Who are u to forgive sin?
i wish to set things straight here.
in his own personal capacity as a human being, the Pope{the Holy Father}, and indeed all ordained Catholic priests, cannot forgive sins. but it is important to note that, in forgiving sins, Catholic priests are not acting in their own capacity. rather they are acting in the person of Christ{persona Christi} who has given them the power to forgive sins; "whatever sins you forgive, they are forgiven..." {cf Jn 20:22ff}. it follows therefore that whenever a priest forgives sins, it is Christ Jesus, God the Son, who is forgiving sin through the instrumentality of the priest.
