Why do we still have and listen to these so called traditional rulers. I mean seriously, what do they actually do to contribute to the development of their states?

My fellow youths, it would be an understatement to describe the state of current affairs in our country as heading in the wrong direction. We are more like committing suicide and every single one of us (that's right) every one has a hand in the pool of problems we face. After over 50 years of our so-called independence, we cannot proudly say we are free from the grip of corruption, greedy leaders, and heartless dictators disguised as the promoters of 'democracy'. Poverty is increasing at an alarming rate, our healthcare is nothing to write home about, the educational system is a joke, and we have unemployment spreading like a plague. However, I'll tell you what the worst problem is: we do nothing.
Don't get me wrong, we have made great strides in the past, and we have produced great individuals in different fields of life, but how long must we sit on the laurels of the past. We have a lot of intelligent people who would excel in whatever they choose to do and even possess the ability to be world leaders in those fields. Yet, the only thing these people meet is frustration, and neglect from the system that is supposed to assist and promote them. I don't even want to begin to talk about the evils that prevail in our society. What I want to say is that we need to stop just sitting back in our homes and saying 'God intervene', or 'i go beta soon'. True freedom and change comes with action, determination, conviction and ever so often sacrifice. Until we realize that our government is powerless without us and that we the citizens are the ones who dictate the course of things in our nation, we might as well prepare for another century of decline. Don't get me wrong, I love my country like every other patriotic citizen, but please don't just hope for change but be part of the change you desire. speak up and be fearless. Don't get into a position of power and do the same things you accused those before you of. Please our fate is in our hands. Be wise my friends.
