Forum / Relationships & Romance / Re: The cost of marrying an Igbo lady |
on: 19-06-2009 03:17 PM
| Dear, It is a pity that we run ourselves down publicly this way. I am sure that you are not an Igbo man and if you are, it is a shame that you have to post this type of article here. We as Igbos are custodians of our great culture and tradition and this differs from one Igbo cummunity to another. People have been getting married all these years and only people who are no goods condemn what we have so inherited.
There is no law in any part of Igbo land that says a prospective in-law must train the family of his wife. It has always been an Honour for a man to take up responsibilities in his in-laws' family. No one has ever been mandated to do so anywhere. If you know of any, do let us know.
The issue of prospective in-laws making demands is only but Igbo Tradition...It is not mandatory that you will provide all those things...and coming to eat and drink is the fun of the celebration of marriage...it has always been so, even in the Bible...was it not a marriage ceremony that Jesus turned water into wine?
All men are not equal financially and anyone who is willing to marry does so within his means...nobody mandates anybody to go beyond his reach.
Our girls are the best and our tradition only celebrates their virtures. To make things straight here...Igbo girls are not for Sale.
Thanks. Igbo girls are the best!

| We are all correct in our judgement. But I must ask all of us 2 really look @ it from d spiritual angle-dat man is sick, spiritually. What he really needs is not a jail term, not even stoning him 2 death but a serious prayer for God 2 deliver him and dis country. Maybe its a wake-up call 4 we Nigerians 2 call on God because what I see and hear on daily basis are not ordinary but should be treated spiritually.
After I pray for him, I will still throw him in jail, and organized a regular molesting session for him, after castration.

| MY QUESTION IS, WAS IT BY RAPE? THE POSTER REFUSED TO STATE IF THE MAN IN QUESTION RAPED THE LITTLE GIRL OR IT WAS BY MUTUAL AGREEMENT. BELIEVE IT OR NOT, LITTLE GIRLS OF TODAY ARE NO LONGER AFRAID OF ANY SIZE OF MAN, YOU WILL SEE A GIRL OF 15 AND YOU'LL THINK SHE KNOWS NOTHING, IF YOU DIG DEEP YOU'LL FIND OUT THAT SHE DATES EVEN GUYS THAT ARE OLDER THAN YOU. IF THIS 11 YEAR OLD OPENED HER LEGS FOR THE 44 YEAR OLD CONVENIENTLY THAT MEANS SHE SHOULD BE BLAMED TOO. HAVEN'T SAID THAT EVEN IF IT WAS A MUTUAL AGREEMENT, THE MAN IN QUESTION IS A BEAST.
This is rape. An 11 year old child does not understand segxwal consent.

| everyone here is talking only about the man. have you asked who trained the eleven year old? pregnancy is not an instant thing, it takes at least 16 days (to complete month) to know you are pregnant. nobody ever knew it was going on. since we did not hear of a case of rape, i am asking - who trained the eleven year old?
classical case of blame the victim. An 11 year old is a child, the old man should have been teaching her right from wrong, but the old man is sick inside his head. How can an 11 year old child be attractive to a 44 year old man? Put him in jail, castrate him, have him repeatedly raped hour by the hour.

| My head dey rise i am seriously learning. This is interesting. Thanks al 4 d advice. But i have to open up that my family are objecting bcos say na EDO boy oooo and me be yoruba. Racist. I dont have a smal luk neither am nt experience,am an inspiratn writer,i have seen and knw alot at my tender age.
What are the differences between the two ethnic groups? The Yorubas have their own language while the Edo's have their own language. Do you speak both languages? What are the cultural and traditional differences? Have you both studied them? Are you aware that in some Edo culture that after the wedding night, there is a particular color cloth you are supposed to wear in the morning to visit the relatives? Do your parents speak your in-laws language? What is your future mother in-law feelings? What is your future father in-law feelings towards this marriage? Does your fiance have other siblings? Is he coming from a polygamous home? You honestly have a lot of work to do spiritually. My gut instinct is to ask you not to marry this boy. I do not have a good feeling about this wedding. Be patient, you will meet a nice man soon. This things U highlight 4 me really pinch me Quinn, are U 4rm Edo? No, I am not from Edo. Please listen to your parents this time. They are 100% correct. You will receive multiple blessings if you do. You are very family oriented. You love children. I am not worried about you and maturity. I am worried about you marrying the wrong man, and this man you desire to marry is not the right man for you. Please obey and honor your parents on this one.

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Should "Ability To Cook" Be A Prerequisite For Marrying A Lady? |
on: 15-04-2009 04:30 PM
| Hey guys lets get serious here. Is it actually food a man would require in a woman in other to put her in his house? (hell no). Our mother used to tell their daughters in the good old days that, "the secret to a man's heart is in the belly but, i bring yoou good news today and counter that saying because the word as we all know has gone global so also demands have followed suit. Any man who would marry a woman all because she is a good cook must be a glutton. Does that mean that, men would no longer get married all because, they miss their mother's magical touch in their bellies? Lets get personal now the secret to a man's heart nowadays is actually below the belly (if you know what i mean there). This days men have been really useful in the kitchen and according to research, the best cooks or chefs are actually men. Should a man starve himself all because his wife is not back from work? People of God...... wots your say?
You are young but you are filled with wisdom.

| Who should cook if she doesn't know how to cook? Look, a man can own a kitchen in all those oyinbo country, but in Naija, in Africa....that's the only place in the house where a woman has 100% authority.
Maybe you guys think that a statement OL'OBE LOL'OKO (A GOOD COOK OWNS THE HUSBAND) is not true. I also hear that THE ONLY WAY TO A MAN'S HEART IS THROUGH THE MOUTH.
Women: If you don't know how to cook, you'd better go learn it now.
And come to think of it, if a woman knows how to cook, then she must have learnt some manners too. So it's hard to see a good cook with bad characters.
I have a male cousin that is now married. His wife is from Nigeria and my cousin is from Nigeria. They still live in Nigeria. The husband is the one that does all the cooking because he cooks better than his wife. It works very well for them. They opened a restaurant and the husband is the cook also in their business. Life is changing. It has nothing to do with foreign countries and foreign behaviour. Whatever that works best for a couple is what they should implement for themselves regardless of what other people are saying or advising them. Men that cook better than women should be proud of themselves and there is nothing about men knowing how to cook that makes them less of a man. My husband was from Nigeria and he knew how to cook better than myself and he taught me. I have countless male relatives that cook for their wives or have taught their wives how to cook. Both partners should endeavour to learn how to cook. We take a vow that states in sickness and in health during marriage. The man should know how to cook should his wife get sick and the wife should learn how to cook should the husband get sick also. Share the cooking with one another, wash dishes together, clean house together, pray together, etc. Doing things together are all part of spending time together. The bedroom is not the only sharing place. If you love me, help me around the house. You make the mess also. Sister, Wat if the lady is the spoilt/lazy type who feels her fingers are 2 precious 2 touch an onion...? I knw of many ladies who'd prefer 2 invite friends 2 help them cook, with the excuse that "I jst fixed my nails" e.t.c Also, some ladies prefer to cook once in 2 weeks & store in the fridge.....could such food (e.g soup) still be delicious...?not 2 even question the nutritive depletion. We should encourage young ladies to learn while they're still with their parents, rather than waiting 4 the uncultural intervention of a "cook book". Thx. Onions makes a person cry and some are allergic to onions. If the husband does not suffer such maladies, he should help in the cutting of the onions. If a lady has friends willing to help her in preparing foods because she just had her nails done, good for her, just advise her to put on gloves next time and cook her food. You can store soup in the freezer and take them out and defrost the night or the same day and warm it up and it is still fresh and all nutrients still remains in the cooked soup. Parents should teach both boys and girls how to cook and not relegate the cooking chores only to the girls. There is nothing wrong with cookbooks. Nigerians should be proud of their dishes and delicacies, they should endevor to put their dishes into a cookbook. Nigerians marry girls from abroad and girls that do not know how to prepare Nigerian dishes should have the ability to learn how to prepare many dishes from cookbooks from Nigeria if they so desire. There are no set rules when it comes to parenting. Nobody knows whom their children will marry. You can teach a Nigerian girl how to cook Nigerian foods, but at the end she ends up falling in love with a white man or Chinese man, she still has to learn how to cook from the culture she married into. The same rule will apply to the man also who marries a girl that is not Nigerian. A Nigerian girl could fall in love with another ethnic group from Nigeria. We all cook differently from Nigeria itself. A Yoruba family will very likely cook different things from a Hausa family and if those children fall in love, cooking has to be re-learned. We need to have an open mind. We need to stop being so rigid and allow our culture and traditions to grow even within Nigeria itself.

Forum / Religion / Re: Is tattoo demonic? |
on: 30-03-2009 06:26 PM
| Tattoos are not demonic. My great great great grandmother wore tattoos which they called "uli" at that time. It lasted approximately three months before it faded away and they applied new ones on. The ink used in tattoos right now are way too permanent and I wish that the ink used in the old times in Nigeria could be revived and used in North America, Europe, Africa, etc. I think young people will welcome that long lasting temporary ink from Nigeria.
My brother has his dog tattooed on himself. He has Psalm 23, as well as the military code honor because he is a second lieutenant in the Air Force.
To assume that tattoos are demonic is judgmental. I never knew that there were society people that used it to identify themselves.
There are many religious groups that are against hair braiding, makeup, jewellery, etc. It does not mean that people who do those things are demonic people.
I think we will all be surprised at the end to see the people that enter the Kingdom of God. It may not be those "righteous than thou"!

| Wait and treasure your body. If your boyfriend cannot wait, he needs to come to your parents and ask for your hand in marriage. It is important that you obey God and do not commit fornication.
You may love your boyfriend, but I think you should love God more.

| To err is human and to forgive is divine. The man has asked for your forgiveness. He can't do more than that.Shit happens and we just have to take it the way it comes.Who knows whether you were the cause of it.Do you give him adequate sex?
This is a low blow. If he was not satisfied segxwally with his previous girlfriend, he should have spoken to her regarding what he likes and what he does not like. If she was unwilling to provide, it was his duty to break off the relationship before pursuing another one. Regardless of what the reason was from the man, the most important thing is for the girl to forgive but move on with her life. This is not her husband.

| your bf don become landlord be that
You understand what the boyfriend was aiming for. The boyfriend did not want to pay rent so he chose to be the landlord instead. He will be marrying the girl. I think the other girl should move on with her life while forgiving him for his stupidity. There is no need for the former relationship to continue. The new landlord should finish what he started, marry the girl he got pregnant and become full fledged landlord. This guy knows what he is doing, but he should not be allowed to have his cake and eat it too. You can forgive him and still move on. This is a deliberate act on the man's part.

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Re: Are the Nigerian IGBO people from the jewish descendants |
on: 5-02-2009 07:59 AM
| Hey some 'over-educated' Igbo man was telling me that all IGBOS came from the jewish descendants, maybe he didnt know i was a member of Naijapals and i will come here to find out the truth, please guys tell me is this true or not?
Dguy, I am not sure if your man is "over-educated" or not. I think there may be some truth whether Igbos are from ancient Israel. There are certain stories in the bible that still remains today as if the story in the bible are the igbo people story. Examples: Akeludeme? - field of blood - this is exactly the same meaning in the igbo language and has not changed. NRI - the inscription written on the cross when our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified is a place where Igbos crown their kings to date. Tel Takume - meaning Tata teta na ula kuoume - Little child (girl) wake up from your sleep. Eloi, eloi, lema sabaka tianni - meaning exactly what it means in the igbo language because the land broke in half including the temple curtain. Maranata- igbo to remind Him to Come Lord Come. There are too many examples in the bible. It is actually very obvious to me that Apostle Paul is an Igbo man indicating that the chances of some Igbos coming from the Benjamin tribe is likely. Being the youngest of the tribe, writing down their history had never been their strongest suit. The igbos do not keep old things so finding their history would also be difficult. They have a habit of burying things too so archaelogist will have a field day in discovering Igbo ancestries. Genealogy always causes immense friction so it is always better to leave well alone. I am comfortable in accepting and believing that Igbos are from ancient Israel. It is also important to remember Revelation 2:9; and Revelation 3:9. It is indicated in the Catholic Bible (Macabees) that the real jews were forbidding from acknowledging that they are jews. May explain part of why Igbos being called Jews were ceased (this is a guess on my part) It has been a while, but in the earlier times, the Igbos money had the star of David on their coins. There was a time that the Nigerian flag bared the star of David also. If people search for these coins they will find it. For they have gathered together and said "let Israel not exist". The Igbos may have lost their identity because there was a concerted effort to deny them their heritage, but I think if Igbos knew the rights and place in history, that all the powers used in resurrecting the death will return back to them. Some people have complained about some Igbos being ritualistic, greedy, betrayal tendencies. These are all tendencies done by those that live in the flesh and not in the spirit, and this is not only fleshly sins given to some igbos. It covers all races and cultures also, but not everybody in that race or culture is like that. Igbos had an original language before that is in UK museum. I think it is translated in English to mean the "Living Word". I heard that there are very few Igbos that speak that language to date. I have also seen movies made in North America where they show that the ancient ones are igbos. They are not explicit because after they show you the people that have the knowledge and the beginning of the world, they will end it with an Igbo man speaking the Igbo language saying "O ga di mma" I think a lot of Europeans and North American whites are aware of this truth, but it is some how important to keep this knowledge a secret. What I think that if Igbos are aware of their heritage, they will be able to perform all the spiritual gifts and powers that were given to their forefathers in the ancient times. Remain blessed. wow!!! aint dat something? Thanks. Remain blessed.
