Love story was just an insurance campaign, telling people to "get insured to assure".

There was no true love in the story of odd couple Mark and Audrey.

Their "love against all odds" turned out to be a campaign by an insurance company to get "insured to assure their loved ones"

Followers of the love story between the unexpected couple, a 23-year-old man named Mark and his lover Audrey, aged 47, were directed to a site on April 15 to watch their "wedding ceremony".

Couple’s touching love story may be made into a movie

Obasanjo said that no one had ever insulted him like Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State. Obasanjo said his experience with the governor taught him to limit his interventions in the governance of the state and would guide his relationship with any future governor of the state.

The former President spoke at the Journalists’ Estate, Arepo, Ogun State during a campaign tour he undertook on Sunday to boost the electoral chances of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Tunji Olurin. Obasanjo, who took questions from the members of the community and encouraged them to hold nothing back, was told by a member of the crowd that the last eight years of the party had yielded little in terms of development in most areas of the state. The questioner then asked him to give cogent reasons why they should vote for his party.

31  Forum / Sports / Fernando Torres Finally End His Goal Drought on: 23-04-2011 08:41 PM
Fernando Torres' long awaited first goal sealed a 2-0 victory for Chelsea over West Ham United
and ensures the Blues' remain six points behind Manchester United at a rain soaked Stamford Bridge. The result keeps Carlo Ancelotti's side six points off the pace and keeps Avram Grant's side rooted to the foot of the Premier League table.

Both Chelsea and West Ham, managed by former Chelsea boss Avram Grant, fashioned plenty of chances in an open and flowing game but failed to hit the back of the net which leaves them deep in relegation strife.

Both sides had big name players unavailable for the clash with Alex and Ramires out for Chelsea, West Ham were without the services of newly-crowned Football Writer’s Player of the Year, Scott Parker. Chelsea however have the strength in depth to cope better with these injuries.

With the deluge omnipresent throughout the first half, chances were raining down on both goals but neither side could find the accuracy required to open the scoring. Both Florent Malouda and Salomon Kalou both broke the West Ham defences open but in the case of Malouda, when one-on-one with Robert Green, he should have chipped the ball over the advancing ‘keeper instead of trying to place it low.

As was expected much of the action in the first period was played in the Hammers half and stout defending was the order of the day for the team from east London. They were always open to the chance of launching a counter attack and this ploy almost paid dividends when Demba Ba let fly a rasping drive from distance which required Petr Cech to act with urgency.

London -Fifty-two Nigerians will be deported, today, by the UK government, a Nigerian official at the High Commission in London has said.

Mr Mohammed Isa, the Head of the Immigration Section in the Nigerian High Commission in the UK, speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, said that the would-be deportees would arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in a chartered flight.

He said that they included those who had either completed their prison terms, failed-asylum seekers or those who overstayed their authorised permit.

Mohammed further also said that those to be deported would be accompanied by British law enforcement agents and two Nigerian officials.

“This is the first time a chartered flight conveying Nigerian deportees would be accompanied by Nigerian officials,” Isa said.

He added: “Though, it is also in line with the global best practices, it is our responsibility to ensure that the deportees are treated in the most humane and dignified manner.”

He pointed out that the mission had never recorded any `ugly incidents’ on the UK route since the exercise began following the conclusion in 2005, of a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) on migration returns between the two countries.

President Goodluck Jonathan has condemned the post -election crisis that engulfed some states in Northern Nigeria saying that the perpetrators will be punished.

Mr. Jonathan said this in a broadcast early Thursday morning adding that the violence that has led to the death of many people and destruction of public infrastructure is undermining the success of the ongoing general elections.

“My fellow countrymen and women, enough is enough,” the President declared.

Riots broke out on Sunday and Monday in several cities in Northern Nigeria as traditional rulers and leading politicians’ homes were targeted in the turbulence that left many dead and others injured. The revolt was sparked by the victory of Mr. Jonathan over the local favourite, Muhammadu Buhari, a retired army general and former military head of state.

“Sadly, some misguided elements do not share in the spirit of our democratic achievements. They formed into groups of miscreants; and struck with deadly and destructive force in some parts of the country. They killed and maimed innocent citizens. They set ablaze business premises, private homes and even places of worship. In some cases, they showed utter disrespect to all forms of authority, including our most revered traditional institutions. They singled out and harassed nationalistic politicians. They intimidated travellers,” Mr. Jonathan added.

Mr. Jonathan concluded that the violence has gone beyond, ‘mere political protests.’

37  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / United Kingdom Deports 52 Nigerians on: 21-04-2011 04:51 PM
52-Nigerians deported from the United Kingdom (UK) were received yesterday at the Cargo Hajj Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

The deportees arrived Nigeria aboard a chartered aircraft which touched down about 6.30 p.m.

Some of the deportees, who spoke with journalists at the terminal, expressed disappointment on the attitude of Nigerian officials in the UK to assist them in taking some of their belongings and money from the banks.

They said the situation made it difficult for them to be received by their family members or friends on arrival.

The situation, however took a pathetic turn, when some of the deportees were seen soliciting for alms to enable them get to their destinations within the country.

One of the deportees, Ikponmuosa Aghahowa, said he had lived in Spain for 11 years before he was arrested and put in prison for 20 days before he was finally deported.

His words: “I have 1, 500 Euro in the bank. I have property worth 4,000 Euro, now I am here without anything.

“Why? Why am I being treated this way? Coming home with a pair of trouser and a shirt only? Why?” He alleged that among the deportees were those who had either completed their prison terms, failed-asylum seekers or those who overstayed their authorised permit.

39  Forum / Sports / Didier Drogba to be put up for sale by Chelsea on: 20-04-2011 03:14 PM

The Ivorian striker, 33, has not enjoyed his best season for the club after suffering from malaria earlier in the campaign, an illness that kept him sidelined for several weeks, and he is now having to contend with competition from Chelsea’s new £50 million signing, Fernando Torres.
The nairabrain suggests that Chelsea would be willing to sell Drogba as they look to offer Torres a more focal role next season, when they will also have Daniel Sturridge returning from a successful loan spell at Bolton.
“Torres is a fantastic transfer, not just for the present but also the future,
“To judge him now is not right. We have to wait. He is a fantastic striker who is not living a good moment, but we have to move on. He will be a fantastic player for the future of Chelsea.

There is sure to be no shortage of options for Drogba, with his former club Marseille known to be keen on bringing the striker back to the club where he made his name. Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, now coach of Real Madrid, is also thought to want Drogba at the Bernabeu.

Chelsea have long been linked with Anderlecht wonderkid Romelu Lukaku, who has previously been described as "the new Drogba", and at 17 the club could be set to replace their long-serving striker with a younger model as they aim to reduce the average age of their squad.

40  Forum / Sports / Harry Redknapp rejects replacing Chelsea's Carlo Ancelotti on: 20-04-2011 03:07 PM
Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has rubbished reports linking him with a move to Chelsea.

Many have speculated that Carlo Ancelotti could be headed for the exit door at the end of the season, after having been unable to guide the Blues to a trophy this campaign, with Redknapp linked with a move across London to as a potential successor.

However, he told the The Mirror: "I don't take a lot of notice. I just get on with it. It's speculation.

"I've never spoken to anyone from Chelsea. No-one's come to me and said that Chelsea are interested in me or anything else.

"I've got a job to do here. I love it here. I'm happy here."

The Spurs boss also believes that his side is only "one or two additions" away from competing to win the Premier League.

"I keep saying, this club isn't that far away - if they want to push on - from winning the championship," Redknapp said.

"You can't stand still. It means improving. Better players make you a better team. With one or two additions, I think we can go on and push for the title."

The ex-West Ham United boss believes that spending will be essential over the summer if the side are to remain successful.

He continued: "Everyone will go at it in the summer. Arsenal will. Liverpool will - Liverpool are going to be a team to be reckoned with next year.
