impossible for her to work on and release the 2012 CPI, since it is not possible to release date on just one country to the rest of the world in December 2012.

Your Excellency, we are hoping that you would be willing to discuss a negotiated settlement. Transparency International is seeking compensation from Nigeria for the unprecedented disruption of her work occasioned by your gargantuan corruption scams this year – which has made it impossible to focus on any other country. If you are unwilling to negotiate, we have been instructed to institute legal action against your country, for conspiracy to derail the work of a credible international organization by overwhelming her with corruption data and stretching her resources beyond tolerable human limits.

                Yours sincerely,

89  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Kidnappers kill ex-Ohanaeze boss...After collecting N30m ransom on: 24-04-2012 10:08 PM

Shock and anguish yesterday trailed the confirmation that a former Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief John Nzewi was killed by kidnappers who took N30 million ransom payment from his family. Chief Nzewi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and current president of Igbos In Commerce, hailed from Nnewi, Anambra State.

The deceased was said to have been kidnapped weeks ago during the re-run Senatorial elections in Anambra South district at Ihiala, Ihiala Council Area.
His companion (names withheld), who was kidnapped along with him, was reportedly freed on payment of ransom, while the family of Chief Nzewi allegedly, could not immediately raise the N50 million demanded.

Daily Sun gathered from a close family source that his family and the abductors allegedly later settled for N30 million. The kidnappers took the ransom only to release the corpse of Nzewi to the family.
The family has been thrown into shock and mourning, as they found it hard to accept the death of the PDP chieftain.

The family source said: “If we knew that they would kill him, we would not have paid the N30 million ransom they demanded from us. Now, what is the use? They collected the money and still killed him. All we have to do now is to prepare for the burial.”
Reacting to the death, the spokesman of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Diaspora, Chief Sonny Louis Okafor said, from investigations made, Nzewi’s captors collected the N30 million and killed him thereafter.
Okafor called on the acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, to come to the rescue of the people.

According to him: “We condole with the Nzewi family on this unfortunate incident. The Nigeria police should track down those who killed Nzewi. Let it not be like such incidents, which after investigation will be swept under the carpet.Via Daily Sun .

Does he actually paid the said amount? Coz the money in question is enough to make him an entrepreneur rather than killing of other person to take his property.
