A 39 year old German man named Uwe Mitzscherlich made the most bizarre decision of marrying his ailing cat named Cecilia.

Mitzscherlich  married his cat after the animal fell ill and vets told him it might not live much longer.

According to reports, Uwe Mitzscherlich, 39, paid an actress 300 euros (£260,$395) to officiate at the ceremony, as marrying an animal is illegal in Germany.

Mr Mitzscherlich said he had wanted to tie the knot before his asthmatic cat Cecilia died.

The cat and groom have lived together for 10 years.

“Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time and she has always slept in my bed,” Mr Mitzscherlich, a postman from the eastern town of Possendorf, told Bild.

Actress Christin-Maria Lohri, who officiated the ceremony, was quoted as saying: “At first I thought it was a joke. But for Mr Mitzscherlich it’s a dream come true”.

5  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / How Clement was recruited into a robbery gang on: 8-07-2012 04:21 PM
A suspected armed robber has sensationally revealed how he joined a deadly gang in Lagos. According to Clement, his discovery of guns in the commercial bus he was driving for one of his friends led him to crime.
Clement’s gang was recently rounded up in Lagos. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, told Saturday Sun that his men arrested the suspects when one of their girlfriends led policemen to their hideout.
In the raid, several guns were recovered from the robbers, including a bus, an AK 47 rifle and a pistol earlier snatched from policemen.

Revealing how he became an armed robber, Clement said: “About five years ago, I wasn’t a robber. I worked as a furniture maker at Agbedo. That was before I met Sule Fatai. After awhile, we became friends. One day, he brought a commercial bus to me and asked me to keep it. He said he would come occasionally for it whenever he had need for it.

“While it was in my care, I made use of the bus for transportation and whenever Fatai asked for it, I would release it. He never told me what he used the vehicle for on those occasions. Then, one day, I searched it and discovered some guns hidden under the back seat.”
From that discovery, Clement became the official armourer of the 12-man gang. The bus became an easy means of transporting the weapons to the scene of any operation without drawing the suspicion of law enforcement agents.

Clement revealed that when members of their gang were arrested, lawyers would help them regain freedom. He cited the case of one of their members, Sule, who was arrested sometime ago but regained freedom through bail application. He said that Sule spent six months in Kirikiri, before being freed, after which he organized a robbery attack at Oshodi, where he was killed.

“While he was in prison, he also coordinated some of the robbery attacks, as his own share was always kept,” he revealed.
On how Sule managed to secure his release, from custody, Clement said: “Normally, we have seasoned lawyers on our payroll. Once you are lucky to be arrested alive, all you need to do is to insist that you be charged to court. From Kirikiri, our lawyers would apply for bail, with the excuse that we were arrested during a police raid. As I said, those lawyers are professionals; so they can easily persuade the judge to grant bail. Suleiman paid N700, 000 to the lawyer who secured his bail, while Fatai, now dead, paid N1.2 million to secure his release. Most of the top members in the gang have pending cases in different courts in Lagos.”

Clement further revealed the several operations his gang carried out. “We were responsible for the Oshodi, incident that led to the death of a pregnant woman and two policemen. It was our gang that robbed the recharge card distributor on Allen Avenue, Lagos, the Thermocool office at Oshodi and a big department store at Igando,” he said.

Commenting on the suspect’s revelation on how armed robbers regain freedom, a police source said: “More often than not, the police prosecutor is never aware of the application for bail. We are never served. The suspect’s counsel will go to court to say what he likes and the state is never represented. Definitely, if the police are notified of such applications, we would make our case before the court on why such suspects shouldn’t be released on bail because they would go straight back to crime.

“You can imagine when we heard that the criminals we had laboured hard to arrest are back in the streets, more daring. Usually, once these suspects get out, it is difficult to get them back. They would go underground.”
He revealed that one notorious armed robber, Muyiwa, aka Big 90, was arrested by SARS in 2011 and charged to court for armed robbery, murder, theft and illegal possession of firearms. He was remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons, while the prosecution awaited the DPP’s advice.
He said: “We eventually learnt Big 90 had been released on bail by a high court. We were never served concerning the bail processes and since then, Big 90 has remained elusive.

“There was the case of Segun, aka Shaggy, who was arrested by the SARS for an alleged armed robbery attack and murder and subsequently charged for both offences. Okpere is a free citizen today. Also, one Niyi, who was arrested and charged for alleged criminal offences, is currently a unit chairman under the National Union of Road Transport Worker. He was released by the court behind the back of the police.”
The source said that none of the suspects ever went on trial, after they were granted bail.

6  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Fake colonel dupes 24 through fake recruitment on: 8-07-2012 04:13 PM
A man who has been parading himself as a Colonel in the Nigerian Army has been nabbed in Ibadan, Oyo State capital. Adeleke Johnson was alleged to have defrauded several people on the false pretence that he would recruit them into the army.

The 62 year old alleged fake colonel was said to have defrauded several victims before he was arrested following a tip-off. The suspect has been parading himself as an Army colonel currently attached to the 2nd Mechanized Division Nigeria Army, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment Ibadan.

Crimewatch gathered that the suspect was arrested on April 13, 2012 by the military personnel and he was reported to have duped about 24 people of N2million purportedly to facilitate their recruitment. The General Officer Commanding(GOC)2nd Division , Nigerian Army, Major General Muhammed Abubakar said that the suspect was a dismissed corporal but he was parading himself as Colonel and whenever he came to the headquarter he was usually given compliment.

Major General Abubakar said he gathered that he was dismissed as corporal when he sold diesel at ECR Ede Osun State and that he has been dismissed since 1981. He said the suspect had told the unsuspecting parents of the victims that were found with him, eight females and 16 males with ages range between 17 and 29 years, that he would train their wards in the Nigerian Army Intelligence College in Lagos.

“The suspect had planned to use our sport ground to train them without any application to the authority. The Army has a procedure on how to recruit and we normally publicise it in the media”, the GOC said. Abubakar added that the suspect had printed fake admission letters, T-shirts, and track suits and sold them to the victims with 2 Division Mascot (Tiger) and the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps (NAIC) Logo . “During the preliminary investigation none of my officers was involved in the conspiracy and everything the suspect did was illegal”, the GOC 2 said.
In a chat with Crimewatch, the suspect confessed that he was dismissed from the Nigerian Army as Corporal when he stole diesel at ECR, Ede in Osun State.

“I started this fake recruitment right from Abeokuta in Ogun state and I have recruited from Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and some of the victims sleep in my house,” he said. He explained that he bought some printing press through which he said he printed fake admission letters, T-shirts and track suits which were bought at Idumota in Lagos. “I started recruiting them and collecting money from them with a promise to train them in Lagos before we will move them to Abuja. “I started collecting N15,000 for form from each of them.

I deceived them that they will start training at the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army Sports ground. We started to jog and I borrowed some money from the families of the victims”, he said. One of the victims, Folake Alase, a 200 Level student of Osun State University explained her experience to our reporter: “I didn’t show interest in joining the Army but my parents were desperate that I should join the Army.

My father paid certain money and borrowed him the sum of N150,000. I was shocked when we heard that he was a fake colonel and he had duped us.” Another victim, Niyi Alomogun, 29 years old and an Accountancy graduate from the Ogun State University said that Johnson collected over N50,000 from him and that they used his house in Abeokuta as camp. ”He promised that after the training he will take us to Abuja and from there to overseas country. It was when information got to us that he has been arrested by the Army personnel that some of us from Abeokuta stormed the Division 2 in Ibadan

It was gathered that most of the parents of the victims stormed the Ibadan cantonment of the Nigerian Army. The GOC has however transferred the arrested fake Colonel to the state police Command for proper investigation. Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Tambari Mohammed said that the suspect has been transferred to the police and that a proper investigation into the matter has commenced. CP Mohammed warned parents to take it easy whenever they are looking for jobs for their children so that they will not fall into the hands of dupe.

He further warned that whenever any of the nation security agency is recruiting, it is usually done in the open and that awareness are created through the media. He said when the police command concluded its investigation the suspect will be charged to court.

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Born With One Eye, Pe-nis On Forehead In South Africa on: 8-07-2012 07:34 AM
DOCTORS at Dr Malizo Mpehle Memorial Hospital in Tsolo (Eastern Cape province of South Africa) delivered a baby with an eye and a penis on the forehead yesterday, the provincial health department said.

The baby girl, who was born to a 16-year-old girl from Qumbu, did not survive.

Eastern Cape department of health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the baby was born with one eye on her forehead, and no eyes where her eyes should have been.

She had a penis on the forehead even though she is a girl; and exposed small and large intestines.

“She was born with a small penis on the forehead and one eye on the forehead,” Kupelo said.

“She was born with no nose and where there are supposed to be eyes there was nothing, just skin covered over the area.”

Earlier this month, a pair of conjoined twins were born, also at the Dr Malizo Mpehle district hospital in Tsolo. Kupelo said at the time that they were the fifth set of conjoined twins born in the former Transkei in the past 18 months.

Last year in November, one child was born with an exposed heart in Port Elizabeth and another reported case was one with an exposed brain in Middleberg.

Kupelo said this pressed for the department to do a study. There were 29 birth defects last year alone.

“We urge pregnant women to start ante-natal care early for early detection,” said Kupelo, adding that this was vital especially in the first trimester
