it is sad that journalists never miss an opportunity to sensationalise issues, thereby uneccessarily heating up the polity. can the primaries not be viewd as a friendly contest, a family affair, whereby the winner and the loosers can find a reason to work together for the common good?

THUS FAR, HISTORY HAS TAUGHT US THAT, TO TAKE A FEW EXAMPLES: CORRUPTION, TRIBALISM, GREED, AND TYRANNY HAVE ONLY BROUGHT UNPLEASANT CONSEQUENCES UPON US AS A NATION AND PEOPLE. THESE AND OTHER PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED. MOST NIGERIANS SHARE FRIENDSHIP, LOVE, AND MARRIAGES WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE THEIR TRIBES, CAN THIS FACTOR NOT BE EXPLOITED TO WATER DOWN TRIBALISM? ON THE OTHER HAND WE ALL CLAIM TO HATE THE SITUATION ON GROUND, CAN WE NOT INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY BEGIN TO WORK TO CHANGE IT? LASTLY, LEADERS ARE THE PRODUCT OF A SOCIETY, IS IT NOT TIME WE BEGAN CULTIVATING A GENERATION THAT WILL BLOSSOM INTO THE KIND OF LEADERS WE YEARN FOR? NOBODY CAN FLATLY ASSERT THAT NIGERIANS ARE BAD PEOPLE, SO LET US BRING OUR GOOD QUALITIES TO BEAR ESPECIALLY ON GOVERNANCE, FOR OUR COMMON GOOD.  YES WE TOO CAN. GOD BLESS NIGERIA

The problem is that of values. Nigerians do not have any values whatsoever, and worse still the life of any Nigerian is very cheap- yes- from the president to the least. Untill we realise that we have no other country but Naija, and that religion, tribe, sex and political affiliations are mere accidentals of life, we will continue in this vicious circle of blind hate.
