61  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 'I thought I'd found the love of my life': Mother, 38, believes she was infected on: 31-08-2013 03:56 PM
A woman has spoken of her devastation after discovering she caught HIV from an ex-boyfriend.

Sarah Watson, 38, thought she had found the love of her life when she met Ghanaian-born Henry Assumang in 2007.

But less than two years later their relationship broke down. It would be a further year-and-a-half before she would be given the life-shattering news he was HIV-positive.
Sarah Watson

Sarah Watson, 38, thought she had found the love of her life when she met Henry Assumang in 2007. But less than two years later their relationship broke down and she was given the life-shattering news he had HIV

Describing him as a 'gentleman', Ms Watson said that when she initially met Mr Assumang, she hoped he would help look after her family.

'He always made me feel special - he was very complimentary to me and my children,' she said on ITV's This Morning.

'He took an interest in my children and he fitted in well with my family. He was always there to give love and support.'

But the romance was short-lived and a year into the relationship the couple started having, as Ms Watson described it, 'trust-issues'.

The mother-of-two said: 'He started to go out a lot and would turn him phone off.'

Six months later, the couple split, but they stayed on good terms and he still took an active interest in her children.
Mr Assumang

Mr Assumang (pictured) denied he knew he had carried HIV up until he death, earlier this month. He was charged with GBH for passing on the virus but his case didn't go to trial in time

'The virus is rife' Mother-of-two relays shock of hearing she has...
Dr Carole Cooper

Dr Carole Cooper (left), who also appeared on the programme, said: 'If you think you might be at risk then you must get a test - fortunately it's a lot easier to get tested. 'And if you don't want your GP knowing, you can go to a segxwal health clinic where a test won't show up on your medical record'

It wasn't until 2010, when police turned up at Ms Watson's door, that she discovered she had contracted the virus.
IF SARAH HAD FOUND OUT SOONER, SHE MAY HAVE FOUGHT OFF VIRUS...

If a person is exposed to the virus, anti-HIV medication may stop a person becoming infected so long as it is take within 72 hours.

For it to be effective, the medication, called post-exposure prophylaxis or PEP, must be started within 72 hours of coming into contact with the virus.

The quicker PEP is started the better - the longer the wait, the less chance of it being effective.

PEP has been misleadingly popularised as a 'morning-after pill' for HIV.

PEP is a month-long treatment, which has serious side effects and is not guaranteed to work.

The treatment involves taking the same drugs prescribed to people who have tested positive for HIV.

A person can gain access to PEP from hospitals, A&E departments, segxwal health clinics, or genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics.

GPs usually do not provide PEP.

'Police turned up at my house and asked me what my segxwal history was.

'I didn't answer at first and asked why they needed to know.

'They said they had a man waiting to be deported and needed to clarify his relationship history.'

It quickly became apparent that the man in question was Mr Assumang.

Before foreign nationals are deported they are tested for the virus and his test had come back positive.

The former shop worker was told she needed an urgent test and her results were fast-tracked.

The following day it was confirmed she too was HIV-positive.

'It completely turned my world upside,' said Ms Watson. 'I was in shock and couldnt believe it.

'When the viral load test came back it also told me I had just six to nine months to live.'

If a person has contracted HIV it is essential treatment be started immediately, or as soon as possible.

If it is caught within 72 hours of transmission, a person can even fight off the virus.

Ms Watson had however lived with the virus for three years without knowing and needed urgent treatment.

Luckily swift intervention after her shock diagnosis has managed to keep her alive.

Despite the 'news' that Ms Assumang was carrying the virus, Ms Watson believes that he knew for many years that he was HIV-positive.

'He was receiving treatment for the condition in 2006, a year before we met,' she said. 'He was fully aware [he had HIV].'

Mr Assumang denied this up until he death, earlier this month. He was charged with GBH for passing on the virus but his case didn't go to trial in time.

Ms Watson is concerned other women may unknowingly have the virus as he went on to have other relationships - and perhaps even one-night stands - after the couple split.
HIV

It is essential to get early treatment for HIV. A person can visit a segxwal health clinic without their GP knowing. Despite the ease with which people can be tested, only a quarter of those infected with HIV (virus pictured) know they have the disease

Dr Carole Cooper, who also appeared on the programme said: 'This story shows that you really can't tell who has HIV without a test.

'If you think you might be at risk then you must get a test - fortunately it's a lot easier to get tested now.

'And if you don't want your GP knowing you can go to a segxwal health clinic where a test won't show up on your medical records.

'It's essential to get early treatment - you can go to segxwal health clinic without you GP knowing.'

'Despite this, a quarter of those infected with HIV know they have the disease.'

Dr Cooper added that it's important to realise that HIV isn't a death sentence in the way it was in previous years.

Within the past five years, she said, the 'outlook has revolutionised' as there are many new drugs on offer.

'It is so important to have an early dignosis and it can be hard to put up with the drugs as there are some hefty side-effects,' she explained. 'But they are a patient's passport to a healthy life.'

Ms Watson remains worried about her future and said: 'I will find it hard to trust anyone ever again. I live in a very hard situation right now.'

Migraines can cause permanent brain damage, according to new research

Migraines can cause permanent brain damage, new research had claimed.

Experts have discovered that migraines, which affect 10 to 15 per cent of the population, raise the risk of brain lesions, white matter abnormalities and altered brain volume compared to people without the disorder.

The association was even stronger in those with migraine with aura - or when there is a warning sign before the migraine begins.

Study author Dr Messoud Ashina, of the University of Copenhagen, said: 'Traditionally, migraine has been considered a benign disorder without long-term consequences for the brain.

'Our review and meta-analysis study suggests that the disorder may permanently alter brain structure in multiple ways.'

Dr Ashina reviewed 19 studies to see whether people who experienced migraine had an increased risk of brain lesions, silent abnormalities or brain volume changes on MRI brain scans compared to those without the condition.

The results showed that migraine with aura increased the risk of white matter brain lesions by 68 per cent and migraine with no aura increased the risk by 34 per cent, compared to those without migraine.

The risk for brain abnormalities increased by 44 per cent for those with migraine with aura compared to those without aura.

Brain volume changes were also more common in people with migraine and migraine with aura than those with no migraines.

Dr Ashina hopes the study will provide some insight into what lasting effects regular migraines have on the brain.

He said: 'Migraine affects about 10 to 15 percent of the general population and can cause a substantial personal, occupational and social burden.

'We hope that through more study, we can clarify the association of brain structure changes to attack frequency and length of the disease.

'We also want to find out how these lesions may influence brain function.'

Meanwhile another study, also featured in the journal Neurology, backed up previous research which shows that migraines are more common among people who earn less money.

For example, for women age 25 to 34, 20 per cent of those from high-income households had migraine, compared to 29 per cent of those with middle income and 37 per cent of those with low income.

For men in that age range, five per cent in high-income households had migraine, compared to eight per cent in middle income and 13 per cent in low income.

But the new results went against the theory that stress increases the rate of migraine in low-income people.

Researchers found that whilst stress amongst those on a low income can bring migraines on in the first place, it has no effect on how long a person suffers from migraines.

Study author Dr Walter Stewart, with Sutter Health - a not-for-profit health system in Northern California, said: “'New evidence from this study shows that a higher percentage of people have migraine in low income groups because more people get migraine, not because people in lower income groups have migraine for a longer period of time.

'Because the remission rate does not differ by income, it means that the duration of time that people have migraine is not different by income level.

'These results strongly support the theory that stressors associated with lower income play an important role in the relationship between migraine and income.

'Identifying these factors may be a crucial step toward developing prevention strategies.'

Bad habit: Drinking one glass a day from your early teens can increase risk of cancer

Bad habit: Drinking one glass a day from your early teens can increase risk of cancer

Women who drink just one glass of wine a day in their teens and early twenties could be increasing their risk of Bosom  cancer by a third.

Scientists have found that consuming fairly small amounts of alcohol early on in life has harmful effects on Bosom  tissue.

Those who drank the equivalent of one glass of wine a day between the age of their first period and when they gave birth to their first child increased their risk by a third.

US researchers believe that the Bosom  tissue of young women, which is still developing, is highly susceptible to the harmful effects of alcohol.

Although experts have known for some time that alcohol raises the risk of Bosom  cancer, this is one of the first studies to show how it can have an effect so early in life.

Researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis examined the drinking habits of 116,671 women aged 25 to 44.

They were asked to recall how much alcohol they drank a day from the ages of 15 to 17, 18 to 22, and 23 to 30.

They were also told to note down the age when they first started their periods and when – or if – they gave birth to their first child as pregnancy is known to protect against Bosom  cancer. It was also recorded whether they had ever been diagnosed with the condition.

From their answers, the researchers were able to work out roughly how much alcohol the women had drunk per day over the various stages of their lives.

The results showed that women who drank a glass of wine a day between their first period and the age at which they had their first child increased their risk of Bosom  cancer by 34 per cent.

When alcohol is broken down by the body it creates a substance called acetaldehyde, which can trigger genetic mutations in cells that lead to tumours.

It also increases production of oestrogen, the hormone linked to tumour growth.

The researchers, whose study is published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, said: ‘These findings add support to the importance of exposure [to alcohol] between menarche [the first period] and first pregnancy in Bosom  cancer development.

‘Reducing alcohol consumption during this period may be an effective prevention strategy for Bosom  cancer.’

Richard Francis, head of research at Breakthrough Bosom  Cancer, said the link was likely to be caused by Bosom  tissue being particularly susceptible to developing cancer between these key ages.

‘We recommend that women of all ages reduce their alcohol intake in order to help prevent Bosom  cancer,’ he said.

‘Regularly drinking is also associated with a range of other health problems, so we’d urge anyone wanting advice or support on cutting down on alcohol to speak with their doctor.’

Just under 50,000 British women are diagnosed with Bosom  cancer every year and there are around 11,500 deaths annually.

But there is growing evidence that women can drastically lower their risk by adopting healthier lifestyles.

Smoking, obesity, a lack of exercise – as well as alcohol – are all thought to trigger the illness.

Earlier this year scientists warned that excess drinking was behind soaring rates of Bosom  cancer in the under 50s.

According to reports, Ania, who has a serious boyfriend, has already embarked on her mission and has slept with 284 men so far, starting with cities in her home country, Poland.

Anna told the Austrian Times: 'I want men from Poland, Europe and all around the world. I love sex, fun and men. In Poland the subject of sex is still taboo and anyone who wants to fulfill their segxwal fantasies is considered a deviant, a w**** or mentally ill.'

Ania is so determined to complete her task that she's set up a Facebook page and a website to keep people (interested in her exploits) up to date with her sex marathon.

A Nigerian teenager, Oluwaseyi Adelegan, 14, has been murdered by unidentified assailants at his father’s house in Akure.

The deceased is the son of Chief Solomon Adelegan, the National President, Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, Mr Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident to NAN.

“It is obvious the young boy was killed while trying to move out of his bedroom to the sitting room before he eventually gave up,’’ Ogodo said.

Ogodo, who said that no arrest had been made, said that the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

According to him, the information surrounding the death of the young boy is still sketchy, but I assure you that police will get to the root of the crime.

NAN gathered that a group of suspected assassins invaded the home of the Adelegans located at Aduralere Quarters in Ijoka Area of Akure and macheted the boy to death.

According to a source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Oluwaseyi was found in a pool of his blood in his parents’ house.

The source said that deceased was hale and hearty when his siblings left for holiday coaching in the morning and he was the only person left in the house.

“The siblings were surprised to find the dead body of their brother in the sitting room when they returned from school.

“The children raised alarm when they saw their brother, but the young boy was stone dead before their arrival,’’ the source added.

Scores of sympathisers thronged the residence of Adelegan to condole with him on the death of his son.

The bereaved parents were still in shock over the mystery surrounding the death of their son.

Enjoying the trip of a lifetime to Thailand, university student Isabelle Brennan strokes a young tiger at a popular tourist attraction – one of the few places in the world where you can pet the deadly animals while they sleep.

But just minutes after this photo was taken, another 400lb tiger leapt into the frame, knocking the 19-year-old to the ground with its paw and sinking its teeth into her thigh.

She was saved when keepers at the Tiger Temple sanctuary in West Thailand jumped between her and the animal, while her sister and travelling companion Georgie, 21, dragged her to safety.

Eight weeks on, Miss Brennan is recovering at home in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, but cannot walk unaided, while doctors said the four-inch wound will leave her scarred for life.

The University College London student wants to warn others of the dangers of approaching the orphaned tigers, which are hand-reared by Buddhist monks at the controversial sanctuary.

‘As it lunged with its teeth I felt an agonising pain on the inside of my left thigh above my knee. What happened next is a blur.  But a keeper jumped in between myself and the tiger. Then, while the keepers pulled the tiger to stop it attacking me further, my older sister Georgie dragged me under my arms to safety.’

The stunned teenager added: ’When I looked down at my leg it was terrifying. All I could see was blood.’

Two friends in their group immediately tied a tourniquet round Miss Brennan’s leg to stop it bleeding.

Meanwhile, the Human Sciences student who is studying for a degree at University College London was rushed to Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Memorial Hospital where she needed ‘tens of stitches’ to repair the four-inch wound.

She then had to remain in hospital for a fortnight after contracting an infection and high fever.
Her sister, 21, was forced to make the call to parents Margaret and Nick Brennan, 56, an architect.

Mother Margaret Brennan, 52 a former nurse who now runs her own business, said: ‘When Georgie rang the first thing she said was ‘firstly Isabelle’s ok’ but I was very upset. I couldn’t believe it when she said Isabelle had been bitten by a tiger.’

But finally after a gruelling two weeks in hospital – when she was pumped with strong antiobotics - she was well enough to fly back to the UK.

However, Miss Brennan was to spend a month in a wheelchair and on crutches. She is now learning how to walk again.

Eight weeks since the attack, she is still limping and doctors have told her she will have a permanent scar.

Miss Brennan and her sister from Harrogate were in the first week of their trip of a lifetime in Thailand, which they had spent six months saving for, when they visited Tiger Temple.

‘I was nervous about going into the Temple,’ says Miss Brennan, ‘however, I was reassured by the staff that as the tigers had been hand reared, they were so used to humans they were completely tame.

‘They were also tethered by chains and the staff told me no-one had ever been seriously injured.’
After petting some tigers in an enclosure, Miss Brennan – who followed all the Temple rules such as not wearing bright clothes to excite the tigers - decided to go into a special area where she could wash the tigers.

‘We were given a talk beforehand and told not to touch the tiger’s head and to remove dangly jewellery. We were then shown how to wash a tiger’s back.’

It was while Miss Brennan was washing one tiger’s back, it turned round and mauled her.

She says: ‘In hindsight I had an incredibly lucky escape. I could have lost my leg or worse. The Tiger Temple staff were very upset. They paid for all my treatment in hospital and visited every day. They explained the tiger was just being playful. However, I want to warn others going to Tiger Temple that the animals might not be as docile as they first appear.’

It seems Joe Giudice was worried about his legal troubles long before news that he and wife Teresa had been indicted on 39 counts of fraud went public.

In a preview clip of the upcoming episode of their reality show, The Real Housewives Of New Jersey, the couple are seen discussing Joe's biggest fear: going to jail.

Vacationing in Arizona with the rest of the cast, the group participates in an unusual exercise with a horse and his handler, who tells them the animal 'responds to one thing: authenticity'.

1 5 Foods You Should Never Eat Again
When you are trying to get healthy and lose weight, there are certain foods you should avoid. Most of these food are obvious because they contain ingredients that are known to cause weight gain. There are some foods that are not as obvious and can be just as bad for you. These foods are a problem because most people do not know to avoid them and therefore consume them more often then they should. Here are 5 foods that you should never eat again.

White Bread
White bread is a staple in most pantries, but the truth is, it doesn’t have any nutritional value.
White bread contains a lot of sugar and doesn’t have the ability to keep you satisfied.
Even breads that claim to be wheat could contain more sugar than grain and should be avoided.
Substitute your white bread for whole grain or whole wheat bread when possible. You can also substitute bread on your sandwiches with lettuce leaves or whole grain tortillas.

Fried Foods
Most people know that fried foods are not healthy and should be avoided as much as possible.
The problem with fried foods is that many people only associate them with fast food restaurants and do not realize they also consume them at home.
Avoid frying any meal, consider baking or broiling instead. Fried foods are not nutritious and can cause your blood pressure and cholesterol  levels to rise. They can also cause you to pack on the pounds.
 Cream-based Salad Dressings

Many people turn to salads when they are dieting and trying to eat healthy. Salads can be very nutritious and are often low in calories. Salads can become unhealthy when they are covered in cream-based dressings.
These types of dressings contain a lot of fat and calories. In fact, there can be more calories in your salad dressing than in the rest of your entire salad.
Try oil-based salad dressings instead. Not only do they taste lighter, they have less calories and are better for you.
White Rice
small 73906443 5 Foods You Should Never Eat Again
Rice is a common ingredient to many recipes and is a popular side dish to many meals. Most people assume that rice is healthy, but the truth is, white rice can cause your body to store fat when it doesn’t need to. It also has no nutritional value.
Brown rice is the best option when it comes to rice because it is full of fiber, vitamins and nutrients. It will also keep you satisfied longer so you are less likely to overeat.
High Fructose Corn Syrup
There is much debate about whether high fructose corn syrup is good or bad. It can quickly cause you to gain weight and even make you have cravings for more sugar and sugary foods. 71  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Why Men Cheat & Lie To The Woman They Love on: 31-08-2013 11:50 AM
Does YOUR man lie to you even though he says he loves you? According to relationship expert Michael Fiore he does.

Fiore (who’s appeared on the Rachael Ray show as well as countless radio shows and in many magazines) says even “good guys” lie to the woman they love each and every day and it’s not for the reasons she may think.

“So many women think the guys in their lives are either princes or jerks,” says Fiore, “but the truth is more frightening and more complicated than that.”

Mr. Fiore recently put together a controversial video in which he explains the REAL reason your husband or boyfriend lies to you . . . why he CHEATS on you . . . why he doesn’t communicate . . . and many of the other questions that drive you crazy about him and make it impossible to have the relationship you want.

“There’s one simple step to having the relationship of your dreams,” Mr. Fiore says “And that’s truly understanding the mind of your man.”

72  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Another Pastor Accuses Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo Of Adultery on: 31-08-2013 11:42 AM

I'm speechless; I don't know what to say. Read this pastor's exposé on COZA's Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo:

For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
Isaiah 9:16.
They be leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Matt 15:14.

My sole purpose in writing this piece is to open the eyes of the world and believers to the hypocrisy and nonsense behind the pulpit, and to plea that these wolves and blind men stop deflating the faith of people who Christ died for. I am a Pastor, a full time minister at that, and I shall not sit back while the name of my God, the ministry, and the works of other shepherds is brought to disrepute by the activities, action and inaction of a few blind men behind the pulpit.

I was going to be silent on this sad, pathetic but true (in many shades) allegation against Pastor B and his popular and trendy ministry. My silence was borne out of respect for the kingdom of God and things that pertain to God. But all this changed when I heard the horrific tales of people who had been through the mess of this blind man, and the fact that he had no moral motivation to deny or accept the allegation; all he showed on Sunday was a demented swagger and perverse talk.

I am tired of the nonsense of religion crying out, “touch not my anointed”; does this mean we cannot rebuke ourselves when we err, this much Paul did to Peter when he erred in Galatians 2:11 “But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed”. It is therefore pertinent that I rebuke the wolves in shepherd’s clothing’s. It is time to set the record straight, and please don’t sell me the bullocks of judge not, I haven’t said anyone is going to hell, but of course if they don’t change, they have only one path.

It is high time we told the truth, which is plain, simple and without coloration. The stories of Franca and Ese is not only true but they are just a few tales of the tantalizing sex escapades of this clergy. This has been a recurring decimal in the ministry of the clergyman. This wasn’t the first time these stories will come forth, for those old COZA members, for those who were there when he was in Ilorin, when the church moved to Pipeline Road, Ilorin, having left Kwara Hotel, they will remember there was a time when the Pastor was suspended from ministering by his Father in the Lord, Rev Oset of Canaan Ministries. Rev. Oset sent guest ministers to the church every Sunday after that, but still Pastor B in his deceit will still minister in the pretence of introducing the guest minister, while he exhorts for minutes.

I therefore laugh in mockery when He says his wife loves him, the woman has no choice. His core circle of Pastors - Pastpr Wole (Ilorin Chapter, the only man who maybe clean), and Pastor Flo (COZA, Lagos) knows of this fact. Little wonder Ese said Pastor Flo said he knows about their adventures in that hotel room in London.

This is not the story of a hater; I don’t want or envy anything he has. He cannot ever have what I have and carry; neither do I crave for what he has. I am sure no one in the city of Ilorin, where this man started is bemused by these stories, no one who finished from the University of Ilorin during the period of 2003-2008, and was not a blinded COZA member can be mightily shocked at these revelations. I have heard tales of many more victims, I even heard from a woman who knows five friends who were victims, I saw it online the other day of a guy who said he formally works for him and he knows up to 130 people, outrageous as it may sound that too is true.

Rev Oset in true conscience cannot deny the knowledge of these negatives. But we are a nation of hypocrites and religious folks; we ask no questions of leaders, so they can hide under the canopy of religion, even when they are filthy. Anyone who asks is rebuked by those who say, the bible says pray. It is sad that those who say pray themselves have not prayed. But Pastor B is just a decimal in an ever mounting number of wolves in the Church of Christ.

Someone told me yesterday that this can’t be the end of him and his tyranny, because even in Ilorin in those days, the allegation was rolled under the rug. On Sunday, August 25, 2013, the man leading certain blind men under the veil of religion and ‘spiritism’ said God told him not to say anything, he then said they are preparing a robust response. Who is fooling who? We must not keep quiet and watch the bride of Christ, the church, rubbed and undignified in mud and slime by a filthily rich pastor who thinks he can do anything and get away with it.

It is a pity that we run sensational press and media outfit in this country, and that our press is blinded by religion. If this were to be ‘saner’ climes the press would by now be researching, there would by now be investigative journalism. The truth would be dogged up and resurrected to life. For this is not about a mistake that a Pastor made, it is about a filthy man’s way of life.

And then about, “teaching a new level of grace’; please be reminded that Grace is not a license to sin, rather it empowers us to live above sin. Romans 6:1-2 says, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” In my years of being a Christian, studying God’s word, preaching the gospel, listening to sound teachers, I have not heard of a grace that gives permission to sin. Stop being deceived, grace is the new dispensation, according to Hebrew 8:6-12, and under grace we do not follow any written code, law or traditions. That is done away with. The tablet of Moses is over with. But we are not reckless sinners; we are under a new covenant based on better promises. God’s law is written in our minds and hearts. We live according to His dictates. The Holy Spirit and our conscience convicts and judges us respectively. This is the only way we live a holy life. God’s strength and empowerment is the grace to do according to that written by God in our hearts and minds.

I write this with a heavy heart, though I wish I never had to write this, but I pray this madness stops. I know many who have stopped going to church, many whose faith has been derailed by the act of madness of this man, and many blind men like him. If they are not going to heaven, let them stop taking men out of the straight and narrow way. No one understands the pain in meeting a man, whose faith has been derailed by a man who was supposed to help establish him. For such a man, words can’t bring him back, the best we can do is to pray and hope. I indulge the clergy to be of a higher moral standard.

My candid advice to the church at this end time is that the church must grow in knowledge; it’s high time we stopped bamboozling you. You must stop making idols of men. You must stop making men such as I, substitute for the Holy Ghost. Honour us; revere us… but that is where it ends. Without the Call, the Oil, and the Holy Spirit; we are mere mortal. But know for sure that this too shall pass; only the truth of the Gospel of the Kingdom abides forever.

For Pastor B and his sense making COZA people, remember the word of Christ in Matthew 15:14. How many of you even live life bearing the fruit of righteousness. Stop being blind, the ditch is close by. Look into this case, ask your pastor questions, seek genuine answers and not emotional rhetorics, hold him responsible, and do not forget the word of God, “then shall they know if they follow to know…” I am sure evidence abound. Seek to know from some key PCU members (who may need to be deposited in Gods ICU). Its time you hear not only about grace, but HOLINESS without which no one will see the Lord.

Finally don’t bother praying against me, I can say like Paul, “For me to die is gain, to live is Christ”, but I cannot even go now, because I am yet to fully finish the task set before me. Don’t waste your time using misguided scriptural interpretation.

This I write is true, and I am sorry if you don’t like it. Your Pastor, and every other wolf whose conscience is not seared knows it is the complete true.

God bless you.
God bless His Church.
God bless Nigeria.

From Pastor J
God’s House, Abuja.

Alexandra Jane Jackson is the daughter of country singer Alan Jackson.
Alexandra Jane Jackson is the daughter of country singer Alan Jackson.

Country superstar Alan Jackson is famous alright, but that didn't help his 20-year-old daughter, Alexandra, when she was arrested on Wednesday.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Alexandra was charged with assault, underage consumption of alcohol, and resisting arrest during a traffic stop. The 20-year-old was riding shotgun in a Range Rover that a police officer observed was speeding, and when the officer pulled the car over, it was discovered that Alexandra "had consumed a large amount of alcohol."

Police say Alexandra became "visibly irate" while the officer spoke with the driver of the vehicle, and began making demands as she got out of the car.

The officer requested that she return to the vehicle, but according to police that only angered Alexandra more. After being threatened with the possibility of being arrested if she didn't get back inside the car, Alexandra struck the officer in his chest.

When police tried to arrest her and take her into custody, she put up enough of a fight to require the officer to call for backup. Alexandra eventually complied with the arrest, but police say that while she was being booked she "made several statements to the arresting officer" that her dad Alan Jackson "would do anything" she wanted him to do.

Police then warned Alexandra about making or attempting to bribe an officer. She's next due in court on September 23.

As of now, Alan Jackson's reps have no comment.

74  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / See How Naija Students Are Selling Their Sperm In Lagos on: 31-08-2013 11:23 AM

People get married for different reasons. While some seek companionship in marriage, many go into it for the purpose of procreation. For couples who look forward to having children immediately after marriage, being declared ‘infertile’ by experts is like a death sentence.

It is generally agreed that it takes two to have a baby and every couple is expected to be in optimum health to have babies, medical experts claim men are having more fertility challenge now.

Sperm concentration in men is said to have decreased by a third since 1990s while sperm count is said to have decreased by half over the past 50 years.

Studies are also showing genetic abnormalities in sperm particularly in older men. For men therefore, quantity, quality and motility of spermatozoa are seen as important factors in fertility.

Since the male factor is a prominent cause of infertility in couples, sperm donation has become vital in assisted conception treatment.

A study by the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction stated that “a male factor is solely responsible in about 20 per cent of infertile couples and contributory in another 30 to 40 per cent.”

According to experts, even when sperm numbers are great, a high proportion of men may have DNA damage that significantly impairs the chances of natural conception. Besides, male sperm deteriorates with age the same way it does for women.

Studies have also shown that if a man has poor health, smokes, drinks too much or has a bad diet, it’s very likely his sperms are also going to be unhealthy.

Indeed, investigation by PUNCH showed that sperm has become a commodity in high demand in Lagos. The Chief Consultant and Head, Obstetrician and Fertility Department, Eko Hospitals, Dr. Adegbite Ogunmokun, said fertility problem, based on recent experience, had tilted more towards the male factor.

He said, “If 10 couples come in, there will be problem with the male in six of them, using our parameter of 20 million sperm per millimetre. But 10 to 15 years ago, maybe about four out of 10 men would have problem.”

PUNCH correspondents, who visited some fertility centres in Lagos, learnt that more men are having low sperm count, thus necessitating the need for more volunteer donors. But because donors are scare, fertility clinics offer as much as N50,000 to men who are interested in selling their sperm.

They also pay more when sellers have special features that the beneficiaries are looking for.

Like blood sellers, investigations show that many people in Lagos, especially students, now sell their sperms anytime they need money.

A student of the University of Lagos, who identified himself as John, said he had sold sperm to a few fertility centres in Lagos. John said he had been funding his education for the past two years with what he earned from selling his sperm.

John said he was introduced to the programme by a friend and that he had in turn brought in two other friends to ‘business’.

“I’ve sold to a number of fertility centres. The money has really helped me to stay in school. It takes care of my tuition and some other personal needs,” John said, with a measure of satisfaction.

“It’s cool money, really and I’m also doing a service to mankind by helping out some people in need. Even friends that I introduced to it have not turned back since then.”

An employee in a Lagos fertility clinic, who identified himself as Olufunsho, told PUNCH that some women would pay any amount to get a sperm seller with the features they want.

He said, “We pay N50,000 here but there are times when women come in and request that, at all cost, they must get a tall man. The person can earn more when they make such requests, especially if we don’t have any that fits the profile in our bank.

“There was a time a woman came and requested that we get a tall man for her at all cost. I showed her the samples we had, but she did not like the profile. She said she was not satisfied with the heights. And we were unable to get what she wanted from the sellers that came at the time.

“The sellers that came then were either AS, or positive with hepatitis B or had low sperm count. We had up to twelve sellers that came and we were unable to get anybody. In such cases, we could offer a lot more when we find the right person. Sometimes, such people are also in a position to negotiate for what they want.”

However, subsequent drops attract lesser amounts of money for the same seller.

To sell sperm, the person, according to Olufunsho, must stay off sex for five days. He undergoes some tests to confirm that he is not HIV positive and that he also has healthy sperm among others.

He said, “If the same person is still interested and we still need him, he would repeat the screening process again. We pay N10, 000 per ******** for other subsequent ones. With my own discretion, if the quality of the sperm is good and we have somebody who needs something that matches perfectly with that seller, we may reduce the probation period, but the sperm must be very good.

“Although that is the protocol, it could always be amended when there is nothing wrong with the person. Even if someone ejaculates the first time and in twenty minutes time, he does the same, it is still going to be good, but not as good as the first one.”

At the various fertility centres where our correspondents posed as potential sperm seller, the clinic workers made keen attempts to have them start the process immediately, by leaving blood samples for tests.

On one occasion, a clinic worker told one of our correspondents that he was willing to waive the two to five days’ probation period of abstinence, after our correspondent said he wished to “sleep over it.”

The worker said, “What is there to think about? After all, you already said you’re not married. You can leave your blood sample for testing while you go ahead and think over it.”

Investigation showed that fertility centres want sellers between 18 and 45 years of age and expect them to abstain from sex, two to five days before giving sperm sample, depending on the centre.

Other conditions to be met by potential sperm sellers include testing negative to HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C, sickle cell and some other segxwally transmitted diseases. Tests are also carried out to determine the count, morphology (shape) and motility of the sperm cells.

In addition, fertility centres claim to also place a high premium on average intelligence, education and lifestyle. Although PUNCH learnt that such claims are not always true as more emphases are actually placed on height and other physical attributes.

“It is not immediately that we pay. We prefer AA genotype because it can be given to anybody, unlike AS that cannot be given to just anybody,” Olufunsho added.

However, an employee in another fertility clinic in Lagos, Akin, said sperm sellers could get paid within a week of starting the process. This is possible only if they satisfy the conditions.

He said, “If the motility is good, the count is good and you’re okay, then, you can produce for us. If everything is okay, within a week, you can get your money.”

A 2012 study into the reproductive health of 26,600 men in France, warned of a sperm crisis worldwide. It said that sperm concentration has decreased by a third since the 1990s. The study found a continuous 32.2 per cent decrease in sperm concentration over a period of 17 years.

During the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology annual conference in London in July 2013, some experts, critical of the study’s validity, said it did not completely represent the situation in certain areas, particularly the developing world.

However, a fertility expert at Mother’s World Care, Ikeja, Lagos, Dr. Margaret Olusegun, said the situation is similar in Nigeria.

She said, “A man should have a good count, up to 40 to 50 million sperm per millimetre of semen upward. But you find that these days, men have more challenges with fertility than women.

“Although, I don’t have the statistics, men are the ones with more challenges now, even though they are the ones who drive out their wives if they can’t bear children.”

Olusegun explained that good sperm should have “at least 50 per cent motility (activeness) because sperm cells can be active, sluggish or dead.”

“For morphology (shape) too, which could be normal or abnormal, sperm should have upward of 50 per cent normal cells. And there should not be bacteria growth,” she added.

Ogunmokun described low concentration of sperm as “Oligospermia.” He, however, said a sperm count with a minimum lower limit of 20 million sperm per millimetre of semen would still be considered normal. But he added that any sperm concentration of less than 20 million per millimetre of semen could be categorised as mild, moderate or severe oligospermia, depending on the count.

Ogunmokun said fertility problems could be with the man, the woman or the two of them.

PUNCH learnt that the demand for sperm has made the fertility business a lucrative one. Many of the fertility centres in Lagos have facilities for sperm preservation, where it’s freezing costs about N50, 000 per quarter.

Ogunmokun said, “After collection, the semen is processed and seminal fluid and all other things are removed. The sperm is put in little bottles and placed in special containers called dewars, connected to a power source. It is stored at very low temperature and there must be an indicator for monitoring should there be a change in the condition.”

He, however, added that there must be a standby generator in a place like Nigeria, where power supply is unstable, as sperm can be frozen for decades.

“Although, there are many other reasons why people freeze sperm, someone living far away from his wife can decide to freeze his sperm for the wife’s use while he’s away. Also, someone going for cancer treatment can freeze his sperm before starting the treatment since such treatments affect sperm production,” he added.

Ogunmokun said fertility centres focus more on university undergraduates to ensure that sperm donors have a certain degree of intelligence.

He said, “The current practice is to actually recruit sperm donors and the focus is on undergraduates. The focus is on students because they should be able to provide their ID cards so that background checks can be done.”

According to Ogunmokun, the perceived increase in the number of men with low sperm count is as a result of infection and lifestyle habits like sitting for too long and wearing of tight underwear.

He said, “The testes are not supposed to be too close to the body because of the higher body temperature. The testes are naturally colder, so people who travel long distances or sit in traffic for long can be prone to infertility.”

Ogunmokun advised that men should “exercise appropriately, take good nutrition, avoid tight underwear, premarital sex, cigarette and alcohol to try to prevent low sperm count.”

However, Olusegun identified good hygiene as key to the prevention of low sperm count, saying, “Our environment is too contaminated.”

Versatile music producer cum singer, Gabriel Oche-Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, tells BAYO ADETU about his life as a father, career and other issues

What are you working on now?

We are working on my tour of Europe and America. I’m just waiting for my management team to conclude the arrangements. The tour will last for a month and it’s going to be fun.

You recently launched your fourth album in Abuja with a concert. Tell us about it?

The title of the album is Book of Ginger, and it is meant to show the other side of my personality and musical career. It talks more about my new person, my new identity.

How many tracks do you have in the album?

I have 22 tracks in the
•Terry G

•Terry G

. They are pages and chapters that make the album a book.

What inspired Book of Ginger?

Book Of Ginger is an album and a book of life and then it has a lot of pages, chapters and inside this Book of Ginger project, I decided to diversify my talent in terms of changing my style. You people know me for a particular brand so I decided to do a little Rap and Blues which I used to do before and some other styles of music which at the moment is doing good in the market.

Are you changing your style of music?

I’m not changing my style of music; it’s the same way I do the production. Basically, I want to spice my music up a little because I found out that I wasn’t accessible because of the image I portray  and most people see me and get scared because of the kind of song I do. I learnt from what people used to say about me that ‘Terry G is crazy’, so I decided to make a little adjustment to and make myself accessible to people. They will now have it in mind that this is business and I’m acting on prepared scripts.

What informs this decision. Are you feeling threatened in anyway?

I’m a versatile producer. As a leader, when you follow the same pattern, your followers will get tired of you and the reason they are interested in you is because you spice up your job. I don’t see everybody in the industry as a threat to me; neither do I see myself competing with anybody. I have my personal style and brand which has been working for me, and it is not easy for anybody to imitate. I’m unique with my songs, when you hear my songs, you will know it’s mine. So, I never get scared of my colleagues or compete with anybody because I know people like my songs.

You’re one of the most consistent Nigerian artistes. How have you been able to maintain this feat?

In every position we find ourselves in life, we are all learners and the day you stop learning is the day you don’t exist in life. I believe that I’m still a learner, so I put myself in a position of an upcoming artiste because such idea gives me the opportunity to learn from people. At the end of the day it broadens your idea. I still go out to the streets, I still relate with people because my music speaks for the people.

You talked about re-branding your personality and music. Why?

Sometimes you see life changing constantly and sometimes you see it in a different way and platform. I now see much value in my life and the future. When I say my future, it has to do with my kid. Since my son was born, I started changing a lot of things about myself and it actually helped to scare a lot of negative friends from me.

How will you compare your life as a single guy and now that you’re a father?

Being a father has given me a new life, it has made me see the other side of life and it has put me in place because when you are thinking about tomorrow, you will want to be more responsible. It has helped me a lot to compose myself and think of tomorrow and the future.

So, can you encourage your son take after you in music?

Yes, I can, but I want to train him to become a footballer. I was supposed to be a footballer as well. There are lots of talents out there but there are no resources for them to make their dreams come true. In those days, there was little interest in football, and no sponsors. But I believe that with my own platform, my son should be able to do it.

What if he declines?

He will do music. Even as he is growing, he has the idea of music already.

How did you feel the first time you carried him?

I was scared to carry him because I had never carried a baby before. Prior to this time, children were always scared when I wanted to carry them, may be because of my dreads. I was the happiest man in the world when my woman was delivered of a baby boy.

What if it was a female child?

I didn’t want a girl, I really wanted Terry G Junior and God gave me.

How did you meet Mimi, the mother of your child?

It was during my first major performance in London; that was where we met. I met her through a friend, so we just started chatting. She wanted to know more about me. But she was amazed to realize that there’s a difference between Terry G and Gabriel.

Do you have plans to marry her officially?

Yes, we are making plans for that. The right time will come because it’s not just about getting married. When it’s time, we will.

What happened to House of Ginger, the group you formed some years back?

House of Ginger is a household name. It is a musical group created by me and I personally disbanded the group, though it never faded away. I think I wasn’t really capable of managing the group. I wasn’t that strong financially and I was just like a solo man -no sponsor, so it was quite hectic. I just had to dissolve the group and face other things. I have passion for House of Ginger, but whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well.

Black Jesus: Chopped to dearh

Black Jesus: Chopped to dearh

An infamous cult leader known as “Black Jesus”, who was suspected of cannibalism, has been chopped to death in a remote Papua New Guinea village, reports said Friday.

According to AFP, Steven Tari, a convicted rapist, had been on the run since escaping from a prison in Madang in the Pacific nation’s east during a mass break-out with 48 others in March.

Madang police chief Sylvester Kalaut said that Tari and one of his followers were killed at a village about 20 kilometres (12 miles) outside Madang on Thursday as they were attacking a young woman.

“He is now dead and this could be the fate of the others who are also on the run from authorities and I am warning and strongly urging those escapees to surrender themselves to authorities,” Kalaut told the PNG Post-Courier.

Tari, a failed Lutheran pastor who was widely known as Black Jesus, was found guilty in 2010 of molesting girls who belonged to his Christian-based sect and sentenced to up to 10 years.

At the time, he had thousands of village followers, including a core of armed warriors to protect him, in what is commonly referred to in PNG as a “cargo cult”.

As part of his “culture ministry”, he preached that young girls were to be “married” to him as it was God’s prophecy.

Kalaut said the woman Tari was in the process of attacking was “a flower girl tricked into joining the cult”, adding that angry villagers had surrounded him and his companion and killed them.

His death follows that of a young high-school girl about a week ago — a murder alleged to have been carried out by Tari.

When he was captured in 2007, there were widespread allegations that his cult also practised cannibalism and sacrificial blood rituals, but police only charged him with rape.

PNG is a sprawling nation where black magic, sorcery and cannibalism sometimes occur.

Last year, police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their penises.

Wizkid

Wizkid

Ayodeji Balogun famously known as Wizkid hit stardom about two years ago after he was groomed by RnB star, Banky W, and subsequently signed on to the star’s label, Empire Mates Entertainment. His debut album shot him to super highway with mega shows and gigs coming his way. But after the young star joined the club of the rich and famous, he began to exhibit traits of waywardness in his lifestyle.

Balancing his new-found fame and keeping a grip on reality is becoming too difficult for Wizkid. He first showed his negative side through a direct attack on some journalists on Twitter last year August in a statement also believed to be targeted at GOOD Music star, D’Banj in the heat of Mo’Hits Records split.

Even after that, the young star continued to spiral out of control when he went on Twitter on 1 February to announce his displeasure with his label.

Wizkid tweeted: “Moving on to start all over again!…phyuk it!…Don’t take loyalty for stupidity..don’t!” Though he didn’t explain the reason for his outburst then, not many fans thought the artist was just fooling around then.

While many fans were yet to get over the reports of Wizkid throwing a bottle at a guy in a bar for “not behaving properly”, last week, he showed the other side of him again when he lashed out at one of his fans on twitter for attempting to correct his bad English.

Wizkid had posted a photograph on his Instagram page and noted that he was supposed to perform at a wedding but had erroneously typed ‘About to perform at this wedding with an hangover! Jah Guide!’.

This led to a particular fan with Twitterhandle @spruzman to send a reply: ‘Correct urself man… see d reason why you should go back to school. Lol’

But the fan’s advice didn’t go down well with Wizkid. And his harsh response that “Broke people always think they have an opinion” to the fan on his Instagram page also elicited more retaliatory tweets from angry fans.

The incident has now resulted in a pile of insults on the singer who some described as ‘proud and spoilt brat’ even though some of his ardent fans have solidly stood behind him.

Some celebs are fun to rag on because they are so ridiculous that you can’t help but love them. Then there are others who are so vapid they just suck the life out of you and it pains you that they are probably making more in a year than you will in your entire lifetime. That is that category where Nollywood actress and wannabe crooner Tonto Dikeh belongs. She is a darling to controversies.

In June, Tonto had posted photographs of a wrap of hemp and some of the weed formed into the letters, “Happy birthday POKO.”

She also posted a photograph of herself and added the inscription: “Mi smoke ganja mi smoke weed while my hatez smoke ma gossip.” The close-up picture depicted Tonto in a high state.

Tonto took her bizarre behaviour to a rather dangerous state the following week in June at the O2 Arena in London during Iyanya’s Kukere UK Concert. The actress was said to have got so drunk, staggered and fell several times on stage.

The concert, which she was expected to co-host alongside comedian Eddie Kadi, ran into a hitch when Tonto kept screaming and staggering, telling the crowd how big she is, about her armpit which she said was unshaved and other meaningless chatter until she eventually fell right there on stage. As if that was not enough, as she was getting back on her feet, her boobs popped out before she quickly got hold of herself. And the next minute the MC had to escort her off stage when the crowd booed her.

To some of her critics, she is a product of more hype than talent. She has neither starred in any movie that stands out nor has she won or got nomination in any serious award. Also, her recourse to playing music has turned out to be a major disaster, which was only salvaged when she did a collaboration with another controversial singer, Terry G.

COSSY ORJIAKOR
Cossy Orjiakor

Cossy Orjiakor

This pseudo-celebrity cannot just be ignored. It is hard these days not to feel sorry for this lady, in spite of her famous and well-documented infamous antics. She is a usual suspect when it comes to controversies and waywardness. Her whole career is built around controversies.

The boobs-flaunting actress and singer always has a punch to land on her fans’ faces and the media world. She has decided to live and breathe segxwality, and has in fact found it difficult to present herself in a conscientious manner.

Her obvious unique selling point is her super-sized natural endowment, which she displays all the time and this has fortuitously become her passport to stardom. She started off as a go-go dancer in Fuji music star, Abass Obesere’s music videos. After a few display, she started getting a few roles in the movie world where she mainly flaunts her massive boobs that almost pop out of her clothes.

In January, she was thought to be going nuts when she posted a near Nood picture of herself as her new Blackberry Display Picture.

Some weeks ago, a video went viral of Eedris Abdulkareem and Cossy  getting freaky as they did ‘dry humping’ on stage during a fashion show that took place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

LIZ Da SILVA

This is not your typical A-list celebrity, but this pretty Yoruba actress has an iconoclastic attitude that many find not worthy of being proud of. Her private life, especially as it concerns romance.

Liz has admitted to be dating several men and even had an introduction ceremony with one of them. But some months back, the rumour of her pregnancy filtered out with names of some popular socialites including road transport chieftain MC Oluomo and UK based-businessman Akeem Sodiq featuring prominently.

“The father of my child is not anyone’s problem. People should leave me alone…Why are they after the father of my baby? I have not gone to anybody to beg for the child’s upkeep so what is their business?” she retorted as she slammed those who sought to know the father of her baby.

Recently, a photograph of the actress surfaced with her holding a séx toy.

BRYMO
Brymo

Brymo

Many have asked if fast rising pop artiste, Ashimi  Ibrahim Olawale, better known as Brymo, is only craving for attention with stories swirling around his exit plan from his label, Chocolate City. But whatever assumption it may be, singer and hook master, Brymo has lately exhibited certain unbecoming behaviour which became a source of worry to his label: an open advertisement of marijuana.

This act by Brymo was said to have cost the company some gigs with clients complaining of the artiste’s shameful use of the weed.

Brymo was asked by the label to remove the tweet with the picture but he refused. Rather, he went to same Twitter to announce his exit from Chocolate City.

DAVIDO

If one assumes that Davido, son of a Nigerian billionaire, is acting a spoilt brat, it may be true. This is because of his past and recent actions which he unabashedly posted on social media.

Last year, in a country where millions of his fans struggle to make a living, Davido posted a Zenith Bank pay cheque of N10 million on Twitter and called it a change.

Although he later apologized after the heat became too much for him to bear over such unnecessary show-off, he repeated the action again some weeks back with raw bundles of naira posted on Twitter.

Davido has also had to contend with lots of segxwally related issues around his person. He was sometime involved in a ‘tweet-scandal’ involving a young girl called Sonia. The girl had posted several obscene pictures of herself and the young singer on the bed while Davido was asleep and half naked.

Merotiwon  was not only beaten up, Peter allegedly used a spanner  to break his right hand and inflicted inujries on  his face.

79  Forum / The Buzz Central / MAKE IT STOP: Kanye West REPORTEDLY Taps Miley Cyrus For "Black Skinhead" Remix on: 29-08-2013 09:33 PM
 photo kanyemiley_zps076dea6c.jpg

It doesn't matter why someone is all over the news these days, it just matters if they are.  Because folks will hop on the bandwagon and try to grab up some of that shine while it lasts.  Enter Kanye West and his reported Black Skinhead remix...with Miley Cyrus....

Page Six is reporting that Miley skipped out on her own VMAs afterparty at No. 8....after her Nood panties tragedy of a performance....to hit up the studio with Mr. West.  And supposedly, they're working on a remix to 'Ye's single "Black Skinhead."

Since Miley has said she wants to "feel black" and delve into the culture....whatever her interpretation of "the culture" is....it's no surprise she would take Kanye up on his offer.  The former Disney chick is going after anything and everything "provocative" these days.  By any means necessary.

Reportedly, the collabo will appear on a Yeezus Remix EP due out later this year.

Kanye and his love of trashy white chicks continues....

The actress was an ‘eccentric’ child and is an ‘irritatingly’ optimistic adult. But when you’ve been in the spotlight as long as she has you’re bound to have a few little quirks – like tapping the plane three times before getting on…
'I'm often really happy, despite the exhaustion of having a young baby. I'm irritatingly optimistic regardless of what's going on in my life. I am resolutely a glass-half-full girl,' said Sienna Miller

What is your earliest memory?

It’s of my father’s shoe. It was a 1980s-style trainer with a big letter ‘N’ on the side and we were in the hallway of our house, I think. I distinctly remember the vantage point from which I was looking at it, which was obviously very low to the ground.
What sort of child were you?

I was extroverted and loud and friendly. I was apparently quite eccentric too, and there’s one story that has gone down in family folklore. I went to boarding school when I was eight, which is quite young, so you were allowed to take a pet with you as company. I took my pet rabbit, and another girl, Ali, had a rabbit too. Well, they got on and I wondered what would happen if I put them together, and they ended up mating. I bred, quite by accident, five bunnies, one of whom went on to be a prize-winning rabbit by complete coincidence.
Tell us a secret about yourself

I have to sleep on the left side of the bed – I just have to, and if I don’t it feels weird. I’m quite superstitious. When I get onto a plane I have to kiss my hand three times and tap the plane three times. If I didn’t do that and the plane went down I’d know it was my fault. My father actually grabbed my hand once and refused to let me do it to prove a point, and we went through the worst turbulence that either of us has ever experienced, and I looked at him and thought, ‘See, I knew this would happen!’

'I grew up in front of the world - my 20s were documented by the national press - so I'm disappointed looking back at my naivety,' said Sienna

What do you dream about?

I had a really, really, really weird dream recently. I was in a field and I was running towards an enormous black-and-red jumper – it must have been at least 50ft wide. I then looked round and there were tons of other people running after this same jumper, all desperate to get hold of it. I couldn’t figure out why, but then I remembered – in the dream – that it was Dennis the Menace Day. As soon as I thought that, the dream cut – like in a film – to me on ballet pointe shoes, waterskiing on a lake. I woke up laughing my head off.
When did you last feel really happy?

Yesterday. I was in Italy and having lunch with a group of friends overlooking a beautiful Tuscan valley, and it was one of those moments where you feel completely at ease and surrounded by people you love. I’m often really happy, though, despite the exhaustion of having a young baby – my daughter Marlowe recently turned one. I’m irritatingly optimistic regardless of what’s going on in my life. I am resolutely a glass-half-full girl.
What has been your biggest achievement?

There are a few. I’ve been able to work and support myself since I was 18 years old. I got nominated for both a Golden Globe and a Bafta this year for The Girl, which was a huge achievement. I’ve managed to retain every friendship since I was ten years old. And finally, I’ve remained sane. I feel like I’ve pretty much remained the same person throughout everything I’ve been through, and that’s an achievement I’m proud of.
…and your biggest disappointment?

I grew up in front of the world – my 20s were documented by the national press – so I’m disappointed looking back at my naivety. However, I think anyone who had a camera pointed at them as much as I did during their 20s would probably say and do the same things.

What has been your biggest achievement? 'There are a few... I got nominated for both a Golden Globe and a Bafta this year for The Girl, which was a huge achievement,' she said

What are you best at and what would you like to be better at?

I’m best at making people feel comfortable. I would love to be better at concentrating and at languages. My attention span is pretty limited and I’d love to be able to focus more.
Who would you like to say sorry to and why?

There is someone, but I’d like to say it to their face, and I haven’t had a chance yet.
What is your best character trait?

I can laugh at myself, which happens all the time. I have to; I don’t have a choice. I have the ability to not take myself too seriously, which I think has kept me quite steadfast through this world that I’m in.
…and your worst?

I can be very hard on myself and self-critical and insecure. I can also be quite hedonistic. Now I have a kid, sometimes I miss that – it’s one of the hard parts about parenting, but that’s the sacrifice you make. And then you go into their bedroom at six o’clock in the morning and see this little face, and it’s worth it.
What is your biggest fear?

People I love dying. It’s not a tangible fear, but my greatest fear in life would be losing people that I love. That would be the depth of all misery.
What is the worst thing anyone has said to you?

I have had some truly terrible things said to me by the paparazzi in the past – I can remember one particularly terrible thing one of them said to me, but if it’s immortalised in print then he wins, and I will not allow that.
How would you like to be remembered?

I’d be happy to be forgotten, to be honest – having a child has made me think of that. But if I have to be, then I suppose I’d want to be remembered as kind and a good friend.
