This man Prof. Ishaq has being playing the role of a lap-dog when it comes to religious matters. Jan 1 is not a Christian holiday in case he doesn't know plus we all observe public holidays twice a year when Muslims celebrate eid fitri and eid kabir. Even in some Northern states they observe public holidays at the beginning of the Muslim calendar year and on Prophet Muhammad's birthday
Actually, it is a Christian holiday , just like Valentine's, however, these two holidays have become generalized to accommodate people of other religions And beliefs. The Gregorian calendar was introduced by pope Gregory xiii and used by the Church to calculate the date of Easter. I.e, to accurately count the year of birth and death Of Jesus Christ. Hence the use of the phrase Anno Domini (AD) and Before Christ (BC)
