Dr Sanjay Shah said: ‘They had sustained 90 to 95 per cent burns to their bodies. They were in a critical condition. We tried to save them but in the end we couldn’t do enough. Seven persons were crushed to death at the Upper Iweka axis in the commercial city of Onitsha when a petrol tanker, a truck belonging to Dangote Group and another carrying 40 feet container crashed in the city.
Saturday Sun gathered that the first tanker lorry with registration number, XG 613 AKR had failed brake opposite the Toronto hospital along Onitsha-Asaba Expressway, crushing people especially motorists along the ever busy Upper Iweka area.
However as the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC were still busy evacuating the bodies, a trailer lorry carrying a 40 feet container with registration number XA353 GGU and another trailer carrying Dangote Cement also had failed brakes and crushed other road users.
The first incident claimed the lives of two men and a woman who were on their way home after the day’s job while the second and third incidents claimed the lives of a commercial motorcyclist and his passengers whose bodies were mauled beyond recognition.
Narrating his experience, a survivor of the second accident in a vehicle with registration number DL486ENU who pleaded anonymity said his escape was miraculous since the trailers lost brakes and were busy crushing their victims from the Toronto hospital to the foot of the Upper Iweka fly-over.
“I was coming back from my office, am a lawyer, when I got to Upper Iweka, I saw a terrible traffic gridlock, I was told that a tanker lorry failed brake and crushed people at the area. I also noticed that vehicles were parked along the road, suddenly as I was still at the traffic gridlock, I heard frightening sound, before I could know what was happening, two trailers carrying container and cement had lost brakes and started crushing people”
He further stated “I could not jump out of my car because I was like a person glued until I heard a great bang and I thought I was dead, it was people that came and brought me out, but up till now, I can’t really say what happened to me but everybody that saw me come out of the car told me to thank my God”
Another eyewitness who gave his name as Dozie Okonkwo, a bus conductor said that the only woman that died in the incident was a daily money collector who had closed for the day and was on her way back to her home at Old Road, Onitsha.
“She came to enter our bus, I told her that the price was N70, she jumped out because she wanted a cheaper one, not quite long, the incident happened, when we rushed there, she was already crushed, her body was already crushed, it was only her cloth that some people used to recognize her, her flesh was scattered all over the place”
However the first tanker lorry was said to be coming from a filling station where it had dispensed its product in the commercial city of Onitsha and was on its way to Port Harcourt when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle, skidded off the road and crushed people.
The Onitsha Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Mr. Anthony Meta could not comment on the incident as he refused to pick his calls. An officer who did not want his name in print confirmed the incident and said he personally led his team to deposit the bodies of the victims in the mortuary and took the injured persons to Toronto Hospital for medical attention.

A Zvishavane man died last Tuesday morning at a Bulawayo hospital in a suspected case of runyoka which saw his manhood elongating to knee-level after he allegedly has s*x with a headman's wife.
The now deceased, whose name could not be ascertained by the time of going to press, is believed to be from Chief Mazvihwa's area in Zvishavane, Midlands Province.
The man's mysterious condition reportedly sent shivers down the spines of some patients, visitors and hospital staff at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH). He was reportedly crying and writhing in agony, and died before receiving medical attention.
A source from the hospital said before the deceased took his last breath, he had confessed that he had been having s*x with a headman's wife who is suspected to have been 'fenced' by her husband.
The mysterious 'central locking system' is popularly known as runyoka. It is traditionally regarded as a safety lock applied on both men and women to enforce fidelity.
It is said that a person fences his or her spouse so that they do not have s*xual relations with other people. Indulging in s*xual intercourse with a 'locked' person often results in inexplicable illness that normally leads to death. However, some sources who are family with traditional charms have claimed to "Zimbabwe Latest News" that if one uses a condom while having s*x with a 'locked' person, the juju usually won't work.
"There was drama on the day that he got admitted to the hospital as people jostled to catch a glimpse of his 'stretched hosepipe'. Nurses ran around trying to assist him but unfortunately he died before they attended to him. Even nurses who tried to assist him before he died said his ailment was an issue with circumstances that they could not really comprehend in medical terms," said a source who requested anonymity.
"Before he died he confessed that he slept with a headman's wife and was regretting that he failed to take heed of his relatives advice who warned him to stay away from the woman. Nurses tried to assist him by putting ice blocks to make his organ flaccid but it couldn't help," added the source.
UBH Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Nonhlanhla Ndlovu, could not be reached for comment, but nurses at the hospital confirmed the incident.

The notorious Hon. Evans Bipi, the Rivers State lawmaker leading the campaign to remove Governor Rotimi Amaechi from office to please the Presidency, despite their denials, has exposed his sponsor(s).
This same Hon Bipi, .com observed, was caught on tape describing to some thugs how he gave Hon Chidi Lyoyd and others deadly punches, before one of his aide shouted: "Hey stop the recording!" This goes to show that Bipi lacks the basics to be a lawmaker in any ideal society.
Anyway, in his latest unguarded outburst, Hon Bipi said: He is fighting Governor Amaechi because the governor “insulted” the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, who he said is his Jesus Christ on earth.
“Why must he be insulting my mother, my Jesus Christ on earth?” Mr. Bipi asked the fellow who apparently hugged him to restrain him from further violence.
When asked for explanations, Hon Bipi told Premium Times that the first lady is indeed his Jesus Christ on earth. “I have no mother, I have no father. She (Mrs. Jonathan) is my mother,” he said.
Mr. Bipi, believed to be a cousin of the first lady, explained that he “lived” with her for several years. He said he could not bear the governor insulting the president and the most important woman in his life.
Meanwhile, the Rivers State government has dared Hon Bipi and his sponsors to provide evidence of any kind where Governor Amaechi ever insulting President Jonathan or his wife.

Corruption is reportedly so systemic in Zimbabwe, one of Africa’s poorest countries, that a local hospital charges pregnant women $5(N800) every time they scream while giving birth.
The new report from Transparency International on corruption around the world says the penalty was for “raising false alarm.” but clearly aimed at separating mothers from their money.
Women who can’t afford the high fees are sometimes detained at the hospital and charged interest until their family can pay up. As a result, many Zimbabwean mothers give birth at home because they can’t afford the charges.
This is a country, according to United Nations reports, that on average, eight mothers die during childbirth every single day!

The management of MAGiKAL Entertainment wishes to inform the general public that it has decided to terminate the management contract it has with Nigerian rap act Mojisola Serah Sowole aka Cocolce due to some irreconcilable differences as learnt by .com.
Without going into full details, we decided to terminate the contract since the act has reneged on some of the terms of the initial agreement (both written and verbal) which has led our organization to incur so much loss running into millions of Naira...
Our investigation has shown that the artiste went ahead to sign a recording contract deal with a record label without our knowledge, a move that was contrary to the "gentleman's" agreement we had with her on the issue of record label deals.
For close to a year, MAGiKAL Entertainment invested heavily in her, promoted the rap artiste songs ("If U Don't Know (video), "It's Me" and "Rock Me") and actually shot one of the best music videos in Nigeria for her ("It's Me"), and built her into a household name.
Her action was a complete betrayal of trust. We therefore wish to use this opportunity to thank all the members of the industry especially our colleagues in the media for all their support while this partnership lasted.

Al-Mustapha was released yesterday Friday July 12th after many years in prison, and his first port of call after his release was T.B Joshua's place. T.B Joshua explains why Al-Mustapha visited him first:

I got to know him many years ago when a petition was addressed to General Bamaiyi who was the then Chairman of the NDLEA. As you know, several efforts had been made by my detractors to bring me and my ministry down. One of those efforts was that petition. I was arrested for investigation and it was later discovered that it was a tissue of lies. I spent nine days with them for investigation and they found the whole thing to be a fabrication. From there, I was taken to Aso Rock (City of Power) to see the president. It was there that I met Mustapha. I was able to reveal to them who I am by telling them what was to come as a prophet. One of those things I mentioned to them and to Mustapha in particular, was what he went through, though he did not believe me then. That was why when it came to pass, I was the first person he remembered. I told him that he would spend several years in prison and would be finally released which no one else had ever told him.

Villagers who thought they had found a dead ALIEN were disappointed when an expert said it was really a mummified baboon.
This mysterious creature caused an internet storm after it was discovered near Nature's Valley, South Africa. Residents hailed the corpse — with spindly grey limbs, shrivelled head and oversized gnashers — as proof extraterrestrials had lived on earth.
Others claimed it was a weird cross-breed between a seal and a monkey.
But now a local veterinary surgeon says she has solved the riddle following an autopsy.
Dr Magdalena Braum said: “It was a newborn female baboon, with umbilical cord still attached to her body.
“It was most likely killed by the bite through her scull soon after birth, possibly infanticide, which is very common in some primate species when a new male takes over the troop."
