We do agree that there is danger of death if she tells the husband.  You make important point that she should take a DNA test which means you will advise her to wait till she gives birth to the baby before bringing things out in the open.
You have the best interest of the unborn baby at heart.

I do imagine this question within myself as God is the creator of all things, I do imagine who created him?
Ask and you shall receive.  Knock and the door shall be opened.  Seek and you shall find.  Make sure of all things.

God exists.  He is the creator of all things and beings.  He told us in His Holy Book "The Bible" that he is the first and the last.  I honestly do not know how God came about, but I know that He created us, and for that reason alone, we should give Him reverence.  I accept God with a child-like faith, all believing.

God likes those that seek His face.  I think since you are curious, you should continue to ask God to reveal more of Himself to you.  I know He will.  Keep asking, and God will answer you Himself.  God has not given us a Spirit of fear, but of Love, Power and Sound Mind.  God is a Spirit and those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.  God is not a man that He should Lie.  Trust God.  The more you study God, the more you know God.  There are knowledge that you will learn about God more in the Spirit realm, and He promises that he will complete your training.  Do not depend on others to teach you about God, go to God to teach you about Himself.  All the best.

All Glory goes to God.  Wishing you Divine Guidance and God's richest blessings.

does it guaranty a successful marriage ?no . my cousin spent 400k in naira . marriage packed up after 5 years ... igbo marriages , inspite of all the financial brimborium in contracting them , are just as vulnerable ... very bad aspect of the  culture .

must be changed .

Hey fella,
Are demands not part of the marriage rites? what are the differences please?

Also i know better than to stereotype, its no stereotyping - u just taking offence on a very simple question.
How many Igbo girls have you tried to marry and you were told you had to train the entire family or told that was tradition?

Sorry (Igbos) - i dont intend to take offence, but am not the author of the article - it was published in daily champion - a very popular Nigerian tabloid and i thought we could discuss it here.....

I think the article is very true though....

there's nothing to debate Sam....just tell me anywhere it was written or said to be part of igbo traditional marriage rites dat must be done nd completed.
that some ppl chose to deviate somewhat eitther bcos they want to b generous...show off...imitate...show love..for wotever reason of theirs does not make it a tradition.
if we hv 2 start picking out viruses dat has eaten deep in our different ethnic societies...i'm sure no tribe will go virus free...
i wonder why u or d so called writer/researcher ma foot...is so much interested in something dat is basically individual's choice instead of tradition.

Sure traditional rites are deep in every ethnic group - Look i am not saying its a bad tradition, its just so that you can appreciate what you have when you remember what youve been through before getting it  -  and i dont know why some igbos are not proud of it.

For you saying its not a tradition is very wrong because when the parents are questioned about their demands, their response is that its the tradition (of the land and their fore fathers) - so its definitly the tradition.

DGuy, how many Igbo girls have you gone to marry and you were told it was tradition?

Dguy, you think the article is very true, I say you are wrong.  This may have happened to some guys, but it is generalizing, and the person including yourself do not understand the Igbo culture and customs.  Your assumption and presumptions is quite wrong.  Your apology is hollow.

Its not an assumption, if you are igbo you will know - you get to refund all what the girls family has spent in training the girl (except for time) then you need to pay the bride price (profit).

I am Igbo.  In the old time, yes, but not in this day and age.  A man that marries into an Igbo family becomes a member of the family.  If he chooses to help members of his family, that is an honor to him, but it is never forced.  A man does it because he wants to.  Nobody expects him or forces him to do that.  The prayer is for them to live happily ever after and to go forth and multiply.  You are assuming things that are not true.  It may happen in some families, but that is not a reason to brand all Igbo families as practicing the same thing.  It is up to the groom if he wants to help the family.
