More than 6, 000 Nigerian Citizens jailed Abroad for drug trafficking Offenses' - NDLEA

Not more than 6,000 Nigerians are serving various jail terms for drug-related offences abroad, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said. According to the NDLEA, Nigeria is the only African country with such a frightening figure.

The agency said that the figure may be higher as the available data could not be said to be totally exhaustive. NDLEA Director General, Mr. Femi Ajayi, told the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Matters that Iran has 4,000 inmates, Brazil 500, Thailand 500 and Malaysia 300.

He said: "The bulk of those caught for drug-related offences outside the country were from the South-East with majority coming from Anambra State. "I do not know what we can do to the upsurge of our brothers from the South East-who indulges in this kind of business.

Can you believe that of the 500 Nigerians in Thailand prisons, 480 of them are from the South-East and 450 from the figure are from Anambra State".

Ajayi, however, decried lack of adequate funding of the agency's activities, adding that the development has had negative impact on its ability to fight drug trafficking

My Younger brother fathered my children’
Published on July 11, 2012 by pmnews   ·   No Comments
A 52-year-old man, Oladokun Bello has told an Akure Customary Court in Ondo state in Western Nigeria, that he was not the father of the three children his wife had for him. He said his three children were fathered by his younger brother.

Bello was testifying at the resumed hearing of the petition filed by his wife, Modupe Bello, praying the court to put an end to the 14-year marriage.

The marriage has produced three children; Margaret Bello aged 13, Marcus Bello, 8 and Martins Bello, 6.

Bello, a school teacher, told the court that his wife was having affairs with his younger brother, Taiwo Bello, whom he said rented an accommodation for her when she moved out of the house he rented.

He alleged that there was a time his younger brother told him that even if he was having affairs with his wife, there was nothing he could do about it.

He said that the illicit affairs his wife had with his brother had caused a rift between him and his younger brother.

Bello alleged that apart from his brother, his wife had other lovers, adding that there was an instance he caught her receiving calls from a boy friend.

Modupe Bello had sued her husband for constant beating, unfriendliness, lack of love, threat to life and quarrelsome attitude.

She also accused her husband of not paying any bride price on her and had no regards for her parents and family.

Modupe told the court that her husband had locked all her belongings inside the room he rented for her, denying her access to them.

All efforts by the court to resolve the issue amicably between the two of them were abortive as the wife insisted that she has nothing to with him again.

The husband also told the court that he was ready to part ways with his wife as he was tired of her infidelity.

Modupe had also told the court that her husband was fond of saying that the three children she had for him had no place in his house and nothing to get from him.

In his ruling, the court’s president, Chief Julius Fabinu, implored the two parties to go back home and settle the matter between themselves and that the husband should stop battering his wife.

He later adjourned the hearing to 7 August.

I used my three children for blood money’

RESIDENTS of Asaba and Oko towns in Oshimilli South Local Government Area of Delta State were stunned last weekend when a popular akara (bean cake) seller in Oko revealed that the cause of her thriving business was the death of her three children.

Felicia (surname withheld) reportedly confessed to the horrendous act last Friday at a programme organized by a miracle-performing Prophet Kings Maidoh of the Divine Mandate Ministry in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The businesswoman, who is also a widow, disclosed how a surreptitious plan to grow her business through juju “boomeranged” and purportedly led to the death of her three children on the same day.

Ironically, the death of the children coincided with an

astronomical boom of her business.

Eyewitness account of the drama said the sordid details of Felicia's booming business came to light when Prophet Maidoh suddenly halted the service and called a widow who sells akara.

He told the thousands of worshippers that the widow visited a herbalist, who gave her a charm that suddenly gave her business the push that made the woman, who lost her husband around 2006, one of the richest akara sellers in Nigeria.

Apparently overwhelmed by the unmistakable allusion, Felicia mounted the podium and told her heart-wrenching story.

She was quoted as saying: “I started selling akara at various motor parks in Onitsha and Asaba, and I was taken to a native doctor, who prepared a charm for me to boost my business

and increase my fortune.

While her business started booming, she confessed that her children - two boys and a girl - died on the same day.

Felicia said she did not

know that the charm given to her was prepared with the blood of her children and the promise she made was responsible for their death.

Olafolarin Tunde
I believe the story and the Police Chief's opinion.
Its even more mind-boggling in Germany,Spain,Holland and Austria.
In Landstrasse Prison in vIENNA,there are 893 nigerian inmates and the whole prison can only take 950 people.I hope i'm not be tribalist if i tell you that all the 9ja inmates in this particular prison were convicted of the same crime(drugs, drugsrelated crime)and they are all IBOS.

Germany with its high % of police officers faces the same invasion by Nigerian drug criminals too.

So If anybody carrying naija passport is harassed in any airport in the world,we shouldnt be annoyed.

Hey spammer,

Akpan John

What as Nigerians turn themselves into all because of $$$$$? Mostly everywhere i went to, they always take things harder if i can't identify myself fully with my passport, thanks to God that am staying legally. They are always found around each street fighting and stabbing themselves due to one thing or the other. Most of them come to South Africa with 3months visa and when they see it's about to expire, they will look for a South Africa girl to deceive with money and ask her to lie that they are married, if she agrees, they will go to the home affairs to apply for extension of stay and once they got it, they will fight the girl and send her off. You won't believe that this crazy Igbo boys here in South Africa are into drugs and prostitution. They ask South African girls out and those fool will accept hoping they want them as girl friend or wife, and after a while they introduce them into this silly business of drug and prostitution. I actually met a white girl a while ago, she was scared of talking to me because the so call Nigeria boss of her will be mad at her if she is talking to a guy when she was suppose to be making money. They find it hard to get out of it even though they are willingly to, only God knows where they get those charms from.

Most of this guys are Igbo boys, they have spoilt the reputation of Nigerians here, i think that was the reason why South Africans where killing Nigerians back then. They were turning their girls to LovePeddler and using them for drugs and other illegal business.

What have you people have to say about this?

IGBOS are a mess to Nigeria, every where they are!, you can see the IGBOness in them. Tho! not all of them but the percentage of bad onces is overwhelming.
They are boastful yet they partake in the most de-humanizing business the world has ever known.
We can punish these Igbos and make our displeasure known to them, just as its done in America, lets boycott shops of an Igbo men. Because majority of them are involved in round tripping of dirty funds. You might see an Igbo man in a shop, without knowing its a cover up!, they join money to buy hard drugs for traffick purpose and use their shops as cover-ups.

Just keep tight pray hard! for the Igbo man's mess not to stain you.

Being a Nigerian is Hard enough, If i were a Nigerian with Igbo ethnicity i would probably commit suicide! Even if i wasnt involved in dark business. The stain is just incomprehensible. Tho! i dont blame the Igbos its strictly in their DNA, the girls are as greedy and money lovers as the guys.

500  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / South Africa Police Chief Blames igbosFor South African Drug Problems on: 10-07-2012 02:25 PM
| By SALLY EVANS

National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele has blamed Nigerians for being behind drug syndicates that have infiltrated South Africa.

Speaking at the launch of a festive-season crime-fighting campaign in Sandton yesterday, he said: "South Africa should not be the space for criminals. We are being targeted by international criminals, who are [making] factories of drugs in South Africa. They all come from Nigeria and live in Sandton."

Deputy Police Minister Fikile Mbalula warned criminals they were facing their graves.

Cele's statements follow a drug bust at a farm in Brakpan, east of Johannesburg, last weekend in which drugs to the value of R1.2-million, equipment and chemicals worth R1-billion were discovered.

The factory, police said, was established by Nigerians.

Two weeks ago, police bust a major syndicate operating in Gauteng and North West, and arrested 16 men.

Cele said the kingpin was a  igbo Nigerian national living in Sandton.

He warned that the police would be using "deadly force" during the festive season.

On the soccer World Cup he said: "We are working with Interpol and police agencies from all the 2010 countries so we understand their hooligans. Anybody who thinks South Africa is a haven for thugs, stay home, boetie."

Adele Kirsten, executive director of the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, said it had no research that backed Cele's statements about Nigerians.

"We have no research to show that foreign nationals take part in crime any more than locals do. We could not verify that."

Mbalula said it was the "civic duty" of all South Africans to fight crime alongside the police.

Celebrities and business stakeholders pledged their support for the Crime Line Festive Season Safety Campaign yesterday.

The Nigerian consulate did not respond to the commissioner's statements.
