Rubby Agu @Kenny Ikenna thanks so much bros, u've actually spoke my mind. I wasn't so surprised seeing some nasty comments by our boys, coz i knw the stuff most of them are made of. It's only criminal minded people that thinks & carry out criminal activities...don't even go far, most of these crimes by Nigerians abroad are committed by Igbos & they don't care about the negative consequences it impacts on genuine people doing their legitimate businesses. Going through the comments here it's not hard to detect such wicked, irresponsible & criminal minded elements. SHAMELESS BASTARDS!!!

They want 'fast' money while in Naija even when they get to another man's land, they stil want to make it in a fast way thereby 'TARNISHING' our country 's image. Are there no menial jobs to do to earn ur living over there. That brain they are using to calculate all these CRIMES, can't they use it to invent something that wil make them given awards of excellence? and be recognised the world over? | A member of Nigeria's House of Representatives has appeared in court, charged with conning a German businessman out of $350,000.
Morris Ibekwe was arrested on Wednesday by the anti-fraud commission in connection with a so-called "419" scam.
Nigerian conmen have become notorious for duping foreign businessmen into handing over large amounts of money, on the basis that they would receive millions of dollars later on.

Vigilante group rescues 7-yr-old girl from human traffickers

UMUAHIA— OPERATIVES of Abia State Vigilante Service, AVS, popularly known as Bakassi Boys, has smashed a human trafficking syndicate operating in Obingwa, Aba, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo and Isialangwa Local Government Areas of Abia State.
A seven-year-old girl, Miss Chinyere Chibuzor, abducted since March from Amapuife village, Osisioma council area, by two male members of the gang on a motorcycle, and awaiting to be sold, was rescued.
The vigilante outfit also arrested five members of the gang, three women and two men. They include Obinna Abel, Chimuanya Nwaobilor, Amaka Okafor, Queen Udoka, a pregnant woman and mother of four, as well as Freedom Madu.
According to the Commander-General of the vigilante outfit, Mr. Matins Idika, his men got the report of the missing child since March and had been working to track down the abductors till last week when all of them were rounded up following the arrest of the two male members of the syndicate.
Little Chinyere Chibuzor, according to her mother, Ihuoma, was allegedly abducted by Obinna and Chimuanya, when she sent her on errand with her 12-year- old elder sister, Blessing at about 7 pm.
Idika explained that the AVS started trailing the whereabout of the child until May 16, 2012, when his unit located at Uratta Timber Market reported that one alias Iyierioba reported that a baby was brought to her to be sold for N180, 000.
According to the AVS boss, his men played along with Iyierioba, who later turned out to be a member of the syndicate, till they got hold of the three women in the gang.
Idika said the suspects tried to legitimize the sale of the child in form of adoption to no avail before they were arrested.
The syndicate was said to have contacted a buyer based in Port Harcourt who had agreed to pay N.5 million, explaining that the girl would have been sold, but because the deal was struck during weekend and he had asked them to wait till working days.
But luck ran against them as they were rounded up before the appointed day.

Spain arrests Nigerian scam artists

Spanish police said Friday they had smashed a Nigerian fraud ring which tricked some 500 people out of more than a million euros in a year by convincing them they had won a lottery jackpot.
In a case mirroring many others from recent years, police detained six people in Torrejon de Ardoz, near Madrid, and Malaga in southern Spain, on suspicion of working the fraud.
Police said the network fished for victims by mailing out letters, mainly to Italians, claiming the person had won a million euros but needed to advance 4,000 euros in administrative fees to claim the jackpot.
“In 2012 alone nearly 500 victims, mainly Italian citizens, handed over various sums of money,” the police said about the network, which they had been investigating since late 2011.
In total, more than 600 people took the bait and called the number on the letter. At the other end a man in Malaga would explain how to proceed with the bank or postal money transfers.
The alleged fraudsters collected the money at the post office with the help of forged passports bearing Internet photos of famous stars, including American songstress Alicia Keys.
The network then broke off all contact with the victim.
Police seized “800 Nigerian letters ready for posting, 700 envelopes, lists of possible victims” in their search, along with 100 photos destined for passport forgery.
At the time of the arrests in a building in Torrejon de Ardoz, some “tried to flee through the window after flushing a large quantity of drugs down the toilet,” the police said, adding the network also trafficked narcotics.
The fraud is only the latest of its kind to hit Spain and other countries in recent years.
In January 2012, Indian police arrested six Nigerian nationals on suspicion of defrauding hundreds through text message and spam email scams with similar lottery claims.
In March 2009, Spanish police arrested 23 people, most of them Nigerians, on suspicion of running an email and letter scam that duped residents in the United States and Europe into believing they were left an inheritance.
One year earlier Spanish police arrested 51 people suspected of running a lottery scam that netted around 40 million euros.

Nigerian indicted in $42 million health care fraud

A Nigeria native who lives in Houston was indicted Friday on charges he sought $42 million in false Medicare and Medicaid claims by paying folks $100 each to sign blank health care forms he would later submit for reimbursement.
Umawa Oke Imo, 54, a permanent resident alien in the United States and native of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, was indicted this week but first charged and detained in June.
control.He's accused of using an improperly staffed physical therapy clinic called City Nursing Services of Texas to conspire to commit health care fraud, mail fraud and money laundering, U.S. Attorney Tim Johnson and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott announced. The clinic is at 9888 Bissonnet.
In a 36-count indictment, Imo is accused of paying recruiters to refer “patients” and paying those people $100 to sign numerous blank health care claim forms that were falsely submitted to the government though no care was rendered. Prosecutors allege Imo paid even more to keep patients from reporting the fraud to authorities once they saw claims had been made in their names.
Imo's lawyer Ralph Martinez, who said he's paid by Imo's family in Nigeria because Imo's funds are frozen, said his client was just one of many investors is this and two other clinics and had little to do with the day-to-day running of the clinic.
“He never saw patients. This is about people caught red-handed trying to curry favor with the government by blaming my client,” Martinez said.
$42 million in billing
The $42 million in billing was put through from 2007 to April 2009. Medicare paid more than $27 million and Medicaid nearly $3 million to City Nursing, prosecutors said.
The government alleges there was a check for $1 million made to Imo himself.
Martinez said his client, who initially had a public defender, does not live a lavish lifestyle. His home in Richmond has an appraised value of $283,340.
This was a joint investigation involving the FBI, IRS, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and state Medicaid fraud
