I just saw this picture on my facebook page of a young man wearing a boko haram customised T-shirt.
This picture does not look photoshoped and it wasn’t in a covered compound. Does this mean these people are well known in their community and are even publicly flaunting their membership.
Look at the guy’s eyes, he looks like someone perpetually high, not an image of what a devoted or just plain regular muslims look like.
22  Forum / The Buzz Central / South African music star goes back to school on: 22-06-2012 01:14 PM
On Saturday nights, 60-year-old Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse is on stage, thrilling South African audiences with hits from his more than four decades in music.

But on week nights, the massively popular music maker is in a classroom near his Soweto home, working to earn the high school degree he abandoned in 1969 as his music career took off.

In a country where the public education system is struggling and half of all students don’t always have a desk, Mabuse eschewed Johannesburg’s posh private schools or a personal tutor.

Instead, he signed up for the government’s adult education classes, a move school officials heralded as a welcome endorsement of the beleaguered public system.

“When I started becoming a musician, I was at a very impressionable age. Young, 15, 16,” he said.

“Suddenly you make all this money, and you get invited to all the (graduation) dances and all the beautiful girls, you’re attracted by all those things, and you forget that you’re still a scholar. So I dropped out of high school.”

His early talent for drums earned him the nickname Hotstix and his career took him across the world, performing with the likes of Percy Sledge and Paul Simon, who recorded parts of his landmark “Graceland” album in South Africa.

Mabuse won his own popular success with songs pulling elements from township music with jazz, funk and disco.

Even in South Africa’s state of emergency, during one of apartheid’s most brutal periods, his 1985 single “Burn Out” leapt from the townships to mainstream success, selling over 500,000 copies.

He remains a fixture in South African music with regular performances and a seat on the National Arts Council.

But last year, he decided something was missing.

“When I started growing up, really growing up as a responsible professional, I realised there was something that I had not completed, and that was my matric,” he said, referring to his high school education.

– Front-row student –

In his first year, he took six classes and passed four — a heavy course load even for full-time students. This year, he’s taking geography and history, the last two required to matriculate, plus business economics just for fun.

He sits in the front row of a classroom where many of the students are much more recent drop-outs. Dressed in a sharp grey suit, he jokes with girls about their boyfriends and shows off the cover art for his upcoming album “Class Act”.

When class starts, he’s the one with questions and wondering about exams.

“The Great Trek. Do you think that will be the kind of history we will do? When I was in school, that was the history that we did. Do we still do that?” he asked.

The migration of white Afrikaners into the country’s interior doesn’t figure as prominently as it did when Mabuse first was in school.

Blacks then were subjected to so-called Bantu education, meant to “train and fit” them for a subservient role under the white-minority regime.

Seven years after Mabuse dropped out, the apartheid government forced high school students to learn in Afrikaans, a move that sparked the 1976 Soweto uprising and led many black students to boycott schools.

Under the democratic government, education is the single biggest budget expense, but the results are disappointing.

In northern Limpopo province, some schools began receiving text books six months into the academic year, and only after a court order forced the government to act.

Nationally, enrolment has been slipping. About 70 percent of seniors passed their exams last year, a feat that requires only a 30 percent mark in some subjects.

A survey last year found that one out of two students doesn’t always have a desk; 15 percent of schools have no electricity; 10 percent have no running water.

At Thaba-Jabula Secondary School, Mabuse’s attendance has become seen as a national endorsement that public schools can still offer a good education.

Teachers say enrolment is up, and students appear more attentive, inspired by their celebrity classmate.

“We all want the same thing. All of us want knowledge,” Mabuse said of his fellow students.

“For them to see a 60-year-old man coming to class and sitting down in class is in itself encouraging. It says to people, well, if he can do it at that age, well, why shouldn’t we, you know much younger people, go back and study.”

Three men of Liombe Village in Senior Chief Chipepo’s area in Kapiri Mposhi district in Zambia are alleged to have had canal knowledge of a chicken.

The three named men, aged 80, 66 and 35 years, are believed to have taken turns in having canal knowledge of a hen which later died yesterday.

Liombe Village Senior headwoman, Loveness Chimbuleni, confirmed the incident to ZANIS today, saying the three have since been reported to police.

However, ZANIS’ efforts to get a comment from police failed by press time.

Headwoman Chimbuleni said the three were discovered with the dead chicken in the room where they are alleged to have had canal knowledge of it.

She said the dead chicken was discovered with its canal cavity widely ruptured with some suspected male semen oozing out of it.

“Three old men have r*p*d a chicken here in my village. The chicken has since died.

We have reported them to police for them to be arrested because they are a disgrace in the eyes of God and a shame to humanity,” Headwoman Chimbuleni said.

The traditional leader also stated that cases of bestiality and having s*x against the order of nature were rampant in Chief Chipeppo’s area. Headwoman Chimbuleni attributed the increase in the number of cases of bestiality and s*x against the order of nature to widespread witchcraft.“It is not the first time that such cases have occurred. We have several of them and it is just that we do not know why these cases are so high”.

Meanwhile, headwoman Chimbuleni has appealed to government to reopen the police post in the area to help fight crime and bring perpetrators of criminal activities to book. She said the community in the area is committed to offering support in terms of providing accommodation to police officers who will be deployed to the area.

In 2008 the police withdrew operations from the area because of lack of decent accommodation for officers who were deployed there.

She said criminal minded people were taking advantage of the absence of the police post to perpetrate crimes.

Shortly after the alleged physical assault, the up and coming actress was said to have uncontrollably burst in tears.

Both the movie producer and director; Chris Chuks and Don Single respectively, reportedly looked the other side without asking question why the veteran actress physically assaulted the young lady.

Is Chinwe Owoh another Bishop David Oyedepo? Bishop Oyedepo was reported to have slapped a church member. He is presently facing a lawsuit for the act.

Wonders, they say, shall never ceased. Despite the all the effort of the Federal Government to redeemed the badly smashed image of Nigerians across the sea, a 26-year-old Nigerian man, Nathaniel Udama Edu, is being held by the Mile 7 Police at Achimota in Accra, for the suspected murder of his girlfriend, Matilda Asante, 19, a senior high school graduate at South Afankor in the early hours of Monday.

The body of the deceased was found in the neighbourhood, wrapped in a bed sheet and her legs tied, while her head was covered in a black polythene bag.

Narrating the incident in Accra, the Crime Officer of the Mile 7 Police Station, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Henry Agbeve, said around 7:30am last Monday the body of the deceased was found on the compound of an adjoining house in the Ga West municipality, lying in a supine position.

According to him preliminary investigations conducted indicated that the body was thrown into that house after the act with the legs tied, the head covered with a polythene bag and the rest of her body wrapped in a bedsheets.

He added that a further police inspection of the body also revealed that her neck was twisted in the process.

ASP Agbeve said what traced the suspect to the murder was the fact that the make and colour of the bedsheets in which the deceased was wrapped, was the same as the pillow cover of the unemployed suspect after it was learnt that the deceased had spent the previous night with her boyfriend, the suspect.
28  Forum / The Buzz Central / Omotola's Hubby, Capt. Ekeinde: A Lesson For Ini Edo's Hubby, Philip on: 22-06-2012 11:04 AM
It has been a very long time I have done this; giving my personal opinion on any issue at hand. My last was with Linda Ikeji and Toke face-off.

Few weeks ago, I wrote a story on Ini Edo being in a club but spotted leaving with a man. Her hubby, Philip Ehiagwina reacted to the story claiming it was untrue, which I published.

Of course, Ini is 'our' wife as my Ishan tradition says; her hubby and I are from the same tribe.

On March 23, 2012, sexy actress, wife and mother of four, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde celebrated 16 years of marriage to her handsome husband, Captain Mathew Ekeinde.

For many, that was phenomena due to the fact that most Nollywood marriages don't last that long before hitting the rock. Little wonder OK magazine celebrated the couple alongside President Obama of America, Jay Z and others in their first Nigerian version of the American magazine in 2012.

Some have said that Capt. Mathew should take the glory of keeping the marriage but it only takes two to tangle. The hands become clean when the two wash each other. A tree doesn't make a forest.

Within 16 years of Omotola's marriage, many scandals have been written about her but not a time has Capt. Mathew come out to say a word about them.

To some journalists, it is rather getting too much of Mr Philip Ehiagwina, the husband of Ini Edo reacting always to 'unpleasant' stories written about his wife.

Few years ago, he reportedly warned Nigerian journalists not to write any negative stories about his wife, Ini Edo. Doing that, according to what was reported, he would deal with such journalist.

But questions that come to mind(s) are, if he can't handle a celebrity-wife, why not marry a 'normal' woman? If he were President Jonathan, would he have arrested all journalists that have written negative stories about his wife, Patience?

Why not take lessons from Capt. Mathew Ekeinde on how to manage a celebrity-wife? Or better still, learn not to react to negative stories about his sweet wife, Ini Edo as Capt. Mathew has done in the case of Omotola?

Don't get me wrong here, I do not mean journalists should write untrue stories about people but when such are done, the law courts are there to handle such matters.

Remember the popular song by MI ft. 2Face. I rest my case. Over to you our forumites.
29  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Man To Death For Stealing N1,705 on: 22-06-2012 10:49 AM
This is actually not one of the home video synopsis but true story of a young man who is being sentenced to death by hanging.

Obviously, the presiding judge is not aBosom  of the goings in the country to have passed such a judgement over a mere N1,705. Starting from the top, former gov. Of Bayelsa, Alamiseigha onced accused of stealing state noney running into several millions of dollars, he dudnt spend more than a week in prison. Also was a case or Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankole etc who have stolen public money massively, they are walking as free men.

A Jos High Court on Thursday, 21 June 2012, sentenced Obinah John, 26-year-old man to death by hanging for stealing the sum of One Thousand, Seven Hundred and Five Naira ( N1,705) cash from one Dorothy Olaniyi.

We gathered that Obinah, now on death row, was also accused of stealing two rolls of peak milk sachets, valued at N400 from the same Dorothy.

The prosecution counsel, Mr G.D. Fiwonyon, who is the deputy director, Public Prosecution in Plateau State had told the court that Obinah, in company with an accomplice identified as John, now at large, robbed the Dorothy on November 18, 2005 in her shop at Gada Biu, Jos, at gunpoint.

The Public Prosecutor told the judge point-blank that since Obinah used a gun to rob Olaniyi, he had committed a criminal offence punishable with death by hanging.

www.nigeriafilms.com gathered that Obinah's counsel, Mr. Tobechukwu Kekemeke tried all he could to convince the judge otherwise, but his pleas fell on deaf ears. He was said to have accused the police of “not telling the truth about the gun” said to have been used by Obinah.

Mr. Kekemeke pointed out that the police presented three statements, with only the last indicating a confession by the accused that he used a gun against the victim. He further argued that the prosecution had failed to prove to the court that the accused actually used a gun to commit the act.

But in a 60-page judgment, Justice Yargata Nimpa said the evidence before her showed that the accused, Obinah, committed the offence and thus sentenced him to death by hanging.
30  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / My Story: For Colored Girls Who’ve Considered Suicide When the Law Couldn’t Prot on: 22-06-2012 10:47 AM
Before the barrage of Tyler Perry movies that uncovered family secrets and before the Oscar nods for Monique’s depiction in “Precious” of the horrors of child abuse, I was 5. He was strong. There were no camera crews to capture my anguish, no protests in honor of my tears, and no advocates to collect my screams. I’d begin to learn that the law does little to protect you if your molester is in your immediate family.

Incest is not punishable in the state of New Jersey if both the perpetrator and the victim are over the age of 18. In fact, it’s perfectly legal. The law which fiercely penalizes rape and segxwal assault coughs and turns its head when the perpetrator lives under your roof. The problem with New Jersey’s law is that many children are too scared and/or confused to prosecute or testify against someone so close. It’s a hurdle most us are terrified of attempting so we wait. We wait normally until adulthood when we can finally formulate the words to confront our captors and by then it’s too late to seek retribution because in New Jersey (and several other states) it’s legal. Some would say there are laws against molestation and abuse but proving them is difficult. In an article by Janice Friedman she sums up how I felt, “Imagine, if you aren’t marked up or if you’ve been drugged, you won’t be a victim, you’ll be an accuser.”

So I lived with him day after day caught in a suburban prison. I cooked breakfast every morning− scrambled eggs, fried potatoes with onions and cheddar cheese and poured him orange juice in an burgundy mug that ironically had a scripture about forgiveness on the front. If the butter happened to turn brown in the pan and tint his sunny scrambled eggs I could be sure that it would warrant punishment. Yet, the love of a child is unconditional and I grew to love him and justify his sordid ways as a coping mechanism. A child’s mind will justify heinous things the best way it knows how because a child cannot fathom that a person so close to them would ever intentionally hurt them. So sex is justified by statements like “he loves me the way he loves Mommy.” However, as I grew older the love I once felt turned into resentment and resentment turned to hate.

What price can be put on a stolen childhood? When people ask me why I look so young, I respond that I’d like to think God gave me the gift of youth because my childhood was taken from me. I never prosecuted the man who hurt me. I was 24 when I came forward and he was forced to confess. Some people ask “why did you wait so long?” “Why are you airing the dirty laundry now?” Fear crippled me. I knew a secret like that would tear our family apart. I knew it would make things difficult. There would be pain. There would be tears. So, I waited. Even now that he is no longer a part of my life; learning to forgive has been a difficult road for me. However, my pastor said that as long as I chose to hold onto anger, his power over me would remain just as strong as it was all of those years ago. I. Forgive. Him.

All of us carry pieces of our past into our future. Some of us are blessed enough to recover from tragic moments in our lives. However, there are those who cannot drown out the nightmares called memories. This…what I’m writing… is for them. It was in realizing that I am not a ‘victim’ but a survivor that I was able to overcome the past and forgive. Some of us have survived trauma that others would commit suicide over. This is the harsh reality of the disparity in our penal system. America obsesses over the trivial details of their lives and somewhere a little girl decides between cooking “him” breakfast and kingdom come.

33  Forum / Relationships & Romance / Big Brother Africa – Romances, Marriages And Babies Entertainment on: 22-06-2012 10:36 AM
Popular M-Net reality show, Big Brother Africa, has not only shot housemates to fame and stardom, but has seen them establish lifetime relationships.

In fact, from the last four editions of the game, a series of romance stories have been written and a total of three babies born from housemate love affairs.

2009 Big Brother Revolution winner, Nigeria’s Kevin Chuwang and his Tanzanian wife Elizabeth – who was also a BBA housemate, welcomed their first born a few months ago. The little girl was christened Savannah.  The couple hit it off while in the house and Kevin proposed after the show in 2010 and the couple eventually tied the knot on February 26, 2011 in a colourful wedding ceremony held in Abuja.

Those that had cast doubts over Meryl of Namibia and Tanzania’s Mwisho Mwampamba’s fling were left with egg on their faces. The two met during Big Brother All Stars in 2010, fell in love and got engaged in the house, becoming the very first Big Brother Africa couple to do that ever. Four months ago, the couple welcomed their Big Brother baby. Botswana’s two-time representative, Kaone Ramontshonyana, who witnessed the engagement, is thrilled about the developments.

“I was thinking about that the other day,” Kaone told Showbiz. “I think it’s nice – it goes to show that people can meet and get married.  It’s not just a game at the end of the day; there are real things that can come out of it,” he said. He believes the fact that two marriages have come out of it, is testimony that the show is more than just a game.

The Botswana star is particularly fascinated about South Africa’s Quinn Sieber and Mozambique’s Jennifer Mussanhaneare’s union. The couple recently welcomed their first baby. They were in BBA 4 in 2010.”I can’t remember if it’s a boy or girl, but it’s really exciting,” he added.

Philbert Okure, who represented Uganda in the fourth season, also is reportedly expecting a baby with Liziwe Coka, the South African housemate he fell in love with on the show. This year’s Big Brother Stargame may produce another couple after all.

If Luke‘s (Liberia) remarks are anything to go by, then he and Namibia’s Jessica could be an item after this year’s show. After being evicted last month, Luke disclosed his intentions to settle with Jessica after the show.  “I bonded well with Jessica and I’m planning to settle down with her after the show,” he said.  But, Big Brother has also had his failed relationships.

Botswana’s Tawana Lebani got intimate with Zimbabwe’s Munya Chidzonga in the Big Brother Amplified house. The relationship never lasted and Munya went on to marry his longtime sweetheart, Adiona Maboreke.

The Federal Government, yesterday, June 21 2012, suspended the operations of Air Nigeria, over allegations that the airline is in financial distress.

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) carried out the suspension, after investigations showed that the carrier was in financial crisis and the Chairman of the airline, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim involved in some fraudulent activities.

The development came even as the airline management, through its spokesman, Sam Ogbo-goro, confirmed the suspension of the airline and apologised for all the inconvenience that the order would bring on passengers, while promising that the airline would liaise with relevant agencies to ensure the suspension order was lifted soon.

The Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), on Tuesday, quizzed the Managing Director of the airline, Mr Kinfe Kahs-saye, for allegedly failing to pay company taxes amounting to N4.7 billion.

Lies, Conspiracy & Church Hijack by Pastors Kay, Kemi & Kehinde
in Christ Embassy, Calgary Canada “EXPOSED”
(Why they brought fight to church).

Why should a Pastor do all the work and payment becomes a mystery? The bible instructs pastors should be paid in “1 Corinthians 9:14” & “1 Timothy 5:17-18”. And we all gladly pay the electrician or accountant that provides service in our homes or church. Why should a man be requested to leave his successful business to move to another province, start churches, make a success of the churches and hope to be complimented or thanked, but instead was aggressively removed because he suggested to be paid after many years of service at his own expense.

One of those things you hear happen in Africa but never thought it could creep into Canada. How the senior hierarchy of Christ Embassy aka Believers Loveworld of Pastor Chris decided to get rid of a fellow Pastor with every possible means. While many were busy genuinely doing God’s work; a team led by Pastor Kay Adesina and Pastor Kehinde Ogbebor connived with some fellow members to make the life of Pastor Paul a nightmare.

As a result the fight, Pastor Paul who had served the Christ Embassy Canada church with distinction for over 10 years was hospitalized in Calgary Alberta on more than one occasion because of this unending conflict. The Pastor Kehinde Ogbebor was also in disagreement with Pastor Paul over how he requested a refund of the money loaned to him.

Our source said none of these Pastors have ever being to the city of Calgary or Edmonton before but it was Pastor Paul who travelled 4 days from Toronto and created a Christ embassy church in Calgary and a year later he pioneered another Christ Embassy Church in Edmonton Alberta, which is 3 hours from Calgary.

They couldn’t find rest with their opinion that Calgary and Edmonton both oil cities was not befitting to Pastor Paul who in their opinion didn’t have a God father and couldn’t give large sums of money to them anymore. But Pastor Paul explained that it was because he left his business in Toronto to spread the ministry that made him less financially strong enough to do what he was able to do in the past. And the finances of these new churches have advanced the ministry projects and programs.

According to Pastor Paul, the arrangement has left him worse off, turned him from a landlord and home owner into a tenant; and every effort to talk to the leadership of the ministry has not yielded any result. Especially when Pastor Paul suggested they should pay him a salary. Instead they decided to redefine who a Pastor is and tried to change him in a mafia gangster style. It’s like what you will see in a movie (threats, ambush, conspiracy and much more). When a businessman competing for a deal, conspires with a few people to discredit or kill an innocent man. No wonder many honest people are leaving the church to rather stay at home.

What could have made all these pastors to travel with “bodyguards” from Toronto on February 19, 2012 and April 22, 2012 to fight in Calgary, Alberta? Thank God the Nigerians in Calgary Alberta are not only known for truth but some also displayed their disappointment during this conflict.

Pastor Paul, was a Christ Embassy church Pastor in Toronto before moving to Calgary. We also learnt he was well known as a Realtor in the Toronto area before he moved to Calgary. It still baffles many to know that none of these pastors were paid, but instead the subject is not welcomed and most of the pastors struggle with the issue in fear.

The question now is if he is qualified to relocate to Calgary why should he struggle to discuss the basic necessities of life with those benefiting from the results. “You are the best man for the job” “See yourself having a big church” these and much more they said before the salary topic was introduced by Pastor Paul. A topic they have never discussed or mentioned to any of the other pastors with the exception of the top 1% of the pastors in the ministry.

Just a few days after the church hijack, Pastor Chris announced via online TV to all the churches that he is shuffling most of the pastors in Canada. But this only shows that he most likely ordered the church hijack in the first place because of the timing of this announcement and other things that shouldn’t have happened. Thank God Pastor Paul has made a police report and his calling on fellow believers to join him in prayers.

The young journalist’s eyes were wide opened when he exchanged marital vows with visually impaired Margaret Ekanem Uko last May 19, at a court registry, along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt.

Former Miss Uko met her darling lover in 2009 in the course of her industrial training with Rhythm 93.7, Port Harcourt. Since they met and fell in love, it has been such a bloom moment together.

Akwa Ibom State-born Margaret glows with smiles and aura of joy around her and would tell anyone who cares to listen that walking down the aisle with her long term friend and colleague, Emeka Idika remains her happiest moment so far.

The blind but brilliant journalist attended Federal Government College, Abuloma, Port Harcourt, but dropped out when she was found to be blind. Thus, she was referred to Afaraukwu School of the Blind to learn skills. Few years later, she became a braillist and teaches other students too with a vast knowledge of computer.

With her unique communication skill and flair for writing she got her Ordinary National Diploma (OND) before proceeding to Port Harcourt, to do her industrial training, at Rhythm 93.7 FM. It was during her Industrial Training that she met and fell in love with her colleague, Mr. Emeka Idika Kalu.

Lest you have any doubt, about their made-in-heaven marriage, Emeka’s nice words about his wife is enough to convince anyone that he has no regret signing the dotted lines with a physically challenged woman.

According to him, “I met Margret in 2009 when she came to do her IT with Rhythm FM Port-Harcourt where I also work as a journalist. My first attraction to her was her intelligence. Later we became close friends and virtually do everything together. Our friendship blossomed into love and we couldn’t ignore what we both felt in our hearts.”

“I was sure that I have the qualities I wanted in my wife in her, thus I don’t see any stumbling block in my decision to settle for her as my better half. Moreover, my wife is very sensitive, intelligent, ready to learn, humble, takes care of the house and despite her condition, she makes the most delicious food you could ever think of,” he avowed.

The happy husband, Emeka, also chipped in a word of advice to other young men who find it hard to see ability in disabilities.

“It’s so sad that our young men and women of these days hardly look deep before settling for a life partner. They should try and see beyond the physical appearance. I urge them to go for true love and not illusion, because true love never dies and it goes beyond the matters of the physical,” he counselled.

The rare occasion was well graced by journalists, family, friends and well wishers.

Hon. Farouk Lawan made a dramatic reappearance on the floor of the House of Representatives on Thursday, the first since the $3m bribery scandal involving him broke out.

The embattled lawmaker strolled into a session of the House presided over by the Speaker, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, around 12.55pm. He exuded confidence as if nothing had happened in the past days.

observed, however, that Farouk did not bow to the mace, placed right in front of Tambuwal, which by the convention every member does.

Speaking the journalist out the chambers, Farouk said his bribery case is a trial from God and he is sure that he will emerge victorious at the end:

“First of all, I think it is important to note that I have been a member of the House of Representatives in the last 13 years, of course with several of some of my colleagues (past and present).

“We have done so much to build the House as an institution that should enjoy the respect and confidence of Nigerians and whatever the decision taken by the House, I believe it is meant to ensure the credibility of the institution.

“Because, as members, we must at all times recognise that the institution is bigger than each and every one of us.

“It is an institution that belongs to this country, it is an institution which Nigerians rely for good legislation, for oversight responsibilities, for representation and it is an institution that must continue to give hope and confidence to the Nigerian people.”

“As far as the issue relating to me is concerned, I believe ultimately I will be vindicated; I just urge Nigerians to continue to be patient," Farouk said.

Her  recent statement insinuating that most Nollywood actresses sleep around like dogs with politicians and business men in exchange for monetary gifts and favors. "Virtually all Nollywood actresses sleep around like dogs at will and no one sees anything wrong with it. These same people will be claiming to be happily married and feign love to their husbands".
This veteran actress probably thought of the backlash when she said during the interview that ,"I have never been caught by any of my ex-husbands sleeping around. In fact, i am a one-man, one-woman person".

The Central Working Committee for The Future Awards has announced three special-vehicle sector Town Hall Meetings in the month of June – in the build up to August 26, Nigeria’s biggest youth event, The Future Awards 2012.
The Town Hall meetings will be hosted by popular culture event Taruwa; Conversations for Change, which is an organisation for young professionals committed to nation building, the British Council’s Creative Enterprise Series and Lagos’s Co-Creation Hub, which has become a model for involvement and convergence with technology.
“This is yet another innovation from Nigeria’s most respected youth platform,” said Ohimai Atafo, who is chair of the CWC. “The idea is to have town hall meetings targeted at the broad sectors that the awards is interested in. You will remember that this year’s categories were segmented into Innovation, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Entertainment, and Excellence in Public Service, and these town halls are focused on these.”
