A popular musician and a Nigerian Representative in Big brother Africa, Goldie died on Valentine's day after a great tour in the u.s and presence at the 55th grammy award annual ceremony. Before the news of Goldie's death could die down, another Nollywood Actor and producer, Collins Chukwu Died in Abuja Hospital after a brief illness, barely a week after. The following morning, Monday, a Nigerian Former Super Eagles defender, Okey Isima was announced dead by his close friends. But the bitter truth is that someone else is in the hospital right now struggling for life. Somebody can't read this. Think twice and Appreciate God and His unconditional love for you. We decree to your life at this moment of time, that: what is killing others will not kill you what is affecting others will not affect you the road that some people passed and die, you will pass through it and be save your name will be spiritually changed to success and favour throughout 2013 you will not know sorrow And you will see 2014 among the living. Forum / The Buzz Central / Don jazzy denies ordering thugs to beat up princewill ojukwu |
on: 11-01-2013 01:01 PM
| Top music producer Don Jazzy has denied ordering an attack on a club manager after an alleged verbal confrontation. On January 8, 2013, it was reported that the Mavin Records CEO had been accused of ordering thugs to beat up Princewill Ifeanyi Ojukwu on December 21, 2012. Entertainment reporter Stella Dimoko Korkus claimed Ojukwu, the former manager of Auto Lounge Nightclub and Don Jazzy exchanged words at his (Don Jazzy’s) night club, POP in Victoria Island, Lagos, after which the popular producer reportedly asked ‘his thugs’ to ‘take his life’. Ojukwu claimed he was brutally beaten and stripped naked under the supervision of Don Jazzy, and suffered blunt force trauma to the eye, face and body, forcing him to be admitted into a hospital. He also alleged that a week after the incident, Don Jazzy sent him a text apologizing for the attack and offered to pay for his hospital fees, which he refused. ‘It’s not about the money. This could happen to anyone, it is abuse of power and needs to be checked before someone is killed all in the name of the other being a celebrity. Don Jazzy stood there pinging on his blackberry as his thugs beat me up, that is the last thing I remember before I fainted‘, Ojukwu said. But Don Jazzy’s camp has told Nigerian Entertainment Today the story isn’t true. ‘Don Jazzy didn’t order anybody to beat anybody up. ‘These accusations are absolutely false,’ a rep for Mavin Records told NET in a telephone conversation. He didn’t go into details, saying the matter is now being investigated by the Police. Princewill Ojukwu has already filed a petition against Don Jazzy to the Inspector General of Police in a letter dated December 28, 2012. The petition against Don Jazzy is for ‘attempted murder, stealing, unlawful destruction of property and assault, occasioning grievous bodily harm. Forum / The Buzz Central / Iyanya clears the air on fraud allegations |
on: 11-01-2013 10:44 AM
| Iyanya who was accused by producer of Nigeria's foremost comedy show, Opa Williams of defrauding him to the tune of N1.7 million, being payment for his performance at "Nite of A Thousand Laughs' shows which held recently in Benin and Port- Harcourt, has reacted to the allegation. Speaking to the press last Tuesday following the allegation, Iyanya denied the arrest of his Manager. He however admitted that the police invited them. He said they didn't spend close to 1 hour at the police station before they were allowed to leave. Opa Williams reported Iyanya to the police for allegedly collecting N1.7 million from him to perform at 'Nite of a Thousand Laughs' shows held in Benin and Port Harcourt. Unfortunately, the reigning afro-hip hop act never showed up at any of the shows. Iyanya explained that the reason they couldn't make the Benin and Port Harcourt shows was because they were stuck in traffic while on their way to the venue. "I didn't intentionally refuse to show up at the show. What happened was that Opa contacted me to perform at the Benin leg of "Night Of A Thousand Laughs." We agreed for N1.7million but he paid me only N1.5 million, promising to pay the balance of N200,000,00 after the show. Later, he told me that he wanted us to perform in another show at Port Harcourt but he didn't pay me for the Port Harcourt show. "However, I agreed to perform at both shows out of respect I have for Opa and I was in Benin for the show. Unfortunately, while I was on my way to the venue, I got stuck in traffic. That was when I got a call that the show had already ended. Meanwhile, I was scheduled to close the show," Iyanya claimed. Contrary to reports that he was paid N1.7m however, Iyanya said, Opa Williams paid him only N1.5 million, promising to pay the balance of N200,000 after the show he never showed up at. Iyanya said he had since refunded the money to Opa Williams. "Yes, I refunded the money through an Access Bank cheque immediately." "When I couldn't make it to the shows, Opa showed up with some policemen who took us to the police station. And like I said earlier, we didn't spend close to 1 hour at the station. All they asked for was a refund. There and then, I issued a cheque to Opa which was cashed immediately. They didn't detain us. I have since apologised to Opa for missing the shows," Iyanya said. Forum / The Buzz Central / Let sms be free, telecom subscribers tells operators |
on: 11-01-2013 10:25 AM
| Mobile telephone subscribers on Thursday in Abuja called for a uniform tariff for Short Message Service (SMS) from all telecom operators in the country. The subscribers made the call in separate interviews. Mr David Amachree, who sells cosmetics, said that it was unfair for the operators to be charging differently for SMS from one network to another. Amachree urged the telecom operators to slash the rate of SMS to other networks. "The SMS that we send cost N5 for same network and N15 for other networks. It should go down. It should be uniform for all networks. "They should cut it down to a maximum of N3 or N5 per SMS, it should go down. The population of this country is so large that every one Naira cumulatively turn into millions. "So they are cheating us honestly; the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC ) should sit up and be up to the task in their responsibility,'' Amachree urged. Mrs Victoria Onyebuchi, a primary school teacher, said that SMS should be free to subscribers to serve as value added services for being on a particular network. Onyebuchi also urged NCC to compel the telecom operators to reduce and charge uniform tariffs for all networks in the country. "Why is it that whatever come to Nigeria is always different; they can't do this in other developed countries. Our leaders are not helping us they should try and do something to compel these telecom operators to come down. "Let free SMS be a kind of incentive for subscribers whom the operators make fortunes out of,' ' Onyebuchi said. Miss Halima Yakubu, a student at the University of Abuja, said that the present charge on SMS was hindering text communication betwen students using different networks. "For instance, a student in an emergency situation having just N5 credit in his or her phone cannot send an SMS to a friend using a different network; this is just unfair.
