From a public health perspective, our food generally is not even healthy to begin with. Most of us consume starchy foods like rice, garri, pounded yam, which I dont blame them considering the fact that its our staple foods. Even when we eat beans, we eat it with fried plantain which is starch plus oil. We do not exercise. If not because roads are bad and some have to trek sometimes to the bus stop, some of our legs would not even reach the ground. The built environment does not even contribute to the issue, because those of us that want to exercise outside like running cant do it cos the walk pavements are been driven on by okada men or sometimes cars. Many things contribute to it oh...Many and that is what increases our risk for chronic disease, fat around the belly.
As for the men, if only they would exercise more and drink less..My dad used to have big belly before especially as we associate it to big manism, but when he travelled out, no be person tell am..Hes lost so much belly fat and looks fresher and younger.
