1  Forum / The Buzz Central / The bad portray of Nigeria image on: 25-08-2013 11:21 PM
I watched a video last night on Naijapals http://www.gistmania.com/talk/topic,168070.0.html and I was dumbfounded on how people think very shallow regarding a very sensitive issue that happened in Nigeria Embassy in Ottawa, Canada.  It will be rational if fellow Nigerians and people from other countries categorically extricate between corruption and mismanagement. Certainly, there’s corruption and mismanagement in the Nigeria government as well as every other country in the world. The issue here is, to what degree are corruption and mismanagement in these countries, and what are the strategies they employ to minimize the aforementioned societal problems because they cannot be eliminated in society but reduce.  The Nigeria government is currently having management problem and some sort of corruption issue too but that is not a predicate that people everywhere in the world will tag Nigeria as the most corrupt nation in the world. I think it’s utterly absurd for anyone to conceive such unrealistic idea about Nigeria. There are several countries that surfer mismanagement and corruption but didn’t get that much publicity as Nigeria. In America a member of the house of representative from Ohio was a corrupt leader, guilty of bribery, false filing of return taxes, and forcing his aids to perform chores at his farm in Ohio and houseboats in Washington, D.C, but no one called the USA the most corrupt nation in the world. There is corruption and mismanagement of public fund in Indonesia; the embezzlement of $15-35 billion by the president. Most of the problems that Nigeria is facing today are caused by her colonial leader. They want to impose anything they like on Nigeria and when Nigeria couldn’t respond to it the way they want, they go about castigating the nation as being the most corrupt country in the world. It will do Nigeria better if the USA and British government stop imposing what so ever that works for them on Nigeria. To fellow Nigerians, be the change you seek in Nigeria. Effect that positive change you want in your area of jurisdiction and let’s move this great country forward because no one will do it for us if we don’t do it. You might have a citizen status in Canada, England, France, and Germany and so on but you will never be accorded equal right as the original occupants of the land due to the structural discrimination embedded in the system in terms of their policy and decision making. As soon as you forget your home land, you have lost your originality. I want promising young Nigerians who have the potentials to make a good leader tomorrow to refrain from any unpopular and demoralising act that might mar their hiding potentials that will contribute immensely to national growth and development when put in to work. I also urge all the current leaders to redefine their stand and take the right steps to make this country a paradise on earth. The leaders should look beyond personal interest but that of the masses that elects them into the offices they occupy today for the time has come for all Nigerians in every geographical location of the earth to come out and make their-own contribution in oneness to move this great country forward for the country’s image has surfed lots of damage. If you are a proudly Nigerian stand up and join this movement as we elevate our mother’s land.
