An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court in Ekiti State, yesterday, remanded one Akintunde Omotehinde, 27, in prison custody for allegedly molesting his 60-year-old mother.

Prosecutor Ebenezer Ewuola told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 23, in Ajebamidele Area of Ado-Ekiti.
He claimed that the accused ‘forcefully and unlawfully’ had carnal knowledge of his mother, which led to her being hospitalised.
He added that on the same date, the accused assaulted and inflicted injuries on one, Isiaka Ojo, who attempted to separate him from his mother during the act.
He said the offence contravened Section 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor said he had sent his case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, for legal advice.
The accused plea was not taken.
The magistrate, Mrs Patricia Ajibade, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody, pending the DPP’s legal advice and adjourned the case till October 16.

Residents of Akenzua Street inBenin City woke up on Monday to find a 25- year old man inside a locked tomb of one Emmanuel Obasogie Obayuwana without any visible signs of break in or entry. The man, who was dressed in red, wore white hand gloves and tied a red cloth on his forehead.

He was found sitting on the grave and stained clothings were found inside a wooden box with him. Some spiritualists and pastors who were invited to pray against whatever evils the man brought were afraid of going inside to bring the man out of the tomb after the first son of the deceased, Isaac, brought the keys.
Eyewitnesses said they were afraid of going near the man inside the tomb for fear of possible spiritual attack.

It was gathered that some chiefs from the Oba of Benin Palace later came to take the unknown man away.
Isaac said he has been holding the keys to his father’s tomb for over 11 years. He said, “The place was locked. I don’t know his mission in my father’s graveside. He was taken to the palace. We don’t know him from anywhere and how he got inside the locked house remains a mystery.”

Uchenna whose journey originated from Pakistan was found to have ingested narcotics during routine search of passengers on Etihad flight at the arrival hall of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos. NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport, Hamza Umar said that the suspect excreted 100 wraps of substances that tested positive for heroin weighing 1.700kg.
“While he was under observation, Nweke Livinus Uchenna excreted 100 wraps of heroin. He has provided useful information that the investigation team are working on” Hamza stated.
The suspect who is married with a child said that he is heavily indebted. “I was a successful dealer of bicycle parts until I lost 9 million naira to fraudsters in 2009.
That was the beginning of my problems. As I speak, I am heavily indebted to the extent that I am afraid to switch on my cell phones. My brother is also bedridden for three years and they look unto me for assistance. I feel sad that I am in this condition.

A former member of the National Assembly, Sen. Daniel Saror, has criticized the prolong strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) describing it as `unfortunate’.
Saror told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday that the development would impact negatively on the education sector especially the undergraduates.
“This is causing a lot of discomfort and inconvenience to parents and children. Government should resolve the impasse immediately in the interest of the students,’’ he said.
The lawmaker who represented Benue North-East Senatorial Zone between 1999 and 2007 urged the government to meet ASUU’s demands by releasing N200 billion to them.
“ A N100 billion a year is of no value because it will not do anything to turn the situation around the university system’’ he said.
Saror, a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,  regretted that other African countries no longer send their citizens to school in Nigeria due to incessant strikes.
He stressed that more needed to be done in the education sector not only the universities but in other sections of the sector.
Members  ASUU have been on strike for the past three months demanding the implementation of the terms agreements it reached with government since 2009.
The Federal Government had released N130 billion for the payment of some allowances and meeting the infrastructural needs of the universities.

A Chicago woman was jailed after being accused of picking up a stranger in her car and forcing him to have s*x with another woman in the back of the vehicle.
Cierra Ross, a 25-year-old resident of suburb Olympia Fields, was charged with armed robbery and s*xual assault stemming from the alleged crime, according to DNA Info.
Ross was booked Sept. 5 at the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, where she is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to police records.
Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Pillsbury told a Chicago judge in court on Thursday that the alleged incident began around 5 a.m. on the morning of July 26 when Ross offered the victim a ride, reports DNA Info. After he got into the car, however, Ross pulled a gun and “demanded [he] get into the backseat of the car and have s*x with [her] friend,” Pillsbury said, according to the site.

 
The man eventually escaped and — wearing only his shirt – flagged down a nearby cab, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The cab driver allowed the victim to email himself a picture of his alleged attackers’ license plate. The victim also later picked Ross out of a line-up, per the Sun-Times.
Ross, a mother of two who works at a local Denny’s restaurant, has a previous misdemeanor conviction for prostitution, according to the Sun-Times.
In a similar case in April, a Toronto man told police he was s*xually assaulted by four women who offered to drive him home from a nightclub, according to the National Post.
Female-on-male r*pe is “presumed to be greatly under-reported,” writes Salon. National studies report anywhere between 1.4 and 3 percent of men say they have been defiled at some point, according to The New York Times. Another one in 21 men “had been forced to penetrate an acquaintance or a partner, usually a woman; had been the victim of an attempt to force penetration; or had been made to receive oral s*x,” according to The Times.

A preacher with an evangelical church in Kenya’s Nakuru County was shocked when a prostituté he picked up for s*x told him she was a member of his congregation.
The preacher, 56, picked the woman along Club Road, Nakuru at around midnight last Friday before driving off with her in his car.
The preacher, who was disgraced in 2000 after his contact with someone’s wife was exposed, picked her up seeking a date, a common euphemism among prostitutés for s*xual contacts.
“For s*x, I mean that’s why he picked me, that’s what I do, I’m a prostituté,” she said.
The woman said after they ‘transacted business’ in his posh car she revealed to him that she was a member of his church and he was shaken and pleaded with her not to expose him to other members of the church.

 
The lady of the night said she got an extra Sh20,000 up from the Sh500 so as to keep her mouth shut.
In 2000, the preacher was disgraced after he was found in a compromising position with the wife of a member of his congregation.

The Katsina State Police Command says it has arrested two men for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl to death in Sandamu town of the state.
The state Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Senchi, told reporters on Monday in Katsina that the girl died few hours after the incident on Sept. 8.
Senchi said that the deceased was allegedly lured into the act while on an errand to a relation’s home.
He said the girl had complained of headache to her parents when she returned and was directed by her mother to go to bed.
According to Senchi, the parents immediately reported the matter to the police in Sandamu when they noticed blood stain on her pant.
“The girl was taken by the police to the General Hospital Daura, where she later died.
“On investigation by the state CID, doctors at the hospital said the deceased was raped,” Senchi said.
He said that two men had been arrested in connection with the incident.
In another development, the command also confirmed the arrest of the seven men who allegedly raped and impregnated a 12-year-old girl in Malumfashi Local Government area of the state.
Senchi said the suspects had allegedly confessed to have had segxwal intercourse with the girl.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police added that the cases would soon be charged to court.
Senchi appealed to parents not to send their little children, especially girls, on errands unaccompanied.

A 34-year-old Emmanuel Joseph has been arrested by the police at Elemoro Division, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, after he battered a labourer for allegedly refusing to give him a N3,000 bribe.

A suspected fake soldier was charged before a Tinubu Magistrate’s court, Lagos on a five-count charge of felony to wit, assault occasioning harm, stealing and impersonation.
The severely injured victim, James Ihonde, a native of Benin City, Edo State, southsouth Nigeria, who now is at hospital, told the police about what had happened: “I went to Hi-Tech yard to eat in a canteen and I met a man in military uniform with his friend inside the canteen. I requested for food from the owner of the canteen.
“Suddenly the man in the military uniform barked at me and said I have no respect for the Nigerian Army and that I was supposed to salute him, a military man, before requesting for food inside the canteen.
He later said I must pay him and his colleague the sum of N3,000 as bribe before I could eat food in the canteen.
Immediately I replied that he has no right to challenge me inside the canteen, the man and his friend descended on me and beat me with military belt and wood.
They stripped me naked and inflicted injuries on my two eyes and parts of my body.
They stole my handset, the N4,000 in my pocket and the sum of N6,000 belonging to the owner of the canteen.
They later demanded for the sum of N3,000 from me as bribe before they could allow me to go and treat myself.
Residents in the area contributed the money and gave it to them before they abandoned me and left the scene.”
After the incident, the police officers traced the suspect to a beer parlour and arrested one of them.
During interrogation, Emmanuel Joseph, the arrested suspect, confessed to the crime and denied being a military officer.
When asked about the military camouflage uniform he was wearing, Joseph said that he wears the uniform to cheat members of the public because he was jobless.
“I am not a soldier. I wear the military camouflage to harass and intimidate people and dispossess them of their belongings to survive since I am jobless.
I learnt the military tactics when I attended a military secondary school in Akure, Ondo State. I regret my actions,” he allegedly told the police.
The offences the suspect committed, said the prosecutor, Supol A. C. Orji, contravened sections 409, 171,285 and 77a of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs. S. K Matepo, admitted him on bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 24 September, 2013 for mention, while the defendant was taken to Ikoyi Prisons pending when he will fulfil the bail conditions.
