Rihanna seemed to let all her guard down as she partied ferociously at the Crop Over festival in Barbados.
The singer took to the Barbados carnival scene with aplomb, partying through to the early hours of Saturday morning in the island’s capital Bridgetown.
And the 25-year-old singer looked typically striking in a nearly sheer white monokini, decorated with sparkling metallic panels.
Green face paint, blue and silver sunglasses, practical baseball boots and a white veil over her new short curly hairdo completed the look. The star clutched a drink in one hand as she grinded behind several other partygoers at The Foreday Morning Jam party.

At one point, she also showed off the backless detail of her ensemble, getting down on all fours for some kind of breakdance move.
The bash, which took place on the street, began at midnight and ended at 6am, with Rihanna seemingly in it for the long haul.’Woke up in paint and a veil from partying in de street all morning!!! #Barbados #FOREDAYmorning CROP OVA almost here!’ she wrote on her Twitter on Saturday after her night out.
However, there was time for recovery for the singer, who tweeted that she was back to work, taking part in a new cover shoot – ‘Glam starts now,’ she wrote.

266  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / The hotel in Onitsha where 2 human heads were allegedly discovered on: 5-08-2013 04:18 AM
This is the popular hotel in Onitsha that was demolished by the Anambra State government last week after two human skulls were allegedly discovered inside. The hotel, called Upper Class Hotel, is located at 8 Old Market Road, Onitsha and is owned by business man, Mr Bonaventure Mokwe.
The human skulls, a male and a female head, were discovered after the Nigerian police raided the hotel following a tip off. Mr Mokwe has been arrested along with 10 other people. Continue...
His wife, Mrs Nkiru Mokwe, a lawyer, has appealed to president Jonathan to save her husband's life claiming he was set up. She said the whole thing was a set up and the human heads planted in the hotel by people who wanted to destroy her husband.
“My husband is being detained in a very dehumanising condition at SARS, Awkuzu, and the police have denied him access to his lawyer and relations." She said "My husband’s hotel at No 8, Old Market Road, Onitsha which he inherited from his father, Chief G.C Mokwe, has been demolished"
She said her husband was a real estate magnate and there were lots of conflicts over ownership of lands between him and some people which led to his attempted assassination in 2009. She also alleged that the state government was planning to demolish other properties belonging to Mr Mokwe and begged for intervention.

267  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / RCCG Convention: Over 5,000 Policemen, Others To Ensure Security, Traffic Flow on: 5-08-2013 04:04 AM
THE Ogun State command of the Nigeria Police Force has agreed to deploy over 5,000 policemen to complete the efforts of a detachment of Federal Road Safety Corps members as well as officers and men of the Nigeria’s Security and Civil Defence Corps to provide needed security as the Redeemed Christian Church of God begins its annual convention today.
A source close to the church revealed  last night that participants who are coming for any of the programmes only need to obey instructions of the officers, some of whom will be drawn from Lagos State.

According to the source, the church on its own has mobi-lised thousands of its workers to maintain law and order in and around the Camp as well as the Lagos-Ibadan Express-way throughout the period of the convention, noting that the Ogun State Command had already established a division in the fast growing city.
Asked if the facilities in the Camp would be enough to cater for the needs of huge number of persons expected during the programme, the source said between last year and today, the church had built several additional facilities for the comfort of participants.
For instance, three additional water stations have been established in the last one year, toilets and more facilities have been put in place, “but honestly, with the rate of expansion in the church, there is no way we can provide adequate facilities.”

The source also assured motorists of the safety of their ve-hicles because the church has provided between 12 and 13 car parks in and around the Camp. Seven of the car parks can accommodate a minimum of 20,000 cars each and they are manned by the competent security operatives.
“Despite these efforts by the church, as at Thursday during the Ministers’ Conference, accommodation problem had started rearing its head. Therefore, I enjoin all those who want to attend the programme to come early to avoid last minute desperation to enter the Cmp,” the source told our reporter.
Also speaking on facilities in the camp, the Camp manager, Pastor A. F. Elufowoju said everything is set for a smooth take-off of the convention, noting that the church generates its electricity. “New things have been put in place since last year’s convention,” he stated.

268  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / SHOCKING: 21-Yr-Old Slaughters 8-Yr-Old Boy, Plucks Out Eyes For Rituals on: 5-08-2013 03:40 AM
The police in Plateau State have arrested a 21-year-old man who slaughtered an eight-year-old boy and removed his eyes for ritual purposes.

Parading the suspect and his accomplices before journalists in Jos, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe, said the incident occurred in February at Shwar village in Kanke Local Government Area.
Tacha Tali was said to have waylaid Goltona Salihu, strangulated him and used a knife to remove his eyes.
The commissioner stated that the father of the boy, Salihu, reported the matter to the police, saying that the decomposing body of his son, who had left to graze cows, was found with the eyes missing by a search party, which was organised after the boy failed to return home.He said on July 26, Tacha was arrested with dry human eyes and subsequently confessed, in the course of interrogation, that the body parts belonged to Goltona.
The suspect, according to the commissioner, also named his co-conspirators, two of whom are herbalists.

Tacha revealde in an interview that he handed the eyes to the herbalists, Kulime Nangkum and Tapyitda, to prepare a disappearing charm and the items, that is, the eyes, were returned to him after the necessary rites were performed on them.

The police also arrested seven suspected members of an armed robbery gang, some of whom were undergraduate students.

According to Olakpe, the suspected robbers, who had terrorized Jos residents for some time, were arrested through a combined effort of the police and other security agencies in the state, as well as members of the public.
Items recovered from the suspects, he said, included eight live ammunition, five cartridges, a knife, two televisions, a home theatre and two laptops.

Former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to late Gen Sanni Abacha, Maj. Hamza Al-Mustapha, Saturday afternoon paid a thank you visit to retired Controller of Prison, in charge of Kirikiri prison, Mr. Iorbee Ihiagh in Makurdi.
photo
It was gathered that Mr. Ihiagh was in charge of the Kirikiri prison when Al-mustapha was an inmate at the detention facility in Lagos.
The retired Prison officer was also reported to have refused releasing the former CSO to the military authorities on allegation of his involvement in a coup d’état from the prison.
That singular action led to the detention of the Prison officer for two years by the then military administration.
Speaking to journalist on why the Maj. Al-Mustapha chose to visit him in Makurdi, few days after his release from prison, Mr. Ihiagh said it could be in appreciation of what I did at the time he was in detension.
According to him, “At the time Maj. Mustapha was in detention at Kirikiri, I was the head of the facility, it was at the time when there was an allegation of coup d’état and the then Army Chief, Gen. Andrew Azazi requested that Maj. Mustapha be released to the military for questioning on his role in the plot.
“But as a trained prison officer, I declined their request on the ground that there request was not accompanied by a  reproduction warrant which was a prerequisite for such demands; though I risked my carrier but it was the right thing to do.
“And because I insisted that the right thing must be done, considering that if anything had happened to him without proper documentation for his release I would been held responsible, the authorities at the time relieved me of my job and detained me for two years.
“Luckily, after two years, I was released from detention and my rank restored, Mustahpa was privy to all my travials at the time, that is perhaps why, as a God fearing man, he has come to appreciate me for doing my job as a patriotic Nigerian.”
Attempts to talk to Maj. Al-Mustapha failed as he insisted that he would not talk or grant any interviews to journalists.
Meantime, the former CSO who was accompanied on the trip by a large entourage including Mohammed Abacha, son of former Head of State, Gen. Sanni Abacha, were led by their host, to Jato Akaa, some five hours drive from Makurdi, the home town of former Minister for Steel, Wantaregh Paul Unongo Mohamed Abacha, where they would pay homage to the elder statesman.

I am not sure of the exact reasons why the Lagos State Government would take such step against the people. But I’m not surprised, judging by the pedigree and past radical deeds of the state government. Although the move could be a precautionary measure to make the environment look beautiful, but the state must consider that the people have rights which should not be trampled upon and not just issue out laws and
expect everyone to succumb to them.
Some people make a living in dry cleaning business. With the directive, where will they dry these clothes after washing them? No matter how clean they want Lagos to be, banning the spreading of clothes outside is not the way to go about it.
The government must state in clear terms why people shouldn’t spread their clothes outside. They are just dishing out random decrees and making citizens suffer. I feel it’s not just democratic of the government.

274  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Revealed: Prostitution Runs In Abuja on: 4-08-2013 07:40 AM
After visiting several locations known to be red-light districts, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) through its secretary for social development, Mrs Blessing Onuh, announced a “total ban” on próstitution throughout the nation’s capital city.

A 48-hour ultimatum was issued for all women of easy virtue to vacate the city and quit the job “because they constitute a nuisance in the city”. She added a fatwa on their male patrons who ruined “some of the girls [who] are under-aged”.
Other severe measures were lined up; security agencies actually combed some of the red-light districts and made several arrests. But rather than the scourge abating, it appears undying like the proverbial phoenix.Próstitution in Abuja has metamorphosed from the conventional sedentary practice in local brothels to a sophisticated cartel of “runs babes” and the corporate realm.
The “executive” type now holds in many luxury hotels in the Abuja metropolis and the exquisite homes of the super-rich. Notorious spots include Port Harcourt Crescent, off Gimbiya Street, Garki; Adetokunbo Ademola Crescent and Sheraton Junction in Wuse II; and virtually all the discotheques. Even in poor neighbourhoods like Nyanyan, Mararaba and Gwagwa, little girls have joined the illicit trade.

They parade a horde of half-unclad girls and women of various ages and sizes brazenly exposing themselves, while openly and desperately beckoning on motorists and passers-by to pick them for the night. They insult, poke rude jokes and pour vituperation on those who look at them scornfully or ignore them.Indeed, for Abuja’s affluent and powerful men, it has become commonplace to place order for these women on the street or import them from other states and even from far-flung countries in the Caribbean and Asian countries.
High-society social, political functions are incomplete without a harem of these shadowy women. The import of these is that the upsurge requires a holistic framework to be able to deal with this seemingly intractable scourge.

Although the focus is typically on the females, no heteroséxual próstitutes exist without willing male companions ready to pay the price for their services. Blamed for the resurgence of this social vice are the lack of job opportunities, the lack of education, and other socio-economic issues such as low self-esteem or psychosis.

The flourishing religious centres have provided no succour either. Since the menace is defying these stereotypes – for example, a former minister once confessed that our tertiary institutions were churning out more prostitutes than career-ready graduates — education and religion must be tweaked towards combating it. Parents, civil society and the traditional institutions should embrace family values and expose those who flaunt illicit wealth and inculcate the right ethos in the adolescents to discourage the evil act.

Most importantly, the government should provide jobs, encourage entrepreneurship and provide an enabling environment for the realisation of opportunities and sense of self-worth. Our young daughters and sisters must be discouraged from selling their bodies to filthy and immoral men who have nothing but money, HIV/AIDS and other venereal diseases to offer.

“I have faced a lot in the music industry just to make a name for myself; I thank God that it is finally paying off. It is my dream; I have a passion for it so I endured. I have been to a place where they asked me to take off my dress to see how my skin really looks. It was some sort of interview or process I had to go through before I could perform on stage for a gig. I have been bullied, ignored; starting wasn’t easy.
"I am used to it. I just shot my video for my song, ‘Mo fi di lu’, the video will be coming out soon. Now, anything people do, I just smile and let it go because I have seen it all.”

The name Helenite may not ring a bell yet, but the songstress may rise fast in the music industry. What makes her unique is her husky voice. Although a beautiful lady, her voice can be mistaken for a man’s.
However, she said her husky voice suits her and her music well. She added:
“I do afro-pop music and RnB. I know I have a husky voice and it works very well for my music. It makes me different and unique. My unique husky voice is an advantage to me. Being a female musician does not mean that your voice has to be thin or faint. My voice is deep and my fans love it this way. On numerous occasions, I am mistaken for a man on the phone because of my voice.
"Sometime I could be with my female friends, when they receive their boyfriends’ calls and I talk in the background, they sometimes think they are with men till I talk to their boyfriends to clear the doubt in their mind. Funny thing is that when someone talks to me on the phone and see me in real life, they are shocked because of how beautiful I am.”

277  Forum / The Buzz Central / Collapsed Marriages In Nollywood: See The Few Good Ones on: 4-08-2013 07:24 AM
Considering the regular incidences of crashed marriages especially among actresses in Nigerian film industry, otherwise known as Nollywood, Patience Ihejirika and Evelyn Okoruwa take a look at some of the few ones who have been able to sustain their marriages in spite of their fame:

Joke Silva
Joke Silva’s marriage is one of the few marriages that have remained a reference point in the industry. Unlike many Nollywood marriages, her marriage has been scandal free and her relationship with her husband, Olu Jacobs who is a veteran actor, has been so fun filled and blissful even though it has been in place for almost three decades. Today Joke is seen as a role model by many, particularly young people in the country.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde
Omotola, an actress with a difference, has been an expert in the marriage business. Her marriage has weathered the storm and is one of the few marriages in the industry that has remained scandal free.

Omosexy as the actress is warmly called by her fans revealed in a recent interview that her love for her husband was not sudden. ‘I always tell people that when I met him, I was not in love with him but he says for him, it was love at first sight, so I had to grow to love him. I was attracted to him because of his maturity. I saw the ability for him to see me. I mean, he knows me more than I know myself. It is just weird I can’t explain. You just can’t get it. But he feels my pain, it is easy for him.”

Though she was very young when she met her husband, he proved beyond reasonable doubt that he was the man sent to her by God.
Today, her marriage is still blissful and it has indeed stood the taste of time. This journey of live that has lasted for about 16 years is blessed with four lovely kids.

Henrieta Kosoko
Henrietta Kosoko is another actress whose marriage has been able to stand the taste of time. In spite of the fact that her husband is a polygamist, their love still knows no bound.

Ngozie Orji
Ngozie Orji, wife of renowned actor, Zack Orji is also referenced as a role model. They have been married for over two decades and the union which is blessed with three lovely children is still waxing strong.

Ireti Doyle
Married for some years now, the Doyles’ love still rates high like newly wedded couple’s love. In a recent interview, Ireti, attributed the success of her marriage to her husband, saying, “As a career wife, I leave home by 5.30am and come back in the evening. So, it means there is someone who comes in during the day to make sure the little kids are ready for school.”
Today, Ireti Doyle is a role model for the young ones in the movie industry with her marriage in tact.

Chioma Chukwuma
Chioma’s marriage is another marriage in the industry that has been scandal free. The beautiful actress’ marriage is blessed with two kids.

Oge Okoye
Oge Okoye, one of the most controversial actresses in Nollywood met her husband while on a set, shooting in a club. She disclosed her husband thought she was a call girl and didn’t know she was shooting a movie. In her words, “When he saw me and what I was putting on, he was discouraged, but he told his friend, look at this fine girl, I’m going to bring her out of this life style and marry her. However, his friend told him I’m an actress and we were shooting. We exchanged phone numbers and that was it.”

Several other similar and blossoming unions abound in the country and it is hoped that other divas who are unfortunate in their marriage wound find a way around their problems and serve as necessary role models too.
