2  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Mary Sunday: A cry for justice, succour on: 31-07-2013 10:07 AM

      • Mary before the attack                              • Mary after the attack
The dream of every university graduate is to gain employment, thereby putting an end to life of dependency on parents, who must have laboured hard to help achieve that feat.
That dream, perhaps, is one that may never be realised, if financial help does not come Mary Sunday’s way, to assist her undergo urgent reconstructive surgery on her face and body.  Sunday allegedly sustained first degree burns from a cooking stove with boiling stew poured on her by her fiancé, Police Corporal Isaac Gbanwuan Orseer, during a fracas.
Trouble started for the 27-year-old Business Administration graduate when in August 24, 2012, she and her fiancé, had gone to see their doctor over Isaac’s health issues. On their way home, an argument ensued over a telephone call that Mary received. The Corporal queried her concerning the telephone calls she made and received, suspecting the calls were from her lovers.
Obviously not satisfied with her explanation, the argument degenerated and by the time they got back to their Block 5, room 10 abode in Pedro Police Barracks, Isaac became aggressive and started beating her.
According to Mary, “when it became obvious I could not bear the pains inflicted on me by Isaac as he was kicking and dragging me, I tried to escape the scene and then ran to the second floor of the two-storey building, where we lived.”
This did not deter Isaac from inflicting more pain on his victim. According to Mary, Isaac pursued her into a neighbour’s kitchen, where she sought refuge, forcefully opened the door, and in a fit of rage, carried the neighbour’s cooking stove with boiling stew and emptied the content on Mary’s head. The stove exploded, consequently setting Mary on fire.
“I ran into our neighbour’s kitchen. She had a pot of boiling stew on her stove. Isaac just made his way to the stove, carried it and poured the content on me. Maybe it’s because he shook the hot stove, I don’t know. All I knew was that the stove exploded on me and my hair and cloth just caught fire. That was the last thing I remembered as I slipped into coma after that,” Mary recounted.

This act by Isaac has caused Mary to lose her two ears, her upper neck and arms, glued together by the fire. Mary has survived two surgeries to repair the damage caused to her face with the help of her family. Till date, Isaac is walking a free man, incidentally.
The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO), Damascus Ozoani has however absolved the Corporal of the allegation on the ground that the police have carried out and closed investigations on the issue. The DPPRO, had in February, affirmed that Mary intentionally inflicted those harm on herself.
Beyond the investigation carried out by the police, Mary seems not to have any other window of redress since the police have closed investigation on her case.
Mary alleges foul play in the investigation as the police did not at any point visit her to get any information from her after a complaint was lodged by her relative.
These claims by the police have however been faulted by the Human Rights community.
Executive Director Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre, (WARDC), Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, believes that the police authority were too hasty in coming to the conclusion, arguing that unless it is intended to cover up one of their own from being punished for a dastardly act, the case should be reopened. She wondered why a woman, who was running for her life, seeking help and assistance from neighbours, would suddenly become suicidal and inflict such wanton harm on herself.
Since the incidence happened in Lagos that has passed the Violence Prohibition Law with a commitment to rid the state of violence against women and men, WARDC has petitioned the state House of Assembly.
In a petition to the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Akiyode-Abiola called on the state assembly to set up a panel of enquiry in respect of the case, so that such act will not go unpunished in order to serve as deterrent to others.
“We believe it is necessary because we suspect that there is an attempt to subdue the case because of the multiple conflicts of interest associated with the case. Also is the fact that several women suffer this and other forms of violence and the police attitude in Lagos often allows for these crimes to go unpunished.”
“The law amongst other things provides for protection and redress for women and men in abusive relationship. The state is under the obligation to protect this woman from this form of aggression”, she argued.
When contacted on telephone, Isaac said that the case has already been reported to the State Provost Marshal at Ikeja Command headquarters.
Meanwhile, the victim, Mary, has appealed to Nigerian Police authorities to reopen the case so that justice can be served on the matter. She also appealed to Nigerians to help her raise N5 million, needed to undergo reconstructive surgery in India.

Shocking video has captured the moment a trainer at a crocodile farm in Thailand was bitten on the head by one of the giant reptiles.
Pravit Suebmee, 27, was performing for a group of tourists when he put his head in a crocodile's mouth on Sunday morning.
The beast quickly clamped his jaws on Mr Pravit's head, leaving bite wounds on his face and neck. Despite the attack Mr Pravit was not seriously injured.
"This is the first time this has happened at our crocodile farm," owner Uthen Youngprapakorn said.
"I've regularly warned the performers to be careful at all times."
Mr Uthen said the crocodile was probably startled when Mr Pravit slipped, causing it to snap its jaws shut.
The video shows the crocodile thrash Mr Pravit back and forth for a moment before another handler pulls it by the tail, allowing the trainer to be released.http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AFUUIoVPZLk

Your fiancée angrily throws the N5million naira worth diamond ring you gave her in a toilet full of poo because she caught you cheating.
You know this slimy, running stomach kinda poo that the smell can set a room ablaze if fire comes close.
The toilet is even a public one. So, you don't even have a clue as to whose poo it is.

Question is - would you put your hand in that poo to get your ring back?
Or would you let the N5m diamond ring go down the drain?
Third and most important what would you do to her?

A 27-year-old man was killed by his friend, weekend, over the ownership of a mobile phone charger.
The tragedy occurred at Isapodo area of Ijebu-Ife, in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of Ogun State on Sunday.
The victim, Mr Dele Oje, described as an easy going person by his neighbours, was said to have been allegedly killed by his friend, simply identified as Muyideen after the latter requested for a phone charger from the former.
Investigations revealed that Oje had earlier argued with his friend over who owned the charger minutes before he was killed.
Shortly before his death, an argument had ensued between the duo, prompting neighbours in the two-storey building to intervene.
Unfortunately, the neighbours had barely left the scene of the argument, when Dele’s friend descended on him as the deceased attempted to have his breakfast and slashed his throat with a sharp object.
A neighbour of the deceased who did not want to be named, narrated what she described as an unfortunate incident, said: “We had earlier settled a seeming quarrel between the friends over the ownership of a telephone charger when Muyideen killed his friend’’.
‘We got there later only to see blood stains on the wall and floor of the building,  an indication that Oje had attempted to escape from his assailant’’.
Another resident who identified himself as Abayomi Oyeyemi also said that after the murder, Muyideen fled only to be fished out in a near-by bush, three hours after.
The body has been deposited at the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary while Muyideen who was arrested by the youths in the community had been handed over to police at the Ogbere division.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, who said he was yet to be briefed by the Ogbere Divisional Police Officer, added that he did not have details of the incident.

9  Forum / The Buzz Central / Soldiers Invade FCT Community, Demolish Classrooms, Houses on: 31-07-2013 09:12 AM
A detachment of soldiers have  invaded  Galadimawa, a Gbagyi community in the Federal Capital Territory, demolishing  classrooms and over 50 houses.
The soldiers, who arrived at the village around 11am on Monday with three bulldozers, started the demolition in the community primary school, where they pulled down an uncompleted block of classrooms before moving to other structures.
The exercise was led by officials of the FCT Department of Development Control, but the identities of the fierce- looking soldiers could not be ascertained as they were not wearing any name tag and rank.
Some Galadimawa youths and women, who protested the demolition exercise by throwing stones at the military men, were beaten up and forced to roll on the ground.
It took the intervention of the Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council, Micah Jibah,  to stop the demolition and douse the tension in the community.
The chairman said the community would not resist any government policy on demolition but added that such an exercise should be executed with a human face.
“The government has already planned to resettle the Gbagyi indigenes in this community, but the FCTA had yet to fulfill its promise,” Jibah told the soldiers.
The demolition team later left after some arguments with the AMAC chairman and the people of the community.
The district head of Galadimawa community, Alhaji Musa Barde, said he was not given any notice before the demolition squad came, adding that his people should be resettled and compensated before their houses were pulled down.
He said, “I was not given any advance notice before the soldiers and the FCT officials invaded our community to demolish our houses. The government should compensate and resettle us if it is sincere.”
The pastor in-charge of Evangelical Church of West Africa, Galadimawa, Bulus Baba, described the exercise as illegal, adding that the move would be resisted by the people if they were not resettled.
“No responsible government will release soldiers to unleash terror on citizens. Although the soldiers did not shoot anybody,  they beat our  youths and I don’t think this is proper,” he said.
The Public Relations Officer, development control, Kalu Enetu, confirmed the incident, saying only shanties and illegal structures were pulled down.click <a href="/X6VMtORm1J">click HERE  for more gist

10  Forum / The Buzz Central / Maid, Others Charged With Theft Of N3.6m Jewelry on: 31-07-2013 09:11 AM
An 18-year-old housemaid, Iyanuoluwa Ayobami, and two other women are standing trial at the Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State for allegedly stealing jewelry and money valued at N3.6m.
The accused, Ayobami, Christiana Arawunmi, 47, and Omolade Omowunmi, 47, were arraigned on six counts of felony, stealing, receiving stolen property and assault. They were said to have committed the crime in March and April of 2013.
The crime was however not detected until June, when Ayobami allegedly took some marked cash.
The prosecutor said Ayobami, at various times, stole N350,000, N25,000, N93,000, four golden bangles valued at N400,000 and other sets of jewelry valued N1m, belonging to Mrs. Abiola Olatunji.
Olatunji, in her testimony, said Ayobami was her sister’s maid, adding that she stole the items each time she visited her house in Magodo in company with her boss.
After allegedly confessing to the crime, the housemaid was said to have taken Olatunji to Arawunmi, saying she was the woman who kept the stolen property.
In her evidence before the court, Olatunji said, “My sister usually brought Ayobami to my house in Magodo. There was a time I put N350,000 in my bag. But I later discovered the money had disappeared.
“Again, they brought her at another time, and I discovered my N25, 000 was missing.
“Meanwhile, I also observed that each time she came with my sister, my jewelry and golden bangles mysteriously disappeared.”
She said she decided to set a trap for her with some marked naira notes.
Olatunji said, “It was on a Friday, June 7, 2013. We went upstairs to pray. After the prayers, I wanted to give money to the clerics that came and I discovered the money was gone as expected. Another N7,000 that I kept in a separate envelope was also missing.”
She said after much pressure, the maid confessed to stealing the money.
She said, “She led us to where we kept dirty clothes and brought out a black nylon which contained N93,000. When we asked where she had been keeping all the jewelry, she took us to Arawunmi, who denied any involvement.
“Later, we involved the police and Ayobami and Arawunmi were arrested.”
It was learnt that at the station, the police seized Arawunmi’s phone because she was making some calls. Olatunji was given the phone and instructed to act as Arawunmi to the person at the other end.
Olatunji said, “When the person called again, and I picked it. The woman, Omowunmi, thinking I was her friend, told me on the telephone that the items were still in her house. She promised that her husband, who is a lawyer, would fight for me. The police also arrested Omowunmi.”

11  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / You Won't Believe The Reasons This Robbers Gave For Terrorising Ondo State on: 31-07-2013 08:41 AM
Residents of Akure town in Ondo State recently heaved a sigh of relief after the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Ondo State Police Command arrested several armed robbery suspects who had been snatching vehicles and dispossessing their victims of other valuables.
photo

Among the suspects currently undergoing interrogation at the SARS office are Tobechukwu Aguonu a.k.a. Alhaji Seriki Thunder and Uche Igwe. It was gathered that the two suspects, along with one Chinedu (surname unknown) invaded the premises of their latest victim’s house at about 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3 where they hid until about 3a.m. on July 4 when they struck.

Police sources told Crime Reports that the gang gained entrance into their victim’s residence by using an iron cutter to cut the burglary proof. They also reportedly fired two rounds of ammunition to tell their victims that they meant business and needed their cooperation. Notwithstanding, they still injured the man of the house in the mouth with the iron cutter, after which they collected phones, cash and the key of his Nissan Pathfinder SUV along with the documents.

The gang was said to have headed for Ihiala, in Imo State, with the vehicle. On getting to Onitsha, Chinedu, who was alleged to be the mastermind of the operation, got down from the vehicle, with the excuse that he needed to purchase some things.

Unfortunately for them, they were stopped along Owerri Road in Anambra State for a checkup by federal highway patrol team. When they could not give a satisfactory explanation of how they came about the vehicle, the patrol team decided to conduct a search which turned out to be revealing.
They were said to have discovered a driver’s licence and a call to the number on the licence led to a startling discovery. The speaker at the other end told the policemen that he was robbed of his vehicle in the early hours of same day.
Below are the excerpts of their interview with Crime Reports:

Uche Igwe (22), from Ebonyi State

“I have been living in Akure for two years. I am a commercial driver plying Ondo-Akure—Ore route. On that day, I was at Ondo garage when I saw two men who approached me and said they needed a driver to take a vehicle to Anambra State. I asked for the vehicle and they pointed at a Nissan Pathfinder SUV where it was parked nearby. I told them I was a driver and they sought verification by saying that I should show them my driver’s licence. I did and we negotiated my fee to N7,000.

“On the way, we were stopped by federal highway patrol police. After showing them my licence, they asked for the particulars and I told them to ask the occupant. He showed the police the documents but while searching the interior of the car, the police found a driver’s licence and asked for the owner. The person in the vehicle told the police that it belonged to his brother.

“The police called the number on the licence to confirm but was taken aback when the man at the other end told them that the vehicle was snatched from him that morning. That was how I was arrested with Alhaji Seriki while the other person, who disembarked at Onitsha, escaped.”

Tobechukwu  Aguonu a.k.a. Alhaji Seriki Thunder

“I am from Imo State. I came to Ondo State in 2005. I was selling pants and singlets in Ondo before joining robbery gang. The gang usually met at old Garage. I have been to several robbery operations with the gang. I knew Sina through Alhaji Soko who has been killed during an exchange of gunfire with the police when he went for an operation. Alhaji Soko was actually from Ihiala Local Government in Imo State.”

His gang exploits

“I was one of the gang members that used to block the highway at Ilara-Mokin junction along Ilesa-Akure highway. Other gang members’ names are Isaac, Berry, Sola, Sunny etc.

“I have operated along Igbara Oke road several times. Some of our gang members, Uche, Azuka and Osofia are currently in prison. The four locally-made guns we were using then had been collected by SARS operatives before Uche and others went to prison. The guns were given to Uche by his brother-in-law who was a hunter, and we cut it to size to serve our purpose. The in-law knew what Uche was using the guns for and he used to collect returns from us.

“On the robbery which led to my arrest, it was Chinedu who directed me to the residence of our victim. Chinedu claimed to be a brother to the man. He told me that he needed a driver to convey his brother’s vehicle to Ihiala. We were three in number and we jumped into the compound at almost 12midnight. We carried out our operation at about 3a.m. I followed him because I intended going to the village and since he was travelling home, I felt that would save me some money. He told me that his brother did not want to go home, saying by the time he took his vehicle home, he would come and join us there.

“We went to the robbery operation with Uche after telling him we needed a driver. Chinedu got down at Onitsha and we proceeded until we were arrested by federal highway patrol team.”

Confirming the case, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Dukumor, said that the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.

13  Forum / The Buzz Central / Tragedy: Lagos Housewife Pierces This Lady's Heart with Knife on: 31-07-2013 08:30 AM
Saturday, June 22, 2013, will for a long time remain indelible in the memory of Godwin Olah, 37, following an incident that claimed the life of his 28-year-old wife, Stella, during a row with a neighbour identified as Stella Omoigiafo Gilbert (31).
The suspect, a mother of one, allegedly pierced the heart of the deceased, a mother of three aged between six and three, with a knife during a scuffle in their compound...
The grieving husband of the deceased who hails from Obudu local Government Area of Cross River State told Crime Alert at their home located at 59, Ojora Street, Ajegunle, Lagos, that the suspect also inflicted severe injuries on his wife’s hand before piercing her heart resulting to her death. Amidst tears, he narrated his ordeal since the untimely death of his wife.
Godwin Olah's story: ”It happened that on June 22, 2013, at about 6pm, one of my sisters came calling on us. I decided to carry one small bench at the front of a neighbour’s house for the visitor to sit inside our room. Immediately, Stella, our neighbour, rushed out of her room and accosted me, asking why I should carry the bench inside. The owner of the bench, on hearing our argument, came out and asked her to let us be, but she refused, instead she went inside, brought out hot water and poured on us. I reasoned that if I engage in a fight with her, it might result to some serious consequences, so, I went to the police station at Ajaromi and reported the case.
“On getting back to the house, I saw my wife lying on the corridor in front of our room. I shook her but no response came from her, and the lady that engaged her in a fight was nowhere to be found. Hence, I went back to the station the second time to report of her death. The Police sent an officer to accompany me and see things for herself. The officer came, saw the lifeless body of my wife on the corridor and we went back to the station where she made her report.
The Police also requested that I get a report from the General Hospital here in Ajegunle. I took the body of my wife there and she was confirmed dead on arrival. There after, with the help of some good Samaritans around, I took her body to the Naval hospital mortuary, but she was rejected because we did not go with a police report. I brought her back and laid her on the floor in our room until the next morning.
Then, I went back to the police station and was given a police van to convey her to Lagos Island mortuary. She has been at the morgue for a month and three days now. Since then, our children have been sleeping at their aunt’s house, I go there every night to pass the night with them because they can’t sleep if I am not there with them.”
Crime Alert gathered from an eye witness that after the accused poured hot water on Godwin Olah and his visiting sister, his wife went to her room to accost her on why she should treat her husband and sister in-law in such manner, a fight ensued between both women and in the process, the accused tried to drag the deceased to the stove where she was cooking to burn her, but when she discovered she could not drag Stella Godwin (the deceased) to the fire, she brought out a knife and pierced through her right arm and her heart.

“Stella died as a result of the knife wound on her heart; the fight was so fierce that we all took off, returning only to see Stella Godwin lying in a pool of her blood on the corridor in front of their room,” the eye witness said.
Another neighbour also told Crime Alert on condition of anonymity that there have been a no- love -lost relationship between the two neighbours. “Before that incident, both neighbours had lived like cat and rat in this compound. They quarrelled at the slightest misunderstanding. I wish they listened to us, this would have been averted.”

14  Forum / The Buzz Central / £3,000 UK Visa Bond: We Will Retaliate –Federal Govt Insists on: 31-07-2013 08:19 AM
The Federal Government of Nigeria on Tuesday insisted on retaliatory action against British citizens if their government went ahead with its plan to impose a £3,000 visa bond on visitors from Nigeria and five other Commonwealth countries.
“If and when a communication to that effect is received, the Federal Government will take appropriate steps to reflect its national interest. ”
Governor expressed displeasure that the UK authorities, which already set November as the discriminatory policy’s commencement time, had not formally communicate to it on the next step of action.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olugbenga Ashiru, had at a meeting with the British High Commissioner, Andrew Pocock, conveyed the desire of Nigeria to retaliate the policy.
The spokesperson for the ministry, Ogbole Ode, said in a statement in Abuja, that the British authorities were already aware of the Federal Government’s position on the matter.
The statement reads, “Media reports in Nigeria on Monday indicated that the United Kingdom Government will begin to implement from November, 2013, the £3,000 cash bond for first-time visa applicants from Nigeria, and five other Commonwealth countries. These media reports themselves were quoting the Financial Times of London.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has yet to receive any official communication on the final decision of the UK government on this matter. The Federal Government has already conveyed its objection to the bond payment to the UK government. This was done when the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ashiru, summoned the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Andrew Pocock, to the Tafawa Balewa House, on June 25, 2013."
Anyway, UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s spokesman defended the policy, saying it was clear that it was “already working” as some illegal immigrants had voluntarily agreed to leave the UK.click <a href="/X6VMtORm1J">click HERE  for more gist

16  Forum / The Buzz Central / PHOTO: 16-Year Old Who Died At Gov, Wamakko Ramadan Gift Stampede Buried on: 31-07-2013 08:06 AM

The Sokoto State government has denied reports that a stampede led to the death of three people on Sunday night as they attempted to collect Ramadan and Sallah gifts from Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at his residence.
photo
Wamakko’s spokesman, Malam Sani Umar, said the story emanated from some people who do not want the donation of the governor.  He insisted that the distribution was done with the assistance of security agencies in the state.
SaharaReporters can however authoritatively report the burial of one of the victims, Rilwanu Bafashi of Gidan Bahuri, at the Bye-pass mortuary, Sokoto.
The burial was witnessed by Malam Bafashi, the father of the deceased and other relatives as well as sympathizers who condemned the way the governor risked the lives of many kids by inviting them in their thousands to his residence for the collection of the Ramadan and Sallah Gift.
Young Rilwanu and his friends joined the throng to Governor Wamakko’s residence with the hope of collecting their Sallah gifts.
They joined a long queue upon arrival.  When the stampede broke out, Rilwanu fell to the ground and was trampled upon by the mammoth crowd

17  Forum / The Buzz Central / Actor Solomon Akiyesi Again! Now Wants To Marry 4th Wife? on: 31-07-2013 08:01 AM
Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi is in the news for the wrong reason again. What is really going on, guy?

While the dust raised by his pregnant wife at a Lagos church few months ago - when he tried to get married to a beautiful girl, after lying to his wife he was going to a movie location - is yet to settle down, sources says he is now rolling with another big woman in Abuja.

From what we (.com) gathered:
Solomon Akiyesi, who had married two different ladies before a marriage drama in Lagos with his 'authentic' wife, is not ready to reconcile with his wife. In fact, he said a lot back then about his wife's "negative attitude" which he claimed drove him out.

But how come he can't get to stay with one woman, or even marry two and live with them peacefully if that is what he want? Could it be that Solomon needs spiritual deliverance?

The trend among some fathers who choose to have sex with their daughters has reached an alarming state, with a new dimension introduced by a father who allegedly had carnal knowledge of his eight and half months pregnant daughter in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, when she went to visit him after about 14 years of living apart.
The girl, Ibukun, (not real name) who was impregnated by her lover in another state where she lived with her paternal grandmother was said to have been brought to Ibadan when she started having complications with her pregnancy. Her mother, who got separated from her father last December, took her in to keep an eye on her, but with her meagre income of N250 per day which she earns as a cook assistant in a local cafetaria, the woman seemed incapable of taking care of Ibukun and her two younger brothers who were staying with her.
When Ibukun saw that life in Ibadan did not suit her, she decided to go back to Osogbo. However, she had the urge to see her father whom she had not seen for 14years since her grandmother took her into custody. But her decision spelt peril for her as she allegedly ended up being raped by her father.
According to Ibukun, “I was defecating one day when I started bleeding.  I was taken to hospital where they saw my womb protruding from my cervix. The ultrasound scan I did showed that I had placenta previa. At another hospital, the womb was pushed in and I was warned not to have sex until delivery.

“I was brought to Ibadan but I was not comfortable. I told my mother that I wanted to go back to Osogbo but I thought of going to see my father whom I saw last when I was a child. I asked my younger to take me there, with the thought that I would at least get transport money from him.

“I went there on Saturday July 20 with the intention of sleeping over. My brother went to sleep and I also went to lie down. My father came and ordered me to remove my clothes, raining curses on me. He started robbing my Bosom s with his hands. He later took black soap, rubbed it on his hands and started using the hands to rub my Bosom s again.
“By then, I could see that he was aroused as his manhood had risen beneath the loin cloth he tied around his waist. It was after that that he had sex with me. I was weeping and my brother saw him and exclaimed ‘Ah! My brother also started crying. It was my brother who told my mother but I went to my aunt at Bodija area and narrated my experience to her.”
The father, Mr Kehinde Olasode however denied sleeping with his daughter, swearing with the Quran. He said that he only used some leaves recommended to him to bath his daughter because of the bleeding she was experiencing in pregnancy.
Olasode said: “She had been living with my mother in Osogbo since she was about five years of age. I have not seen her all these years.  About two months ago, I was called and informed that she was pregnant and bleeding. I called her mother to inform her and she brought her to Ibadan to stay with her mother at Apete. On Saturday, July 20, her brothers brought her to me, and I sat her down to castigate her for getting pregnant instead of being serious with education or a vocation.
“Meanwhile, someone told me to get Jatropha  (lapalapa) leaves with black soap with which she should bath, saying that the bleeding she was experiencing would stop. I used the soap to rub her head and her Bosom s and gave her water to rinse her body. I don’t know how they came about the story that I slept with her.”

The mother, Adijat, told Crime Reports that she left her husband in December to look for means of survival in Lagos because he was not responsible over the three children she bore him. “The burden was too much for me. He has another woman who bore him two children.
“My daughter got pregnant in Osogbo and she later started bleeding. We brought her to Ibadan and she stabilised. When I noticed that she was almost due, I agreed with her to go back to Osogbo because there is no single baby dress in Ibadan and I am financially incapacitated to buy them.
“She went to her father on July 20 and came back to tell me that her father rubbed and squeezed her Bosom s, vowing to expose him to the whole world. She also said that he slept with her but I don’t know how true that is.”
Crime Reports gathered that the case was reported at Mapo police station and the Divisional Police Officer, SP Ganiyu Ali ordered the arrest of the suspect.
Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations officer in Oyo State, Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor, said that the suspect would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for further investigations. Crime Reports also gathered that nurses at the State Hospital, Yemetu could not conduct the test necessary to check for presence of spermatozoa in Ibukun’s vulva because of her bleeding state, so as not to trigger labour.

20  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / GO HOME or FACE ARREST - UK launches campaign urging immigrants go home (SEE PHO on: 31-07-2013 03:18 AM

Britain’s government on Monday defended a controversial campaign featuring vans with billboards urging illegal immigrants to “go home or face arrest”, after criticism from a senior minister.
Two trucks, each displaying a huge poster with a number for migrants to text if they wish to return to their country of origin, were driven around six London boroughs for a week in a pilot scheme by the interior ministry.
Posters, leaflets and advertisements in local newspapers will run for a further month.
In the UK illegally mobile billboard
Business Secretary Vince Cable, a member of the Liberal Democrat party which is the junior partner in the coalition government with Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservatives, called the campaign “stupid and offensive”.
But Cameron’s spokesman defended the vans, saying it was “clear that this is already working” and that getting illegal immigrants to leave voluntarily was the most cost-effective solution.
The interior ministry had already received a “great deal of interest” as a result of the campaign, the spokesman added.
The government will decide whether or not to roll out the vans nationwide after the ministry has collected all the necessary information, he added.
Immigration is a key issue with less than two years until Britain’s next general election, as the centre-right Conservatives fear a growing threat from the UK Independence Party, which campaigns for migration curbs and an exit from the European Union.
But the “go home” campaign has revived tensions in the coalition government, with the office of Liberal Democrat Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg reportedly saying he had not been told about the van plan in advance.
The posters feature a huge picture of a pair of handcuffs together with a number said to represent the number of arrests in the local area and the words: “In the UK illegally? Go home or face arrest.”
It tells people to text the word “HOME” to the displayed number to get help.
The trucks were driven through several areas of London with large ethnic minority populations.
A Home Office spokesman said the cost of the entire campaign, £10,000 ($15,000, 11,500 euros), was less than the £15,000 cost to forcibly remove one illegal immigrant from Britain.
The opposition Labour Party’s home affairs spokeswoman, Yvette Cooper, said the scheme was “ludicrous”.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage said ethnic communities would take the billboards as a “sign of open warfare”.
“I think it’s very Big Brother, very state-ish, very sort of East Germany circa the 1980s, it’s just a horrid way of doing it,” the member of the European parliament told LBC radio.
There was also a backlash from British commentators and on social media.
In a commentary on the Guardian newspaper website, user “Pukkah Punjabi”, a graphic designer from London, described how she had called the Home Office and asked them to help her go “home” — to her house in the suburb of Willesden Green.
She said “go home” had been a racist slogan of abuse against migrants when she was growing up in the 1970s.
The Twitter hashtag #racistvan drew a series of other users saying they had texted the ministry to ask for train times and lost keys, while there was even a spoof Twitter account @theracistvan, with the sole message “RT (retweet) if you’re in the UK illegally.”
The Conservatives in particular have been trying to shore up their right-wing credentials on the immigration issue in recent months, with centre-left Labour being seen as weaker on the issue.
In June Britain said it would charge “high-risk” adult visitors from Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Ghana a refundable bond of £3,000 for a six-month visa.
