The Igbo market on Mohammed Ali Road, Mumbai, India, will be shut-down on March 2 in honour of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu. The Eze-Igbo Gburugburu, who died on November 26, 2011, would be interred on Friday.
President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, India chapter, Mr. Kingsley Chukwuma, who made this known in a statement, also called on all Igbo sons and daughters in India to continue mourning Ojukwu in black shirts till March 2. According to him, Igbo indigenes in their black attires on February 19, 2012 had a procession with olive branches and candlelights through some streets before gathering at the Igbo Hall, Cosmos Building at Khar Road, Mumbai, India, to mourn the Biafran warlord who meant so much to them. He said the occasion which was attended by over 500 Igbo indigenes, was to pay their last respect to the late Igbo leader, whom he insisted, would be difficult to replace.
Chukwuma said the late Ojukwu sacrifice a lot by fighting for freedom and justice and urged Igbo indigenes in the Diaspora to keep his legacy alive by sustaining the struggle against injustice and oppression in Nigeria.
He extended his condolence on behalf of Ohaneze Ndigbo, India chapter to the family of Ojukwu especially his widow, Bianca, who was billed to visit India upon her appointment as Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Diaspora before the death of her husband last year. The President of Nigeria community in Mumbai, India, Mr. Bless Agwuocha, described Ojukwu as the mirror of justice and requested every Igbo person to claim the greatness of Ojukwu in the course to achieve ethnic right in Nigeria by Ndigbo.

Long standing Nigerian actor and cast in the now rested soap opera New Masquerade, James Iroha aka Gringory Akabogu has died at 69.
The actor died on Tuesday, although the circumstances and place of his death are yet to be made available.
His son, Akwari James Iroha, in a post on Facebook confirmed his passing.
The post read “Sept 1942- Feb 2012. Not long ago, a man we have all come to love, a man that has made us laugh, a friend to all but will always be Dad to my little sister Ugonma, my brothers Chiemela, Uche, Kelechi and me passed on. “Chief James Udensi Akwari Iroha OON has passed on. May his cheerful soul rest in the Lord. Akwari James Iroha ( for the family).”
Gringory had played a prominent role in the New Masquerade which was immensely popular in the 1970s and 1980s and had become a house hold name.
Before his death, Gringory was reported to be suffering from an eye ailment and had cried repeatedly for help.
None came.

EXACTLY 430 days after he was flown out in coma to a London Hospital for intensive medication and 91 days after his demise, the remains of late elder statesman and defunct Biafra Republic Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was flown back to Nigeria, yesterday, to a rousing reception and ocean of tributes.
Given a full military funeral parade, President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Azubuike Ihejirika and Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, were among eminent Nigerians, who showered tributes on the revered Igbo leader, yesterday.
Economic activities came to a halt in Owerri, Imo State capital, which stood still as the corpse of Ikemba Nnewi arrived the state. Ojukwu was flown out of the country in a military ambulance on December 23, 2010. He battled for life for almost a year and died on November 26, 2011.
While Jonathan described Ojukwu as an advocate of a united Nigeria, Ihejirika said he was one of the architects of modern Nigerian Army and Aliyu said Ojukwu could have been made the Nigerian Head of State in 1966 after the second military coup, if intellect, qualification and finesse were the yardsticks.
Triumphantly, Ojukwu's corpse arrived aboard a British Airways plane at exactly 5.09am accompanied by members of his family, including his wife Mrs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and some of his children. It was taken to the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja where a colourful military parade, the type reserved for heads of state, was held in his honour.
The casket was draped in the Nigerian flag complete with a green army cap. The ceremony was nearly turned into a political event as politicians from across the political divide thronged the arena to pay their last respects.

General Chris Obiakor (rtd); and FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, the corpse was carried into Nigeria Airforce C-130 aircraft registered NAF 917 and flown to Owerri.
Other eminent Nigerians at the funeral parade were Senators Uche Chukwumerije, Chris Ngige and Andy Uba; Labour Minister, Chief Nwogu; Comptroller-General of Customs, Mrs. Uzoma; Prof. ABC Nwosu; Senator Authur Nzeribe; Chief Ojo Maduekwe; APGA Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh; Mrs. Josephine Anenih; Chief Ben Obi, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu and Bishop Hilary Okeke of Nnewi Diocese.

Nigeria, a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic society has three major ethnic groups; Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. These three ethnic groups characterize the three major regions of the country (North, East and West), thus defining the behaviours and outlooks of life of the people.
The diversities of these three languages has made it possible for each to have its own perceptions about the others thereby creating a mixture of perceptions that is very important in defining the picture and story of the Nigerian nationhood and the struggle of its people to understand their differences for better co-existence and respect for each other.
The Igbo people wherever they migrate usually organize their traditional assemblies of people from the same village, town or clan.
The assemblies "abroad" (away from the village, town or clan, or "home") meet at fixed time intervals in the cities where they are resident. They render mutual help to their members; promote development in their villages, towns and clans or communities of origin.
This is what led to the formation of Ndigbo Ternopil On the 4th of May 2008.On this day (4th May 2008) there were the first gathering of Igbo students at TERNOPIL STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY (TSMU).On the 12th September 2008, the second meeting was held at the 9th floor common room TSMU Hostel and from that day henceforth meetings are being held.
