81  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / "How I Sold Pasuma’s Range Rover Sport For N950,000" - Armed Robbery Gang Leader on: 8-11-2013 08:00 AM
Kasali Adegoke, the leader of the armed robbery gang that robbed popular fuji musician, Wasiu Alabi aka Pasuma, of his 2006 Range Rover Sport, says he sold the vehicle for N950,000.
A search on the Internet by our correspondent, however, suggested that used version of the vehicle sells for N3.5m, while a new one costs between N8m and N9m.
The 32-year-old, who is currently in detention at the Special Anti Robbery Squad, Ogun State, said he sold the car to a receiver at Cotonou.
He said, "I have a receiver at Cotonou who usually calls to place orders for any type of vehicle that he wants. Before we stole Pasuma's car, my buyer had already told me that he wanted a Range Rover Sport. We were just on the lookout for possible victims when we noticed Pasuma's car."
Although based in Ogun State, Adegoke said he usually comes to Lagos to steal choice vehicles.
On the night Pasuma was robbed, Adegoke said he was merely roaming the Ahamddiya area of Lagos along with some members of his gang when the musician was sighted.
PUNCH Metro had on May 29 2013, reported that a nine-man gang attacked the fuji artiste around 9pm, while he was on his way to a show.
Pasuma, who was dispossessed of other valuables in addition to his car, was said to have hidden his face from the robbers while the ordeal lasted. He was dumped in a bush near Ota, Ogun State after being stripped down to his underwear.
Adegoke said, "While he was with us, we had no idea that he was Pasuma. We did not recognise him. It was the next day that we realised that it was Pasuma car we snatched the previous night when the news was all over town.
"By that time, the car was already in Cotonou. We drove it that same night to a border town in Ogun State where one of the receiver's boys was waiting to drive it back to Cotonu. We were paid N950,000."
Despite a deformed left hand, Adegoke confessed to having killed over seven policemen during his six-year career as a robber.
The police added that his eight man gang had killed over 20 people.
"I was badly burned as a baby; I was just 13 days old when someone threw a burning material through the window on my bed. By the time I was rescued, the left side of my face and my left hand were badly burned.
"Despite the handicap, I was able to master the art of shooting with an assault rifle. I would rest the gun on the ground while I loaded it and would support it with my deformed hand while I shot," he said.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police Mr. IKemefuna Okoye, had last Monday, paraded Adegoke along with three other suspects in Abeokuta.
Led by the SARS Officer-in-Charge, Mohammed Tijani, Adegoke was reportedly arrested in the Obele area, a border town between Nigeria and Benin Republic. He was said to have been critically injured in a shoot out with the police.
Adegoke reportedly led the SARS team to arrest other members of his gang at their hideout in the Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos State.
Okoye had said that the gang members had confessed to killing the former South West Coordinator and Ogun State Commander of the Vehicle Inspection Officer, Mr. Yomi Bamgbose, in 2011, as well as the killing of five policemen attached to the Quick Response Squad at the Ijemo Agbadu and Mowe/Ibafo areas one year ago.
The gang was also said to have allegedly killed about 11 policemen in Kwara and Lagos states and were responsible for the death of five policemen in the Imeko area of Ogun State, in a bullion van attack in September 2011.
They were also said to be responsible for the killing of four members of the Ogun State Vigilance Service and three filling station attendants in Ifo last June.

82  Forum / The Buzz Central / MAVIN Records Releases Official Statement On Wande Coal's Exit on: 7-11-2013 06:32 PM
MAVIN records has released an official statement in regards to Wande Coal's exit from the label.

Read statement below:

An official statement from Mavin Records regarding Wande Coal's exit from the label...
It is with deep regret that we officially announce the departure of recording artist Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, from Mavin Records due to irreconcilable differences.
Over the past few months, Mavin Records has made a concerted move to consolidate its position in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin has pursued a renewed ethos to raise its standards of quality and professionalism to a world-class level. Wande's vision has not aligned with ours and a few months ago all parties mutually agreed that a separation would be the best course of action.
Legal parties on both sides have spent the past six months trying to reach an amicable solution in terms of musical property rights. However the decision by Wande Coal to release 'Baby Face' purportedly as his own material is a direct breach of intellectual property law and compelled an immediate clarification on our part.
Both Mavin Records and Wande Coal have enjoyed a remarkable run in the course of their working relationship. It is unfortunate that conflicting priorities contributed to the premature curtailment of a hitherto fruitful accord.
Mavin Records reaffirms its goal to constantly provide high quality music to our fans and introduce new and exciting talent into the industry.
We wish Wande Coal the best of luck in all his future endeavours.
Signed

83  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / I've never had plastic surgery - JLO replies plastic surgeon on: 6-11-2013 10:12 PM
A renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Al-Ayoubi, posted the photos above(JLO in 1990 & now) and claimed she had had surgery. He wrote"These before and after pics of @JLo show many signs of #plasticsurgery - naturally pretty but now looks amazing."
JLo's fans took to twitter to abuse him calling him fake. She also tweeted at him denying any plastic surgery and to my surprise the obviously scared doctor blamed it on his poor assistant .lol
Worthy of note is her classy rebuttal. She didn't need to call him names.

Three persons have been arrested by the Enugu state police command for allegedly robbing a parish priest of Immaculate conception catholic church, Ugboezeji Abakpa in Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The suspects identified as Echezona Goodluck, Nwode Obinna and Onyeka Nnaji, were said to have robbed one Rev. Fr. Dan Nwafor Ani at the parish.
According to report, they invaded the residence of the priest who was resting on his bed, stripped him off his shirt and used it to tie his hands and mouth. After which, they carted away with a huge sum of money which the church realized from an event.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrest, revealed that the key suspect, Nwode Obinna who was a member of the church convinced his other two accomplices to join him in robbing the Reverend Father, after he heard that the church made a lot of money from a recent event.
One of the suspects, Onyeka Nnaji provided the locally made guns which they used for the robbery which took place on 4/11/13 at about 10 p.m.
When report of the robbery got to the police, commissioner of police Abubakar Adamu Mohammed quickly mobilized operatives of the distress call base of the command. The operatives trailed the hoodlums who tried to resist by firing shots, but the operatives made sure that the hoodlums submitted to their superior fire power, thereby arresting them and recovering the money as well as arms.
“One of the suspects, Echezona is begging for forgiveness, claiming that it was bad company that led him into the mess, while he also advised that youths should shun crime and criminality.
Another suspect, Onyeka Nnaji, said it was not his intention to commit the crime but frustrations and he pleaded that the priest should beg God to forgive him.
However, the priest thanked God for not allowing the boys to shoot him and also thanked the police for their prompt intervention which led to the arrests and recoveries”.

87  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / BLOODY CLASH: 2 Killed, 8 Injured In Lagos on: 6-11-2013 08:15 AM
There was pandemonium in Ajah area of Lagos State, between Monday and yesterday as two people were  killed while 8 eight others were injured during a fracas.
It was gathered that some Ilaje and Ajah  youths, respectively, fought themselves over collection of tolls in the area.
The hoodlums armed with cutlasses, daggers, iron rods, bottles, among other weapons unleashed mayhem in the area.
Some innocent people were reportedly injured during the fracas.
A man who identified himself as Kunle Akingbala alleged that one of the deceased identified as Oriofe Olulana was allegedly stabbed to death.
Akingbala said his corpse was also taken to the police station in the area.
Akingbala alleged that the crisis started when some hoodlums suspected to be Ilaje settlers insisted that their share in the collection of tolls and levies should be given to them.
“Police should come to the aid of the people living here. Our lives are no longer save. The Ilaje and Ajah youths are fighting over tolls collection and levies. They fought themselves with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, daggers, iron rods, broken bottles, just name it. I even heard that one party came with gun. The Ilaje wanted their own share of the money but the Ajah youths insisted that the Ilajes are strangers and did not have any right to demand for such.” Akingbala alleged.
A man who identified himself simply as Kunle said one of the Ajah youths was killed by the Ilajes and they had to retaliate the next day (yesterday).

88  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / PHOTO: A Little Boy Born With 34 Fingers And Toes on: 6-11-2013 08:00 AM
A little boy stunned medics after being born with 34 fingers and toes, Akshat Saxena had seven fingers on each hand and ten toes on each foot — but no thumbs.

Mum Amrita said: “I was so happy to see my baby as it was our first child. But later, when I saw his fingers, I was shocked and surprised.”

She said: “He read on the internet about the baby born in China. Then he said that my boy has broken the record of having 34 fingers.

“At first I was not convinced at all. It was hard to believe that my son has broken the record. “But later, he along with my husband and younger sister registered the data on the internet.”

The previous record holder was a six-year-old boy in China who had 15 fingers and 16 toes amounting to 31 digits.

Akshat, from Uttar Pradesh, northern India, has since had surgery to remove the excess digits which supposedly results from a condition known as polydactyl as and doctors are trying to construct thumbs from thel fingers they amputated.

90  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / ASUU Strike To End Next Week on: 6-11-2013 07:45 AM
There are strong indications that the protracted strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, that has crippled academic activities for over four months may end in the next one week.
Sources at the Monday night meeting between the Federal Government led by President Goodluck Jonathan, the leadership of ASUU, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, said both the Federal Government and leaders of ASUU had shifted grounds and leaders of ASUU would meet with its organ (National Executive Council) to brief members of the outcome and then take necessary action.
One of the sources said: “Both the Federal Government and the leadership of ASUU are now on the same page. Both parties have shifted grounds. The leadership of ASUU will now meet with its appropriate organ to brief its members and take the necessary action.

“ASUU is in the right position to inform the public after meeting with its organ. However, I can tell you that all things being equal, the strike should be over in the next one week.”
The meeting between the government and the labour leaders started at about 2:30pm on Monday and ended at about 3:30am on Tuesday with a 15 minutes break.

91  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Man Stabs His Friend To Death For Sleeping With His Wife on: 6-11-2013 07:42 AM
A middle-aged man identified as Wasiu Yusuf has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his bosom friend, Adeolu Olatoye,  to death for having clandestine relationship with his wife.
It was gathered that the incident which occurred at Oke-Efon area of  Abeokuta, Saturday  night,  was reportedly  carried out by the  suspect and one  accomplice identified as Mukaila, said to be on the run as at the time of this report.
It was further gathered that the suspect lost his temperament when he reportedly caught  his 32 -year-old  friend  with his wife on the day of the incident on his matrimonial bed.
The suspect, according to the findings, laid siege for the victim who reportedly came  to his house, and in the ensuing scuffle, the victim erroneously stabbed himself.
But another version of the story had it that, the victim had gone to his friend’s house to drop an invitation card of his mother’s 80th birthday scheduled  for Saturday when the friend attacked him with bottles.
Adeolu, a graphic artist, met his death barely two weeks after he held the naming ceremony of his child.
His remains had been  deposited at the State Hospital Mortuary at Ijaiye, Abeokuta, as police await the autopsy report.
Contacted, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident and arrest of the suspect, adding that investigation was ongoing.

92  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / ASUU will call off its strike soon, says Mark!! on: 5-11-2013 01:38 AM
Senate President David Mark yesterday met with officials of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), with the hope of prevailing on them to return to the classroom.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, the Senate President said there were indications that the four-month-old industrial dispute would soon be resolved.
Mark said ASUU officials decried the lingering crisis, which has taken its toll on the nation.
Mark spoke in Abuja during a meeting with ASUU leaders, led by the union’s President, Dr Nasir Fagge.
Those at the meeting included Prof Festus Iyayi, Dr. Dipo Fashina, Prof Abdullahi Sule-Kano, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, Prof Victor Osodeke, Dr. A. B. Baffa, Prof Suleiman Abdul, Dr. Victor Igbum and Mr. Michael Odunmorayo.
The Senate President noted that the strike had brought hardship to students, parents and the lecturers.
He said: “It is time we resolve this matter in the interest of the nation.
“This is not a case of winners or losers. It is not a matter of ego. National interest is at stake. We must do all that is necessary to resolve this matter so that students and teachers can return to classrooms.
“Nobody is happy about the strike, which is in its fourth month. Nobody is happy that our education system is threatened by this ugly development. Let us end this strike for good.”
Dr Fagge said the struggle was necessitated by the need to improve the infrastructure and learning environment in universities.
He said the striking lecturers wished to produce graduates who could be as good as their counterparts in other parts of the world.
The union leader stressed that the strike did not profit the lecturers but was a needed sacrifice for the government to do the right thing in the Education sector.
He said: “We are not just lecturers; we are also parents and students. So, the strike is also affecting us negatively.”
The meeting later went into a closed-door session for about two-and-a-half hours.
The University of Jos (UNIJOS) chapter of the ASUU has said it is not against a dialogue with the Federal Government.
But it said the strike lingered for over four months because of the government’s high-handedness.
The union stressed that its dialogue with the government would have been fruitful, if the government had respected the agreement it signed with the union in 2009 as well as acted on the NEEDS Assessment Report.
A joint statement by the UNIJOS Chairman of the union, Dr. David Jangkam, and the Secretary, Dr. Wamnang, said: “Anything contrary or not based on a clear acceptance of the framework for implementing the 2009 agreement and NEEDS Assessment Report will be an imposition which will not be the solution to the present crisis.”
The statement added that the agreements were well documented and could not be jettisoned under any guise.
The UNJOS-ASUU urged President Goodluck Jonathan to follow the principles of the agreement to resolve the face-off, instead of applying high-handed tactics.
It hailed ASUU’s national leadership for sticking to its guns on the strike.
