121  Forum / The Buzz Central / Hilarious: See Nigerian Soldiers Dancing Kukere on: 24-08-2013 01:30 AM
If you'll permit me to narrate Kukere dance, this is what I'll say:
Kukere is a local dance in Nigeria. I don't even know how to describe this. Ok, I'll try.... right leg at the back, bend your waist forward, adjust right buttocks, making sure that right feet isn't touching the ground.... yes the shoulder too, moving in the direction of the right leg; and vise versa... I don try jor.

In fact, this dance has gone more than viral. And that's what those soldiers are refreshing themselves with. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, so they say. Lol!  Grin Grin Cool

Well that's what they are saying. A source said popular Alaba marketer, Uba Pacific has bought the rights for Burna boy's L.I.F.E album for N10m.

Though Uba felt reluctant paying such an amount for a musician who just started, he feels so much relaxed now after selling 40,000 copies of the album the first day alone, a source said. Uba pacific is one of the few
marketers who pay artistes well.
123  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Identical Twins Charged With Rape! DNA Couldn't Prove Who Committed the Crime on: 24-08-2013 12:01 AM

Mohammed and Aftab Asghar, 22, were both arrested after DNA evidence was found at the scene which provided a possible link to one, or both, the brothers. Since identical twins come from the same fertilised egg, they have the same DNA.
Police investigated after a girl aged 17 claimed she was attacked in a park near Reading, Berks, on Guy Fawkes Night 2011. Detectives decided to charge both men. Prosecutors have now requested more time to continue investigating lines of inquiry which may lead to only one of the brothers facing trial.

Prosecutor Sandra Beck told Reading crown court: “It is an unusual case. They are identical twins. The allegation is one of rape.
“There is further work due and there is an indication which would tend to support that one was not at the location.’’

No further details were revealed about the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence.
Even though identical twins are born with the same DNA, scientists have discovered that tiny genetic changes can occur to cells early in development, allowing for differences as twins grow older.

126  Forum / The Buzz Central / She’s Here! See Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Baby North on: 23-08-2013 08:30 PM

The wait is over! Kanye West may have a reputation for being many things, but it turns out being proud father trumps them all. The 36-year-old new dad joined Kris Jenner for the season finale of her talk show, "Kris," and brought a big surprise with him: a precious photo of baby North.

Squashing rumors that he and Kim were withholding the pictures of their new daughter until they received a high enough offer from a magazine to publish them, Kanye insisted they "have not tried to put anything in a magazine." He then went on to announce that he would be sharing a snapshot of their bundle-of-joy because he was sick of being followed by paparazzi gunning to get the first look since she was born on June 15.
And the picture did not disappoint. In the shot, North lies on her stomach in a black onesie staring straight at the camera. She has big, almond-shaped eyes, tan skin, and a full head of hair — and it's pretty undeniable that she is a beauty.

"I pray that she looks like her mother," Kanye quipped as the audience cooed over the gorgeous little one. For her part, Kris declared that North has Kim's eyes, Kanye's cheeks, and lips that are a blend between the two.

Kanye, beaming like a proud parent, explained that having a child has strengthened his bond with Kim even further. "It's brought us closer because there is someone more important than us to us for the first time," he mused.

Not that they weren't already close before. Recalling his courtship of Kim, Kanye said it was "definitely" love at first sight when they met many years ago before adding, "I was in love with her before I even got to talk to her."
Kanye also confessed that becoming a father gave him a new perspective on a moment that has made him infamous, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.
"The last thing I would want to happen to my daughter is some crazy drunk black guy in a leather shirt to come up and cut her off at an awards show," the rapper admitted. "That's the last thing I'd want."
Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, doesn't it?

The Medical Director of City Convalescent Clinic, Mr. Okereke has committed suicide in his home in Ketu. The body of the deceased was found by his wife dangling from the ceiling fan in one of the rooms of their two-storey building, which also houses a clinic. The reason why he took his life could not be ascertained as he did not leave any suicide note behind.
A neighbor of the deceased said  they woke up this morning and  heard people wailing from the clinic and when they got there the wife of the deceased, who wept uncontrollably, narrated how she discovered the lifeless body of her late husband hanging from the ceiling this morning.
Disu said from what he gathered from the widow, they both slept together in one of their rooms but when she noticed that the deceased was no longer with her, she decided to check in the vacant rooms. Disu stated further that the wife, while wailing, said she couldn’t phantom why her middle-aged husband would decide to commit suicide.
The wife of the deceased is yet to come to terms with the reality that her husband is no more. From what she said, her late husband left her in their room. And after waiting for a while, she decided to look for her husband only for her to find the lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan in an adjoining room

131  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Lagos rescues 25 children from alleged trafficker on: 23-08-2013 04:48 PM

Lagos State Government has rescued 25 children from an alleged child trafficker in the Egbeda area of the state.
It was learnt that the suspected trafficker, Mrs. Rosemary Nwachukwu, was also arrested and had been handed over to the Alausa Police Division, while the children were currently in government’s custody.
The government accused Nwachukwu of operating an illegal orphanage named, Saint Stephen Charity Foundation, on Abiodun Adebanbo Street, Egbeda.
It was gathered that officials from the Office of Youth and Social Department, led by the Director, Child Development, Mrs. Alaba Fadairo, in conjunction with ersonnel from the Office of Public Defender and policemen, stormed the orphanage on Saturday.
The government said findings showed that the suspect was using the orphanage as a front for another illegal business.
The Director, OPD, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, said of the children, whose ages ranged from three months to 12 years, were victims of human trafficking.
Rotimi said, “It was discovered upon investigation that Nwachukwu trafficked 27 children and kept them in a room. We were able to rescue three infants of ages three to six months and 22 other children. Efforts are still on to locate the remaining two.”
The OPD director added that the suspect used the victims for financial gains by putting them up for adoption. She said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations had been concluded.
However, Fadairo, said, “Investigation also shows that there are no records of each child and no evidence of how the children got to her orphanage. No police or security report.”
Fadairo urged members of the public to be vigilant and report suspicious orphanages to the appropriate authorities.  She said some of the orphanages might be  fronts for human trafficking.
She said, “People and organisations that operated unapproved orphanages will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.”
But Nwachukwu said she had been running the orphanage for 18 years, adding that it was purely on charity basis, and without financial gain.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said Nwachukwu was in police custody and would be charged to court on Friday (today).
She said, “We found out that she registered as a charity and thus not qualified to run an orphanage. She will be taken to court on Friday (today).”

It was claimed that Prophet Ireti Ajanaku resurrected  but this may have been a false attempt to keep his memory alive by some of his church members.
The Prophet, Tope Alabi estranged spiritual father has already been confirmed dead and the Oro traditional worshippers have conducted a funeral rite for the late pastor.

According to a report, Oro Worshippers held funeral rites for Prophet Ajanaku. The late founder and spiritual leader of the Christ Revival Victory Chapel International, Pastor Elijah Iretiola Ajanaku belonged to the Oro cult in his lifetime.
Residents of Ikola Odunsi, where Ajanaku lived before he breathed his last on Saturday evening at Gbongan in Osun State, were surprised early Tuesday morning when Oro masquerades went to town in funeral rites for the departed ‘Pastor’.
The funeral rites which began at about 12.30am ended between 3 and 4am.
The Oro worshippers chanted the name of Ajanaku throughout the night. The worshippers marched through the streets of Ikola Odunsi, Ikola Gbenaje, and landed at the deceased’s street, Folarin Williams Close.
They were chanting, “Ajanaku lo, o di gbere”, meaning “Ajanaku is gone forever, adieu”.

Ailing music producer OJB Jezreel a few days ago gave back to the society by donating N200, 000 to Hearts of Gold Children Hospice situated in Surulere, Lagos state.
The money was part of the amount he raised for his kidney transplant.
The popular Nigerian producer, who has recently been in the news soliciting the sum of $100,000 to undergo a kidney surgery in India, also received a financial lifeline from the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
In an interview with Entertainment Rave Newspapers, the producer opened up on the lessons learnt and other issues.

Read excerpts from the interview below:

How do you see life now?
I see life more from a spiritual point of view, in the sense that I believe whether we like it or not, there are forces that are making things happen and I thank God that these forces have made it happen for me. I now see life from a bigger picture, I believe life is not about the Naira and Kobo, I see life from the strict sense.

What are the thoughts going through your mind during this period?
I was worried at the initial stage, I was worried about going public and raising the fund, but I believe it was all destined to be like this. A lot of things have come out of it also. Apart from the fact that we’ve been able to raise the fund, we’ve also been able to remind the people of the role OJB has played in the Nigerian music of today.

Do you think it achieved anything positive for you?
The major thing it has done for me is that the name OJB became popular. The name is now on everyone’s lips, even those that were not born at the time we were making music happen, that alone is a great score.

Out of the thoughts going through your mind before the money was raised, which one scares you most?
What scared me most during that time is death, not just personally but because you get worried about what you will leave behind, your children, family and all that. You don’t know what will happen to them and that gets me worried and also a lot of things you are yet to achieve, so all that gets you worried and scared.

How did you quench that thought of death?
The way I quench the thought of death was when I looked out and saw the amount of people praying for me that I should live, that was enough motivation to try and survive.

What were the best words of encouragement you got?
The best words of encouragement were when people were praying for me. Most of the time I read the messages, I tried as much as possible to reply them even from the sick bed. Those words encourage me a lot and the fact that the whole of Nigeria actually stood up for me was really encouraging. I don’t know what else can be as awesome as that, even a hit song is not as awesome as that. Nothing compares to that, so the people has really kept me going.

What lesson has this situation taught you?
What this situation has taught me is that don’t underestimate what God can do and don’t underestimate what can happen. I’m a very private person and have been trying to raise the money myself for two to three years. I have been battling with it until it came to a head. I was underestimating the reactions of people if I actually come out for help, but have learnt not to underestimate people now. You will be amazed to see how many people that truly love you and that is what I got to see.

What were the earliest signs?
It started with high blood pressure, loss of appetite and general weakness. Those were the major signs.

What would be your best line of advice now?
Whatever it is that you desire in your heart, you should never give up because I didn’t give up and God did it for me. And when I travel for my surgery, I will come back by God’s grace with good news. Nobody should give up on any situation.

138  Forum / The Buzz Central / 2 Abuja Students Jailed for Stealing Smartphones on: 22-08-2013 12:02 PM

Two students resident in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja, have brought their educational journey to a screeching halt after being convicted of theft.

Paul Emmanuel, 18, and Mustapha Abubakar, 23, were on August 22, 2013, Wednesday, convicted by an Abuja Magistrate Court seating at Life-Camp and sentenced to three months in prison for stealing an iPhone and BlackBerry cell-phones valued at N265,000.

The magistrate, Alhaji Abdulateef Abolaji, sentenced them after they pleaded guilty to the two counts of joint act and theft. Abolaji, however, gave them an option to pay a fine of N3,000 each.

“They confessed to stealing the cell phones and have not given sufficient cause why they should not be convicted. They have to serve the jail term or pay the fine to serve as a deterrence to others like them,” he reportedly said.

Abolaji warned the convicts to desist from a life of crime, saying that the court would not be lenient with them if they appeared again for any criminal offence. Earlier, the police prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Idi, told the court that the convicts stole the cell-phones, belonging to Alhaji Musa Abdulrahim of Maitama, Abuja on Aug. 15.

He said that the two convicts pretended to be assisting Abdulrahim, whose car fell into a ditch when they stole the phones.

The prosecutor said that the convicts were arrested by the police and they confessed to committing the crime upon interrogation. Idi said that the two phones were later recovered from them.

140  Forum / Relationships & Romance / SHOCHING: Prison Break Actor Wentworth Miller Is A Gay on: 22-08-2013 06:27 AM

Who would have thought it? Anyone surprised he's gay? Wentworth, who played the lead character Michael Scofield in Prison Break came out as a gay man yesterday August 21 via an open letter to the Saint Petersburg Film Festival, rejecting an invitation to attend a premiere there because of Russia's recently-passed anti-gay laws.

The 41-year-old actor wrote:
Thank you for your kind invitation. As someone who has enjoyed visiting Russia in the past and can also claim a degree of Russian ancestry, it would make me happy to say yes. However, as a gay man, I must decline.

I am deeply troubled by the current attitude toward and treatment of gay men and women by the Russian government. The situation is in no way acceptable, and I cannot in good conscience participate in a celebratory occasion hosted by a country where people like myself are being systematically denied their basic right to live and love openly. Perhaps, when and if circumstances improve, I'll be free to make a different choice.
Until then. Wentworth Miller
