The setting up of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, (SCOAN) was not without an act. In life, few people usually dream of an idea but if such ideas become great trees planted by the rivers of waters, it becomes useful to millions of people all over the world.
Pastor TB Joshua had a great dream. He alone conceived of the idea of setting up a global church founded on the greatest humanitarian values. He started the idea at Ikotun-Egbe where he was inspired by the spirit. Pastor Joshua could not have done it all alone. He had lieutenants; he had people who he invited to join him in the journey of life. It was a tough moment for the foundation members. They all collectively made sacrifices. They toiled. At least about three times, flood-ravaged the original site. But they stood their ground. They worked hard. They suffered in order to ensure the growth of the Church. Some of them were very young at this time, like the motivator himself.
It should be recalled that Pastor Joshua’s disciples and other founders made tremendous sacrifices to sustain the momentum. This was against the background of challenges both from nature and from man. There were threats. There were tribulations. They triumphed. All these happened long before the Church became a global brand. When the Church became eventually known all over the world, Pastor Joshua did not at any time betray the founding members. It took several years for the church to be noticed by Nigeria and then by the World.
The Church within the shortest time began to grow like wildfire. These founding members, in his wisdom, Pastor TB Joshua made them members of the Board of Trustees, at least some of them. The Church spread across the world, creating ripples of faith, love, and affection, drawing many people the way nectar drew butterflies. In the past 30 years, Synagogue Church of All Nations, (SCOAN) has become Nigeria’s most internationally accepted faith-based organization. At the risk of being immodest, there is no Church that has contributed to Charity compared with SCOAN in Nigeria. The spiritual aspect of the Church is the guiding light and the motivator of all things. It is what gave inspiration to the grandeur of the Church.
However, with the death of Pastor Joshua, it should not be the end of the Church. Unfortunately, what we are seeing now is the conscious attempt to take over the Church by Mrs. Evelyn Joshua. There are many issues that are being raised: In the first instance, what is the spiritual preparedness of Mrs. Evelyn Joshua? The truth is that she was never part of the spiritual caucus of the Church. Many people see her as a diligent housewife and nothing more. She has not been associated with any miracle in the Church. She never led even a small congregation of the Church. She was not in any way involved in the beginning. She came into the life of Pastor Joshua only in the middle when the Church was already firmly established. She is not associated with any spiritual powers. She was not part of the Spiritual warriors in the Church.
Administering the finances of the Church can be done by any Chartered Accountant, but not the spiritual aspect. Leading a Church of SCOAN status demands a lot of spiritual preparedness. SCOAN is not a business outfit driven by profit. It has to do with confronting individual and collective spiritual needs, healing prophesies, and special relationships with being and essence. Without this, the Church is nothing.
This is what right-thinking men and women hope Mrs. Evelyn Joshua should understand. The fact is that the only person qualified to lead the Church can only be a Pastor from any of the disciples, already anointed by the Pastor himself and we have some of them. Unfortunately, it appears Mrs. Evelyn Joshua is only interested in driving away from the founding members, both at home and abroad so that the vast estate can be turned into her own private fiefdom. Nigerians who wish SCOAN well should pray for the Church at this crucial moment so that the whole empire will not go down in ruin.

Based on historical events and recent experiences, we would want the Prophet and the SCOAN families worldwide to take note of these possible methods these bad guys may use to launch their attack. We should not take anything for granted this time around and we must be very prayerful and watchful because these evil doers seem to be very much active now.
AEROPLANE BOMB ATTACK: The Prophet must make sure that a comprehensive background security check is done on any flight he and his team board. Even the pilot of the plane must be properly checked. This is one of the modern methods these powerful evil establishments kill great men and women they believed to be a threat to their demonic interest. GIFT/LETTER BOMB ATTACK: The Prophet should not be allowed to open or received any gift/letter directly. Such gift and letter should first go through some security check and if someone must open the package, it should either be the sender or someone else and not TB Joshua himself.
PROFESSIONAL SNIPER/ASSASSIN: In the day of the attacked on the SCOAN guest house, the military aeroplane that was used to attack the building was also spotted at the prayer mountain; knowing that the Prophet was there. It was said there was a Sniper – a professional shooter that was in that plane to shoot the Prophet but thank God they failed, because of God’s protective shade covering the Prophet. Remember that the Prophet was the actual target. The SCOAN must build up a strong security surveyance around the Prophet. Especially when he is going out for a revival program. And before the Prophet travel for an international crusade, he must get an assurance from the government of that nation that his security will be a priority.
ESPIONAGE THREAT: The SCOAN is already used to international spies visiting/invading the Ministry. They come to the SCOAN under the disguise of being an international visitor and some discipleship. SCOAN should not take this spy threat for granted. Because most of their intentions are evil and some may be there to harm the Prophet.
POISON: In our present disposition, there is more advance method now that one can be poison. So, the Prophet must be careful with those he makes contacts with. From what he eats, the air and even through handshake one can be poison. We know God is with the Prophet, but he too must watch his back.
GOING AFTER THOSE THAT ARE CLOSE TO THE PROPHET: The family members of the Prophet – the wife and daughters are also points of targets. Even those that have publicly associated with the Prophet can also be blackmail and their reputation smear. Someone like the President of Tanzanian and others that have publicly associated with the Prophet should watch their back. They should know that those that want to kill the Prophet hate them too.
ATTACK ON SCOAN AGAIN: Whenever you visit the SCOAN you must be security conscious. You need to know that these bad guys are not done yet with their attack on the SCOAN. There is so many Prophecy out there that revealed that these evil doers will attack SCOAN again.
They are ready to do anything to make sure that they scare people from coming to the SCOAN for their healings and deliverances. These evil establishments are agents of darkness and they are not happy with the work of freedom that God is doing in the life of the people that visit the SCOAN.
FALSE ACCUSATION TO TARNISH THE PROPHET REPUTATION: We are already used to this method of false accusation against T.B. Joshua and his ministry. Just like the English proverb that says, “Give a dog a bad name and hang him.” Just as we all are witnessing the false rape allegations that are treading now. These are met to give a bad name to the Prophet and smear his reputation. With that, they can easily attack him without much resistance from the people. It is important to note that we are not limiting the spotlight to those few points listed here. We must be on an active outlook and guide ourselves against any form of evil games and trick they may want to use. They will even come with mind games that will make us start doubting if indeed the Prophet is of God. In the place of doubt and unbelieved, you must always remember to make the Word of God your last point of call.
We are not writing this to scare anybody, we are only sensitising the people and preparing their mind for the worst. We should always know that they will attack. Don’t forget that lives have already been lost and more life may also go too. But the role each and every one of us will play, as a family of this great commission of the gospel, of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ will help to minimize the effects, of this present battle between the kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness.

I must confess I find it difficult to comprehend why the media subjects Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua to such intense scrutiny, usually highlighting reports of contentious nature. Whenever Joshua’s issue is raised, it tends to be encased in controversial arguments amidst strongly opinionated individuals who stand vehemently for or against the popular cleric, using internet forums and news sites to launch their often distasteful invectives. For instance, why Asabee’s apparent membership at The SCOAN should elicit such strong reactions and denunciations is startling. What actually confounds me is the volume of foul-mouthed persons who condemn the man of God to hell and back whereas their insinuations appear to be founded purely on generalised speculations and doctored media reports. For God’s sake, the man has a television station that is readily available across Ghana and Africa called Emmanuel TV. Decency demands investigation before jumping to the whims of political heavyweights who purposely paint the prophet in a bad light because of his cordial relationship with Prof Mills.
I challenge all Joshua’s myriad of critics to study Emmanuel TV before arriving at a conclusion founded on political and often heretical hearsay. No right-minded person would deny the fact that many supposed ‘pastors’ are flaunting that sacred name for personal gains and fame, denting the image of Christianity thereby. But to view T.B. Joshua as such because of his dodgy Nigerian counterparts would also be an erroneous verdict. What I personally witness week-in and week-out on Emmanuel TV is practical Christianity in the rawest and purest form. I see needs met, problems solved, lives changed, homes reunited, hopes restored and the power of satan broken in countless lives. Joshua takes care of the widows and orphans, delivers the oppressed and depressed, heals the sick and afflicted and gives the glory to God for it all. His pin-point prophecies are always accurate and the power of God accompanies every facet of his ever broadening ministry. If prominent Ghanaian personalities are visiting the man, should we not rejoice that they are seeking God and not the witchdoctors, occultists or ritualists? After all, the Zimbabwe Prime Minister Tsvangirai was in The SCOAN earlier this month and the many reports I read praised his decision to seek God’s face. Let not rumours and propaganda lead us to irreverence for God’s servants.
A new pictorial book released by the Synagogue Church of All Nations showcases Prophet T.B Joshua’s humanitarian works
Modern day Nigerian Christian preachers and their ministries regularly come under public criticism. A major accusation against churches, particularly those of the Pentecostal variety, is that they take so much from members and give little or nothing back. In short, they are sometimes viewed with the kind of scorn reserved for oil companies, which treat their host communities with disdain. Pentecostal church founders, on account of their super-lush lifestyles, are also considered greedy and mean to those who have made their ministries the behemoths they are.
Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, controversial founder of the Lagos-based Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, is one of those regularly slated. And it is perhaps for this reason that his church has decided to catalogue its various humanitarian interventions.
This is made available in a 352-page pictorial book, Roadmap: Reaching Out To A Troubled World. The book, a commendable Public Relations effort, details in a vivid language, the various ways Joshua has touched lives locally and internationally through his ministry. “The humanitarian arm of the SCOAN has projects caterng for the needs of widows and widowers, little people, the elderly, the physically challenged, orphans and the impoverished. As part of its international disaster relief efforts, the SCOAN has established a permanent primary health clinic in Haiti. The church provides scholarship to orphans and children of the less privileged, with educational support given to university level. There is also a rehabilitation programme for armed robbers and prostitutes through which they are financially supported to enable them secure practical vocations,” the introduction reads.
A picture tells a thousand stories, as the saying goes. The book uses glossy and colourful photographs to push the veracity of the church’s claims.
Divided into sections, like Haiti Earthquake Relief, International Charity, Physically Challenged, Reformation Class, Widowhood and Fatherless, the book opens with a gripping picture of a crying child – one of those orphaned by the earthquake that devastated Haiti on 12 January 2010. Subsequent pages in that section show members of the SCOAN relief team rehabilitating victims of the earthquake.
The book also tells the story of Mrs. Onyinyechi Ibeabuchi, a physically challenged postgraduate student of Economics at the Abia State University, Uturu. Ibeabuchi, on account of her disability, used her hands to move her feet forward. But when she met Joshua, her condition changed. She received the sum of N93,000 for accommodation, feeding and tuition fees as well as a brand new wheelchair to aid mobility. And when Ibeabuchi returned to SCOAN, accompanied by her husband, Joshua gave the couple a brand new car and the sum of N200,000.
The book is replete with similar gestures of kindness. Another feature of the book that the reader will find interesting is the pictures of prominent leaders who, intrigued by Prophet Joshua’s extraordinary work, came to see things for themselves. They include the Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai; the President of Ghana, Professor John Atta Mills; and former president of Zambia, Mr. Frederick Chiluba.
Another salient aspect of the book is the section titled, Appreciation, which shows how appreciated Joshua’s philanthropy has been. This is reflected in recognition and numerous awards he has won. Of the awards, the most significant is the national honour of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, OFR, which late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua bestowed on him on 22 December 2008.
But does a church need a 352-page book to announce its acts of charity? Perhaps. Corporations and other organisations that want to be percieved in good light need to communicate with and be sensitive to their various publics. But there is a snag: skeptics, who can find anchor in the biblical position on publicising good deeds. Matthew 5:16 says: “…Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Settled? Not exactly. Matthew 6:3-4 warns: “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Skeptics often ask: Is it proper to do good deeds before men (as Matthew 5 seems to say) or not (as Matthew 6 seems to suggest)? Clearly, the Bible recommends setting good examples, but frowns at making a show of such, lest they get tarnished with hypocrisy. The answer seems to lie in the motive for seeking publicity for charitable deeds.
The vision of the Church is to see that the relationship and fellowship between God and man is restored. Christ’s mission is our mission: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). Christ’s mission is to preach the message of salvation to all people of all nations, as it says in Mark 16:15, “He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved…” Anyone can believe: whether educated or uneducated, rich or poor, Jew or Gentile. Anyone can believe. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).
The essence of the true Church is Christ in you, the hope of Glory (2 Corinthians 6:16; Colossians 1:27). Jesus loves us and cherishes our company. It is possible for you to have a close relationship and friendship with God Almighty. “For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I Myself will search for My sheep and look after them. As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after My sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land” (Ezekiel 34:11-12).

The message I'm having, I want my nation to take note. Any time all the personalities, people that matter in this country, should not enter plane and say they are travelling somewhere. Personalities, people that matter either in government or society, should not enter a plane and say they are flying to one state or another. I see blood of personalities flowing. Take note of that. I repeat again. The personalities, either government personalities or personalities of business but this is government personalities. They should not enter the same plane and say they are flying from one state to another for any reason in this country. There is danger. This is plane crash that will claim the lives of many personalities. Pray. Bow down your head for prayer. In Jesus Christ's name we pray.
We will not allow that to happen. But in order for that not to happen, they have to listen. They have a role to play. Well, a personality, a personality, an official, an official, a government official enter a play and fly from one place to another and it is a different story. So, they should not enter the same plane. Any time they are travelling, they should not be more that 1 or 2 inside the same plane. Other people can go and join another plane. Not together."

Joshua to reproduce men of God like him?” Seeing was definitely believing and many viewed what is happening in this ministry as comparable to the transfer of anointing which took place between Elijah and Elisha in the biblical era. As T.B. Joshua says, “The kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of Power. The Word and the Power must go together. Not only must we have God’s Word in order to be a pastor or a bishop – we must have God’s Spirit.” Giving the congregation a hint of what is to come, the Prophet mentioned that around the time of his birthday that more will be added to their number, stating that this would be his Birthday gift from God. For now, the Prophet said, they will be known as, “The three wise men”.
In an enlightening message titled, ‘The Name Of Jesus Has Power’ drawn from the scripture in Mark 9 detailing the account of the father of the demon possessed boy and his encounter with Jesus, Prophet T.B. Joshua explained, “There is Power in the name of Jesus indeed, but only among those who are committed to the glory of God.” He spoke of the need to have absolute trust in God, stating that some measure of trust would only enable us to do some works in Christ, not all. Speaking on the purpose of God’s Power and its incredible effects on a person’s life, T.B. Joshua said, “One of the reasons God gives us His Power is to confirm that what we are speaking is from Him…Once the supernatural Power of God comes upon you, then something is going to happen to you that cannot be explained by the human mind.”
Deliverance From The Occult In one particular Sunday service, while giving prophetic messages to individuals in the service, the man of God said that there was a witchdoctor in the congregation who brought charms to The SCOAN. He added that the most powerful charm was still inside his house in the form of a white pot and a pigeon and that someone was appearing to the man physically threatening to kill him. Shocked at the accuracy of the prophecy, the witchdoctor who the prophecy concerned came out to confirm the message to be true and confessed that he was too scared to carry the most dangerous charms he owned that were still in his house. Startled by the level of prophetic revelation, the congregation and viewers watched in amazement as the witchdoctor came forward and quickly fetched the occultic items that he had hidden outside on the church premises among flowers.
A few days later, the Emmanuel TV Team followed the witchdoctor, Mr Segun Maku to his home with instructions from Prophet T.B. Joshua which included the administration of the Anointing Water with the sole intention of bringing the remaining charms to The SCOAN. Mr Maku applied the Anointing water in the name of Jesus before he was able to collect the white pot and demonized pigeon which he had been using to send on missions to kill and destroy at his customers’ request. He returned safely to The SCOAN with his deadly charms together with his wife and children.
At the service the following Sunday, Maku described his devious dealings with occultism and brought out his most lethal charms. Maku appealed to T.B. Joshua that he wanted to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Saviour. In response, Prophet T.B. Joshua delivered Mr Maku and the demonized pigeon by the Power of God and declared them free.
Mr Anthony Nwaemeka from Anambra State, Nigeria had been given a prophetic message the previous week and was also escorted by members of the Emmanuel TV Team to his home to collect a charm which T.B. Joshua described as having a ‘stupid power’. Video footage was played of when Mr Nwaemeka went to collect his charm. As he sprayed the Anointing Water for on the charm itself, (which he explained had been prepared using a human tongue and a premature baby), thick smoke oozed out of the charm. He explained that this was the spirit coming out. He too was delivered from the occultic world. Two big fishes taken out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of light - Glory be to Jesus Christ!
“Stand Up!”- Miraculous Healing Unforgettable was the spectacular demonstration of God’s Power in the life of Mr Cuthbert Elkana Dube of Zimbabwe - a man holding twenty-two positions including Group Chief Executive Officer Of Premier Service Medical Aid Society, Chairman of West End Hospital, Chairman of Premier Banking Corporation and President of Zimbabwe Football Association to name a few. He had come to The SCOAN in a wheelchair, unable to walk due to a severe spinal cord problem. Prophet T.B. Joshua called on Mr Dube’s wife to come forward to administer the Anointing Water (for salvation, healing and deliverance). He instructed her to spray it into his mouth, on his head, to the back of his neck and down his spine. T.B. Joshua then instructed the man to, “Stand up!” and at that word, Mr Dube rose to his feet. The auditorium exploded into praise and worship in thanks to God for His mighty deeds as Mr Dube walked freely from the wheelchair.
Touching reconciliations also took place among many families including the families of Mr Opuuh, Mrs Mariam Bakori, Pere Johnson, Mrs Ijeoma, Mrs Blessing and Pastor Paul Okoto and a host of others.

personality that people are often confused on who really he is. But regardless of opinions, the Synagogue leader is well known for prediction and prophecy. In this interview with SEGUN OTOKITI, he spoke on his experience of persecution and condemnation at the hands of fellow preachers of the word, the state of the nation, what to expect from the forthcoming general elections, among other issues.
You have at various times had to battle with accusations and condemnation over the form of your Christian faith, healing method, source of your healing power, relationship with female members of your church among others. What do you say of the accusations?
The various accusations I have faced have really helped my spiritual life. I believe if all have been praises, praises, without condemnation, that will not help me. The condemnation and rebuke makes me to be closer to God and keeps me seeking the face of God the more. It makes me pray the more, fast the more and do the things of God the more. I think it’s a blessing; I regard it as a blessing. At least everything has been well. I want to thank those who in the past God were used to condemning me. Sometimes God uses foolish things to express himself. What I mean by foolish things is condemnation.
God uses these condemnations to prepare us for the challenges ahead. God uses some trails to take us to a new level in life; sometimes using it to slow us down in life. At least we have many people who go to prison and come back becoming great in life. We have Joseph who left his father’s house, served as servant, went to jail and rose to the throne. All these challenges have not affected me negatively, rather it has improved me greatly.
Each time the condemnation comes, I know something great is about to happen. So it’s a blessing. I see those who have been condemning me as friends. I want to say to everyone that God is just not a beginner but a finisher. You need to look inward and check what you are doing today and ask if you will be able to do it tomorrow or do better? So you can begin to ask for more strength from God. It will be too soon for anyone to say “I have arrived “. No, the journey continues. I want to say to you: Thank you very much. In the book of Mathew 5, the Bible says “love your neighbour as yourself.” Our neighbour could be our enemies or those who do not share the same faith with us. We should love them all. We are all known by our love. If you have that kind of love you will not need to ask if someone is a Muslim or a Christian before you extend your love. No one can change anyone, we preach the gospel but God makes it work.
We are in a new year, what prophesies do you have for the nation?
it is too soon to tell people prophecies.
Christmas just passed, what does Christmas mean to you?
It’s love. We should love our neighbour, I have said it all. Love was born at Christmas .Faithfulness was born at Christmas. Kindness was born at Christmas. The fruit of the spirit was all born at Christmas. There is no way we can express Christmas than to say the love was born at Christmas. We should dedicate ourselves to the service of God, live and love our neighbours.
What are your expectations for the 2011 elections?
The only prayer I offer is that God should make April real, because there will be challenges that will threaten the April elections. Those challenges God has shown me .Many of these challenges are changeable and many are unchangeable. So I’m praying. It will be too early for me to begin to outline the challenges when I’m asking God to change many of them which I’m seeing. In the election there will be many challenges. I’m praying that April will be real so as to promote democracy in Nigeria.
People will like to know the challenges; can you tell us some of them?
Let me tell you the reason why I have been very careful. Before Nigeria was fifty last October, I had started calling on people to pray since July 1 that I was seeing fire and booming sounds. I related it on television and it was shown. I said I saw some people being arrested. I kept saying it, even when October 1 was two days away I repeated i. Nothing was done. Nobody came to ask me about what I said I saw. Again, I said I foresaw extension of election dates. In July I kept saying it but nobody asked me what I was saying. Eventually the date of the election was extended. When the issue of the late president Yar’ adua came up, I said “I’m seeing a coffin, a wooden frame, they put someone in it and it will cause the flag of Nigeria to be brought down.” I said the person to be affected is a leader. And nobody asked me what I meant. I can begin to tell you many others that were recorded and said publicly to the whole world. So if I now also come and begin to tell you the challenges that will threaten the April elections, of what effect will it be. You know what it is if you say something and no one is taking any notice of it. The prophesy was in most newspapers. But one thing which I will still repeat anywhere anyday is that I pray that the April election will be real. We should also pray against what will make the situation be like what is happening in Ivory Coast today, where there is imposition of leadership which is gradually degenerating into regional conflict. We should pray that whoever will be declared winner should be with a large margin.
President Jonathan once likened his coming to the throne to what happened between David and Saul ,that he was not expecting he would get there and now he is there. In the light of that, as a religious leader in Nigeria, do you approve of his contesting the elections. Do you think he his God’s appointed president for the country come 2011?
When you look at Nigeria as a whole you will discover there is no love in this country. Where there is no love it is very very difficult have God’s manifestation. Consider what happened in Nazareth in Jerusalem when Jesus went there, he thought he could do many miracles as he did in other places but he found himself doing few because there was no love. Back to what you are saying concerning the words of the president, if he said it is God’s doing, are you doubting the power of God.
From all you have said, can you tell Nigerians that this country is set to go as far as 2020 as one country?
You people are forcing me to say what I don’t want to say, Now write it down and quote me “let us pray for April to be real.” That is all. Because I foresee that going to court to contend results will interest people any longer. People will not show interest in it again. Let us pray against it. It is the court that will be able to sort things out but people at that time will not be interested in going to court. Let us pray that April will be real to avoid a situation where people will not agree or give any regard to court actions, thereby creating a clash of region against region.
How do you view the action of President Jonathan kneeling to be prayed for at the Holy Ghost service that held last December? Was he trying to be partisan by his visit?
One thing you must note is that that one stands does not mean his or her body is standing. So, the position we are when we pray for people does not mean anything. What matters is the divine nature. That should not be a source of disagreement. Sometimes you may be on your knees and in the spirit, you are proud. So the one inside is what matters. Whether one kneels down to pray or not is not as important as the spiritual state of one’s mind. When I say in the name of Jesus, it is not Mr. T.B. Joshua saying it but prophet T.B. Joshua. So we have two natures in the human body –human and divine. It is our divine nature that prays not our human. It is just like the case of closing your eyes when you pray; whether you close your eyes or not, we regard it as a traditional way of prayer.
Bowing down of head for prayer is also something traditional, not necessarily spiritual. The same thing with clapping of hands for Jesus. Physically you may not be clapping, but you may be doing so in the spirit. So, whatever position you decide to take when you pray is okay by me as long as you are in spirit with me.The fact that you stand or sit when praying does not make you inferior or superior, the position does not matter. It is the state of our mind that matters.
Your church has been involved in various charity programmes, while many see it as what the church should be doing for the society some others still say it is a strategy to draw more people to your church. What would you say to this?
Let me put it this way: Seventy percent of foreigners who arrive at the Muritala International Airport in Lagos are visitors to our church. If you move round the church now you will see people from different countries. We have various ministers from different countries presently here in the compound. By giving aid materials to the people of Haiti as we did during the natural disaster that befell them the last time, are you now saying we went to Haiti to ask them to be members of the church. This’s not possible. Again, because of what we are doing for the dwarfs, can we force them to come to church to come and be members? For the dwarfs in Nigeria, almost two hundred of them, we run a non-governmental organisation. We rent houses, give them accommodation and let them marry and have children. Same for the physically challenged. I want to say the moment you begin to feel what your neighbour feels, or feel the hurt of others, you will begin to succeed in life. So this is life of Christ. The wound of one is the wound of all. The Trouble of one is the trouble of all. When you look at the various political parties, you will find different religions and they all work together. When they get to their various places of worship, they begin to condemn themselves. The same thing happens in your various work places.
Can you tell us more on the recent attack on you by one of your members?
Well, the gun is still in the police station. We have recovered three guns. The story is in the newspapers. A brother came with a gun tucked inside his pants, he also had about three knives and acid. Well, we thank God. What will I say now? Even if they didn’t bring all these to the church, some people will still be out there saying ‘let us go and attack him.’ They have seen those who brought it and how they were arrested. They will now know that this man is very accessible but untouchable. So, I think I want to give the glory to God; that when I’m weak, then I am strong. God has been manifesting himself in my weakness. Like the Bible says; no one is perfect. All that is happening around me is beyond me, I don’t know how they happen. I’m just a human being just like you. I cannot stand to say that this is how it happened.
