D'Banj has finally moved on with better things after his reported split with his former boss, Don Jazzy some weeks ago.
According to the latest report, the Kokomaster has been signed by a top United Kingdom record label, Mercury Records.
He has already been listed on the label's official website as one of its artistes alongside top UK singer, Elton John.
Mercury Records is also a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, which Island Def Jam (IDJ) is also a subsidiary of, a label D'Banj claims to also belong to, going by his twitter profile: DB/Good Music/Mercury/IDJ.
Popular pastor and founder of the Living Faith Christian Church International, David Oyedepo, will face a legal action for slapping a young lady during church service, last year.
Robert Igbinedion, a Lagos based lawyer, confirmed to Premium Times Friday that he had filed a suit, on behalf of the young lady, at the Ogun State High Court for the enforcement of the lady's fundamental rights to freedom from inhuman and degrading treatment, human dignity, fair hearing, and freedom from discrimination. Mr. Igbinedion is seeking an award of N2bn as 'general and exemplary damages' against Mr. Oyedepo.
"If a wrong is done to the young lady, she is bound to receive justice for that wrong," said Mr. Igbinedion, a Solicitor at Salus Populi Chambers.
In the suit, Mr. Igbinedion said that the young lady, while answering an "illegal" alter call, was trying to explain herself when the pastor gave her "a dirty and thunderous slap." "The respondent (Mr. Oyedepo) made the alter call for witches to come out, he did not make a similar call for other categories of sinners like illicit drug dealers, contract inflators, fraudsters, adulterers, and fornicators in the church," read the suit. Mr. Igbinedion, who represented the victims of the celebrated Pastor Emeka Ezeugo (popularly known as Reverend King) at the Magistrate court, in 2006; stated that cases of violence in the place of worship if not nipped in the bud could escalate into 'uncountable' dimensions.
Furthermore, he said the calling out of the young lady (and others) as witches are illegal, unconstitutional, and a breach of Section 34 of the Constitution of Nigeria, African Charter on Human and People's Right, and United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Right.
The suit asked the court to compel Mr. Oyedepo to issue a self-signed public apology to be published in two national dailies and one international satellite television station.
It also wants the respondent to issue a similar alter call for drug dealers, corrupt government officials, bribe-giving contractors, and other category of sinners who are members of the church.
In December last year, a video of Mr. Oyedepo viciously slapping a teenage girl during church service for saying she is "a witch for Jesus" appeared on popular site You Tube.
Though later removed, the video went viral within days with the pastor, fondly called Papa, receiving a lot of stick from outraged viewers and members of the public.
One viewer described the act as "unbiblical, barbaric, and a disgrace."
Days later, another video surfaced in which Mr. Oyedepo tried to justify his action saying "it is my ministry to slap" and that the fact that the witch, rather than going to court, apologized showed his superiority.
"People now complain on the Internet that I slapped a witch. If I see another one, I'll slap," he said in the video.

A desperate and helpless father set ablaze his mentally challenged 24-year-old son in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Barely a week after the finger of Yinka Oyedele, a JSS3 student of Eric Moore Secondary School, Surulere, Lagos, was cut off by an SS1 student of Surulere High School, another victim has lost his finger to assailants. The victim, a trader at Ladipo Market, Mushin, Lagos, 37-year old Ofoka Nnaji was attacked by suspected thugs who were allegedly hired by a faction of the traders’ union at the market. The attack on Nnaji has rekindled the violent attack on traders by thugs at Aguiyi Ironsi International Trade Centre at Ladipo market Mushin, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria. The latest attack on Nnaji was by the same thugs that allegedly attacked the Chairman of Mushin Local Government area, Mr. Babatunde Adepitan, recently. Nnaji claimed that the men who attacked him inside the market used cutlasses to cut him on the head and other parts of his body before they cut off his finger and took it away. He is pleading that his cut off finger should be returned to him so that he will bury it. Nnaji said he went to the market with the hope that the Lagos State government had finally made peace with the warring factions after the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, was signed. Unknown to him, there was a group opposed to the peace initiative by the state government through the Ministry of the Environment. He said immediately he went into the market on Thursday, he was identified by thugs he claimed that were brought from Southeast. The victim said they accused him of opposing Chief Jonathan Okoli’s leadership and started beating him. He was macheted and his finger was cut off and taken away. Mushin Council boss, Adepitan had alleged that it was Okoli that brought those thugs who attacked them because he did not want peace in the market. He explained that the MOU was painstakingly made for peace to reign in the market and was accepted by the market stakeholders. He expressed shock that Okoli who was part of the peace deal pulled out and started fomenting trouble. Okoli has denied sending thugs to attack anybody. Recently, Adepitan and some Lagos State government officials comprising the Nigerian police and soldiers were attacked and chased away by a group opposed to peace in the market. Adepitan insisted that the MOU must stand and reiterated his commitment to bringing peace to the market. He said that Governor Babatunde Fashola, the State House of Assembly and all the security agents are aware of the matter and very soon the problem will be solved.
Barely two weeks after a young lady identified as Faith Akin was allegedly raped to death by a middle aged man, a similar incident has been reported at the Epe Police Station. According to the report, 29-year-old Titus Ime raped his in-law, a 19-year-old woman identified as Blessing John, to death. The incident occurred in a forest at Epe. The suspect allegedly trailed Blessing to her father’s farm, where he raped her to death. Ime, reporting the incident, said he assaulted Blessing due to her refusal to date him. The rapist cum murderer blamed his dastardly act on his “great love" for the deceased. “I just moved to Lagos from Akwa -Ibom State to look for a job when I met Blessing. She is my in-law, as my uncle is married to her elder sister," he said. "As soon as I set my eyes on her, I fell in love with her but I kept it to myself. When I could not bear it anymore, I went to her to declare my love for her but she turned me down. I kept pestering her but she refused blatantly that she did not love me; this made me angry.” Ime added that despite Blessing’s refusal to date him, he had to device a means to force her to have sex with him. “I did not intend to kill Blessing but my feeling for her was very strong. So after monitoring her movement for some time, I discovered that she goes to the farm to uproot cassava in the evening with her father. That day, I trailed her from her house to the forest. She was alone and she did not know I was following her, when she got into the dense forest and there was no one in sight, I ran ahead of her and grabbed her, and started declaring my love for her but she turned me down. "I was very angry and I grabbed her dress. She started struggling with me but I took a big stick and hit her on her head, she slumped immediately and I bend down over her and removed her skirt and had sex with her. All this while, she did not respond but I still had sex with her a second time but I do not know that she was dead; I thought she was just unconscious.” After committing the act, the suspect hid in the forest for four days. He however came out of his hiding when he could not bear the hunger any-more, and reported himself to his family who then handed him over to the police for prosecution. There was pandemonium in the Rumuola, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, at the weekend, when a disabled beggar allegedly caused the disappearance of the reproductive organs of four men. Eyewitnesses said trouble started at about 11am last Friday at the Rumuola Junction when a male passerby raised the alarm that his reproductive organ disappeared after he gave alms to a popular disabled beggar. The loud complaints from the victim immediately attracted sympathisers, who confronted the beggar on his wheelchair. Three others, one of them a trader, simply identified as Chigozie, also raised the alarm that their organs "vanished" immediately they joined the fray. The development provoked
more after the jump angry youths of the community, who attacked disabled beggars on the road and anyone who looked like a member of the ethnic group from which the beggar came. The suspect's wheelchair was burnt. The unrest was quelled by men of the Joint Task Force and police patrol teams, who dispersed the mob and rescued the suspect. He was taken to the Kala Police Division with the four victims. Policemen prevented relatives and spectators from entering the station, a development that further heightened the tension. The angry youths later stormed the neighbourhoods, searching for anyone thought to be from the beggar's ethnic group, beating them up. The suspect and victims were later moved to the Military Hospital on Aba Road for medical examination. Eze Egba, a relative of Chigozie's, confirmed the incident. He said he consulted a military doctor who facilitated the release of the victims and the suspect. It was gathered that the medical examinations revealed that the victims' claims were baseless, as their genitals were found to be intact. Not convinced of the medical confirmation at the military base, the victims were taken to a brothel for further confirmation. There it was "confirmed" that their genitals were indeed intact and functional. LAGOS — The British government yesterday warned that it would take retaliatory steps against Nigerian airlines, if the federal government bans carriers over fare disparity. This came as British Airways said in a statement last night that all its fares were competitive and on a sound commercial basis. Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Odua, had weekend threatened to ban any foreign airline which failed to adjust its fares to reflect equity with their prevailing fares on the West Coast. She gave the airlines one month ultimatum. Reacting to the ultimatum last night, Britain said banning private airlines would amount to a “heavy-handed action that would be catastrophic.” Consequently, Britain said it would not hesitate to retaliate if the federal government goes ahead with the threat to ban after 30 days.
Britain said only business and first class fares were more expensive to Nigerians than neighbouring countries because of high demand for those seats.
It also said banning BA and Virgin would break a bilateral air services agreement. between both countries. “It (the ban) would cause potential foreign investors to question whether they want to put their money in Nigeria and have a long-term and damaging effect on Nigeria’s growth,” a British High Commission spokesman said. “The Prime Minister and President Goodluck Jonathan signed a joint communique last year pledging to double bilateral trade. Action against BA and Virgin would damage that strategic aim,”a British High Commission spokesman. The fare dispute is running parallel to another row between Nigeria and Britain over airport landing slots. Nigeria’s biggest carrier Arik Air actually stopped its daily flights between Abuja and London Heathrow yesterday because it was being prevented from getting arrival and departure slots at UK airports. “It is wrong to suggest that Arik has been prevented from flying into Heathrow. Our understanding is that Arik is just unwilling to pay for the cost of renting or buying landing slots,” the British spokesman said. He added that it was something all airlines who want new slots into Heathrow needed to do. The Aviation Minister had argued that it was unfair for BA and Virgin to charge more to fly Nigerian than passengers from neighbouring West African countries. “We are seriously concerned and worried by the reluctance to restore parity within the region by the foreign airlines,” Aviation Minister Stella Oduah said in a statement.
“They have been using all kinds of delay tactics, this is unacceptable and will no longer be tolerated. We will resolve this issue once and for all,” she had said in a statement Monday night.
Also reacting to the threat, British Airways said in a statement that its fares were competitive and were based on a sound commercial plank.

Aviation Consultant, Mr Chris Aligbe, noted that the minister, as the number one stakeholder in the aviation industry, was now speaking the minds of Nigeria-based passengers who were usually extorted whenever they flew in foreign airlines. “With the ultimatum given by the minister, the Federal Government is taking the issue of disparity in fares paid by passengers from Nigeria seriously.
“The Federal Government is now showing concern about the plight of Nigerians and others who opt to fly with foreign airlines,” Aligbe said. He alleged that his findings had revealed that all the European airlines flying into and out of Nigeria were involved in the international flight fare disparity. Aligbe advised that Nigerians should exercise patience until the expiration of the minister’s ultimatum. Mr Kelvin Umoh, a UK-bound passenger, lamented the high air fares usually charged by foreign airlines, describing them as cut-throat. “One continues to wonder why the foreign airlines charge higher fares from Nigeria, compared to what they charge in Ghana,” he said. “What is the distance between Nigeria and Ghana, that foreign airlines are charging between $1,000 and $2, 000 from Nigerian passengers, above what they charge in Ghana,” he queried. Looks like Kim Kardashian might be involved in a legal issue other than her divorce in the near future. Apparently the reality star is going to press charges against the woman who "flour-bombed" her at an event Thursday.
TMZ, who usually gets things like this right, reports that even though Kardashian only needed to make a trip to the cleaners following the incident, she feels the woman responsible should have to face the consequences of her actions. The outlet's sources also suggests the reality star wants to make it clear that people are entitled to their opinion (the woman called Kardashian a "fur hag" before coating her in flour), but violence isn't the answer.
After TMZ's report, Kardashian released a statement to E!: "I said earlier no I wasn't. [But] I am just going to think about it, because I don't want someone to think they can really get away with that."
She reportedly didn't want to have to leave the event, since it was for charity, so held off on getting police involved at the time of the dusting. Nigeria’s richest pastor and self-styled bishop, David Oyedepo, has made a glistening addition to his business empire by floating an airline called Dominion Air. Oyedepo, who a few years ago ignited debate on flamboyant Christianity by acquiring his fourth private jet, is the owner of Dominion Publishing House, Covenant University and an elite secondary school called Faith Academy. Listed by Forbes as Nigeria’s wealthiest pastor with a net worth of $150 million, David Oyedepo is a preacher and founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, more popularly known as Winners’ Chapel. Besides his four private jets, Forbes also mentioned the preacher’s luxury homes in London and the United States. Sources within the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the agency charged with business registration in Nigeria, confirmed the registration of Dominion Air with David Oyedepo as its chairman. Another source within a Lagos-based insurance firm known to handle most of Oyedepo’s businesses said the airline project had been in the works for six years and was only made a reality this year. About 90 per cent of public schools in this country were built by early Christian missionaries; today Oyedepo has Covenant University but it is for children of millionaires,” says Mr Ofili. “Even with the high school called Faith Academy, I am aware that most children in his congregation dream to be educated there but their parents who probably pay tithes and offerings cannot afford the school fees. His Faith Tabernacle accommodates 50,000 worshippers every Sunday; how many of them are going to fly Dominion Air? Honestly this project is not for the poor. He should have settled for mechanised farming to engage unemployed men and women.”
