Following the ripples the news story that top Nigerian gospel singer, Tope Alabi reportedly alleged that some moneybags and men of God were dying to sleep with her has caused, the sonorous singer has reacted furiously to the news piece.
The story later took another turn when it was reported that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has challenged her to name the pastors that allegedly made segxwal advances to her.
In a telephone conversation with Nigeriafilms.com on the night of Thursday, October 4, 2012, the multiple award-winning singer disclosed to us that she never alleged any pastor of dying to sleep with her. She also stressed that PFN has not contacted or personally confronted her on the story.

"PFN has not confronted me to tell them what happened about the sex issue. There is nothing of such, I never granted such interview that some pastors and moneybags are following me to have sex with me. Nothing like that happened to me. I work in the church, my ministry is the church. Everything I do is in the church. Even if such happens, can’t I handle it myself? Must I tell a reporter about it? Such shouldn’t even come out of my mouth," Tope Alabi told Nigeriafilms.com.

She claimed that she was misquoted in the interview. According to her, she was asked if no one comes to her with segxwal advances, especially with the beauty she commands. Tope said that she answered by saying that if they come to and find out she isn’t such a person, they become her friend.

"The journalists (a male and a female) said do you want to tell us that you don’t have any toasters? People that worry you for sex? And I said if such thing should happen, when they come to me and find out that I am not that kind of a person, they would stop it and be my friends. That was what I said," Tope Alabi reiterated.

Tope Alabi rates as one of the best selling gospel artistes in Nigeria especially in the Yoruba genre. She is married.
82  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Ex-Convict Cannot Rule AGN—Emeka Ike ----Drags Emma Oguguah To Police Again on: 12-10-2012 09:57 AM
It is no news that Fiberesima Ibinabo has emerged the new president of troubled Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) but that her administration might again be crisis ridden just like the past two might be news.

This is because popular actor, Emeka Ike is set for a showdown to continue his fight, which nearly wrecked the tenure Segun Arinze, who resigned as the president in April 2012 after a scuffled election in Benin City, Edo State.

At the election help on September 27, 2012 which brought Ibinabo into office, Emeka reportedly stormed the guild’s secretariat in Lagos to arrest the vice chairman of AGN’s BOT, Emma Oguguah and took him to Zone 2 police headquarters in Lagos.

Last week Thursday, Emeka, Ibinabo, Emma and their lawyers were at the Zone 2 headquarters over the case. Both Emeka and Emma claimed threat to lives on each other. Efforts to broker peace between the parties failed.

While Ibinabo offered Emeka to work in her government in order to move the guild forward, Emeka asked if Ibinabo has cleared her served-jailed term. He further asked if the manslaughter charge on her has finally been settled which Ibinabo rightly affirmed she has been cleared of.

Speaking with Nigeriafilms.com, Emeka stated that an ex-convict cannot rule the Guild. He said that he is not interested in ruling AGN but was only fighting that the Guild be saved from the hands of Emma, who he claimed, has solely held the Guild in his hands.

Meanwhile, Emeka Rollas has finally accepted Ibinabo as the president elect. Ibinabo is barely two weeks in office now, will her aim of bringing back A-list Nollywood stars back into AGN be achieved with the enormous crises before her? Time will tell

84  Forum / Politics / Nigerian Political Leaders Are Bad –Dimeji Bankole on: 12-10-2012 09:50 AM
“These leaders fail to mentor those who are to take over from them and what we have instead are sit-tight leaders who decide to die in office. Nigeria will only be placed on the path of progress, growth and development when we start to prepare our youths for leadership."

Former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, has blamed politicians for the many problems bedevilling the country.

Bankole, who is currently facing corruption charges in Abuja, said this while delivering a lecture at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta on Wednesday.

In a paper entitled, “Mentoring and the Challenges of Leadership in Africa”, the former Speaker said the political class had worsened the woes of the ordinary Nigerians.

He noted that if Nigerian leaders had returned to the standards of the nation’s founding fathers, many more concrete achievements and tremendous breakthroughs would have been accomplished in the country.

Bankole, who stressed need to mentor future leaders properly, said it was a sure way for the survival of democracy in Nigeria. He said, "Proper tutelage is indispensable for success in any vocation and Nigeria must urgently start the process of disallowing untutored and untested persons from mounting the saddle of leadership.”
85  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Ex-Minister's First Son Dies In Power Bike Accident on: 12-10-2012 09:38 AM
The complaints of officials of Roads Safety about the activities of power bikers in Nigeria resonated recently when Mohammed, the first son of ex-Minister of Power and Steel, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, died in a power bike accident.

It was learnt that 34-year-old Mohammed died on October 1 on his way to Abuja after participating at a bikers’ convention in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Mohammed, according a source, had told his driver to drive along while he rode on his power bike.

Although there were reports that he fell from his bike before he was crushed by two oncoming vehicles, findings show that a trailer actually hit Mohammed from behind before he was crushed by an oncoming vehicle.

A source, who claimed that her boyfriend also took part in the convention that was held between September 29 and 30, said Mohammed, who was often referred to as Mr. D among fellow bikers, put on his full kit when the accident occurred.

The source said, “Mr. D was on his bike and put on his full kit when a trailer hit him from behind. Another vehicle that was coming from the other side of the road later crushed him and dragged him into the bush.

“Mohammed died on the spot. The vehicle mangled his body. His remains were flown in a chartered plane back to Kano, his home town, and he had since being buried according to Islamic rites.”
86  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / UNILAG Student Jailed For Defraudiing Woman Through The Internet on: 12-10-2012 09:24 AM
Internet crime and criminality is sure a big problem with many of our youths now in a desperate rush to escape the strong hold of poverty, and join the big boys league.

For allegedly defrauding an American lady, Miss Kathy Lunsford through the internet under the pretext of marriage, a University of Lagos student, Michael Opaleye has been sent to jail by a Lagos State High Court.

Opaleye was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment on Thursday by Justice Aishat Opesanwo for defrauding Miss Lunsford, of $9,200 US dollars under the pretext of wanting to get married to her.

The convict who is studying computer science at UNILAG had pleaded guilty to the charge of obtaining by false pretence and forgery. He had entered into a plea bargain deal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) and offered to pay back the money to his victim.

The judge in her judgment, said the sentence would commence on 15 March when he was first arraigned before the court.

Justice Opesanwo also ordered Opaleye after his release from prison, to pay N100,000 monthly to the victim through the EFCC until he refunded the total amount involved in the scam.

The convict is also to forfeit the electronic appliances and other items purchased with the proceeds of the crime, which were recovered from his house during the investigation, to the EFCC.

EFCC counsel, Mr Anselem Ozioko said Opaleye had between 2008 and 2011, swindled Miss Lunsford by making a phoney marriage proposal to her through e-mail.

He said Miss Lunsford had sent Opaleye the said amount as part of his travelling expenses from the United Kingdom to the United States of America to facilitate their marriage.

Ozioko said the defendant forged a Nigeria drivers Licence No. WWD24174AAJ, which he claimed was issued by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC). Opaleye also forged a bank draft which he claimed was issued by the Bank of Ireland, Dublin.

The offences according to him had contravened Sections 419 and 467 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State 2003.

Opaleye has since been moved to the prison to serve his sentence.
87  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / They Labelled My Son A Thief To Kill Him –Father Of Chidiaka, Aluu 4 Victim on: 12-10-2012 09:22 AM
One of the parents of the slain UNIPORT students, Mr. Steven Biringa, has insisted that his son, Chidiaka, was labelled a thief by his assailants so that they could find a reason to kill him.

Mr. Biringa insited that his son had a good upbringing. He said it was unfortunate for members of the Aluu community to kill his son “over spurious claims”.

Biringa, from Obowo Local Government of Imo State, said Chidiaka was always contented with what he had and would only plead with his parents to get what he needed.

He said, “I have always said that if you have seen me, you have seen my child. My child was full of humility. The issue of stealing or being an armed robber is unimaginable. He is dead and would not be here to defend himself.

“They (slain students) were supposed to be trained to take charge when we leave the stage. So why would somebody get up one day and give them a bad name and kill them? It’s just like giving a dog a bad name in order to kill it.

“It is not just killing the young men, but the manner which they did it is more annoying. I know my son will die one day just like you and I, but why now and why should it be in the most unacceptable form?

“I don’t see Chidiaka going to pick somebody’s thing. It is unfortunate that he is being labelled a thief or an armed robber or whatever name they must have given to him. But I know that till tomorrow, if I meet him after this planet earth, I am sure he would remain what he has always been. Chidiaka is never a thief and will never be a thief.”

Mr. Biringa appealed to government to allow the law to take its cause in the matter
88  Forum / Politics / Exposed! Dino Melaye Gave Me Syphilis –Young Actress on: 12-10-2012 09:11 AM
The ‘dirty water’ controversial former lawmaker, Dino Melaye may have found himself swimming in has taken a new turn. If the story making the rounds is anything to go by, then, more troubles await the husband of Tokunbo Melaye.

This is because the ‘smooth player’ has now been dragged into another controversy, which may be messier than the pregnancy mess he is in with Yoruba actress, Bisi Ibidapo Obe.

According to what BON reported, another up and coming Yoruba actress has accused the father of three of infecting her with a segxwally transmitted disease called Syphilis. She also alleged Dino to be a potential carrier of the dreaded HIV virus.

BON reported that a budding actress (name withheld) sent a mail to them detailing her segxwal transaction with Dino.

Below is a copy of the mail:
“My name is ——–, I am an upcoming actress and I have featured in over 20 Yoruba films mostly as waka about. Last year, I met one of the big names in the industry who lives in Magodo and she became my friend and we were relating on sister basis. She was very nice to me and she even gave me a role in her movie directed by Muyideen and shot in Omole Estate.

On my birthday last year (2011), she (the big actress) used my picture on her bb (BlackBerry) and Hon. Dino saw it and begged that she hooked us up. She did but told me plain that she was not asking me to date him that the choice was mine.

Hon Dino started wooing me, he will call for long hours and he changed my phone and at one instance gave me 250,000 to change my wardrobe. I asked Hon. Melaye if he was married and he said he was separated as he caught his wife in bed with another man in his matrimonial home.

One thing about Dino is that he hates CD (condom) and the first time we had sex, we argued for over 2hours as I said no to unprotected sex but after some sweet talks, I agreed and we continue like that. It didn’t take long before I started feeling funny and when I told my sister, who was a doctor, she ran some tests on me and told me I had Syphilis.

I picked my phone and told Dino. This was the last time he picked my calls and he deleted me from his bbm. If he denies this, I will send you at least 3 of our hotel receipts bearing his name. I am out because I know that there are more greedy girls like me and the rate at which Dino is going, he is a potential HIV carrier. Dino is very smooth and lies come to him easily."

Editor: this letter is unedited except the fact that we removed her name as agreed.

Chinua Achebe’s latest work There Was A Country has continued to generate heat as leaders and elder statesmen continue to take opposing sides over comments in the book. It would be recalled that Achebe, in his just released Civil War memoirs, accuses the leaders of the then Federal Government, particularly Gen. Yakubu Gowon, who was the Head of State, and the Vice Chairman of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, of committing genocide against the Igbo. In a statement yesterday, an associate of the late Chief Awolowo, Chief Ayo Adebanjo said he was sad and distressed that Achebe could be cedited with such a statement stating that “air minded persons cannot accuse Chief Awolowo of being part of the intellectual arm of a cabinet that intentionally initiated the pogrom of the Igbo, when in fact the record shows he took positive steps to persuade Ojukwu to avoid the conflict”. Another associate of the late Leader of the Yoruba, Chief Ayo Fasanmi described Achebe’s comment as a plot to pitch the Igbo against the Yoruba while Chief Ebenezer Babatope, who was the Director of Organisation of the Awo-led Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) in the Second Republic, said the attack on the late sage by Achebe is “condemnable and uncalled for”. However, former President General Ohaneze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, said nobody should crucify Achebe for his comment because “the truth must be told”. Criticisms and comments have continued to trail Achebe’s latest work.

95  Forum / Politics / David Mark Warns Jonathan: We Are Not Robots on: 11-10-2012 12:40 PM
“As to whether the National Assembly has the power to make inputs to Appropriation Bills laid before it, our stand is that the parliament is constitutionally empowered to make inputs. What the constitution enjoins Mr. President to lay before the National Assembly are mere estimates, not immutable figures."

Senate President, David Mark has warned President Goodluck Jonathan against seeing the National Assembly as “a mere mechanical rubber-stamp that must robotically pass budget estimates as presented.”

Mark stated this in his opening remarks at the presentation of the 2013 budget estimates by President Jonathan to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday in Abuja.

Insisting that they would continue to make input to Appropriation Bills as constitutionally provided, the Senate President said: "Once the estimates are so laid, their consideration becomes subject to the constitutionally prescribed modes of exercising legislative power.”
96  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Why The Wedding Of TV Girl Juliet Crumbled on: 11-10-2012 12:34 PM
This is kind of an eye opener for many Nigerian ladies who fall in love with a guy because they believe he's loaded with cash and within a few weeks they are already talking about marriage.

Former Soundcity presenter and model, Juliet met Chima Ojukwu, a Us-based guy in September 2011 and within a week they were already engaged. Less than a month into the relationship they had their introduction. Chima followed it with a traditional marriage the next month and they planned their white wedding in the US but something happened.

The wedding was unceremoniously called off and the love birds parted ways. There are two sides to the short-lived love story and it is left for you to choose which side to believe.

Juliet has since changed her facebook status from married to single. Here is what she said about the issue in a recent interview: "We parted ways over irreconcilable differences. We were incompatible. At a point, being in the marriage became life threatening. If I was still in it, my enemy may have been dead by now, all in the name of trying to make it work and to avoid what people will say.

"I had to cancel the wedding in America because here in Nigeria where my family and his family are, there were verbal and domestic abuse. Going to a foreign land where I knew no one would have been worse. So, there was no need for the American wedding since it was already failing in Nigeria."

But those who claim to be aware of what went down behind the scene said Juliet is a cheap liar. Friends of the guy, Chima, said she pulled out of the wedding because of money. According to them, Juliet apparently went into the relationship in a hurry believing that Chima has a lot of money since he's based in the US.

However, when they became very close lovers, she got to know more about his true financial state and thought the guy can't do a lot for her. She cancelled the wedding, citing "irreconcilable difference".

Juliet has however denied the allegations, saying love is important to her than money

A youth corps member with the National War College, Abuja, Dr. Pascalina Onuoha, has been honoured with a chieftaincy title by the Galadimawa community, Abuja, for donating a bin for evacuating waste.

The optometrist was given the title, Bazhim Gbagvinu 1 (woman commander) of Galadimawa by the District head, Alhaji Musa Barde, at a colourful ceremony attended by a large segment of the community.

Until she donated the N1.6m roll bin, residents dumped their waste by the road that leads to the community and were at risk of disease outbreak.

Before the bin was inaugurated, Onuoha visited the district head and explained her plan to assist his people to manage their waste in a more responsible and environmentally-sustainable way.

She also went round the community and spoke to the residents about the need to keep their environment clean and dispose their litter in a proper way.

Speaking Dr. Onuoha said she was motivated to take action by the unsanitary condition of the area, having observed the poor manner the residents disposed their waste.

“I discovered that the community didn’t have a proper waste management system; residents simply dumped waste at a spot by the road and this is the fastest way to provoke an epidemic,” Onuoha said.

The ‘woman commander of Galadimawa’ said she saw the title as a responsibility to do more for the people, adding that her future plan was to set up a non-governmental organisation through which she could touch lives.

Onuoha also distributed 50 pieces of clothes to widows as well as five mosquito nets and 150 exercise books to pupils of LEA Primary School, Galadimawa.

“We need Anichebe, we need Obafemi Martins, we need Uche Kalu, we need Yakubu Aiyebgeni and we indeed need all the good players.

“But I cannot bring all the players at the same time; there must be a limit to the number of players that I must work with in any match,” he said.

Keshi also confirmed Joseph Yobo’s injury and his unavailability for the game against Liberia : “My captain is injured. He has a little problem in his knee. We wish him well. He is still very much needed in the team,” Keshi said.
