Whoever presented this data as the work of Muslims coinciding with the recent protest is nothing but a malicious propagandist.
I have seen that very photo posted on another website a few years back and no one pointed these perpetrators as Muslim so it's way too convenient now to start saying this is the work of Muslims. The first time I saw this photo years back it was actually claimed that these people were actually "Christians"...whether that claim is even true or false, should non-Christians start demonising Christianity for the sake of an allegation just like some have done with Muslims and Islam?
The recent protests that have occurred involving certain Muslim communities are appalling and inexcusable but does that justify spreading false claims abut Islam/Muslims?
Every allegation levied against Muslims is accepted automatically without questioning or thinking critically only because it correlates with certain people's narrow stereotype about Muslims or Islam.
For the record I'm not even a Muslim but the very first time I saw that photo years back I held the thought that religion in Nigeria should seriously be regulated and I still hold on to that notion firmly today. Clearly religion is not working in Nigeria where ignorance is rampant.
I'm actually more surprised by whoever thought this cooked up story was newsworthy to feature on the front page when all it does is fan the flames and isn't even verified.
