on: 14-10-2013 11:45 AM
| Ex-militant leader, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, who got to National prominence by claiming that he was fighting for the people of the Niger Delta is now singing a new song. As part of the fall out of the Amnesty programme he got a fat contract from President Goodluck Jonathan's government worth billions. He has now established his own University in Benin Republic and many are complaining that the Niger Delta people are still poor but Asari and other militants leaders are living large. gathered that the ex-militant is not ready to listen to such complains. Asari said he doesn't owe the Niger Delta people accountability. In his words: “I don’t owe anybody. I have nothing to put back anywhere. I worked hard and made my fortune mainly from outside the Niger Delta and Nigeria." In a post he made on CKN Nigeria blog on Saturday night, while reacting to criticisms that greeted news of his new university, Asari said he is helping people, hence no one should accuse him. "I do what I am doing - impacting on the lives of people around me because I owe that to myself,” he wrote. He said: “I have never stolen in my entire 50 years. I have never been elected into any government office to appropriate resources on behalf of the people. Even when I was appointed as a member of the Rivers state Muslim pilgrim welfare board....I left the board without a stain.” However, some Niger Deltans are saying since Asari got his contract he is getting richer at their expense Click HERE for more hot stories check out more entertainment gists HERE | | |

on: 14-10-2013 10:59 AM
| Leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) complain of receiving death threats by phone messages and start to go underground for fear of their lives. Photo: ASUU President This was made known in a statement titled “ASUU strike: Union leaders go underground” made by ASUU, University of Ibadan (UI) chapter, signed by Dr Olusegun Ajiboye. According to the claims, union leaders are being tailed by unknown elements suspected to be security agents involved by the Federal Government. The extract from the statement reads as follows: “Apart from the issue of finance (referring to withdrawn salaries) ASUU leaders are now being trailed all over the place. Majority of our union leaders have now gone underground while many have their telephone lines bugged. Some are now living in fear for their lives. “The position of ASUU is that Nigeria is a democratic country and citizens are guaranteed freedom of association. Members of the union are apprehensive for the lives of their leaders. We urge the government to leave our leaders alone." Ajiboye urged the Federal Government to focus on implementing the 2009 agreement, which was reached with the Union. He also asked Inspector Mohammed Abubakar, General of Police, to take care of the lives of ASUU leaders. Click HERE for more hot stories/url]

Forum / The Buzz Central / "segxwal Harassment Chased Me Out Of The Movie Industry" - Nigerian Singer Reveal |
on: 14-10-2013 10:56 AM
| photo Gospel singer, Gloria Doyle, back in the days, made more name because of her outrageous dress style than her music. She talks about her failed marriage and her music career in a recent interview; You are now marketing a hotel; have you left your music career? No. I have not left it. A friend of mine runs the hotel and I only help out to market it. We are trying to create awareness. Now that you are into hospitality business, is it not taking your time?If I tell you that it is not taking my time, I would be lying. It is taking my time but I am enjoying it. I will still go back to the studios. My fans are saying that they need something from me. photo
There was a time your outrageous dressing stood you out. Is that chapter closed?
I am almost a grandmother. I am now a minister who ministers in churches. I now tell people that I have been there before. I am more mature now. Then, I think of my kids too. I need to put them into consideration as well. Back then, you didn’t care at all, you didn’t consider these stuffs you are mentioning now. I no even ‘send anybody’ even at the moment. It is just that I am more mature now. How come you never acted?Actually, I was auditioned last month. I was in the movie industry a long time ago. I did quite a number of movies before I left the industry because of segxwal harassment. It was terrible. Some people felt I left because I couldn’t act. But that was a lie. I did some very good movies. Producers would tell me they would want to star me in a particular movie but I should come to a hotel first. I felt these were people I ordinarily wouldn’t have anything to do with them if not because of entertainment. They were now calling the shots and because you were desperate to become a star, you would give in. But I couldn’t do that. If you know your worth, you would definitely scale through. However, I invested my time writing movies. I am not a desperate person. I have the face. I was able to make my name. But I didn’t get to this level out of desperation. My greatest concern now and which has made me proud are my kids. Do we see you getting married again, ever?I am going to be a grandmother soon. Honestly, I was discussing this with somebody the other day. The person was telling me that I need to get married. My family tells me that I need to get married. Everybody is telling me that I need to get married. If you get me a husband, I will get married. I am not going husband-hunting. Some people carry it like a placard ‘I am looking for husband’ written on it. But that is not me. I am not desperate. I don’t want to do things out of desperation. If husband will come, he will come. For now, it is not my priority. Click HERE for more hot stories/url]

Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Exclusvie: Cultist shoots man in Shomolu ahead of EID celebrations |
on: 14-10-2013 10:45 AM
| Just as many are anticipating the week-long Sallah celebrations, the family of late Mr Azeez Ibrahim wouldn’t be taking part in this sacred event joyfully as they hoped- An indiscriminate shooting in Shomolu area of Lagos led to the death of their own ward; who was shot in the arm, and died some hours later in a gutter infront of his residence. Recently, the people of Shomolu have been experiencing recurring fights between cult members within the vicinity, with robbery activities also present; it has been torrid times for them. Ibrahim, whom many observed to be friendly and warm, ended up being the victim of this rather irrelevant cult blitzkrieg. On that night, October 11, the victim was apparently heading out of his home to buy something, unknown to him that it was his last night on earth. According to a close source who witnessed the tragic event, the bandits drove into his street and started shooting sporadically, and one of the live bullets met Mr Azeez on his arm, very close to a gutter. Due to the excruciating pain from the wound, he opted to fall into a nearby gutter to avoid being hit by another bullet. That move was indeed fruitless, as he ended up hitting his nose on the tarmac before falling into the chute. Albeit, he didn’t die immediately from that collision, the late discovery of his body by the concerned searchers resulted to his death. He was discovered 3 hours after being shot. Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / 21 Killed In Attacks On Benue Communities By Suspected Fulani Herdsmen |
on: 14-10-2013 10:10 AM
| Separate attacks on Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen claimed 21 lives over the weekend. The Benue communities that were attacked include Apera, Gberija, Tse Pilla, Uchagh, Ukaha, Atenger, Agema and Agule in Guma where six persons were killed while another 15 were killed at Oguchi-Ankpa in Agatu local government area by the invaders. A source from Guma local government council said, “They marched into our villages from Awe in Nasarawa State and passed through Damko before invading and burning down eight villages in Guma local government. “Unfortunately, the herdsmen stormed the affected villages when most men had gone to their farms and since we thought that the persistent crisis had been settled by both the Benue and Nasarawa state governments, we were not prepared for the surprise attack. “They killed six of our people who were mostly women, because they were at home preparing meals for their husbands and children who had gone to their farms at the time of the attack. “Several persons were seriously injured while many are still missing as at today and no one has a clue as to their whereabouts. “In fact this latest attack has brought to the fore the need for both the Benue and Nasarawa state governments to take a closer look at overhauling the security apparatus operating on the border between the two states,” he said. Meanwhile, Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam has charged the people of the state to be vigilant and report suspicious movements in the communities to security agencies, following the weekend invasion of Benue communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen. Speaking yesterday at the Catholic Church, Oshigbudu after inspecting the damage at Enogaje, one of the communities earlier attacked by the marauders, Suswam urged the people to “be security conscious and report suspicious movements to the relevant security agencies”. | | |

on: 14-10-2013 09:27 AM
| We have exclusively gathered that Lagos state governor Babatunde Raji Fashola who is currently in the US has picked up Pa Kasumu's phone number from one of the various Blackberry broadcasts making rounds on the actor's health condition. We gathered that the benevolent governor who also took care of Ngosi Nwosu's medical bill months back has gotten in touch with the actor. And as if that is not enough, Pa Kasunmu has also been transferred to an expensive private hospital in Ikoyi on the order of the Governor, so as to give the actor the best medical attention he needs. Pa Kasunmi has been on admission at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital before now. Click HERE for more hot stories/url]
