A mild drama occurred at the River Jordan in Israel when the Nigerian delegation headed by President Goodluck Jonathan went on October 26, 2013, to offer prayers, led by the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ayo Oritsejafor. It would be noted that on October 27, 2013, Sunday, the Abuja-based online news platform, Premium Times, reported that the office of the National Security Adviser has said that neither the Minister nor the NCAA applied for, or received the mandatory “End User Certificate” for the cars. Similarly, several sources at the Federal Road Safety Corps have told SaharaReporters that the agency never presented the cars for licensing.
Former Chief of General Staff, Vice Admiral Mike Akhigbe, is dead. He was 68. Akhigbe, whose position in the Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC), headed by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, made him the military vice-president in the junta that superintended the return to democracy in 1999, died at the weekend in England, THISDAY learnt Sunday. It was gathered that the deceased had been battling with cancer for a long time. Before his appointment as the chief of general staff following the death of the then Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, in 1998, Akhigbe, who hailed from Edo State, was the Chief of Naval Staff. After his retirement from the navy he went to read law and became an attorney with specialisation in Maritime and Real Estate Law. He was a seasoned businessman with substantial interests in real estate. During his military career that spanned several decades, he was the Principal Welfare Officer of the Nigerian Navy Flagship NNS Aradu, military governor of Lagos and Ondo States, Director at the Naval Headquarters and Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command. Akhigbe attended the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Royal Naval School of Maritime Operations Dryad, Southwick the United Kingdom, Command and Staff College Jaji, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru and University of Poitiers, Rouan, France.

A 34-year-old man faces imprisonment for allegedly assaulting a police sergeant and trying to strangle him with handcuffs. Three members of the suspect's family were apprehended, too.
The incident took place in Ilupeju area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. The accused, Emmanuel Ubong, attacked the police officer, Oyewo Olukayode, when the latter tried to arrest Ubong for an undisclosed offence. Ubong disarmed Olukayode, took the handcuffs and tried to strangle the policeman with them. Meanwhile, his relatives, who were at the time at home together with the suspect at 12, Adeola Adeleye Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, watched on. However, their neighbours intervened and rescued the policeman. The victim was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Apart from Ubong, his wife Imeh(29), and two of his relations, Happiness Okon, 27, and Udeni Idorenyin, 31, were arrested. They were charged with conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, while Ubong was charged for attempted murder under the criminal code. They pleaded not guilty to the charges. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A. A. Ipaye-Nwachuwu granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 22 October, 2013, while they were remanded pending when they will fulfill their bail condition.

A tricycle operator, weekend, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the residence of his lover at Okpokiti Street, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State. It was gathered that the deceased committed suicide because his lover left him in her house to sleep somewhere else. When journalist arrived the scene, neighbours were seen discussing the incident, while homicide detectives from the ‘A’ Police Division, Warri, came to remove the dangling remains to the morgue of the CentralHospital, Warri. The policemen, who declined comments later took the girlfriend away for questioning. A tenant, who pleaded anonymity, said, “it all started last night (Saturday), when we heard the deceased and his girlfriend arguing. “I was sleeping in my room when I heard them arguing. It is like the young man wanted to spend the night with the girl, but the girl refused. “The argument got to a point and the girl told the boy that if he was going to spend the night in her house, she will not sleep in the same house with him. “The boy told the girl that if she leaves, he would kill himself. The girl, thinking that the boy was joking, told him to go ahead and kill himself, left the boy in the room and went to go and sleep in another place.” It was gathered that when the girl returned in the morning (yesterday), she discovered that the door was locked. She alerted her neighbours, who helped her to force the door open, only to see the lifeless body of her boyfriend dangling from a rope. The community people took the girl to the police station. 25 year old Abigail, who has been dating Obafemi since 2012, lost the first pregnancy we all reported last year. She was about four months pregnant when she was in Nigeria with Obafemi in December 2012 but lost the baby and got pregnant again almost immediately.
The never-before-married Obafemi has a son with an African chick he dated in Italy many years ago, he also has a 3 and a half year old son with a white chick he dated while playing in the UK and now a son with Abigail. Father of all nation. Hehe. Congrats to Abigail and Obafemi!
