Luqman Mukthar Shagari, second son of the Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari died yesterday afternoon April 18th in a horrific car accident.
The 28 year old business man (in white) was on his way to Sokoto from his base in Abuja when he lost control of his car. Luqman and his friend Ghaddaffi (pictured above in the passenger sit), died instantly. The one at the back miraculously survived the accident. Luqman's car was burnt beyond recognition. (pictured below right)
The photo below left was the last photo the friends took in the car before the accident yesterday. Luqman is survived by a wife and a son.
India - In a shocking incident of public apathy, a woman was publicly beaten up with iron rods by four men in Ludhiana as people stood as mere spectators.
The incident happened in broad daylight yet nobody stepped in to help the woman.
What's even more shocking is that a video clip was shot by one of the four men.
The woman had allegedly asked one of the accused Manoj to return her Rs 20,000 which she had lent him.
This irked Manoj who then started beating her.
This is not the first time such an incident has come to light from Punjab.
A few weeks back, some policemen in Tarn Taran had beaten up a girl and her father when she approached the police to register a complaint.

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday arrested a pregnant woman, Esther Peters for allegedly setting her husband, Anayo Kenneth Peters, ablaze at Ijedemo village, Isheri Osun, at the outskirts of Lagos, on Tuesday morning.
DailyPost had gathered that officers from Isheri Police Station responded to a distress call and immediately swung into action, thereby intercepting the pregnant woman when she was trying to escape.
However, the suspect denied being responsible for the crime. However, neighbours said she was always in the habit of fighting with her late husband.
Lagos State Deputy Police spokesman, Mr. Damasus Ozoani confirmed that she had been arrested while the husband’s body has also been deposited in the mortuary, pending police investigation.
Ozoani said, “The police at Isheri Osun got a report that a woman at Ijedemo village had set her husband ablaze. When our men got there, they saw the woman trying to escape. They saw the man burnt to death.
“Immediately, the police arrested the woman and took the body of the man to Yaba General Hospital. The woman alleged that it was the candle light they left in the house that sent the man to his early grave, but neighbours said the man had a quarrel with the wife a day before the incident. We are investigating the matter. The woman would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba for discrete investigation.”
1, Understand what a gold digger is and is not. There’s nothing wrong with a person being concerned about your financial stability. They drop hints that they’re having trouble paying their bills and often they might even ask you directly for a “loan”. Gold diggers never give you anything. They never offer to help you in anyway. If the person you’re with is constantly discussing your six figure salary and your expensive car, it’s time to say goodbye.
3, When you suggest ways to make money to a gold digger or ask them to pay for something with their own money, they look at you like you’re crazy. A gold digger believes that they have a right to your money. So suggesting that they should use their money when yours is available is an idea they find ridiculous.
4, Pay attention to the questions they ask you. Certain questions which might seem harmless might really be an attempt to judge your financial ability. How much do you make a year? And what type of car do you drive? Why would she/he ask this question? Because a gold digger is a mobile calculator. They are trying to determine your overall worth and whether being with you is a profitable investment for them.
5, A gold digger won’t encourage you to embark on any expensive projects no matter how essential they are for your progress. If you suggest doing anything that will take a lot of money and affect your lifestyle, a gold digger will be horrified or disgusted and say things like “You’re not really serious, are you?” OR they are ready to call it quits and leave because you are paying attention to “you” instead of “them”.
6, A gold digger is always trying to keep up with the Joneses. She’s always telling you what another girl’s boyfriend bought her and he’s always telling you how his friend’s girlfriend supports him with money. They always want the latest thing in town and they want to buy it with your money not theirs.
7, The only time a gold digger ever shows you genuine affection is when you get paid. If you notice that your partner suddenly becomes more caring when you get money, you definitely have a gold digger on your hands.

Former Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Ehi Okomoyon, has been arrested and is being quizzed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja. Vanguard leant from a reliable source that the MD, who resigned following the curious disappearance of N1000 fresh bank notes amounting to N2.1 billion from the fortified premises, was picked up on Sunday to answer questions in connection with the missing money and the bribery scandal arising from the polymer notes contract awarded by former CBN governor, Prof. Charles Soludo. A source said the man would remain with the security agents until he had given satisfactory answers to issues being posed to him. The source, who pleaded anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, said, “It is true that Okomoyon was arrested and taken to the Earacac office in Abuja for interrogation in connection with several issues at the NSPMC. “I cannot say if he will be released today or next because the operatives feel they should interact the more with him following the statement made by him.” Nigerian officials allegedly received bribes in a printing contract for banknotes by Securency, a note-printing firm partly owned by the Reserve Bank of Australia. Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwuma Soludo was also quizzed by the EFCC in January in connection with the scam. EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed the arrest of Okomoyon.

Boko Haram has released a video showing the French family which was kidnapped in Cameroon, near the border with Nigeria. The three minutes 26 seconds video, posted on YouTube today, Monday, February 25, shows the seven members of the Moulin Fournier family, kidnapped on February 19: three adult members of the family - two men and one woman, and four children sitting between two armed men, masked, and in military fatigue, and a third who acted as the group spokesperson. The family is shown as being held in an undisclosed location. "We have been taken by Jama'atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda'awati wal-Jihad," one of the male hostages said in the video, referring to the name in Arabic of Nigeria's Boko Haram militants. "They want the liberation of their brothers in Cameroon and their women imprisoned in Nigeria." The spokesperson confirmed they belong to the Jama'a Ahl al-Sunnah lil Da'wa wal Jihad, better known as Boko Haram. "The president of France has launched a war on Islam," said one of the apparent kidnappers, warning the hostages would be killed if their demands were not met. "Finally, I say to you, fulfill all of these things, and if you leave one thing from them we will slaughter those we took, we will slaughter those we took," the spokesperson threatened at the end of the video. The release comes a day after a faction of the group told journalists in Nigeria they were pushing for a ceasefire and that the leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau, was in support of dialogue with the government. French President, François Hollande, had mentioned Boko Haram as the kidnappers of the hostages. French prime minister Jean-Marc Ayrault confirmed that Boko Haram had kidnapped the family, saying they were probably being held in Nigeria.
"The video tape... is being studied by our [intelligence] services, who are examining precisely the nature of these claims," he said. "French authorities are in close and permanent contact with Nigerian and Cameroonian authorities."
"A video of the French family kidnapped last Tuesday in northern Cameroon has been released by Boko Haram," French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said in a statement. "For all of us, these images are terribly shocking. They display a cruelty without bounds. We are proceeding with the checks required in these circumstances. All state resources are mobilised to free our compatriots." A source close to the family confirmed the identities of the family members shown in the video to the AFP news agency. It was not clear when the video was made. Cameroon's communication minister Issa Tchiroma Bakary said he could not comment because his government was not aware of the video.
