Operatives of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigerian Police with the help of police from Benin Republic have arrested a 32-year-old driver, Festus Chiukwuemeka, for allegedly stealing his employer's $50,000 and absconding.

Festus who was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic was a staff of a Lagos-based Bureau de Change firm, Westron Finance Limited, where he allegedly stole the money and fled on 21 January, 2014.
According to the PPRO of the unit, DSP Ngozi Isintume-Agu, the suspect is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of Abia State University and hails from Umuoma Okpofe Ezinihite Mbaise in Imo State.
Agu said the police traced the suspect to Cotonou, Benin Republic, after the Managing Director of Westron Finance Limited wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police, SFU, and sought for assistance, alleging that his driver had absconded with the $50,000 he sent him to purchase from the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos for business transaction.
The suspect was arrested when he was trying to purchase a Hiace bus with part of the stolen money.
The suspect, during interrogation allegedly confessed to the crime saying it was the handwork of the devil and also greed that pushed him to steal the money, admitting that part of the money was with his wife at a village in Idiroko border area of Ogun State.
The driver led the police to the village, where his wife identified as Blessing, was arrested and they recovered the sum of $15,000 and CF2, 620,000  from her.
The PPRO, Agu said the suspect will be charged to court after investigation.

2  Forum / The Buzz Central / GRAPHIC PHOTOS: Doctors Miss 2 Brain Tumors Of Patient And Now He Suffers on: 10-03-2014 05:57 PM

Wrapped in bandages 19-year-old Stuart Hutchison had undergone laser-guided surgery to remove a brain tumour after the doctors had failed twice to spot the dangerous tumors.
The young patient confesses being disappointed with his doctors, characterizing the situation as "shocking".
When he first fell back in May 2011, the doctors at Clackmannanshire Community Healthcare Centre in Alloa blamed his headaches and dizziness on an ear infection.
However, Stuart's condition was quickly deteriorating and soon he was barely able to walk, slurred speech and could not use his right arm.

The patient's parents rushed the boy, who could die that very day, to the hospital where a scan revealed a huge brain tumour.
He survived after 2 surgeries and 33 radiotherapy sessions and was recovering.
But in January he discovered a fresh tumour near his brain surgery scar, which an A&E doctor at Forth Valley Royal Hospital said was ‘just a cyst’.
The family, recalling their bad experience, turned to another doctor for a second opinion. It turned out that the bou had one more "missed" tumor, which was removed last week.

Its march..I can remember the 1st week of january, we spent it discussing school, how much we wanted it to be soon..but how far it was..all our documents..we talked about whatever it was that would make us feel closer to school..make us feel like college students..but one thing hovered-Time. Twas such a long time..3 months..but march is here..and though we have only one week of it in Benin..its still march..the month that's been running through our minds.

I'd say happy new month..nd happy new month..but I think I want to say a prayer..now my prayers with God is usually like a "Dialogue" not a monologue. I've seen my friends nd what they've become in the past year..nd how much they want me sucked into their kind of life..but I don't think I want it..nah..now I'm not judging them..but I still don't want it..I guess I'm still old fashioned..but I happen to love it. Now as we were saying..my prayer WiTh God..I told Him to keep me away from temptation..I begged Him not to let me go near the kind of life that's nw the "IT" life.

I've asked Him to keep away the boys that mother calls "destroyer of destiny", I've asked for good health..I've asked for the gift of life for me nd my family..I've asked for fun..I've asked that He makes my darling father nd awesome mother proud of me..more than anything I've asked for ME. What have u asked for. Its not just a new month..its the time in which you discover who you are.. Who wil u be. I hope to God that hypocrisy doesn't become a part of me..

We are entering an entirely new world..nd I'm scared shitless(pardon my language)lol...my sister told me,make sure you are not leaving home because u want to escape what is here..leave for the right reason..nd now I believe I'm leaving for the right reason..but I'll miss home. Its the University of Benin. What have u asked God for. What is that one reckless thing you've been wanting to do..make wise mistakes.. Have a good March.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Mohammed Adamu, who confirmed the incident, one of the alleged attackers, Ifeanyi Chukwuma, from Anambra State, shot during the attack, was still receiving treatment at a hospital.
Those arrested in connection with the crime are: Shedrack Onwuka, Francis Nwokocha and Sunday Okafor, all indigenes of Anambra State.
The detained men confessed that "they were invited by some people to go to Enugu and hoist Biafra flags". However, the motive is still not clear.

6  Forum / Politics / There’ll be violence if Jonathan seeks re-election – Tunde Bakare on: 10-03-2014 05:15 PM

Convener of Save Nigeria Group (SNG), Tunde Bakare, has predicted that the Northern part of the country will erupt in violence if President Goodluck Jonathan decides to seek re-election for another four-year term in office.

But he added that the Niger Delta militants on their part would resume hostilities in the creeks and blow up oil installations if on the other hand the President decides not to contest and the Northerners return to power.

Bakare, Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and running mate to the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Presidential candidate in the 2011 general elections, Muhammadu Buhari, believes that the only viable solution to the possible impasse is for Nigerians to go to the Federal Government’s planned National Conference and “save ourselves of major unprecedented rage”.

He spoke in Lagos at the weekend during an interview with Daily Independent.

On whether the latest rise in terrorist activities in some North East states could be linked to plans by some elements to frustrate the conference, he said Nigerians in their majority must come together and ensure the success of the conference.

He expressed the belief that the conference will proffer a lasting solution to the country’s problems and give hope to Nigerians.

“Anyone can plan evil. But if the majority is still willing and working for this country to move on, we will overcome them. Darkness does not have power to overcome light.

“And don’t let us begin to assume that the increase in tempo of the attacks by Boko Haram is against the national conference. How about the election itself?

“That is why we say let us go to the conference to save ourselves of major unprecedented rage. Because the way it is right now, if President Jonathan decides tomorrow and say ‘I am going to run for election’, the North will boil. If he wins, it is the same, because North has been outside power equation for a long time now.

“Eight years of Obasanjo, four years of Jonathan and in-between, they are just sandwiched two years of late Umaru Yar’Adua.

“So, that could be part of the reason. Especially when the people in the North are feeling deprived and they don’t even know where to direct the attacks. And if Jonathan says ‘I am not contesting’ and the North wins, the boys in the creeks are going to blow all your oil wells. Head they win, tail, you lose,” Bakare noted.

He added: “So, whichever way, we are in trouble. The best solution right now that I can see is that let us go to the conference and let us critically examine these issues and see God helping us if we can rise from the table of brotherhood, proffer solution to Nigeria’s problems and give a better hope to our people. Hope beyond the scope of human limitations”.

Reacting to claims in some quarters that the state of emergency declaration in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states by the President has failed to achieve its desired purpose, giving the latest rise in activities of the Boko Haram sect, Bakare said Jonathan should be commended for taking the bold step, adding that the declaration has greatly reduced the level of destruction in the affected areas.

He also blamed traditional areas in the affected areas for not doing much to identify the terrorists, saying it is high time Nigerians spoke in unison and collaborate with the authorities to rein in the activities of the sect.

“If the emergency declaration has not achieved its desired result, it has tempered the gruesome violence you have seen. It could have been worse.

“Imagine what could have happened if there is no state of emergency there. The Governor will flee, his cabinet will scatter and the people will flee in different directions.

“So, let us give credit where it is due. Are we seeing what we expect to see? Not yet uhuru, but let us continue and let us all work together.

“We should not just blame Mr. President. There are traditional rulers in those domains. Are you telling me they don’t know those operating?

‘Don’t those people buy food? Don’t they go to the market? Don’t they live with people? Don’t they have wives and children? Even if they have isolated themselves, they will still have to go to the market to buy things.

“So, what is going on is more than what any one individual can resolve. I think all hands must be on deck. Traditional rulers and everyone who can influence society must do all they can to bring an end to this evil called Boko Haram,” he said.

And as if to confirm Bakare’s fears, South South chiefs, elders and leaders who met in Abuja on Sunday warned that, “It is mandatory, and not negotiable, for President Goodluck Jonathan to get a second term in office come 2015”.

The meeting also challenged the leaders and elders in the North to stop blaming Jonathan for the festering Boko Haram attacks, but that they themselves (Northern leaders) should find a means of bringing the Boko Haram members to their senses just the way South South leaders curbed the excesses of the Niger Delta militants.

The event was the 2014 induction/inauguration of the board of Trustees (BoT) of the South-South elders, chiefs and leaders.

Speaking at the event, Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, insisted that the rule of natural justice demands that the North supports the second term ambition of Jonathan as the South South had in the past shown loyalty to the North by giving total support to former President Shehu Shagari in the Second Republic.

He noted that the North should not blame anyone for the inability of Shagari to complete his terms, as his second term in office was truncated by a Northerner, Muhammadu Buhari, through a military coup.

Expressing the desire to ensuring that the agenda to re-install Jonathan in 2015 becomes a reality, the South-South leaders, elders and chiefs mandated its BoT headed by former Inspector General (IG) of Police, Mike Okiro, to drive the process of mobilising support for the President in synergy with the executive committee of the South-community.

Clark, who is the grand patron of South-South group, said in Nigeria no community is superior to the other, adding that Abuja, which was developed by the South-South money, does not belong to anybody.

He also took former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the cleaners, saying the former President, described as one of the richest men in Nigeria today, only had N20,000 in his account when he was released from Yola Prisons to contest the 1999 general elections, but that “he’s pretending to be innocent today”.

“I think one of the problems facing us in this country is the issue of settler and indigene. In this country nobody is superior to the other.

“Abuja does not belong to anybody, it belongs to all of us. The money used to develop Abuja came from South-South. Because we are Nigerians, we accepted.

“Nobody owns it more than the other. Anybody is entitled to contest for any election in Abuja. Nobody owns this place.

“The problem with the militants started in 1998. Somebody invited the South-South youths to Abuja and they saw bridges built on land whereas in their waters there are no bridges. They went back and started the militancy.

“Don’t exclude us from the scheme of things, Nigeria belongs to all of us, don’t practice double standard.

“In 1983 we voted en mass for Shagari and he stayed for eight years, it was Buhari who removed him.

“In 1999, they said because of what they did to (Moshood) Abiola, they said they should compensate the South West and Obasanjo was brought out from Yola Prisons and he was only having N20,000 in his account and today he is one of the richest men in Nigeria. And today he is claiming to be innocent.

“We cannot continue to feed this country and we are not ruling the country. When Obasanjo wanted Yar’Adua to become the President he blackmailed everybody.

“Many of the Northerners came to me to say that Jonathan should step down and allow the North to finish their four year-term and I told them you are not well.

“People thought that we from South-South are second class citizens and we say no. When we reply critics, they say we are enemies of Jonathan,” Clark said.

On the issue of security, former Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Felix Oguado, called on the Northern elders to copy from South-South elders, how they were able to convince the militants in the Niger Delta to drop their arms.

“If the elders in the Niger Delta can go to the creek and speak to the militants and they drop their arms, why can’t the elders of the North do same?

“We should stop blaming the government and do something. It is not the best to apportion blame on the government each time something happened. People talk of sharing the cake, but they never talk of how the cake is baked.

“Our foremost challenge now is Boko Haram. Nigeria is a difficult country to govern. No matter who rules there will always be criticism.

“Like the President said, you cannot dialogue with faceless people. The militants were brought to Abuja and they met with President Yar’Adua,” Oguado said.

Coordinator of the group and Chairman Planning Committee, Bello Premier, called for the integration of South-South community in Abuja into the mainstream of social political dynamics of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to accord it appropriate recognition as is the case of other regional group.

7  Forum / The Buzz Central / Why the Presidency Has Appointed a Murder Suspect As Minister? on: 10-03-2014 05:13 PM

The family of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Chief Bola Ige, who was murdered at his home in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, in December, 2001, said that his killers will not find peace.
Muyiwa, son of late Chief Bola Ige, said the family was disappointed by President Goodluck Jonathan’s appointment of Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, a suspect in Ige’s murder, as the Minister of Police Affairs.
Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan and Senator Iyiola Omisore were suspects in the murder, but the case was quashed years later by an Oyo State High Court.
In Lagos at the weekend, Ige's son spoke at a media parley organised by the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Muiz Banire.
Ige's son said that "somebody like Adesiyan" would not be nominated, in the first instance, let alone approved by the National Assembly.
Muyiwa added that the appointment of the minister was more of selection and not of Omoluwabi structure. He mentioned that it is also the first time in Nigeria’s history that three senators from Osun State unanimously rejected the candidate.
Ige's son still calls Omisore the prime suspect because they put him in the same cell with their star witness and when they cross-examined him (the star witness) later, he recanted. "When you put the prime suspect with the star witness in the same cell at Alagbon, definitely something will happen," Muyiwa said.
"Adesiyan’s claim that he was my father’s boy is not true. If he was, he would not have supported an assault on my father or worked with the prime suspect in the trial. Why did he vacate his home with his family after the murder?
"The suspects are now suing us because they were acquitted. They are asking the state and me for N20 billion. The truth of the matter is that they will forever be haunted by Bola Ige’s spirit. They continue to attempt to dance on his grave as Wole Soyinka analysed, but by the grace of God, the truth will be revealed," Muyiwa added.
Ige's son continued: "Adesiyan is working for the president, but he is not representing us in Osun State."
On the probability of using Adesiyan to undermine the conduct of free and fair elections in Osun and Ekiti states, Muyiwa said: "It smacks of a strategy to do something with the election coming up in Ekiti and Osun. They have been saying that the Osun and Ekiti elections are preliminaries to the 2015 general elections.
"With the performance of Governors Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), it will be difficult for them to do anything funny. We know they want to make it a do-or-die affair, but we are on the alert. That is why we must sensitise the citizenry."

10  Forum / The Buzz Central / Top Eight Over Exposed Celebrities In Nigeria on: 10-03-2014 04:53 PM

According to Segun Adekoye - "In this age, everyone has a Blackberry. Everyone has a blog. There are over 5000 entertainment blogs in Nigeria. Everyone wants to break the news but only a few get exclusive content so everyone copy-pastes whether it is true or a lie. In this era, everyone is a celebrity. If you hit the red carpet of events, and a hundred blogs can post your pictures, same pictures and repeat that procedure 4 times in a month, you are a celeb. You can make statements. Fashion statements. You can go to Twitter and start a Tweet war. Dahz all.

The problem with overexposure is that your news does not become news eventually and people go like “oh Tonto.. Now what? Unto the next abeg”. Who are the 8 celebrities in Nigeria who get more press, media attention than they need for their health. In no particular order, Segun Adekoye lists them below.

1. Tonto Dikeh

Tonto Dikeh understands that Nigerian bloggers want news as they are unable to create for themselves, so she gives it to them. She always wants to be in the news. Tonto wants to be seen on TV. She wants to be heard on radio, so she ventured into singing. She wants to be seen on Twitter so she starts Twitter wars and goes controversial. She likes the media attention. She’s making money from it. This is one celeb that overexposure works for and she knows how to handle it.

2. Mercy Aigbe

On Nairaland, on the web, Mercy Aigbe pictures as much as the Google Search results for “Make Money Online”. The funny thing about Mercy Aigbe is that she can take hundred pictures of the same cloth at the same time on the same spot. Then came the issue of husband beating  and the denials and video responses and press releases and ENOUGH of Mercy Aigbe already.

3. Dencia

Who is Dencia? I dunno. A musician who’s in love with her own looks. She loves to pose. She loves wild dresses. She loves to wow. I see pictures of her all over the internet. I think her face is more popular than her voice. I haven’t heard her song before but I heard she’s into music. You think i’m ridiculous. You can say it again.

4. Toke Makinwa

Toke Makinwa, a lady fair and fine. Toke is always on the news. On the red carpets. On her vlog which is becoming more widely accepted. On-air. Toke is practically in your ears, in your face… in your mouth. I believe she enjoys the media attention.

5. Annie Idibia

Annie has always been on the eye of bloggers, but ever since her traditional marriage to Tuface Idibia, she’s been kept even under more scrutiny by the press. Annie Idibia’s outfit to this… Annie Idibia’s outfit to that… Annie Idibia’s wedding dress… Annie Idibia’s wedding invitation. Annie should expect more though. Her overexposure is just about to start. She should check it.

6. Davido

Davido is always hitting the headlines. Either for a questionable pose with a fan in nocturnal circumstances or something else. When he parted ways with his manager, he was the topic for a while. Twitter dissing, singing or photography, Davido should calm down.

7. Tee Billz

Formerly fairly known as the Tiwa Savage’s manager, the tall dark dude has become more exposed than he should ever since he proposed to the “Love me Love me” crooner. Tee Billz has also posted pictures of himself using the toilet in Burj Al Arab in a gesture that signifies he’s realy seeking public attention.

Tiwa Savage Denies Dating Manager Tee Billz

8. Jim Iyke

Even before he started his Jim Iyke Unscripted reality TV show, he had always been in one form or the other on the news. From occassional bouts with Blogger Linda Ikeji to controversial fashion statements he makes such as the one he wore to AMVCA, Jim Iyke should be one of those topping the list.

11  Forum / The Buzz Central / 10 Reasons You Should Take A Break From Sex on: 10-03-2014 04:40 PM

Sex can be incredible, but it can also be the giant, panting, red elephant sitting at the dinner table.
Eliminating sex from the equation for a few months after a breakdown (whether it be of a marriage or otherwise) might be a good way to ease a bit of pressure and spend a little more time getting to know someone — which is especially great if that someone is you.
Here are 10 sexy reasons to take a break:
1. You’re worth far too much to sneak home in last night’s clothes, wondering what that acrobatic person’s last name was.
2. Imagine taking a little longer to get to know someone before you drop your knickers and avoiding that, “Gee, if I knew this last week, I would not have slept with you,” feeling.
3. Contrary to popular belief, sex with someone new does not cure past heartaches. Better to give that heart time to heal before you let someone else in your bed.
4. Yes, sex is yummy but flirtations and segxwal tension can be utterly delicious. Enjoy them a while!
5. You can wear your comfy cotton undies on dates and your date will be none the wiser.
6. There is something to be said about totally selfish self love. Take yourself on dates, wear sexy unmentionables (for your eyes only) and, at the end of the evening, if you’re so inclined, get to know yourself a little better.
7. STDs just love casual sex.
8. You know that pile of clothes in your bedroom that you keep meaning to pick up and wash? Yeah, you don’t have to do that just yet.
9. Finding new ways to get excited and be intimate with yourself or someone new can be incredible. Cooking, dancing, painting, talking, exercising — the possibilities are endless. Get to know your body, your likes and dislikes, things that turn you on and off and heighten your senses in other ways for a while.
10. When it does happen, it will be because you really, really want it to. Now, that’s sexy.

In this latest interview with Nigerian Tribune’s Joan Bajojo Omionawele, Ghanaian actor Van Vicker talked at length about his life as an actor, his marital journey with his wife Adjoa. He also took his time to address his rumoured affair with Chika Ike. Van Vicker finally speaks about his “love affair” with Chika Ike
Interview Excerpt:

You are known for your lover boy roles. Where did you get your good looks from?
I don’t know. I can’t really say if it was my mum or my dad. I would say it was a blend of both of them, because if my mum had been married to someone else or my dad had been married to someone else, the result would probably have been different.

We all know how intense the sun in Ghana is, yet you have remained fair in complexion. Do you have any beauty regimen?
I do get sun-burnt sometimes, not only in Ghana, in Nigeria as well; it depends on the location of the movie I am shooting. But I drink a lot of water and I eat in bits. That’s it.

We have heard so many rumours about you? How do you feel when you hear rumours about yourself?
Many times, I don’t bother about it, because I know it’s one of those things. Sometimes if I can counter or debunk them through my social networks, I do; but people will continue to say such stuff anyway.

How do you handle being a father, husband and an actor?
I don’t think it’s such a big deal. I lead a normal life; I just go about (performing) those roles. When I’m at home, I am at home; and when I am at work, I don’t joke with it. I do things that a normal dad would do. It’s the same with you. I don’t know if you are married, but any person who is married, works and has kids would go home after work and cater for the family. And that’s the same thing I do; there’s nothing extra-crazy about it. When I’m at home, I play with my kids when I’m supposed to.

But when you have to leave home for days and go on set, how do you make up for those times you are away?
Well, usually, when I get back, I try to spend a lot more time with them. We go to the beach or the pool, watch movies, or take a long drive; or we stay at home and play games. I try to make up for so many things.
What do people say about light-skinned guys
You know what they say; I don’t need to tell you.
I don’t know what they say. I’m also light-skinned, so tell me.
Okay, let me not say light-skinned, but the ‘half castes’. People usually say they are bad boys.

And you are not a bad boy?
No, I am not.

You got married quite young. How do you overcome temptations from your close female friends and colleagues?
Well, I mentioned earlier it’s my mindset: keep it professional. I try to be as professional as possible, and you know sometimes, you have to be in a romantic scene with an actress and still keep it professional because that is the beauty of the job. You can actually be romantic and get the viewers to understand that you are actually in love with a particular lady but at the same time, when they say ‘Cut!’ you don’t have any feelings for her.
Have you ever got attracted to any actress you have been on set with?
I don’t think so. The only one I have ever read about was when they said that I broke up Chika Ike’s marriage. I don’t see how that makes sense; but they said I helped to break her marriage.

What about your female fans? How often do they disturb you?
What do you mean by ‘disturb’?

How often do you get calls, mails and tweets from your female fans?
I wouldn’t call it disturbance; they are people who enjoy my work and want to get to know me personally. Yes, I do get calls often, but I try to adjust. I can’t keep up with all of them, so sometimes I just ignore while sometimes, I try to answer their questions and enquiries.
How does your wife handle your female fans?
She is very cool with them. She understands the nature of my job and she is totally in support of what I do. She has the same mind that I have – which is to keep it professional.

Do you have any weakness?
I find it difficult to get angry, even with respect to acting. It is quite difficult for me to get angry while acting because naturally, it takes a lot to get me angry. And when I have to get angry in a movie, it drains me. But in the past three years, I have been able to work on that.

At the just concluded Silverbird ‘Man of the Year Award’,which had ‘heavyweights’ in the entertainment and political circles as well as in the Diaspora, in attendance, ‘Galala Master’, Daddy Showkey, bared his mind on young artistes making waves in the music industry.

In a brief interview with journalists at the occasion, he stated that he will not like to work with young Nigerian artistes, because of their arrogant attitude.

According to him, “Wizkid and the rest of them are very arrogant, I am not sure there will be any music relationship with them, I don’t care.”

19  Forum / Naijapals Base (Metro life) / Oby Ezekwesili: Perfect for Nigeria’s first woman president – By Bayo Oluwasanmi on: 10-03-2014 03:27 PM

Over time, I’ve been deeply moved by the speech and comments of Dr. Oby Ezekwesili which had served as inspiration and hope for a new Nigeria. Given the political wilderness that our nation has been trapped for years, the sense of hope and inspiration generated by Ezekwesili speech at the recent APC Road Map Summit, is even more profound today.
Public service and politics in Nigeria are dominated by professional politicians who are in the business for their own personal gain and power. The time has come to recognize that someone has a special ability to ignite or reignite faith and belief in ourselves, to capture our vision, imagination, and our highest ideals that Nigeria could be a great country.

At a time when our nation is bankrupt of patriotic leaders, when a person with such a rare patriotism comes along, we need to put aside our ethnic and partisan politics and embrace such a person. We have that kind of person in Ezekwesili. In my opinion, none of the aspiring presidential candidates possess the knowledge, experience, strength, passion, patriotism, character, and judgment needed for a change in the leadership of our nation like Ezekwesili. She is perfect to be Nigeria’s first woman president.

Ezekwesili is the Senior Economic Advisor for Africa Economic Development Policy Initiative Open Society Foundation. In this capacity, she is the senior advisor to a number of economy reforming Presidents of African countries and their cabinets on their economic development strategy, policies, and implementation. A former Vice-President of the World Bank, Ezekwesili had served in various capacities in Obasanjo administration as Minister of Education, Minister of Minerals, and Presidential Aide in charge of Public Procurement Reforms.
As expected, Ezekwesili’s address at the APC summit was an inconvenient truth. She couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place to deliver a stirring message. She has been a dignified and honest critic of the government and our political system. She has spoken eloquently about the problems of our country and proffered solutions.

Nigeria needs a president who understands that her responsibility is to articulate a vision and encourage others to achieve same, a president who holds herself and those around her to the highest ethical standards, a president who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved, and a president who appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in Nigeria, and those around the world who still believe that Nigeria is the giant of Africa.

Like all history, the history of our political enterprise will be defined by change. Change has become imperceptible. At other times, change has been bold and dramatic. Great triumphs and historic firsts highlight pioneer’s foray into any endeavor. Ezekwesili as Nigeria’s first woman president would provide experience and impetus for a new group of reformers.

Ezekwesili is not just a Nigerian, she’s a special talent, well-educated with experience rooted in reform backgrounds with specialized training, lengthy resumes and increasingly elective experience. Concerning the issues that faced our nation, Ezekwesili has become a spokesperson or a “surrogate representative” if you will, for all Nigerians. Her belief in the social, political, and economic equality shaped her thoughts and speeches.
She has taken on a special burden to speak for all because we have very few people who could express our concerns and fears adequately and boldly like she does. By honing her messages and by cultivating political action network to support her campaign for political reforms, she has become powerful and a force to be reckoned with.
The best single word to describe Ezekwesili’s address to the APC chieftains might be the word “passion.” Every pioneer needs a passion. Pioneers cannot be satisfied with mere maintenance, for they have nothing yet to maintain. They create from nothing. The common people often view them as eccentrics – but their passion attracts other pioneers.

Ezekwesili boils with passion and this is evidenced in all her speeches, and could hardly stay quiet. She has been a catalyst of fiery controversial speeches on our economy, political arrangement, the ruling elite class, government’s malfeasance and profligacy. She feels consumed with her mission. She possess a magnetic temperament and wiring. Like a magnet, she repels some but attracts a huge following. She possess a strong sense of justice. This hunger of justice drives her – and it shows in her speeches. She feels dissatisfied with anything but action. As a doer, she doesn’t want people to merely talk but act.

Her speech to the APC could be summarized as follows: Leadership means discomfort. If you’re going to be an effective leader, you must live outside your comfort zone. Leadership means dissatisfaction. Dissatisfaction is a tool that moves us to greater things and higher ground. Leadership means disruption. The status quo is never the goal of a leader. Disruption is our constant companion.

Our country is full of needy people, overflowing with men and women who know they’re missing out on something, bursting with hurting individuals who come to us with hands outstretched. Our hard-working, innovative, and imaginative youth have become hopeless, deflated, and disengaged.

A leader owes it as a solemn duty to protect and provide for the needy and the vulnerable in our society. First time ever in this season of a major dollop of alienation and anomie, I have found someone who inspired me and a new generation of Nigerians in Ezekwesili.

In Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, “A great prophet has risen up among us,” and God has visited his people.”

20  Forum / The Buzz Central / SIX MONTHS AFTER: This Is What Has Become Of Late Ajanaku’s Congregation on: 10-03-2014 02:58 PM

Ever since the late Prophet Ireti Ajanaku died, the church (Christ Revival Victory International) he left behind which is now run by his wife, Joy Ajanaku, has not been bubbling like it used to.
Members are said to have deserted the once upon a time buoyant church.
According to checks, the church which used to have over 2,000 members during the late prophet's era can barely boast of 150 members now. This may not be unconnected with the fact that miracle working pastor is no more there to perform miracles for those in need in it.
It was gathered that many left due to the controversies surrounding his death and also speculations of him belonging to a cult.
According to a source, "I wasn’t too happy with the stuff going on there, especially with the way they are going about his death issue. They quarrel with people who admitted that he is dead. We are not fools and everybody knows he has been certified dead, why the confusion? Also, some of his aides have turned the administration of the ministry to politics which I’m not comfortable with."
A source who witnessed the Sunday service few weeks back where Pastor (Mrs.) Joy Ajanaku was the preacher said that over half of the congregation were absent and some of the over hundred members in attendance were sleeping while the sermon was on.
It was also gathered that about N500,000 has been spent by the church preserving his corpse at the mortuary at 68 Military Hospital Road, Yaba, Lagos.WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PHOTO
