Many develop countries have come to the terms that they have no choice than to live with the different segxwality like the gays and lesbians.

Many countries in Africa still frown at it as against nature.  If you are a father and your son comes to you to disclose that he is gay, what would you do? This is the question many African parents ask themselves and till now there has been no positive answers.

Michael Ighodaro is a gay from Benin City who ran away from Nigeria due to the threats he received and attacks he had from unknown people. His parents as well as his siblings disowned him.

In the video below, he revealed he misses his family and wishes that in the future, they get to understand that whatever he is today, is his choice..

2  Forum / Politics / President Jonathan seeks immunity for African leaders from ICC prosecution on: 13-10-2013 05:27 AM
Nigeria said it is ‘disappointed’ with the ICC over African affairs.

Nigeria’s President, Goodluck Jonathan, has called for an amendment of the laws governing the International Criminal Court, ICC, to allow serving African leaders to enjoy immunity from prosecution for war crimes, genocide, and war against humanity.

Two serving African presidents, Sudan and Kenya, have been accused of war crimes by the ICC.

Mr. Jonathan stated this on Saturday in an address at the Extraordinary Session of African Union Heads of State and Government, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Our (Nigeria’s) position is that certain Articles of the Rome Statute are of grave concern to Africa. In particular, Article 27 which denies immunity to all persons without regard to customary international law, conventions and established norms, must be amended.”

Nollywood veteran actor Mr. Olukayode Odumosu, nationally renowned by his stage name, Pa Kasunmu, is on the verge of completely losing his sight, memory and mobility due to a debilitating heart disease and partial stroke.

PA KASUMUThe unfortunate news came to public prominence recently on the social media when his children took to Facebook to make a short appeal to charitable members of the public to help save the financially-challenged actor from the ravages of heart and liver disease- a malaise he has battled with since 2009.

During an exclusive interview with Friday Flavour at his Mushin-Lagos residence, the 60-year-old Pa Kasunmu showed visible signs of ill-health– his barely audible voice trembled and he suffered shortness of breath.

“When the sickness started, it was actually moving towards my kidney, but the doctors in LUTH (Lagos University Teaching Hospital) were able to arrest that. Later, I started battling with partial stroke. Now, what I’m trying to prevent is the secondary stroke and apart from that, I’m gradually losing my sight already and I can’t walk well”, Odumosu explained.

Asked why he was coming out at this time to let Nigerians know about this ailment, he said; “My state of health has now reached a chronic stage that I can no longer handle alone, that’s why. I have been with LUTH since 2009 and I have spent a lot of money; over N4 million personally. I have sold two plots of my land and my BMW car. Although I have my family’s support, which I’m happy about, but right now I have no money anymore and my family has also done a lot.

AIB in its preliminary report on the accident presented to journalists in Abuja said that investigations revealed that the aircraft was already faulty before the cockpit crew decided to embark on the journey.

According to the report, the captain in command, Captain Abdulraham Yakubu, insisted that the crew must continue with the journey even when the co-pilot suggested that the flight should be aborted.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), yesterday accused the Federal Government of implementing the “No Work, No Pay” rule, even as there are  indications that the National Universities Commission (NUC)  had issued a directive to university governing councils to stop the salaries of the striking lecturers.

Speaking shortly after the zonal conference of the union held at the Gwgwalada campus of the University of Abuja to review the ongoing strike, ASUU Zonal Chairman, Clement Chup said his colleagues were yet to receive their September salary.

He explained that members have begun implementing a welfare scheme to cushion the effects of government’s latest action. Part of the strategy, he said, is distribution of food items, giving out soft loans and cash advances to lecturers.

Commission says Tukur-led NWC is the authentic leadership of the ruling PDP

Baraje and TukurThe Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday turned down the request by the Kawu Baraje faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to recognise its National Working Committee, NWC, as the authentic leadership of the ruling party.

The Commission, in a letter dated October 2, to the factional National Secretary, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, said it would not withdraw recognition of the National Working Committee, NWC, led by Bamanga Tukur, as the authentic leadership of the party because it monitored the conventions that produced it.

The faction had, in two separate letters, dated September 1 and 23, requested INEC to recognize its own NWC as the authentic leadership of the party.

The faction had emerged last August 31 when a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and five governors left the party’s National Convention at Eagle Square, Abuja in protest.

A man, who claimed to be the pastor of Prayer Mountain Ministries, Lagos, Olusola Adewunmi, has been accused of aggravated assault against his lover, Queen Ujiatolor, in the Onipanu area of Lagos State. Although not legally married, the couple are said to have two children together. Their five-year relationship is said to have been fraught with domestic violence. When PUNCH Metro visited the victim in a hospital, her legs and hands were bandaged while she was also placed on drip. She said, “I met Adewunmi in 2009; he had just returned from Pakistan where he was said to have served a prison term. He told me he was a changed man and a pastor; I believed him. “Soon after, we had a marriage introduction and our two families met and subsequently, we started living together. “However, months into the relationship, he started beating me. Sometimes, he would use a belt or any object he found. After the beating, I would report to his parents and they would come begging me to forgive him.” The victim alleged that even during pregnancy, Adewunmi did not stop the beating. Ujiatolor said she was driven out of their home six months after she had put to bed.  A member of Adewunmi’s church allegedly took her place as the pastor’s new lover. She said a year later, in 2012, the pastor came back to her for reconciliation and promised to wed her legally. However, this was not to be as the physical violence allegedly continued. Ujiatolor claimed to have sustained a fracture in the process and was rushed to Regina Mundi Hospital, Mushin in Lagos. The victim said their relationship got worse when the pastor told her that she must change her last name but she refused because they had not done a proper wedding. She was forced to move out of the home after the birth of the second child in May 2013. Things allegedly took a turn for the worse on September 22, when Adewunmi forcefully abducted one of their children in her absence. She said, “On that day, I was at a seminar in Ilupeju when he called me on the telephone, calling me a prostitute. He told me he had taken our older daughter and that I would never see her again. So, I went to his church and attempted to take her away. He hit me from behind and pushed me into a glass door. After he saw the extent of my injuries, he fled.” The doctor, Gani Yahaya, said the victim sustained lacerations on her calf muscle and had splinters of glass in her wounds. PUNCH Metro learnt that the incident was reported at the Alakara Police Division and later transferred to the Area D Command. A non-governmental organisation, Project Alert on Violence Against Women, which took over Ujiatolor’s case, called on the police to take the case seriously. The Director, Dr. Josephine Effa-Chukwuma, said, “We are appalled at the situation and no one should condone any form of domestic abuse. The police should also take the matter seriously rather than regarding it as a family affair.” When contacted on the phone, Adewunmi said, “I cannot tell you if it is true or a lie. I have no comment and I don’t want to get involved in press matter.” The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, confirmed that the matter had been reported to the police and investigations were ongoing.
