Some members of the terror group, Boko Haram, dressed in military uniform, crept upon worshipping villagers in a mosque in Konduga, 34km southeast of Maiduguri, and shot dead at least 44 worshippers, injuring 26 others, sources said.
A House of Assembly member representing Konduga in the State Assembly, Ali Dalori, confirmed the attack to journalists, but declined giving details of the casualty.
A hospital security guard, who pleaded anonymity at the Accident and Emergency ward of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES that 26 persons were brought to the hospital on Sunday.
“Some are admitted here in the A and E ward and others have been taken to the Amenity Ward; we are under instructions not to allow visitors into the ward, please,” said the security guard.
The Konduga attack coincided with a similar attack on Ngom village, 5km east of Maiduguri, where about 12 villagers were killed. An operative of the vigilante in Maiduguri tagged Civilian-JTF, Usman Musa, told reporters in Maiduguri that a troop of soldiers and youth vigilante had been deployed to Konduga on Sunday but met a fierce resistance from the heavily armed terrorists.
“We lost four of our members in the Civilian-JTF when they arrived Konduga yesterday, I don’t know about the soldiers; but it was a very bad incident yesterday. Some of our members made it back on foot through bush paths this morning,” Musa said.
The Military Joint Task Force, JTF, is yet to speak on the latest Borno Killings while some Nigerians have continued to question the effectiveness of the State of Emergency in Borno and neighbouring Yobe and Adamawa states as the killings by insurgents continue.
The Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has in a video, claimed the responsibility for the killings in Konduga and earlier ones in Gamboru and others that led to the death of at least 14 soldiers.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to go to court if he felt libelled by the description of his presidency as a kindergarten presidency by the Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande.
''In the true character of this presidency, its increasingly irreverent and undignified spokesman failed to respond to the issues raised by Chief Akande, and instead chose to haul abuses at a man who is old enough to be his father. Such irresponsible act does no credit to the spokesman or the president he is serving, and Nigerians will definitely not forget such crudity in a hurry.
In a statement issued in Accra on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said Chief Akande merely told the truth by his characterization of the Jonathan presidency, adding ''Isn't truth a defense to libel?''

It also said there was nothing strange or wrong in criticizing a democratically-elected President, after all he is neither an Imperial President, a Monarchy nor an Emperor.

APC said nothing confirmed Chief Akande's assertion that Jonathan is running a kindergarten presidency than the crude manner it (presidency) responded to the frank but constructive criticism by the APC National Chairman.

''Where is the presidency's response to Chief Akande's assertion that he has written two letters to the President over the serious challenges facing the country, without getting a response? Where is the presidency's response to Chief Akande's assertion that President Jonathan is witch-hunting political opponents? These are the issues that Nigerians are interested in, not how many hours the President sleeps at night because he is supposedly working tirelessly.

''In any case, if indeed this President is working tirelessly, we need to ask who he is working for, because Nigerians have yet to feel the impact of his administration. They are also not interested in the fact that the President once served as a deputy governor, governor and Vice President, because the experiences he supposedly garnered from doing so have not impacted positively on his duty as President. That's not a surprise, considering that the President owes his meteoric rise in politics to luck and destiny. Nothing else!'' the party said

It described the presidency as an under-achieving one, always eager to celebrate tokenism, using questionable statistics.

''As the presidency was composing its empty response to the serious issues raised by our highly-respected Chairman, the African Development Bank was saying in its annual report (African Economic Outlook), quoted by the local media on Sunday, that the proportion of people (Nigerians) living below the national poverty line has worsened from 65.5 per cent in 1996 to 69.0 per cent in 2010, most of those years under the PDP and the last four under President Jonathan.

''What therefore is there to celebrate in a presidency under which power generation has fallen to 2,500MW? What is there to celebrate in a presidency that has only given Nigerians widespread insecurity, unemployment, dilapidated infrastructure, oil theft and unbridled corruption. Of what use is the touted 6% increase in the GDP when over 40% of our youth are unemployed?," the APC queried.

The party described as a figment of the presidency's imagination the claim of a feud between its leaders, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, saying the PDP and the presidency have been peddling lies over a phantom feud because they could not fathom how the leadership of the APC could put national interest above personal considerations.

''Mr. President, don't let your lick-spittle aides deceive you. There is absolutely no feud between the two leaders. Waiting for such a feud is like 'Waiting for Godot'.'' it said.

By age 16, the teenager was dead - beaten, stabbed, shot and run over by a car when he showed up at a street party dressed as a woman. His mistake: confiding to a friend that he was attending a "straight" party as a girl for the first time in his life.
"When I saw Dwayne's body, I started shaking and crying," said Khloe, one of three transgender friends who shared a derelict house with the teenager in the hills above the north coast city of Montego Bay. Like many transgender and gay people in Jamaica, Khloe wouldn't give a full name out of fear.
"It was horrible. It was so, so painful to see him like that."
International advocacy groups often portray this Caribbean island as the most hostile country in the Western Hemisphere for gay and transgender people. After two prominent gay rights activists were murdered, a researcher with the U.S based Human Rights Watch in 2006 called the environment in Jamaica for such groups "the worst any of us has ever seen".
Local activists have since disputed that label, but still say homophobia is pervasive. Dwayne's horrific July 22 murder has made headlines in newspapers on the island and stirred calls in some quarters for doing more to protect Jamaica's gay community, especially those who live on the streets and resort to sex work.

A 34-year-old man was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa state for allegedly molesting a five-year-old girl in Hadejia local government area.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Muhammad Gidado, said that the suspect was arrested at Walawa quarters of Hadejia town on Friday.
According to the Commandant, the suspect allegedly lured the girl into an uncompleted building and committed the offence.
He said that the suspect was arrested following intelligence report.
Mr Muhammad Gidado said that medical doctors at the General Hospital, Hadejia, confirmed that the girl was raped.
Gidado said that investigations into the case had been concluded adding that the suspect would soon be taken to court.
According to him, the command has also launched man hunt for the arrest of three other suspects in connection with another rape case in the area.
On Sunday, April 7, the NSCDC confirmed the arrest of six men who allegedly gang raped a 12-year-old girl in Maigatari local government area of the state.

My name is Anna Banner. I am 18 years old. I am the current Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria.  I hail from Bayelsa State. I am the first girl but last child of my parents.
I had my secondary education in Port Harcourt last year and in the last Unified Matriculation Examinations, I scored 214 and was waiting to write post-UME. I applied to read communications at University of Port Harcourt. I worked partly at an oil company in Port-Harcourt because I didn’t want to be idle.
Support from parents
I had the support of my parents. Initially, I did not tell them about the auditions. I thought that I would not make it to the final. It was only after I scaled through the audition process that I informed them and they were happy. There were even at the finals to cheer me on.
Winning the crown
This is my first attempt at a beauty pageant. I had always wanted to participate in a pageant but I never got encouragement until a friend advised me to buy the form. I went for auditions and saw so many beautiful girls. I felt intimidated and did not even expect to make it to the grand finale. I won due to God’s grace and not because I was the prettiest or had the loudest applause. It is not because I am from Bayelsa. My victory was purely on merit.
I remain my old self
I am still Anna Banner; it is just that I am wearing a crown. Adjusting to my new status has not been easy because a lot of things are new to me. For instance, I get more calls from well wishers, my Facebook page has been bombarded by requests but in all, I am grateful to God. Sometimes, I feel I have been robbed of my privacy but I know every queen before me experienced same and I am handling it all.
Fashion
I like to look chic and glamorous. I don’t like wearing high-heel shoes but I don’t have a choice now. When shopping for shoes, I go for comfortable heels which I can wear for four or five hours without feeling stressed.
Beauty routine
I drink a lot of water, get enough rest by sleeping and I never sleep with make-up on because my pores need to breath. I also eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. Staying slim is not a struggle and I eat moderately. But I still visit the gym to keep fit not necessarily to lose weight. My statistics is 34-26-39 and I am 5 ft 7.

After a walk in the garden, Milyn said she and Bieber drove to Beverly Hills and checked into a suite that was waiting for them. at the Four Seasons.
“There were white roses everywhere,” she said.
“Justin said we should go to the bedroom. He offered me a drink. It was Patron tequila and really strong, so I mixed it with orange juice.
“I’d only taken two sips when we started messing around. Suddenly we were kissing and I started to take off my clothes, it was a natural thing.
“Justin knew what he was doing, like a man much older than his years. I felt like he’d had a lesson or two.”
After the fling was exposed, Mimi, as she’s also known, said she became the target of internet trolls and the wrath of her family.

An English teacher at high school is accused of inappropriate contact with a student after the boy's mother reportedly caught her with her son in a swimming pool at the apartment complex where they live.

Lesley Ann Sharp faces charges of improper relationship between educator and student, possession or promotion of child pornography, tampering with physical evidence and perjury, according to the Dallas Morning News. The 24-year-old teacher is accused of accused of having sex with the 17-year-old more than 25 times, in locations such as her car, her apartment and even "in his apartment while the student’s parents were not home."
The child pornography charges stem from explicit photos that Sharp allegedly exchanged with the boy via text message, according to police. Police allege that Sharp and the student, a freshman at Hillcrest High School, “exchanged 116 telephone calls, 173 multi-media messages and 15,371 text messages” between May and July of this year.
Sharp allegedly tried to delete information that she had synced from her iPhone to her school-issued laptop before handing the computer over to investigators. Police also claim Sharp told the victim to delete photos and messages after she learned of the investigation.
In a letter to parents, Hillcrest High School principal Ronald Jones wrote that Sharp was a new teacher and would not be returning to the school next year:
"It has been brought to our attention that one of our staff members was recently arrested on an allegation that she had an inappropriate relationship with one of our students. The teacher was new to our staff this year and is believed to have had this relationship with only one student."
A Dallas Independent School District spokesman told the Dallas Morning News that Sharp was placed on leave pending the outcome of the criminal case.

A woman has been charged with murder in the death of her infant son.

Sarah Stephens faces second-degree murder and felony child endangerment counts stemming from the drug-overdose death of her baby last September. Although the Sacramento County Coroner initially attributed the child's death to SIDS, toxicology results later revealed that the 7-month-old died of a drug overdose.
Police say Stephens, 32, "knowingly and without regard for the infant’s health, administered controlled substances to the infant, ultimately causing his death."
Officers said the drugs were prescription medication. Stephens has one older child, police told the newspaper.
It was reported that Stephens was arrested Aug. 7, and booked into Sacramento County Jail.

Ryan Havens Tannenholz, 28 -- a self-described "furry" who dresses up as a dog he calls Bubblegum Husky -- is charged with six counts of crimes against nature, and one count of cruelty to an animal, the Idaho Statesman reported.
Police say the Boise man abused the cat multiple times between January 2012 and January 2013.
It's unclear how they learned about the Tannenholz's alleged actions, but an arrest warrant was issued for him in late July.

A judge in the US has ordered a baby's first name to be changed from Messiah to Martin, arguing that the only true messiah is Jesus Christ, reports say.
The parents of seven-month old Messiah DeShawn Martin had gone to court in Tennessee over his last name.
But Child Support Magistrate Lu Ann Ballew ordered the first name changed too, local broadcaster WBIR-TV said.
Last year more than 700 babies were named Messiah in the US, according to the Social Security Administration.
Christianity refers to Jesus as the Messiah, while Judaism uses the term to mean an anticipated saviour of the Jews.
The judge in Cocke County said the name Messiah could cause the boy difficulties if he grew up in such a predominantly Christian area.
"It could put him at odds with a lot of people and at this point he has had no choice in what his name is," Judge Ballew said.
Instead she ordered that the baby was to be named Martin DeShawn McCullough, which includes both parents' last name.in, arguing that the only true messiah is Jesus Christ, reports say.
