The House of Representatives yesterday Tuesday March 5th approved life imprisonment for any person convicted of rape. They also approved a minimum of 20 years without an option of fine for persons convicted of gang molesting someone.

The bill, which was sponsored by Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also approved 25 years imprisonment for any person who attempted to use chemical, biological or any harmful liquid on another person. (e.g pouring acid on anyone).

The bill also approved 4 years in jail or a fine not more than N200,000 or both for any person convicted of performing female circumcision and general mutilation or engaging someone to carry it out. Aiding female circumcision attracts N100, 000 or two years in jail or both.

The Islamic Hisbah in Kano northern Nigeria has concluded plans to organize mass wedding to the volume of 2000 couples at a batch.
Barr. Nabhani Usman, Deputy Commander in charge of Special Operations of the Shari’ah enforcement agency who disclosed this said all is set for the government-sponsored programme slated to hold soon.



The latest mass wedding will involve young ladies and men from less privileged families would be included in the government-sponsored programme, geared towards discouraging the spate of divorce and single-parent in the state.
Screening of prospective suitors in the 44 Local Government Areas of the State has commenced, Usman disclosed, pointing out that the final screening would be carried out at Hisbah headquarters located in Sharada.

An Ejigbo Magistrate Court in Lagos on Friday granted bail to one Samson Egbeola in the sum of N250,000 for allegedly having series of unlawful segxwal intercourse with one  Franca Bajou, a business woman.
Egbeola, 43, a self acclaimed prophet, was facing a 3- count charge of being an impostor, unlawful segxwal intercourse and charming.
The accused, who resides at No. 16 Akewusola St., Egan pleaded not guilty to the 3-count charge preferred against him.
The police prosecutor, ASP Nicholas Atumonye, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offence in November, 2012 at Egan.
He said that the accused, under false pretense, presented himself as a prophet to the 26 years old business woman.
He said that the accused shaved Bajou’s pubic hair, cut her nails and used them to prepare charm.
According to Atumonye, the accused told the business woman to use the charm to prepare food for her husband.
The prosecutor further alleged that the accused, having brainwashed Franca, the accused had series of unlawful segxwal intercourse with her under the pretense that such segxwal escapades would solve all her problems.
Atumonye said that on Feb. 16, Egbeola was allegedly found with three candles and pictures which he presented to Bajou as charms which had the potency of preventing her husband from having another wife.
He alleged that the offence contravened sections 166 (d), 25892) and 130
(c) of the criminal Law of Lagos 2011.
The magistrate, Mrs M.B. Folami adjourned the case till April 4 for mention. (NAN)

Earlier today, in his futile attempt to defend   Mrs  Oby Ezekesili , former FCT minister , Mallam Nasir El-Rufai  derided Christians by the use of segxwal epithets when referring to our Lord Jesus Christ. He simply defiled Christ on twitter.
He went overboard when, on his Twitter page,  said our Lord Jesus Christ  had sex with Mary Magdalene. We see this as a  very insensitive, irresponsible, and a offensive thing to say about Christ, and an attack on the sensibilities of Christians globally.
El-Rufai betrayed his lack of respect for our Lord Jesus Christ and obvious hatred for Christians. How else can one explain his effrontery and buffoonery when he seemingly jokingly twitted that Christ had sex with Mary Magdalene.
El-Rufai who aspires rule a multi religious nation, should have been circumspect in his use of words when referring to the sacred.
It is on record that less offensive things have been said about the Prophet Mohammed which led to loss of Christian lives.
The former minister has just told Nigerians that he lacks the decency to rule a multi religious nation, if he should display such disrespect for the sacred and thinks it is funny. His Tweet shows he is not a decent man.
He has disregarded the collective sensibilities of Christians all over the world by this very offensive reference to our Lord Jesus Christ.
