Some months back, news broke that the marriage of talented actress Omotola Jalade is under threat following a butt-grabbing incident by her escort at the 2011 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

In a phone chat with Captain Ekehinde by Ekerete Udoh in NewYork, Omotola’s husband he responded to the rumour.

I am very proud of my wife’s accomplishments and I join other well wishers and millions of her fans to toast her success. I’m a little surprised that instead of Nigerians celebrating her appearance at the Grammys and her, being the first Nollywood star to walk the red carpet; they are busy spreading tales and rumors that do not exist.

Truth be told, I was not angry with my wife when I saw the picture. Why should I be? I know who I married, how self-respecting she is and also the nature of her industry. She is an actress for God’s sake, and it is not out of place for actresses to appear in scenes that may look a little out of place for a married person.

The key thing is that my wife respects her marital status, and in our 15 year marriage, she has been the best woman any man could aspire to have. In spite of her stardom, at home, she is my wife. She cooks for me, takes care of the home and above all, is a great mother to our lovely children.

I sincerely would implore her fans not to buy into rumors and speculations about her marital life, because I, the husband the one that is lucky to have her as my wife is so proud of her and I continue to thank God for bringing her into my life. I could never have asked for a better wife than her” Mr. Ekeinde a commercial airline pilot had concluded.

Uche Jombo’s UJ Studios is set to premiere its latest flick titled “Damage”. It would premiere on July 31st 2011 at the Silver bird Cinemas.
‘Damage’ is part of a collection of three distinct but interwoven stories, aimed at advocacy for social issues; each story addresses important problems affecting individuals, families and societies at large.


The movie aims to break new grounds in creating precedents in the Nigerian movie industry.

Johnny Knoxville continues to mourn the death of his very good friend and Jackass costar Ryan Dunn. After speaking at Dunn's memorial service on Wednesday, Knoxville took to his blog to say "what I wished I could have told everyone then."

Knoxville says that he was too overcome with emotion at the service to be able to really express how he felt. "I walked to the podium and tried to share memories of my dear friend, but the words were just spinning in my head," he wrote. "What came out were the mumblings of a man trying his best not to cry, and I wasn't even successful at that. I didn't break down, because I knew [Dunn's girlfriend] Angie or his family didn't need to see that, but I also didn't get to properly convey what Ryan meant to me. I won't be able to do that here either, but I will try."

"I felt 34-percent funnier when I was with Ryan, but I guess everyone did. He had such a hair trigger laugh reflex," Knoxville remembered "He lived his life wanting to laugh and wanting you to laugh with him. He would cackle really f**king loud, too, and it wasn't uncommon that he would fall over from it. Sometimes I would fall with him because his spirit was very contagious."

Calling his pal "loyal" and a "great listener," Knoxville says Dunn had a huge heart to go long with his sense of humor.

"Ryan also had an enormous capacity to love. His friends and family got a lot, but a lion's share of that went to his sweet and beautiful Angie. If he wasn't with her he would be talking about her. More times than not he would smile wide through that filthy ass beard of his and say something along the lines of, "How did I ever luck up and land her?" Well, it sure wasn't because of the way he smelled that's for sure. (Dunn despised water and rarely bathed.) It was because he had a pure, open heart, and many other qualities of which I am writing about now."

Knoxville recalled having to tell his daughter of Dunn's death, and revealed how sad he was that his son, Rocko, and his baby on the way will never know his friend. "I cry a lot about that," he said.

"You'll have to excuse me," Knoxville wrote in closing. "I'm just very sad because I lost my brother and my world got about 134-percent less funny. I don't know what else to say right now, so I will close with I love you, Ryan. I have a lot of emotions swirling, but I want you to know I love you so very much.

Dunn died on June 20, after his Porsche went through a guardrail on Route 322 in West Goshen Township, Pa. Dunn's pal Zachary Hartwell was also killed in the crash. Police later revealed that Dunn's blood-alcohol level was way over the legal limit and that his car had been traveling between 132 and 140 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

Accusations have been threaded by both parties with rumors making the rounds that her husband had put another girl in the family way and that the actress had chosen to date other younger men outside her marriage. Those rumors remain unsubstantiated but Chika's ex-boyfriend has been singing himself hoarse claiming that she is not the saint everybody thinks she is and is as bad as they come in Nollywood. He claims that she'd married her husband because of his money and not out of love and that she also is not very interested in his church activities which was the reason why she'd been spending so much time outside her marital home. As it stands right now, another Nollywood marriage has gone sploof in the air and it seems this trend will continue because we have heard severally that Ngozi Ezeonu is having problems in her marriage. There were suggestions recently that Olu Jacobs and wife Joke had broken up. Rumors are also rife that Oge Okoye's Marriage to her Belgium based husband has also gone down the drain. The question then is what is the reason why so many marriages in Nollywood break up? We will seek out the answers for you next week.

Just call her Dr. Winfrey! Oprah Winfrey was on hand to receive an honorary doctorate degree from the University of the Free State in South Africa on Friday.

The daytime TV icon spoke to the students of the school where, five years ago, four white students made a video humiliating black housekeeping staff. In the clip, the housekeepers were shown eating a stew the students had mimed spiking with urine.

When Winfrey took the stage to receive her degree, she called the five cleaners up to join her and pronounced them heroes.

"What has happened here at Free State in terms of racial reconciliation, of peace, of harmony, of one heart understanding and opening itself to another heart is nothing short of a miracle," she said. "It is truly what the new South Africa is all about."

Winfrey shed tears as she accepted her degree, in front of a roaring crowd of hundreds. Receiving the 152nd honorary degree given out by the university, the citation accompanying her honor said said Winfrey "has truly become a South African. She did so because she believed that there was important work to be done here, and she wanted to be part of what Nelson Mandela and others had begun."

2010 marked the inauguration of the BET Awards Best International Act, Africa category. It was history in the making as African acts were nominated for the awards: M.I, P-Square, Kojo Antwi among the nominees. It was also history in the making for Lillynaija, the first African owned online publication to be invited to the BET Awards to cover both the pre-awards and awards red carpet event.
