Tina Turner is cutting her ties with the U.S.

The R&B belter and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennesee, went to the U.S. embassy in Bern, Switzerland, on Oct. 24 to sign a so-called "Statement of Voluntary Relinquishment of U.S. Citizenship under Section 349 (a)(1) of the INA [Immigration and Naturalization Act]," the Washington Post reports.

Turner, who turns 74 on Nov. 26, has lived in Switzerland for almost 20 years. In July, she married Erwin Bach, a German music producer she began dating in 1986.

Bach has worked with the likes of Paul McCartney, Radiohead, Petshop Boys, Queen, and Pink Floyd.

Turner's plans to receive a Swiss passport were announced in January. In April, she passed the mandatory citizenship test that quizzed her on Swiss history and the German language. She became a Swiss citizen on April 22.

Turner told German newspaper Blick that she considers Switzerland home. "I'm very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here … I cannot imagine a better place to live," she said.

According to the U.S. embassy in Bern's activity report, Turner said she did not have plans to live in the U.S. in the future and her family was her only strong tie to her native country.

Turner is not renouncing her U.S. citizenship, though, the Post clarifies. The "relinquishment" statement means that she received the "Swiss citizenship with the intent to lose her U.S. citizenship."

What's love got to do with it? Sound like pretty much everything

Report: GCC could see unified tourism visa in 2014 A streamlined visa process that would allow expats in the Gulf to travel easily between the six GCC countries could go online by the middle of next year, a Kuwaiti newspaper has reported. Citing unnamed security officials, Al Rai said in a report today that the goal is to “reinvigorate tourism, business, shopping travel and economic activities in the member countries.” The newspaper added that the process would match Europe’s Schengen system, which allows travelers to visit multiple member countries with a single visa, without having to apply and pay for permission to enter each nation. Currently, nationals of Gulf countries can travel across the GCC, which is comprised of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain and Oman, by presenting their ID cards. But non-Khaleejis typically must apply for visas before visiting, depending on their origins and the country they are visiting. Requirements Under the new system, visas would be available for a yet-to-be-determined fee at embassies in the GCC and in foreign countries. Expats could apply for multiple-entry visas that last up to one year, the report states. But applicants will be screened on the basis of their financial status and expats who have previously been deported from a GCC country or run into legal trouble would not be granted the visa. Al Rai states that the idea, which has been discussed for at least a decade, would be “the largest and most comprehensive in the field of security cooperation between the countries Gulf Cooperation Council.” Gulf News adds that “technical issues” that have been holding up the process are being addressed so that the system can go online next year. Would you apply for this visa once it’s a reality? Thoughts? Credit: Photo by Daniel Greer

Passenger seeking medical treatment in US dies aboard Qatar Airways flight A 49-year-old Saudi woman has died aboard a Qatar Airways flight traveling to Houston from Doha over the weekend, the airline has confirmed. The woman, identified by the Houston Chronicle as Fatimah M. Alsiari, had been flying to the US to seek medical treatment. A Houston Police Department official told the newspaper that the cause of her death was still being investigated. Speaking to Doha News, a Qatar Airways spokeswoman declined to discuss the passenger’s medical state, but said that nurses and a doctor aboard the flight tended to her. "Everything was done to try to save her," she said. She added that the woman died while in US airspace, closer to the end of the roughly 16-hour flight. Qatar Airways has a set policy in terms of how an aircraft manages onboard deaths, but it is not shared publicly, because every situation is different, the spokeswoman said. "However, if a person needs medical attention, we divert to the closest airport possible," she added. Anyone know more? Thoughts? Credit: Photo by Doug
CMC calls on government to revamp Qatar's beaches To truly become an important tourist destination, Qatar must overhaul its many beaches, the Central Municipal Council has said. Trash, pollution and inaccessibility due to a large number of rocks are among the biggest reasons families steer clear of local beaches, officials told Al Watan. The changing demographic of visitors also plays a role, council member Said bin Ali al Marri said. Qatar Tribune translates: "The country’s urban growth has led to an increasing number of expatriates, especially singles to visit beaches in Al Wakrah and Mesaieed for entertainment, making citizens and families more reluctant." In Al Wakrah, the smell of dead fish constantly washing ashore - especially near the fishing port - has also become a nuisance. Despite these conditions, the summer heat typically prompts thousands of Qatar residents to pay a visit to the shore, whether that be in Simaisma, Dukhan, Shamal, Fuwayrit, or of course, Sealine. To make their visits more enjoyable - and attract more Qataris to the beaches - CMC members recommended adding trash bins to high-traffic areas and devising a beach development plan. Have you been to any of Qatar’s beaches this summer? Thoughts? Credit: Photo by Lih Ali

Official: Qatar expat in stabbing case remains at large

Qatar authorities are still searching for a Nigerian expat who reportedly stabbed his former roommate last week in a fight over an internet device.

The incident, first reported by Gulf Times, took place last Monday, days after the Peninsula reported a death by stabbing at a labor camp in the Industrial Area.

In this latest incident, the alleged attacker, a safety officer who has lived in Qatar for three years, told his four roommates he was moving out and introduced them to his replacement.

The roommates protested, as their space in an old villa was already too crowded. The man grew annoyed, left, and then returned to retrieve the internet cable hooked up in the room.

The victim said that’s when he intervened. Gulf Times reports:

"O N threatened to kill me with a pair of scissors he was holding at the time if I tried any further to stop him from removing the cable, claiming that it (Internet) belonged to him.

When he continued with the disconnection, I struggled to collect the cable from him and headed towards our room. Then suddenly, he stabbed me with the scissors on the back twice. I was jolted and  turned around only to be jabbed in the chest and in the head.”

Eventually, the victim was rescued by his other roommates, and the alleged attacker ran out of the room. Speaking to Doha News, Victor Ikoli, a spokesman for the Nigerian community, said the man remains at large.

Frustration mounts

According to the Peninsula, violent incidents between low-income expats in Qatar are becoming increasingly frequent. Earlier this month, the newspaper reported that a 31-year-old Indian expat was stabbed by a Nepalese peer in the Al Sailiya labor camp.

Qatar has seen a rapid influx of construction workers in the past few years, as mega projects ahead of the 2022 World Cup get underway. These expats are typically housed together in cramped spaces outside of Doha, limited recreational options and increasing their isolation.

However, despite the growing tensions amid different groups of workers, Ikoli said incidents among the Nigerian community are uncommon.

"It’s a rarity just hearing such for the first time," he said. "The community members are law abiding and go about their duties only one of such case as this. We hope he’s apprehended and properly dealt with."

7  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Maps & Flag of the future of then Nigeria by Opeyemi of house of Rep,. on: 22-08-2013 03:53 AM
The House of Representatives recently released what it called outcomes of public hearings held in respect of its process of amending the 1999 Constitution. If those touted outcomes become law, they will mean de facto and de jure end of the concept and practice of federalism under Nigeria’s constitution. In virtually every instance, the Representatives voted against federalism! It is shocking, given the agitation for a return to some semblance of a federalist constitution from our current unitary-federalism that the House chose to further erode the last vestiges of federalism left in Nigeria’s constitutional order.

Item 16 of the House platform endorses the amendment of section 197 (1) (b) of the 1999 Constitution to abolish state election commissions and have all elections conducted by the national electoral commission, INEC. If this provision becomes law, INEC will conduct future local government elections! This follows the effective nationalization of the judiciary through the National Judicial Commission; transfer of virtually all important legislative matters to the exclusive legislative list controlled by the federal government; nationalization of policing and security; and other federalist aberrations in the constitution. It is unbelievable that our Representatives believe the way to go is to further worsen the constitutional balance in favour of the federal government!

If you thought the House’ inclination to increase rather than reduce federal powers, and reduce rather than increase state powers, at a time most enlightened Nigerians call for devolution of powers to subsidiary levels of government, (and even unitary nations such as the United Kingdom are devolving powers to sub-national levels!) was an innocent mistake, you would be wrong given other decisions taken! Item 15 was a modest attempt to move some sinecure items (fingerprints, identification and criminal records; insurance, labour, prisons, public holidays, railways, bankruptcy and insolvency and registration of births and deaths from the federal government’s exclusive legislative list to the concurrent list. This would not have prevented federal legislation on those matters. Rather any federal law would still over-ride state laws as every student of constitutional law knows! But our anti-federalist House of Representatives platform rejected even this small step towards redressing our defective federal structure!

The worst assault on the federal principle was in respect of local government administration. In a series of positions contained in items 10 to 14 of the House platform, the Representatives systemically seek to make local governments accountable to the federal rather than state governments. In item 10, the House adopts the position that local government funding should be transferred direct to them by the federal administration, bypassing states; item 11 categorically and overwhelmingly rejected a sensible attempt to make local government creation an exclusive affair of state governments as they are in other federal systems; item 12 demonstrates in unmistakable terms the intent of the House by voting explicitly to make local government a third tier of government with its own legislative list! And item 14 seeks to prescribe in the national constitution the tenure of local governments! These positions are shocking and aberrant and show that our Representatives do not understand the imperative of the nation for federalism! It is sad that rather than redress the erosion of our federal constitution, the House would rather seek its final destruction by further weakening the states and centralizing additional powers.

There are several other indicators of the House’s abhorrence for the concept and practice of federalism in the recently published platform. The House rejected both a modest proposal in item 4 for recognition of the six geo-political zones “for administrative purposes only” and a more ambitious proposal in item 5 that they be treated as “another tier of government”. Evidently in the view of our Representatives, Nigeria is just perfect the way it is! Some cynics will say, “Why wouldn’t they think so? They are just fine the way they are-allowances, constituency projects, “oversight” and all!!!” Not surprisingly given its other preferences the House in items 35 and 36 rejects entrenchment of the principle of derivation, and in items 19-21 overwhelmingly rejected the establishment of state police and unambiguously affirmed that the current police system and structure should be retained completing the rout of the federalist principle at least in the opinion of our current members of the House of Representatives!

I am aware that House members will argue that these obnoxious outcomes do not represent their personal opinions or House resolutions, but are decisions reached by their constituents in the public sessions conducted by them. I do not accept this position! From reports I have received, those public sessions were so poorly and shabbily organized, publicized and attended that they cannot represent the views of Nigerians. My suspicion is that these positions reflect the personal and preconceived views of the Representatives and their consultants, rather than popular positions!!! Those outcomes certainly appear perverse and are unlikely to reflect the views of many constituencies in Nigeria. Certainly not mine!!!

Nigeria needs federalism both as a political and economic imperative. The evidence is overwhelming that the strategy of centralization and unitary prebendalism is already destroying the nation. By the time you centralize all elections, police, armed forces, security, judiciary, all important legislation, local government, and most resources under one national leader, Nigeria would be ready for full civilian or fascist dictatorship! The House of Representatives must not be allowed to drive the final nail in the coffin of Nigerian federalism and democracy

A Saudi man, weighing approximately 610 kg (1345 lbs), was airlifted by Saudi Civil Defense on Monday from his house in the Saudi city of Jizan to the capital Riyadh where was operated for extreme obesity.

Khaled Mohsen Shaeri, in his twenties, was operated at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh to remove 80 kg (176 lbs) from his stomach after he became unable to walk.

Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz earlier this year ordered the health ministry to provide full medical treatment for Shaeri but medical officials said they didn’t have the means to move him.

Khaled Mohsen Shaeri is transported with a fork-lift track on Aug.19, 2013 at the airport in Riyadh. (AFP)

A special bed and a crane were ordered for him from the United States, Saudi media reported.

Shaeri’s weight severely increased due to health problems, Sabq newspaper previously reported.

The newspaper quoted a medical official as saying that “a health team which has visited him recently described his condition as exceptional and that they had not seen like it before.”

Ayed al-Qahtani, Obesity surgery Consultant, told Al Arabiya that procedure “was mixed with feelings of fear and joy.”

“Despite the development of a deliberate plan one must still expect the worst,” he said. “Our colleagues were in touch every five minutes during the process of transfer. They were updating us after passing each stage until they reached to kind Fahad Medical City,” al-Qahtani added.

11  Forum / Politics / How Femi Fani Kayode’s Wife and Daughters Slept with Atiku, Obasanjo, Shama And on: 16-08-2013 04:20 AM
Femi has finally displayed his wealth of Idio-stupidity…hence his immoral house hood chapter is hereby opened

1. I have been in dispute with Femi since September 2011 over personal issues.

2. I worked with ObJ between, 2004 to 2007 (Second term) as private in house Agent before leaving to back to Canada in late 2007.

3. I have known Femi since 2002; we first met during an evening Private meeting, on a Sunday at Otta (OBJ’s Parlor).

4. Femi never hide his segxwal taste on women (both single and Married. And in many occasions with OBJ, OBJ stylishly joke over Femi’s unending libido on women who rush for assistance, favor or help in Abuja.

5. OBJ calls him “Woman Rapper” and usually warn him to be careful.

6. Many of us including his Aides and OBJ’s Aides knew that Femi is usually on drugs.

7. I can categorically state that Femi has slept with the lady (Adaobi Uchegbu) he mentioned on his FB wall, I don’t know about Miss Chioma Anasoh, I have never heard or seen her before but I say he’s only dreaming of sleeping with Bianca. I believe he’s only lying or trying to make his petition against Ibos strong by dragging Bianca to his chains and lists of banged women. Throughout my time with them (OBJ, Atiku, Imoke and Femi), I have never seen or heard of any relationship between him and Bianca. It would be surprising to know that Femi has never in his life met Bianca, because Femi is very good at lies.

8. No doubt Femi has slept with many Nigerian women (Yoruba, Hausa, Ibo, IJaw etc); Married and Unmarried women.

9. He was not only the person that slept with Adaobi Ukaegbu. I have done it with her severally even when Femi was poking her day and night in Abuja. Even many security men have done it with her under Femi’s nose. So I don’t think Femi should make noise about Adaobi. Adaobi to security men who have banged her severally in and outside Villa was seen as one of those Abuja Prostitutes. She and many other ladies even from south west, South-East, South-south and North were just popular to many of us as political sex hankers. Anyone can bang Adaobi and others even just by mentioning that you are a son to a local government chairman, but you must be ready.

10. She (Adaobi) is not alone in warming of Abuja men’s bed, many Yoruba, Hausa, Tiv, Edo etc were all in the same business of being phyuked for one favor or the other. Today, many of them were lucky to head or work in one office or the other as they continue their political bed warming in Abuja.

11. Unfortunately, what Femi doesn’t know is that; while he was busy messing up with people’s wives, girls friends, others were also busy phyuking his house hood (his wife and female children) under his nose.

12. I can authoritatively inform you that in two different occasions in 2006; one in Abuja and the other in Saudi Arabia, Former VP (Atiku) wiped Regina (Femi’s wife). Madam Regina Fani-Kayode is also a hot pant and money hunger just like her husband Femi.

13. Femi has five beautiful daughters and I can authoritatively inform you that OBJ has severally slept with Regina and Oluwafolake (Femi’s first daughter).

14. Femi’s daughters; Oluwafolake, who’s mostly called (Folake) and Oluwatemitope who’s mostly called (Temi) are Bi-Sex, and worst of it they are into incest relationship. Two one them have been caught severally making things out on the bed by their own father, who is also crazy about sex and drugs.

15. I, personally have banged Folake, and Temi, but my other colleague has banged Femi’s second to the youngest daughter of his second divorced wife; Oluwatobiloba, who at her prime age love sex more than food.

16. Femi might be aware of the segxwal relationship between his wife, daughter with OBJ. He has in some occasions quarreled with Regina and threatens her of Divorce, but for the sake of OBJ and his job, Femi kept mute.

17. In October 2010 during Femi’s private dinner for his 50th birthday, Regina went home with OBJ and spent the Night with him while Femi was busy bedding Adaobi who assisted very well for the social event. Adaobi case nearly destroyed Femi’s home as his wife usually use her as an excuse of segxwal immorality even with young campus boys and ex-boy friends.

18. In 2007, one of the security men who has severally banged Femi’s daughter Temi was caught happily showcasing his big black dick to another Femi’s daughter Oluwatuminu during her holiday break, which she admired with smile. They were caught on a newly installed CCTV and the young man was fired thereafter.

19. The only daughter from Regina was the only decent girl in Femi’s house, although she’s still growing up.

20. There’s trouble in Femi’s house hood over madness of immorality segxwal relationship and drug addicts. Femi has personally told me when things were okay between us that “Women are only tools for enjoyment”. He said he divorced his first wife (Saratu) the late 1990 over trust. Saratu who I met once was Folake’s mother, even though they have divorce and the woman remarried, Femi still bang her whenever she visit Abuja as I know in 2006.

21. Femi’s second marriage lasted only five years (1991 – 1995 as I later knew) with three daughters; Oluwatemitope, Oluwatobiloba and Oluwatuminu. He’s divorced second wife Yemisi Olasunbo Adeniji once accused him of sleeping with their first Oluwatemitope(Temi), although she’s no longer his wife, Femi usually demand sex from her which to my knowledge the woman never give in but have slept severally with Femi’s friends and politicall associate.

22. Regina Fani-Kayode (nee Regina patience Amonoo), Femi’s third and present wife have also been accused by Femi of sleeping with his brother Rotimi Fani-Kayode. Regina who had only one daughter; Oluwaremilekun for Femi has been warned by Femi not to operate or open FaceBook account, because Femi thinks she will end up getting dating more young guys on internet.

23. I can state here that Femi’s marriage with Regina will still not last. The lady is also smart and segxwally active like Femi. Femi hasn’t divorce her yet because he’s still eating through her as the Lady keeps secret dates with top politicians, makes money and ready to fix Femi too politically. OBJ’s relationship with Femi has been cordial because of this lady who warms OBJ ‘s bed regularly. The same lady has been making personally effort with GEJ for herself and probably for fix for Femi.

24. Finally, I have never banged Femi’s third wife Regina but I can say she’s a nice woman in her good side, though I have enjoyed nice segxwal views of her. Seen her being banged by VP and Presido and assisted her many times with her clothes. My problem with them is that they are ingrates. Thanks for their daughters who made me happy several times with their tits, honeypot and mouths. There’s no need throwing stone when you have so many glass houses. Nigeria MUST remain One. Those preaching division from south-south and south-East are wasting their time.
