 Shocked
Seems the Beyonce preggo rumors are true-mors ... at least according to E!, which is now reporting the singer is knocked up with her second child.

The rumor mill had been in overdrive over the past week -- especially with Beyonce bailing on a concert in Belgium at the last minute due to "dehydration and exhaustion."

Everyone on the planet knows ... when a celeb drops the ol' "D&E" excuse, it's code for -- we're hiding something.

31-year-old Beyonce gave birth to her first child -- daughter Blue Ivy -- back in January 2012.

No word on when B and Jay-Z are dropping kid #2.

B's reps have been contacted for comment -- so far, no word back ... however, Russell Simmons tweeted a congratulatory message to the couple ... and that guy's connected ... so, yeah.

The bride price is what it sounds like—a specific price (property, money, etc.) paid by the bridegroom (or his family) to the bride’s parents. Depending on the society and the period, this could be either a set price for all brides (virgins having a higher price) or a negotiated price based on the perceived worth of the girl (beautiful or especially industrious women being more highly valued).

The dowry, on the other hand, is the wealth a woman brings to her husband as a part of the marriage. The dowry has usually been provided by the woman’s family at the time of the marriage; the idea behind the dowry is to aid the beginning of the new household, aiding the new husband in the provision for his wife.

Interestingly, the dowry has usually been greater than the bride price in those cultures practicing both traditions, suggesting that the concept of “buying” a wife misunderstands the reasoning behind such transactional marriages. Consider the following scenario: a young man must pay a bride price of $10,000 to the bride’s parents before he marries his choice of a bride. When he marries her, she brings a dowry of $25,000 from her parents as “seed money” for the new marriage.

In addition to helping the young marriage start off well, the dowry also aimed to provide for a young woman in the event of her husband’s untimely death or a divorce (generally the dowry would need to be returned by the husband, making it financially difficult to divorce—modern “alimony” payments derive from this concept and the related concept of the “dower,” which was sort of like an ancient pre-nuptial agreement). Also, since in many past societies, women did not receive an inheritance from their parents, the dowry served as a substitute for the woman’s inheritance. Upon the death of a woman, the value of her dowry was to be divided only among her children—it was not to go to any of her husband’s other children, if he had any.

So, let no one make this mistake again: the dowry and the bride price are entirely different things, though each has an eye toward improving the success of the fledgling marriage. The bride price was paid by the groom to the bride’s parents, while the dowry was brought into the marriage by the woman, usually through the provision of her parents.

27  Forum / The Buzz Central / Why Do Cockroaches Come Towards You When Trying To Escape? on: 10-05-2013 12:22 AM
Have you ever pondered on the truism of this question? I have!

Roaches may be dirty, nasty disease carrying bugs that appear to survive given just about any circumstance that would otherwise be thought of as the harshest of conditions where even humankind couldn't survive. So you may be surprised to learn roaches have devised their own form of survival skills given a situation they feel puts them in danger.
Roaches aren't really dumb. They are quick to learn and adapt and they do it quite well. You may have noticed that when you swat at a roach or spray it on a wall, a cabinet, the side of a chair or anywhere the bug is hanging or walking on at an angle it quickly drops to the ground. This is a defense mechanism. To the roach letting go and falling to the floor is a chance to get away. If they hung on they figure they would get flattened for sure.
Another defense mechanism of the roach is the act of playing possum. Suppose that you hit the roach with a mop-stick and you think you have killed it. After all it has flipped over onto its back with its legs in the air and it isn't moving. You go to get a paper towel or a broom and dustpan to get rid of the bug and when you return it's gone.
Roaches use offense as a means of defense too. Similar to the way a football player plays offense during a ball game. They will face you down and run straight toward you. If you are already squeamish over roaches your reaction might be to turn around and run. Roaches will sometimes fly at you. Usually if a roach flies it has to do more with the weather than you.
Roaches use movement as a defense. By watching you they can tell if they need to run or if they have nothing to worry about. They also watch moving shadows. If you try to slowly creep upon a roach and your shadow passes or stops over it then the roach prepares to run or goes ahead and tries to make an escape.
One of the biggest defenses a roach uses to avoid having to use its other defenses is hiding. They love to hide in cabinets, pantries, clothes, and in-between cracks. They will hide in walls, under the sink and around the water heater. They will even hide under sofa cushions. Anywhere that it's dark and they can hide in the shadows.
An Entomologist said that cockroaches can't see you. Roaches try to avoid air currents: if they sense the wind on their back, they will flee. They will also avoid light, and seek protected nooks. If the closest nook happens to be the shade under your sneakers, they will try to crawl under there because they can't understand that your shoe is a part of you, the big thing that turned on the light and made air currents and vibrations and scary things. It doesn't help that roaches can't always see above them: their heads are protected by their pronotal "shield," so they can see a bit in front of them but little or nothing above them or behind them the way flies do.
