41  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Nigeria Notorious Armed Robbers, Godogodo, K Money, Nwanyim Uche Beg For Amnesty on: 30-09-2013 10:43 AM
There was a mild drama at the office of the Lagos State Police Commissioner in Ikeja on Friday as three suspects, who were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, were paraded before the House Committee on Police Affairs.

The suspects, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Godogodo; Felix Sunday, aka K Money; and Nwanyim Uche; pleaded for amnesty.

Godogodo had been described by the police as the most wanted criminal in the South West for the past 10 years. He told the lawmakers that he had built six houses from his loot and never kept money in the bank in order not to be traced by security agents.

He said, “I never drank, womanised or attended social events. Such vices made one vulnerable and made it easy for the police to find and arrest you. I had no friends. I never kept money; I used all of it to build the houses.

MAKURDI—No fewer than 33 persons were feared dead in a fresh outbreak of fighting between suspected Fulani herdsmen and native farmers in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Fulani Herdsmen Vanguard gathered from eyewitnesses that the crisis, which erupted Saturday and lasted till yesterday, some of the victims burnt beyond recognition. It also led to the burning down of over 30 houses and huts, including several farmlands and fish ponds owned by the natives. According to the source, “the Fulani herdsmen had invaded Ojantele, Okpagabi and Ibadan in Agatu council on Saturday, killing close to 10 people.

“From there, they ambushed about three people from Agatu, who were going to a neighbouring villages in Apa Local Government Area of the state and slaughtered them in cold blood.” The unwarranted killing and destruction of houses, huts and farms prompted a reprisal attack on Sunday at the Fulani settlement in a boarder village between Apa and Agatu, where a free for all ensued leading to the death of many more people.

“The development has led to villagers living at the border of both Apa and Agatu councils fleeing their abode and taking refuge in neighouring towns and villages for fear of being killed by the mercenaries, who have taken over the fighting.”

Contrary to his public image as a fearless, arrogant and brutal individual, leader of a notorious gang of kidnappers that had held sway in the entire Niger Delta region until recently, Kelvin Ibruvwe, is actually a “weakling” a reliable source in the State Security Service (SSS) has revealed.

Confronted with the grim prospect of being brought to justice, the gang leader, who only a few days ago while addressing a gathering of his kinsmen at his native town of Kokori in Delta State, gave President Goodluck Jonathan a 60-day ultimatum to address the degradation of his native land and other communities in the Niger Delta or face grave consequences, was humbled as he feared for his life and pleaded withlaw enforcement agents not to kill him.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said that Kelvin, who was brought to Abuja for interrogation, had made substantial revelations.

“Kelvin has made useful and shocking statements which cannot be released to the public now,” the source said.

“I think Nigerians, especially the media, will have the opportunity either on Monday or anytime next week.

21-Year-Old Son Gets Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder

NIGERIAN-ACCOUNTANT Tolu KalejaiyeA son was today arrested on suspicion of murder after his mother was found dead in their home.

Police were called to a large £350,000 four-bedroom property in Wickford, Essex, at about 10am where they discovered the body of a woman named locally as 46-year-old accountant Tolu Kalejaiye.

Her son, who is aged 21, was arrested shortly after and remained in custody tonight. Neighbours said they had been told the mother was stabbed to death, but it was not confirmed how she died.

More than 10 of Mrs Kalejaiye’s friends and family stood in tears this afternoon outside the family home, which remained cordoned off whilst a team of forensic officers worked inside the property.

Michael Day, 57, her neighbour on the quiet road, said: ‘I left my house at just gone 9.30am and when I came back 10 minutes later, there was all this commotion.

‘People were running around on the grass outside on their phones and it was all very chaotic. Police cars were quickly on the scene and then the police helicopter was overhead.’

Though the front building of the embassy seems to be a bit attractive, wait until you get into the compound before you understand what deceiving is about.

In the compound is what the embassy calls "white house". A building set aside to attend to thousands of Nigerians. It is like a kiosk where Mallams sell petty things in Lagos.

Inside the white house is just one room, with some chairs, less than 20 arranged and a big table for the officers to sit and attend to various problems. Though it is a white  house, the population inhale carbon dioxide instead of oxygen from themselves since there is no room for ventilation and the air condition is unable to take care of the population.

White house is situated outside the fence to deprive Nigerians from coming into the main compound.  Though it is a Nigerian house, it is more or less mainly for the diplomat who only allows Nigerians to come into the compound for passport snapping and other petty things.

47  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Muslim Beauty Pageant Is Satanic, Unislmaic – Nigerian Muslims on: 28-09-2013 11:23 AM
A cross section of Nigerian Muslims have berated organisers and participants in the Muslim Miss World beauty pageant incidentally won by a Nigerian, Miss Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola, a student of the University of Lagos.

All of those who bared their mind in today’s edition of Vanguard newspaper condemned the pageant held in Indonesia on September 18, describing it variously as a show of shame and un-Islamic and warning of heavy consequences from Allah for both the organisers and participants in the competition. In a major article on the issue entitled “Miss Muslimah World: A rash invention”, Ishola Balogun wrote:

“I listened and watched with amazement comments from people who tagged themselves liberal Muslims rationalising the show of shame in Indonesia last week where a Nigerian Muslim Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola was crowned the Miss Muslimah World. More stupefying is that those who ought to know and point out where the organisers of the pageant goofed and where the pageant is antithetical to Islam rather chose to celebrate it. Very unfortunate.

“Woman, as taught by Islam since the light of Islam, is a precious and most valuable being. She is to be protected, honoured, treasured and valued. And like a treasure, her beauty should be respected, hidden for the purpose of her security and safety so as not to be exposed to abuses by unworthy eyes and lustful minds.

Though i am of the opinion that the beauty pageant organised by the Muslim and named it World Muslim beauty pageant was of the same inferiority complex and regular negative challenges from them. But with this revelation of Nigeria Muslims, my heart beat that this Aishah, the winner of the pageant needs protection as they have claimed it is against their religion and a sin to Allah. You know what that means right? Follow the link below to read the details

48  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I want to use human head for bullet proof charm – Man confesses on: 28-09-2013 10:23 AM
The authorities of Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State heaved a sigh of relief on Friday, September 20 when the mystery behind the headless corpses they usually picked in communities under the local government was resolved with the arrest of Seyi Akinrinola when he when to pick a human head he hung on a tree in the bush at Igbo-Oloyin area, Ibadan, Oyo State. Also arrested was Ajitoni Ogundeji whom Akinrinola claimed prompted his search for a head.

On that day, policemen did a lot of work to contain the large crowd which besieged Ojoo division of Oyo State Police Command to catch a glimpse of the human head and the suspects in possession of it. Despite the odour from the decomposed head, the crowd stayed put, as many more rushed to join as soon the news spread to them.

The head was obviously that of a female. The flesh around had eaten off, except for a little which was at the back, and to which the few strands of hair that remained were attached.

50  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / VIDEO: Nigerian lawmakers issue #OurNass accountability outdated payslip on: 28-09-2013 06:37 AM
Nigerian lawmakers on Thursday gave youth groups protesting the lack of transparency in their remuneration system outdated pay slip containing no new information.

Hundreds of young Nigerians, who networked through social media, stormed the National Assembly demanding answers to five key questions management of the assembly had refused to answer through freedom of information requests.

They were denied entrance to the National Assembly protest ground.

They were rather restricted to the outer gate of the National Assembly where four senators met and addressed them.

The senate team that addressed the protesters was led by the senate spokesman, Enyinaya Abaribe (PDP Abia state).

In response to the scathing criticism of lawmakers for earning outrageous salaries and allowances in a country where majority live on less than a dollar per day, Mr. Abaribe promised the protesters he would make his pay slip available to the public, if they wanted.

“We have no reason to tell lies,” he said. “If you want my pay slip, you can come and get it.”

When the documents were sent out, the protesters were stunned to find Mr. Abaribe issued them a January 2010 pay slip containing only earnings apportioned by the Revenue Mobilization And Fiscal Commission.

The pay slip captured the legally permissible N1.4 million monthly salary of an average senator, but left out the contentious quarterly allowances, sitting allowances, and other allowances the lawmakers receive, which are the main reasons for the protest.

56  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Sex scandal: Oshiomhole gets N25 for damages on: 25-09-2013 05:13 PM
A High Court sitting in Benin City, today, 25th Sept. 2013, awarded N25m damages for a libelous publication in favour of Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State against Dockland Communications Limited, publishers of News of the People magazine.

In suit no B/556/2011 Justice Efe Ikponmwonba ruled that Dockland Communications failed to prove the veracity of a libelous headline “Oshiomhole’s sex power exposed: Impregnates young girl six months after death of wife”, and a story on page 19 of its magazine published in 2011.

The Governor had taken Dockland Communications Limited, publishers of "News of the People"to court after failing to retract the said story and meet the conditions of apologizing to him as contained in a letter to them by his lawyers, Ken Mozia and Associates.

Oshiomhole who asked the court to award him N250 million in damages maintained that the defendant, among other things, falsely wrote that he bought a jeep for the said girl whom he was alleged to have impregnated and that he was interfering in the academic activities of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, on behalf of the girl; that he used segxwal performance enhancement drugs and that he had performed traditional marriage rites precedent to a marriage between him and the said girl.

During trial, the Governor had under cross-examination said “I am a public officer, and as you have rightly pointed out as a Governor, what I do or fail to do is important. My character is important and people’s opinion of my personal life is important. My children are still in agony. The magazine published this just a few months after my wife passed away and this publication coincided with my daughter’s wedding. A Governor whom I invited for the wedding asked me if I was the one going to wed or my daughter. Your image as a public officer is very important.

57  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / EXCLUSIVE: Obasanjo’s sister owns Apo building where squatters were killed on: 25-09-2013 03:02 PM
The unfinished building where security forces killed at least seven squatters Friday, September 20, in the Apo neighbourhood of Abuja, belongs to Mrs. Adunni Oluwole Salisu, believed to be the sister to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, our correspondent investigation has revealed.

Documents from the Abuja Geographical Information Systems (AGIS) shows that the property, located at No. 8 Bamanga Tukur Street, Gudu District, near the Gudu cemetery, belongs to Mrs. Salisu.

Ownership details of property OG247326, point unmistakably to Mrs. Salisu’s land rights, but neither her, nor the former president, could be reached for comment; although authoritative family sources confirmed the ownership and the relationship.

The Gudu killings have pitched the Nigerian human rights community against anti-terrorist campaigners in a bitter debate about the threshold of caution that security forces on anti-terror missions ought to uphold where the insurgency is generally armed, and have demonstrated maximum capability for ruthless murder and violence.

Soldiers and SSS officials, spurred by intelligence reports that a sleeper cell of  Boko Haram insurgents, embedded in the Gudu neighbourhood, were about to strike again in Abuja, pre-emtorily stormed the building inhabited by squatters, mostly tricycles drivers, petty traders and artisans, in the early hours of Friday, killing at least seven and leaving several injured.

A spokesman for the tricycle association angrily lambasted security officials on  Channels TV, in an interview Monday, claiming that “because two or three Boko Haram people were in the building offers no excuse to kill innocent people.”

Security forces have been in anxious alert after the Boko Haram insurgents scored a string of deadly success in missions that targeted This Day newspaper office, the United Nations office, the Force Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, and the Anti-Robbery Squad headquarters of the Police-  all in Abuja. The sect has also visited punishing attacks on neighbourhood churches killing scores of worshipers.

Several major roads and streets of Benin City, capital of Edo state in southern Nigeria were Monday flooded following a heavy down pour that lasted for over fifteen hours. Homes were also flooded and scores of cars that attempted to wade through the water-logged roads were abandoned.

The rain which started at about 2 am and continued till about 6pm when this report was filed, paralyses all forms of business activities in some areas in the city, forcing many people to stayed indoors.

Even the deep roadside and underground drainage constructed in several parts of the city could not contain the attendant flow of water. Roadside drainage were overflown as a result of the intensity of the rain, turning several roads to rivers with high current. Among the roads seriously affected by the flood were Uselu-Ugbowo Road, Sapele Road and Dumez Road.

Many residents were seen erecting emergency barriers in their premises under the rain to prevent the resultant flood from overrunning their houses, while others were seen bailing the flood water from their houses. Heavy rain also affected the western Nigerian city of Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

59  Forum / Politics / Boko Haram, area government is being blackmailed- Jonathan on: 23-09-2013 06:19 PM
New York – President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday in New York urged politician to put the nation’s interest first in all their activities to ensure progress and speedy development of the country

Janathan made the remark at a meeting with Nigerian living in the U.S.

“Politicians should consider the interest of the country first before their own and as patriots they should not burn the building down because as stakeholders they have the interest of living there.

Jonathan said the constitution provides for a four year term and a maximum of eight years term limit for elected executive office holders in the country.

The president noted that the governors like other executive office holders have an eight years limit, explaining that at the end of an election, the elected person or persons should be given the opportunity to do the work assigned to them by the constitution.

“You must allow the person that emerges to work,’’ he said, ’

He, however, stressed that a situation where some voters did not vote for the winner or winners should not give them the  impetus to impede the work of the administration in power.

“You must allow the person that emerges to do work in an atmosphere of peace for the growth of the country,’’ the said,

On security, Jonathan said that before now, the major security challenge facing the nation was armed robbery, but that with time terrorism had emerged as the major challenge taking the nation by surprise.

60  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / How To End Boko Haram Insurgence on: 23-09-2013 06:20 AM
Battling Boko Haram has been the most difficult challenge Nigeria is confronting in the later times. The name Boko Haram is similar to a feared illness, and gives people restless night especially those living in the North.

Nigeria government is applying a system which demonstrated insufficient. It is like cutting the branch of a tree, leaving the root and stem which makes the tree to re-sprout without a moment's hesitation. Boko Haram is a perplexing group and has given rise to diverse  terrorist groups since the government have been unable to carry justice to the individuals who began it.

How do we truly need to check this threat?

1. Boko Haram sponsors: A terrorist group like Boko Haram can't works completely without  sponsors some of which are the eager government officials who are covering up under the umbrella to accomplish their political objectives by going after whoever is against them. It is horrifying that as of right now, the legislature is even now acting like as though they don't know the group's supporters.

A few governors, senators have been linked with Boko Haram, and these people are as of now walking around without arraignment. The supporters are responsible for arms supplies and other different things they require, like building a camp, feedings, and getting vital information etc. In the event that the legislature address these backers, Boko Haram will be defenseless.
